Hi all ☺️

I have had an IVF round in November and had a freeze all cycle. I have had a meeting with the consultant this morning and will be doing a FET in late December/early Jan.

Please join this thread if you are on a similar timescale πŸ’«

Anyone have plans for the post transfer diet? I'm trying to throw everything I can at this and thinking:

  • lots of protein
  • Brazil nuts
  • pomegranate juice
  • low sugar
  • limited red meat

Any other ideas?

Mseddy · 25/01/2025 09:53

@Purpleflowers17 I'm on 3 pessaries and 1 lubion injection. With my DD I was on 3 and 2 lubion injections because I had a chemical with my embryo before her. I was hoping for the exact same and my consultant said he would, but I've only got 1 inj prescribed. I have a blood test on Tuesday so I'm going to hold out and see. Can you ask your clinic for a level check?

First day on progesterone today. God I have NOT missed the dreaded beaver bullets!

Cosyseason1234 · 25/01/2025 10:38

@SlinkMcSlink @cleggrickman how are you? I feel bad as I have had to cancel going for dinner for a friends birthday tonight but I’ve got nothing to give! A week of work then transfer and meds making me feel sick - I need a duvet day and I think this is ok as actually FET is alot mentally and physically?!

@Mseddy the dreaded bullets πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@Cosyseason1234 glad you've taken a day to yourself. Do not feel guilty, you've been through and are still going through a hell of a lot.
I have woken up with sooo much anxiety this morning which has really caught me off guard...this process doesn't half test you xx

SlinkMcSlink · 25/01/2025 11:21

@Cosyseason1234 Yeah definitely listen to your body! I’m feeling okay. Felt some twinges before and breasts are a bit tender but that’s probably the progesterone.

I’ve just treated myself to a blow dry at the hairdressers and going for a brunch with a friend this afternoon whilst I’m feeling okay and positive. I’ve said I’m doing dry January so I’m driving. Last time I had a drink was New Year’s Eve and it was literally one glass of red wine with my husband to bring in the year.

I am a little bit paranoid about what to choose from the menu though that’s pregnancy okay. I know most things are okay but the paranoia about all the ingredients gets to you.

Hope everyone else is okay. This 2 week wait is dragging!

Mseddy · 25/01/2025 11:25

@Cosyseason1234 that's totally ok! A FET is alot. I found it harder than my two fresh transfers!

Cosyseason1234 · 25/01/2025 11:39

thank you all you have made me feel much better!

@Eagerlywaiting1990 hope the anxiety eases for you, getting outside always helps me and it’s a lovely winter sun day today β˜€οΈ

@SlinkMcSlink glad you are treating yourself and meeting friends you absolutely deserve it!

@Mseddy thank you! The emotional toll is a lot especially when having to socialise in a group,I’ve got nothing πŸ˜‚ hope you are doing ok!

@Cosyseason1234 I'm doing well. Just very tired but I think that's just my body relaxing after the build up. Just trying to take every moment as it comes. I have been worrying about testing it's all just mentally exhausting sometimes so I understand why you have cancelled. To just sit and be in your thoughts because let's me serious nothing is more important to us right now apart from how we feel and the anticipation of the outcome. I wouldn't want to sit making small talk about thinks I don't really care about right now x

TheseCalmSeas · 25/01/2025 15:42

Just over 2 days since my FET and feeling like many of you… exhausted physically and from over thinking.

I’m so bloated and feel so heavy. My jeans don’t fit so got some maternity tights to wear just to I look ok outside of the house. Had a big walk and lunch this morning but feeling a bit run down now so husband has sent me to bed. Going to watch some trash tv for a couple of hours.

@Eagerlywaiting1990 I’m necking a glass of beetroot juice each morning & evening. Avoiding anything mega cold too. No idea if that really does anything but here we are! Also keeping my feet warm all the time.

@Cosyseason1234 congratulations on your transfer, how are you feeling now? I know you mentioned the experience was pleasant, so at least it is not painful at all? :)

I saw you were asking about progesterone/nausea, I am currently on oestradiol + progesterone pessaries since Wednesday and I am feeling great, no side effects whatsoever surprisingly. Not even bloated. Easier than when I started contraception pill years ago.

My transfer is on Monday, so hopefully will join you soon in 2 weeks wait.

I probably would stick to shower rather than bath and knowing myself I will most likely test super early.

Ladies, what is everyone doing during two week wait, do you workout/exercise as normally or keeping things easy? I will try to have long walks, but will not ride horses (which I normally do weekly). It is very tempting to carry on riding during pregnancy, I am thinking of light flatwork on a slow and steady cob, but I am so much on the fence regarding this , thinking 'what if'....

