Hi all 👋

I have a failed first transfer (fresh) and have one embryo banked from my first retrieval.

I’ll be doing my first FET with it in March. Anyone else joining me for the wait?

I’m still waiting to find out what went wrong with my fresh transfer. Hopefully next time is the charm!

i think we’re going to worry @Copenhagener until the day they are here. In your situation if you can financially afford it I would get the nipt now. We’re currently in the waiting time for ours, we opted to get it done as well just for réassurerions after a few friends didn’t find things out until late in pregnancy.

Copenhagener · 13/05/2024 10:17

Thank you everyone for your experiences and thoughts. I’ve made my decision and booked in a NIFTY test for Wednesday when I’m 10+0. That’ll give me time to process and prepare in the worst case scenario. Or relax a little if everything is fine!

They’ll also do a very detailed ultrasound scan for any early soft markers of trisomy 13/18. I’ll have the results latest one week later - 6 days before my NT scan. Luckily they just shifted supplier, and the lab is just 20 minutes away by road in Denmark; so I may get the results even quicker. Fingers crossed.

It’ll be a nail-biting week, but it’ll help me proceed faster, either way.

I’ll keep you guys posted.

Hope you receive some good news from the tests which alleviates your worry ❤️. So hard not to panic about every wee thing. I agree that paying for it privately is so worth it when it comes to easing your mind during this time.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Wondering when those that have been given progesterone pessaries stopped taking them? My clinic said to stop at 10 weeks which was on Sunday just there. I know clinics all do different things but usually see others in them til at least 12 weeks. Just making me a wee bit anxious, especially stopping them overnight and not gradual!

We went for a private scan on Saturday and couldn’t believe that little frog looking thing we seen at 7 weeks is now the shape of a wee baby 🥹. Was measuring 4 days ahead at the time. NHS scan in 2 weeks and can’t wait to see he/she again ❤️.

Copenhagener · 15/05/2024 15:10

Hi ladies,

Thank you so much for all your kind words. It means a lot to me.

Small update. Had my NIFTY blood test today at 10+0. Should have results mid-next week.

The ultrasound technician was different this time, and so kind and competent. She owns the clinic.

She scanned baby extensively for 20 minutes and measured it at 10+1 (1 day ahead), found a nasal bone (normally absent in 21/13/18), heart beat has reduced to a normal rate of 166bpm, down from 185, and the neck fold is thin at 0.7 - too early to be definitive for another week yet, but she said normally she’d start seeing abnormalities in size there already at this point.

She’s been doing this for 14 years (at the hospital I’m using too!) and said nothing looks concerning to her - including my hcg/Papp-a numbers - just that they were taken early and I had IVF and they are in line with that. She said these numbers wouldn’t have raised any red flags for her when she worked at the hospital.

I decided to get the NIFTY Pro test anyway, but I’m feeling slightly more positive now during the waiting period. Has anyone else had theirs yet?

Baby was SO active today. It was waving and kicking its legs around the whole time! I was pretty surprised after very little movement last time.

@JulesIVF I’m on my last few days of progesterone now too. Also feeling anxious about coming off it. But the placenta has formed now and is taking over progesterone production - and yours will have too. So glad your frog is now a gummy bear :)

That all sounds really really positive!!! So glad you've had some reassuring news.

GoldenDoor · 16/05/2024 09:55

That’s great news!
You might get your NIPT results quicker. Bloods taken on a Thursday and back Monday here!

Our clinics standard protocol was progesterone until week 9 and then every other day and then stop at week 10. I read the evidence was up to week 8 I think so was happy with that.

Runner77 · 16/05/2024 12:30

@Copenhagener so glad that your feeling more positive! The second sonographer sounds very experienced and knowledgeable. Let us know when you get the NIPT results back, best of luck!

@JulesIVF the changes scan to scan are just incredible. Our little one is now looking discernibly like a human rather than a blob.

We got our NIPT results today, which are all categorised as low risk. I’m incredibly relieved and grateful. I also found out the gender and nearly cried with happiness on the phone. I of course would have been delighted with either gender, but hearing it made it all start to feel real. My partner doesn’t want to know at this stage so I have to be careful not to accidentally slip!

