Hiya. I’m due to start IVF in March and just wanted to find some people who were going through the same so we can support/ advise eachother! I’m 32 and have been trying to get pregnant for 8 years now and just wanted to meet some people in the same boat!

@Timetotryagain yep first one, first cycle! But I’ve had surgeries before so I’m not really worried about that aspect, more nervous about how many eggs I will get and how many fertilise etc lol

Good luck today! Hope all goes well! X

@Twofromanotherkind ooh amazing! I have my ovaleap and trigger shot in the fridge and then my ovamex in the cupboard waiting

LimeBird · 12/03/2025 09:43

Just had my call from the clinic, sadly the last embryo hasn’t made it to blastocyst so we have nothing from this cycle 😢 so depressing! We’re PGTA testing, so wanted one from each of the 3 cycles to have a chance of getting a euploid. I only have one more cycle to go and one blast in freezer.

I'm so sorry things went wrong for you in this cycle. What's the plan do you know for your last cycle.

LimeBird · 12/03/2025 09:59

Thank you @Miraclemuma03 . Just in a state of disbelief at the mo! I need to book my review and then see what they say regarding any tweaks to be made. Really hope they have some suggestions as to what went wrong, as would hate to approach next cycle just thinking it will probably happen again. One of my family said don’t worry you can do more after this set of 3 rounds, which is tempting but at 41, how much more do you do before you call it a day? It can get addictive as you think each time might be the one.

Miraclemuma03 · 12/03/2025 10:00

Wish we could just be pregnant without all the bull that goes along with it to get there.

Timetotryagain · 12/03/2025 10:04

Devastated for you :( @LimeBird we are also doing pgt testing too.

Have they said when you can do another stim cycle?

That is a really incentive thing to say to someone going through ivf especially when going through round after round. It just shows that no one really understand the toll it puts on your body and mind. Having another round isn't as simple as just going again, it's the time, finances, the physical and mental changes in the body. I just want to say that I'm sorry this is your reality right now and that you didn't receive more empathy. I really hope that you can get some answers and that your next round is a positive one. I completely understand that going again is a massive decision and it took a long time for me to decide to go again, I have people in my life who tell me I have too many kids and why would I put myself through more stress to have more. So we just don't talk to anyone about it and no one knows we are going again, i get defensive and angry when people have an opinion on my life and family planning. I think you should throw everything you have at your last round, it might surprise you.

LimeBird · 12/03/2025 11:14

Thanks all 🥰 yes I think some people just think you should carry on until you’re bankrupt/driven insane! Everyone has an opinion on it don’t they!
I think my next round will start in early May, so I will now have a couple of months to rest and recover.
I hope all goes well for you @Miraclemuma03 and @Timetotryagain x

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 12/03/2025 13:34

Really sorry to hear that @LimeBird hope you can take a bit of time to rest, recover and look after yourself before the next round.

It's really tough when people don't get it. I had one friend who asked me if I was excited when I got my start date through because "you're going to have a baby"

captainsmal · 12/03/2025 13:53

Hey everyone, thanks for the well wishes this morning! I just got home from EC. Unfortunately even though in previous sedations I’ve basically been asleep, in this one for whatever reason I was awake the whole time and felt pretty much everything 😭 they topped my dose up 3 times but it was still so painful. But I got through it and I just have some sort of period types pain now tbh. Did also have a little scare where they found a tablespoon worth of fluid in my abdomen, they thought it was internal bleeding so I had to stay an extra hour and wait for another scan to double check but it was all fine on the second scan luckily. Progesterone level was 3.4 from Mondays blood tests so I’m officially able to have a fresh transfer Monday as long as we get embryos 🤞🏻
Now for the important news… I got 8 eggs collected. Don’t know how many mature I don’t think they’ll tell me, I just have to wait now until tomorrow morning to see how many fertilise. Not gonna lie I feel slightly disappointed with the number because I’m thinking by the time the attrition rates kick in I’m not sure how many embryos I’ll get from just 8 eggs? Especially if any of those eggs aren’t mature. But we will see and it’s that waiting game now. Starting cyclogest tonight but right now off to have a nap lol

captainsmal · 12/03/2025 13:54

@LimeBird sorry for your news and the insensitive comments from others, people just don’t get it 🙄