Edited

I thought i would but I ended up not doing much. You go into preservation mode and it just doesn't seem worth risking.

paintfairy · 25/01/2025 16:23

Purpleflowers17 · 24/01/2025 21:51

@Sherr33 they said they will test on day of transfer for me results will be back next day. What I can’t understand though is if I’m requesting it and clearly they think I need it (as I’m on it every 3 days) then not sure what the barrier is to being on it daily?

Mine don't test either and find it frustrating. Surely it's a simple thing?

Mseddy · 25/01/2025 17:59

Two rather personal questions I'm afraid, but I mean isn't IVF all personal!

  1. has anyone asked their clinic about DTD? Last time I got pregnant with DD we didn't DTD until after my 6 week scan, but I cant remember for how long prior to transfer we stopped. Has anyone asked?
  2. is anyone else feeling rather swollen below? Started progesterone today and I've noticed that everything is just a bit fuller! Can't remember noticing this last time
Elena3 · 25/01/2025 19:51

Hi @Mseddy , I actually also have no ideas and somehow didn't ask. We did DTD yesterday (had to google what it stands for lol), but due to the fact I wasn't 100% sure whether it was ok, I asked to pull out πŸ˜… Sorry for really personal details, it is the best I could answer. I don't think anything is swollen with me, at least I didn't notice x And my transfer is on Monday.

@Cosyseason1234 I think you did the right thing to stay home if you didn't feel 100% well. At this time we should absolutely prioritise ourselves. Friends should understand! x

Cosyseason1234 · 25/01/2025 20:28

@Mseddy there is no dignity in IVF πŸ˜‚ I haven’t thought about it actually? (Also had to google DTD) maybe a week after transfer would be ok so any injury from the transfer has recovered?!
My friend had a really bad rash from the progesterone (red spots all over her) but was fine to continue so maybe the swelling is a really mild allergy reaction?

@Elena3 thank you! I’ve had a chill day with some nice food and a dog walk and feel much better, not socialising was defo a good idea πŸ‘πŸ»

@Mseddy so instructions from my clinic are no unprotected sex when prepping for transfer to prevent accidental pregnancy. Then no sex for the 2WW, think it's to minimise infection risk

Mseddy · 25/01/2025 22:37

@Hopefullyonedaysoon zero swimmers here so no risk of accidental pregnancy thankfully!

Thanks everyone. I'm still 5 days from transfer so I'm not going to worry about it too much for now and just carry on as normal. The delay after I did last time was a rule I made for myself! I was worried that orgasm makes everything contract (sometimes I get cramp after) and in my head I was like "oh no, what if it was implanting and then a contraction of my uterus ruined everything!" So didn't DTD in my first or second TWW. I did it shortly after OTD on my second transfer and first BFP then miscarried. I know it's not related, but it freaked me out enough to make me abstain with DD until after scan

Mseddy · 25/01/2025 22:38

@Elena3 I was thinking of this as an option πŸ˜‚ can't win! I've got all these hormones telling me I can't keep away from my husband, yet my brain telling me what if I fuck it up!

Hopefullyonedaysoon · 25/01/2025 22:42

@Mseddy ah fair enough, same for us as I have both tubes removed due to infection so no risk of pregnancy, think it's just a blanket rule they give out.
Maybe check with them afterwards, although my clinic gave me a sheet with all the do's and dont's so maybe you'll get the same

MS2692 · 26/01/2025 08:15

Hey! I stupidly tested this morning 5dp5dt using a first response and it’s definitely clearly negative and now I feel so disheartened and also have a gut feeling it hasn’t worked πŸ˜” I know it’s early to test but a lot people say they test positive on 5dp5dt with a first response

Day5 is the worst because you see people getting their positives from this day. I know its easy to say it but honestly you are very early to rule yourself out. Be kind to yourself and relax, remove any other tests from the house if you have too. Sending lots of hugs x

SlinkMcSlink · 26/01/2025 08:28

@MS2692 eurgh its so hard to keep away from the tests. Try and hold onto some hope for the next couple of days. I don’t know how you’ll stop testing because I don’t know either. It’s like that last bit of cake that you know you shouldn’t have because you’ll feel sick but it’s just not possible to think about anything else in this 2ww.

Mseddy · 26/01/2025 09:14

@MS2692 my test was stark white negative, not a hint of a squinter on 5dp5dt, she's currently running around playing unicorns. You are absolutely not out!

Hey don't rule yourself out. It's always best to test closer to your OTD. If you search online what stage your embryo will be at 5dp5dt you'll understand what stage it is at. It's for this reason I waited till I was atleast 7dp. X

Cosyseason1234 · 26/01/2025 10:31

Hey @MS2692

Sorry to hear you are disheartened, hopefully in 48 hours it will be a very different story! From what I’ve read I am going to try and hold out until 7dp5dt.

I thought this link was a good read, look after yourself today ❀️
