BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

@BellaRosex I did wonder a few months ago because I have a cousin who’s expecting twins who knew the genders at her 12 week scan, but I just assumed maybe they did things differently where she is (Australia) lol 😂

FlowersRainbow · 06/05/2025 20:19

@Xwx1010 all good here so far, thank you for asking ♥️

We have told a few people. My job involves going on construction sites and quite a bit of travelling which I wanted to avoid so I told my boss and a couple of close colleagues early on. They were great and its also allowed me to take the time off for all my scans and appointments so far.

Close friends and family knew about our IVF so we told them when we found out.

Probably won’t tell wider circle of friends and other colleagues until its too hard to hide it anymore haha

@BellaRosex I didn’t know about gender blood tests, I am going to look into that, I am desperate to know!

Xwx1010 · 06/05/2025 20:20

@BellaRosex advice please lovely just as you’re a few weeks ahead : noticing a very hard lump (like the top of a ball) forming right where my uterus is - Google tells me uterus starts to move upwards about now and I’m likely feeling the bottom of it.
I’ve never got this far or had a bump so I’ve no idea what’s normal at this stage. I don’t have a proper bump yet just this firm feeling top of vagina/under belly and torso under boobs looking much more pronounced.

also had some strange pains today on left side of uterus, think it’s wind/bowel related as had a laxitive yday but doesn’t feel like usual stretching pains - did you notice discomfort stepping up at this point at all? (13w)

heads mashed! Thank you xx

Hi @Xwx1010 , oh it's just constant worry for me too, every little niggle or pain! I can't say I've noticed the feeling of a ball like shape but that said, I've not been poking around (I'm too afraid to!) As for the unusual pains, I've been getting ones on my right side! They worried me initially but I'm putting it down to uterus stretching etc.

Bit of a random one but do you know if you have fibroids by any chance? I know subserosal fibroids can be felt like hard lumps/balls on the uterus depending on size. It's probably not that at all! But I myself have fibroids so was curious if you knew.

Thank you! Yes I have one decent sized one, I may call EPU and see if they will check me out if it continues. I’m away with work now though for a few days so I’m just going to have to crack on frustratingly but I’ll see how it goes xx

Congratulations @Familyfirst12welcome to the thread.

Ive been away for the bank holiday weekend which has been nice, but feeling rubbish now I’m back. Headaches have really started this week. I think I’m not drinking enough, but also struggling to drink as I still feel nauseous. Can’t wait for that to die down!

Ive got my 12 week scan on Monday which isn’t too far away now. Fingers crossed it is all ok and I can relax a bit!

I can’t feel a lump, but I am starting to feel really uncomfortable if I rest anything on my stomach.

Have you tried coconut water? That’s been great for me! I’m 10 weeks tomorrow…ah!!

Charmofgoldfinch · 07/05/2025 15:16

Sorry you’re feeling so rough @PrincessofLiechtenstein. another tip re: nausea - have you tried just sucking on crushed ice? The ladies on my ward with severe morning sickness swore by it and at least you’re getting some water in very slowly. Good luck for scan on Monday - will be so nice to see how the baby is growing!

captainsmal · 07/05/2025 21:27

Hey ladies, had my 10 week midwife booking appointment today!
Looks like I’ll be having lots of monitoring and stuff tbh 😅 so because I have a few different autoimmune disorders (fibro, raynauds, asthma, hypermobile, eczema etc) I have to get an obstetrician as well as the midwife team! She said they will have to decide when I’m further along whether to induce me at 37 weeks or let me go full term. Also, because of the raynauds and bad circulation etc I have to have aspirin 150mg a day from 12 weeks until birth to help make sure the blood is flowing enough to reach the placenta.
As well, because of the hyper mobility (things dislocate easily and due to pregnancy hormones releasing more relaxin for birth) I will have to see a special pregnancy physio from 16 weeks. I also had a couple of spinal surgeries a few years ago so they’ll keep an eye on that too.
So basically I now have a midwife, an obstetrician and a physio 😅 but she said it’s good because I might get extra scans and see baby more often!
I’m also having the diabetes screening at 28 weeks because my Mum is a diabetic so I might get gestational diabetes.
Apart from that all good, she was really lovely and answered all my questions and didn’t make me feel like I was being silly about any of it. She’s also give me the mental health info because of my past history but I said at the moment I feel okay except the usual pregnancy anxiety which she said doesn’t really go away until 20 weeks when people feel the kicks all the time!
I’ll get a call by Friday with my 12 week scan and my 16 week midwife is already booked in so just waiting for the obstetrician to contact me and for my GP to do the aspirin prescription now 🤞🏻

Charmofgoldfinch · 08/05/2025 16:38

Sounds like you have a good midwife and they are taking good care of you and baby @captainsmal only 2 weeks to go until you next see the baby - and if you do get to see the baby a few extra times during your pregnancy that will be lovely!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 08/05/2025 18:40

It’s good to know they are going to look after you @captainsmalhopefully things will be straightforward for you.

