BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

I found my midwife appointment pretty box ticky. Felt like an admin task for the midwife rather than a place to ask questions/get reassurance. There was an assumption that it will all be fine though, which I guess is what they mostly see.

captainsmal · 01/05/2025 07:22

@LincolnshireHollyhock no nothing like that, just the doubts and fears starting to creep back in again while I wait for my next scan!

totally agree.
personally I’d rather fill most of that in online and have a more helpful appointment with the midwife - or save them their time, feels like that process is in the dark ages!

Hi all,

Had our first midwife appointment with a lovely midwife. She asked a load of questions, took blood and urine sample and got given a “passport” with all sorts of information in it.

16 week appointment has been booked in and getting 12 week appointment in the post.

All starting to feel a bit real now…..

FlowersRainbow · 03/05/2025 16:33

Hi everyone, glad to hear so many positive updates! @captainsmal your midwife might be able to refer you for a scan with your EPU if you are feeling worried? Mine was happy to refer me when I was worrying at 10 weeks. It really helped put my mind at ease (for about 3 days!)

@Charmofgoldfinch I have the Badger notes app too, I’m glad to have them all in one place and not have to remember to bring notes with me. Not sure how to reschedule appointment though, my MW didn’t really give me any instruction on how it works. If I find out, i’ll let you know. Congrats on your great 6 week scan news!

I am still on the progesterone too, my consultant said I can stop at 16 weeks which is still 5 weeks away and I am counting the days already haha.

I am 11+1 today and I am SO exhausted. I heard that things are supposed to get better at 12 weeks. Anyone else feeling completely wiped out?!

Xwx1010 · 03/05/2025 17:12

I’ve been feeling much better over the last few weeks but today the nausea is back and I’ve felt rough. 13w today (last scan dated me a little ahead). Also wondering how the hell you make it from 12-20weeks without a scan. If the midwife can use a Doppler at the 16w appointment that would prob help. Has anyone had the 16w appt yet?

How’s everyone doing today? I’m starting to feel the tiredness now at 7 weeks. Sorry to hear your nausea is back @Xwx1010 - are you managing to eat small meals at least?
@LincolnshireHollyhock - which baby books have you got? There’s so many out there! I’ve got the contented little baby book out from the library, which looks good on a first read. And I’ve been listening to the audio book of ‘How to have a baby’ - which is worth a listen if you have Spotify premium

After 10 mins of googling reviews of baby books it’s seems the contented little baby book is quite controversial among parents - mainly about sleeping patterns and waking the baby up to stick to routines - 🤷🏻‍♀️ Ive no idea which books to read and what to follow!

Hi ladies, hope it’s okay for me to join you. I think I’m a little behind most of you - I’m 4 + 2 today (OTD) I tested early at 8dp5dt on Thursday and got our first ever BFP which I’m still struggling to believe and feel incredibly greatful for. I will be ringing the clinic tomorrow to let them know it’s positive but the anxiety is so real now. I don’t really think I’ve got any symptoms bar sore boobs which I think is mostly due to the progesterone so obviously I’m just over thinking everything. I really thought once I got the positive, I’d stop stressing?!?😂 X

captainsmal · 04/05/2025 20:36

@Familyfirst12 welcome and congrats! I’m afraid I haven’t stopped stressing tbh 😅 it just becomes a different type of anxiety!

9+4 here and really been feeling the tiredness, nausea and sore boobs last few days! Totally off progesterone now so was hoping for it to ease up but nope 😬 second midwife Wednesday 🤞🏻

Charmofgoldfinch · 04/05/2025 21:53

Congratulations @Familyfirst12 !! I’m a little ahead of you 7 +1 - I also have had few symptoms apart from tiredness so far so don’t worry about that - just enjoy it whilst you can! Will you be having a 6 week scan?- seeing that little heartbeat might help put your mind at ease a little 🩷

Familyfirst12 · 05/05/2025 08:43

@Charmofgoldfinch I know, I’m trying so hard to enjoy it but it’s so tough isn’t it! I think my tests are still looking good (think I’m going to stop testing now) but I have woken up with no sore boobs - they have been killing me the last few days so obviously that just sent me in a spiral. Yes they will offer me a scan in 2-3 weeks which will massively help x

Charmofgoldfinch · 05/05/2025 08:58

@Familyfirst12 - I think we’ve all done several tests on here. Once you’ve had the scan you should feel a bit better. even after my HCG blood test I kept doing tests until my scan 🙈 I was also amazed at how quickly the cheapie test strips turned positive after years agonising about non existent lines! That’s good re: boob ache - hopefully your body is used to the progesterone now 🤞🏻

VeryConfuzzled · 05/05/2025 09:16

@Familyfirst12 Congratulations and welcome aboard! I still don’t have many symptoms either, but I do get hungry constantly so try not to worry too much 💐.

