Hi all ☺️

I have had an IVF round in November and had a freeze all cycle. I have had a meeting with the consultant this morning and will be doing a FET in late December/early Jan.

Please join this thread if you are on a similar timescale πŸ’«

@HeadInTheClouds4 welcome to the 28th club πŸ˜‚
2nd transfer here first one failed fresh cycle. This time FET. I’ve not had any symptoms apart from mild cramping early today. I’m going to hold out to OTD if I can which is the 10th. We have discussed doing it on the 8th Feb to process over the weekend in case it’s not the result we want.

Ginny91 · 31/01/2025 19:03

@HeadInTheClouds4 first transfer for me! Failed IUI and had to freeze after IVF - My OTD is the 8th but think I'm gonna test on the 7th so yeah just another eternity to wait..

Cosyseason1234 · 31/01/2025 19:30

@Ginny91 do you mind me asking how your IUI was? My friend wants to try IUI before IVF,from what I’ve read it seems to be lower success rate and still very expensive? No problem at all if you don’t want to share your story,I’ve been trying to convince her on IVF (as more likely to work) as IUI is nearly 4k for one go once u have paid for everythin? For context, she is 25 and in same sex couple xx

@Cosyseason1234 happy to share! It is way less successful and the costs rack up when you keep trying, especially when you have to buy donor sperm! The Doctors also really pushed me to do IVF from the beginning but I would say I'm glad I tried it as it became part of the whole process.. like it might sound weird but it helped that it followed my natural cycle and it gave me a proper intro to the clinic & procedures (including all their terrible admin and how to stand up for myself and listen to my instincts!) which meant I knew what to expect a bit more when going into IVF. You have scans and the procedure itself is similar to a transfer just without the tummy ultrasound and then the tww, which was hard but gave me some strength to start this one.

So from my side if you're solo or same sex and you have enough savings to try it - mine was about Β£2.5k all in - it could be worth a shot. It just depends what you decide you can afford and how long you hold out; my friend's sister bought a lot of sperm and was able to get pregnant on their 2nd vial through IUI. They're trying for the second child now and have used up 4 with no success and are still going. I always knew I couldn't afford to do that, I bought 3 vials, 1 on IUI, 1 on IVF and 1 still in the freezer.. it adds to the stress if I end up doing more rounds, but I have to just do one step at a time..

@Eagerlywaiting1990 I'm 11:30 as well! I'm the same, pacing around my flat πŸ˜…also know I'm going to be bursting for a wee! What are you doing after? I realised I haven't thought about it, any suggestions of good treats would be appreciated !

I thought it best to read the whole thread and catch up and I was the same date and time also!! How amazing 🀞🏼 Excited for us!

Eagerlywaiting1990 · 31/01/2025 20:52

Wow, @HeadInTheClouds4 let's hope that date and time is one we hold dear for a long time πŸ€ xx

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. 2.5k is very reasonable compared to the nearly 4k that a large fertility company have quoted. It’s madness how much everything costs! From google it seems not many clinics offer multi cycle IUI as well which I was surprised at? Hope you are doing ok during your TWW ❀️ @Ginny91 xx

I'm stressed tonight and I've been trying to stay nice and chill now embaby is onboard. My DH has seen the out of hour GP tonight for tonsillitis and they've sent him to a&e because of how swollen his tonsils are and how rapidly it's progressed. I obviously can't go and be with him because my DD is asleep in bed. It's hard!

@Mseddy sorry to hear about your DH! So many nasty bugs and viruses going round. Try not to worry,he is in very safe hands and hopefully he will be home very soon with a course of antibiotics. Completely understand why you are stressing,I think in our jobs we know too much! Try and get some rest in case your DD wakes in night,he will call you if he needs you xx

Thanks @Cosyseason1234 thankfully DD is an excellent sleeper so that will be fine. DH wouldn't ring me unless he absolutely had to, he wouldn't want to stress me out or have to wake DD up. But I've got him texting regular so I know he's alright for now. Our local a&e doesn't have the best rep!

Tell her to look at nhs places. Many do it at cost (self funded) and it's certainly nowhere near 4k. I would say if there's no fertility issues then it might be worth a go. If there were, then I'd say don't bother. We had 3 rounds (nhs) and it was a waste of time. But there's clearly some unknown issues with us.

SlinkMcSlink · 01/02/2025 06:59

I’ve just done another test and it says not pregnant. OTD is tomorrow so I’m out. I’m going to leave the group guys. I’m not taking it very well. Second failure and in quite a bad place. Good luck to everyone with their positives.

Eagerlywaiting1990 · 01/02/2025 07:10

@SlinkMcSlink sending you so much love. Look after yourself! This is a very shitty journey. I'm on my second transfer too and have literally no idea whether it's going to work or not but know I'll be picking up the pieces of my heart if it doesn't so I totally feel you xxxx

Cosyseason1234 · 01/02/2025 07:28

@SlinkMcSlink so sorry to read this. Look after yourself this weekend xxx

@SlinkMcSlink I'm so sorry. It's an emotional rollercoaster. Take all the time you need. I hope things work out for you when you have the strength to try again. Sending hugs xx

Mseddy · 01/02/2025 09:33

@HeadInTheClouds4 welcome! You're joining me, @Eagerlywaiting1990 and @Purpleflowers17 we all had ours on the 28th.. I'm currently aiming to wait till next Friday before testing but I agree definitely in need of a sign! All I've had so far was a bit of cramping the other night but its settled now so a frustrating lack of things to report.

Just an FYI I got faint line this morning using an easy at home strip. 😬✨️ I wish I had the patience of you all.

Purpleflowers17 · 01/02/2025 12:37

@HeadInTheClouds4 congratulations hoping it means the 28th is all our lucky days 🀞🏻I am defo not testing until next Saturday at the earliest. This next week is going to be torture πŸ˜‚

Eagerlywaiting1990 · 01/02/2025 13:08

@HeadInTheClouds4 no way! That's so exciting! Congratulations!
I just want my outcome to be definitive. If I got no line now I'd think it might change and don't need to toy with my emotions anymore than what I am xx

Kirstie16 · 01/02/2025 15:48

Hi girls just got back from the hospital as I had a bleed, they examined me and my cervix is closed so they said that’s a good sign but to me bleeding so early on can’t be a good sign, has anyone else experienced this?

MS2692 · 01/02/2025 18:21

@Kirstie16 yes! After my first FET and testing positive I had mild bleeding but it was caused by using the pessaries as the cervix was super sensitive