@PrincessofLiechtenstein Yeah same i am soo optimistic about it but also in the back of my mind thinking what if it doesnt work out. Whereas everyone else i speak to thinks ivf = baby. Someone asked me what my due date will be as if its a give

@captainsmal omg that sucks about the sedation!!!! I wonder why that was the case :( Best of luck for those 8 eggs :)

Twofromanotherkind · 12/03/2025 14:35

Sorry to hear that @LimeBird. Hope you can rest and recover. That must be so hard. Some people just have no idea

LimeBird · 12/03/2025 16:37

Thank you @PrincessofLiechtenstein , that’s mad that someone said that to you! I really think there needs to be more awareness of these things.

thank you @Twofromanotherkind , I’m definitely having some rest and going to treat myself to something nice at weekend.

aw @captainsmal i was thinking about you today, well done for getting through the egg collection! So sorry you were not fully sedated though 😮 you poor thing! I think 8 is good, did you get any indication on what to expect beforehand? Although they’re never right are they! Fingers crossed you get a good fertilisation rate 🙏 rest up and hope you feel ok as you recover x

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 12/03/2025 17:02

Sorry that your EC was so rough @captainsmal and that you were disappointed with the number of eggs. It really is so difficult at every stage isn't it, but 8 is still a really good number and I hope you get a good fertilisation rate. Hope you take it easy tonight and things aren't too painful.

Some sensitivity awareness would definitely be a good thing. It's tough I guess you hear more about IVF success than failure, because I think people are more happy to share their experiences if they have had a positive outcome. Then people assume that it's just an easy fix which it is definitely not!

captainsmal · 12/03/2025 18:24

Thanks everyone, yeah I had 7 follicles and maybe some would catch up so 8 was probably expected, I’m just hoping they were all mature. I think drop off rate is 80% mature so maybe 6-7, so hopefully I’ll get a handful fertilised and maybe a couple to day 5? Dreading that call tomorrow lol

had a good long nap and felt a bit queasy when I woke up but just managed some soup and due another paracetamol in a minute so hopefully I won’t be too bad tomorrow. Just crampy and wind/bloating this evening

SlinkMcSlink · 12/03/2025 18:56

@captainsmal Keep trying to think positively! Just needs one egg and one sperm. I say that to myself all the time. One please!!! Any more is a bonus! Got everything crossed for you x

ivfjourneyandme · 12/03/2025 22:29

@captainsmal well done on EC

Try not to overthink the numbers, it really is luck of the draw x

Hi all!!!

Can I join 👋🏼

It's been over 8 or 9 years since I was on the infertility boards and I remember the amazing community I had that got me through some really rough times.

I have two DC, one was the result of IVF so I've been through the rigmarole several years ago.

She cost a lot of money and was the result of the second round, 4th transfer. The first transfer we did resulted in the loss (premature birth and subsequent death) of my son. I can't even explain the pain of that after undergoing fertility treatment to get to that point in the first place. It was over 2yrs TTC before we did IVF and then ended up losing my first child.

Fast forward several years and I am with a new partner (divorced a while ago) and undergoing ICSI and transfer hopefully this month.

I had egg collection in December, 20 eggs, 18 mature. We fertilised them a week ago, 15 fertilised and then the following: 3x Day 5 embryos, 4x Day 6, and 2x Day 7 that have all been frozen.

We are genetic testing these 9 and will have the results next Tuesday which I'm already getting very worried about 🥺 To manage expectations my doctor told me to expect 1-2 genetically viable embryos to put back.

@expat321 welcome to the thread. I'm so sorry for your loss of your son, it is so hard. We also unfortunately had to lose our son at 4months gestation but was not because of premature birth. I want to wish you luck on your new ivf journey and I hope you get a good amount of normal tested embryos.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Absolutely heartbreaking especially when on the back of IVF treatment.

Timetotryagain · 13/03/2025 10:17

@expat321 sorry to hear about to loss of your son 💜 and welcome back to the ivf journey, i hope its a smooth process for you!

I am getting all nervous now about doing my meds etc and getting it "right". I watched 2 videos on my ovamex, one saying DO NOT attempt to remove air bubbles, and one saying YOU MUST remove air bubbles and i am like ahh ffs what one is it haha