@PrincessofLiechtenstein I’m doing OK, thanks. I had to step away from the board for a while because of my early losses and I didn’t want to worry Phoenix, but I was already worrying without realising it. After I had a scan on the 19th of April, I had another recent one on the 3rd of May and I’m measuring 8+4. Congrats on stopping the meds, have the bruises gone away? I’ve been using a gel and it’s softened up the rash but I’m hoping the scars will slowly fade.

How’s everybody doing? I have another scan in a few weeks time after which I can hopefully stop all meds so I can’t wait!

Xwx1010 · 05/05/2025 09:25

happy bank hol everyone, hope you are all having a good weekend.

guessing we’ve got some 12 week scans coming up soon @captainsmal & @PrincessofLiechtenstein ?

@Ngall24 & @FlowersRainbow @LincolnshireHollyhock hope you’re all ok too?

@VeryConfuzzled congrats on your scan, how far are you now?? X

@Charmofgoldfinch how have you been feeling has the OHSS settled now?

@OneWaryCat @BellaRosex how are you both getting on waiting for your 20w? I have no idea how I’m going to last another 7 weeks for my 20w!

@Familyfirst12 welcome xx

when did/is everyone thinking of telling people? Most of our close friends know already as they knew about the ivf but I haven’t told my extended family or friends yet, I keep putting it off and I’m 13+2!

hoping we hear back about the trisomy screening in next few weeks too x

OP posts:
captainsmal · 05/05/2025 09:38

@Xwx1010 Yeah should be in a couple of weeks, I think I find out at the midwives Wednesday!
We’ve already told close family etc and also most people at work know because I have to stop the heavy lifting and changed departments because of it, but will be “Facebook official” after the 12 week scan I think.

Really got emotional this morning, it’s my wedding anniversary today and in my Facebook memories on last years anniversary post I’d put “hopefully this time next year I’ll be writing the happy anniversary post whilst pregnant!” (We’d literally just had our first fertility consult last April) so I was like wow, I actually am writing todays post pregnant! 😅

Xwx1010 · 05/05/2025 09:50

Awww that’s so nice @captainsmal and happy anniversary too !!

I’m so scared of jinxing something - which is ridiculous I know. I’m going to wait for the trisomy results before I tell the rest of my family at least - I’d always swore I’d wait until 20 weeks but I don’t think it’s possible and I’m starting to look suspiciously permanently bloated too 😂

OP posts:
captainsmal · 05/05/2025 10:22

@Xwx1010 I get that feeling of jinxing it tbh. Yeah I’m so bloated I don’t think I’d be able to hide it for too long lol!

VeryConfuzzled · 05/05/2025 10:34

@Xwx1010 I haven’t really told anyone apart from my immediate family because I still can’t help but feel as though something could go wrong. According to my recent scan, I’m 8 weeks and 4 days. I have another scan coming up in 3 weeks time. I’ve gained a lot of weight recently so it’s not too obvious. When I used to be very slim, any sign of a bloated stomach would invite comments.

Charmofgoldfinch · 05/05/2025 11:12

Happy anniversary @captainsmal - that’s such a nice story! Hope you have something nice planned to celebrate :)

We also haven’t told anyone about the pregnancy apart from both our line managers (as I had pregnancy related illness and we also both get fertility leave from work). It’s quite difficult because my husbands parents knew about the IVF as he needed some support so he feels guilty not telling - but they aren’t good at keeping a secret and have a past history of sharing pregnancy news which wasn’t supposed to be shared 🙊 we think we will tell folk at 12 weeks - I don’t think I’ll be a let to hide it after then anyway! I think tell family whenever you feel it’s the right time @Xwx1010

OHSS is slowly subsiding thanks @Xwx1010 - my ovaries are returning back to normal and the swelling reducing - I’m on blood thinners until week 12 though which I will be glad to say goodbye to! 👋

BellaRosex · 06/05/2025 13:25

@Xwx1010 Thank you for checking in!!! So happy to hear that everything is progressing wonderfully for you 😊. I'm not that far ahead of you. I have my 20 week scan at week 19 but I booked a reassurance scan for this coming weekend at 15 weeks just to see baby before the big scary anatomy scan!!

So far everything is going well. I'm still suffering food aversions, slight nausea, some occasional headaches and pain on either sides of my hips/upper thighs!? I thought everything was supposed to magically resolve itself at the start of the 2nd trimester 🤣. Do you feel better or still have any lingering symptoms? Xx

captainsmal · 06/05/2025 17:08

@BellaRosex thats exciting, will you be hoping to find out the gender at 15 weeks? I think we’re doing the 15/16 week one too.

I actually did a blood test at 10 weeks to find out the gender! We're having a little girl 😊. I couldn't wait until 15 weeks to find out 🤣

captainsmal · 06/05/2025 17:19

@BellaRosex aww congrats! I didn’t even know that blood tests were a thing til the other week when I was looking on the website for the gender scan place lol! 😅

BellaRosex · 06/05/2025 17:27

@captainsmal apparently you can get it from 6 weeks, which is crazy!!