Im not sure the 20 weeks comment with the anxiety is helpful though! I don’t know if I can stand another 9 weeks of this 😅 I’m driving myself crazy!

My nausea has been a bit better, thanks for the tips! I definitely think it’s worse when I’m dehydrated so doing my best to keep drinking.

How is everyone else getting on?

captainsmal · 08/05/2025 22:37

@PrincessofLiechtenstein when she said that I was like WTF don’t tell me that lol 😬
Will you get an early gender scan or anything done do you think? I think we’re planning on one at 15/16 weeks so then it’s like midway between the 12 and 20, mostly because obviously want to know the gender but also it’s just an extra scan in between that long wait!
@Charmofgoldfinch yes so soon now! Didn’t hear from them today but she said if I don’t by next week just call and chase it. Crazy to think I’m 1/4 of the way through already lol. Maybe even more if I do get induced early 😬

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 08/05/2025 22:54

@captainsmalIve been thinking I’ll have to- not sure I’ll make it through otherwise. Think I’ll tell DH it’s either that or the at home Doppler.

hoping I start to feel them move sooner rather than later!

captainsmal · 08/05/2025 23:07

@PrincessofLiechtenstein I keep seeing things about dopplers but I don’t know much about them, are they very accurate and easy to do at home? Yeah I think it can be anytime from 16 weeks to start feeling movement but depends on the placenta position and all sorts! Sometimes I wish I had X-ray vision or like a window in my stomach just to peek in lol 😂

LincolnshireHollyhock · 11/05/2025 15:14

Hi all,

How is everyone doing?

we have our 12 week scan booked for a week on Wednesday and I am feeling a mix of excitement/aniexty.

Keep getting a pulse sensation from what feels like a super charged vain near my belly!

Hope you are all doing well x

VeryConfuzzled · 11/05/2025 20:09

Hi @LincolnshireHollyhock glad to hear that all is well. Has anyone done the NIPT test yet? My doctor mentioned it recently but said I can do it by my next scan or at least by 20 weeks.

Not yet but we would like that test whenever it’s offered.

How are things with you?

VeryConfuzzled · 11/05/2025 20:45

@LincolnshireHollyhock I am doing ok, thanks. I still don’t have a lot of symptoms and I’m now just over 9 weeks so it still hasn’t fully hit me yet. I think I keep on telling myself that I’ll feel more relaxed after the next scan which is coming up in 2 weeks time. But I don’t think I can stop myself from thinking that way, if that makes sense?

Yeh i completely understand what you mean. I think going through this process often makes us even more anxious - it’s a journey to say the least!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 12/05/2025 12:39

@captainsmal I completely agree. It would be so great to know what’s going on in there! Although I’m off for my scan in a few minutes and I’m really nervous so maybe I just don’t know what I want!

I haven’t done NIPT and I don’t think I’ll be offered it unless I come up high risk at the screening today. Fingers crossed it will be ok!

I know exactly what you mean @VeryConfuzzledits very hard to believe that the most likely outcome now is for everything to be fine. Hopefully we will get there in the end!

captainsmal · 12/05/2025 14:04

@PrincessofLiechtenstein let us know how you get on!

my 12 week scan is actually booked for when I’m 13+2 so I’m a bit bummed about the longer wait now, the anxiety is kicking in again but I’m still having nausea and sore boobs and things so I have to assume it’s all okay! I’m having the NIPT blood test same day as the scan

Xwx1010 · 12/05/2025 15:06

@PrincessofLiechtenstein good luck for today! Xx

Thanks all, baby was completely fine. Waving their little hands around in front of their face. Heartbeat all good and they had a very cool thing on the scanners where it showed you the blood flow in and out of the heart.

Im waiting to hear later today what my risk for downs etc is, but nuchal translucency was 1mm so fingers crossed it will come back low risk even though Im really old!

sorry you’ve got so long to wait @captainsmalthats another couple of weeks isn’t it?

captainsmal · 12/05/2025 15:34

@PrincessofLiechtenstein yeah not til 30th May so almost 3 weeks really 😅 I know I’ve already seen the baby at 7wks and everything but I just worry so much. Glad your scan went okay!

BellaRosex · 12/05/2025 16:14

I did the NIPT test privately. It's called Harmony or Illumina. I wanted it for peace of mind.