@GoldenDoor have you/will you find out the gender?

GoldenDoor · 17/05/2024 15:33

We found out as well @Runner77 figured with so many extra scans it was going to become obvious at some point. We both found out when we read the NIPT email. There’s no way I wouldn’t be able to slip and not refer to them as he/she in front of my partner, good luck with that!

Surrogate96 · 22/05/2024 13:36

Hi all.

i had a frozen embryo transfer in May of 2022, works first time. Was a grade 3AA (I think) and a donor egg and I showed symptoms 2 days after the transfer and was getting BFPs 3 days after the transfer. Birth ended in a c section, baby is happy and healthy.

i had another frozen embryo transfer with the same donor egg, embryo was the same grade. I took the same medication (progynova 3 x a day and 2 cyclogest 2x a day). The transfer was 24 hours ago today. I have no symptoms.

I have never shown infertility signs, I am a surrogate.

can people please tell me their stories of second babies successes after a first round successes & if it worked first time and if their symptoms were dramatically different. This time around I have no symptoms bar a slight cramping feeling in the uterus area but when I say slight, I’m probably over thinking it. The last time I had sore boobs and nausea and strong cramps but this time, nada!

I basically need talking off the insanity Google hole ledge!

Copenhagener · 22/05/2024 18:43

Ladies.

I have my results back! And they’re all low risk for trisomies and micro-deletions.

I couldn’t be more relieved. Thank you all for your kind messages over the last 3 weeks since my initial combined test blood results terrified me. It’s been a tough wait, but I am SO glad I took the NIFTY test - it feels like I’ve dropped a boulder off of my shoulders.

I have my 12 week ultrasound and NT scan on Monday, and if that’s all okay, we’ll announce.

Hope you’re all doing amazingly!

@Surrogate96 good luck!
I haven't had multiple pregnancies but I didn't feel pregnant really until I did the test. I tested a few days early and got a negative, so I wouldn't lose hope!

@Copenhagener that's brilliant, I'm so happy for you!

GoldenDoor · 23/05/2024 09:42

@Copenhagener thats wonderful and congratulations I think on your baby being a girl?

@Surrogate96 some people seem to get early results and some not. Coming from no infertility fingers crossed everything works out for you and your IPs, such an amazing thing to do for someone. I was in the panicking camp thinking it was over with a negative until day 6post and now have passed the NHS 12week scan!

Copenhagener · 23/05/2024 13:12

@GoldenDoor thank you so much! And yes, it’s a girl. I didn’t actually intend to find out the gender, but they didn’t redact that section. Oops 😬

Luckily my partner didn’t spot that part, and he’s always dreamed of having a little girl as his family is all boys, so I will surprise him this weekend with the gender news!

How are you and @RibbetRibbetRibbet @JulesIVF @Runner77 feeling now with symptoms? My extreme bloating has gone down so much since I cut back my progesterone, and I still have all day low-level nausea and sore boobs and the worst dry mouth. On the plus side, my appetite is a bit better again, which is great news as I’m off to Sicily next week. (A tiny bit sad I won’t be able to have any negronis).

OP posts:
JulesIVF · 23/05/2024 13:51

@Copenhagener so happy to see your results! You must be so relieved.

Same with stopping progesterone! Much less bloating. Aside from that I really don’t have any symptoms other than peeing during the night. My boobs aren’t as sore anymore but just a little tender. I’m know I should be happy but still makes me nervous lol.

Have my 12 week scan on Wednesday so hoping to feel less anxious after that 🥲. I will be 12+3 at that point. Can’t believe we’re going into our second trimester already!

RibbetRibbetRibbet · 23/05/2024 14:22

@Copenhagener I'm doing ok. I stopped my cyclogest and progesterone today and I have my scan on Tuesday. My stomach has been feeling a bit achy today and I am assuming it is the womb moving up a bit but I will glad when I have had my scan and hopefully will show it's all fine .
I've been really tired this week too.

GoldenDoor · 23/05/2024 18:20

@Copenhagener oh that will be amazing to be able to tell him and have fun doing so!

Runner77 · 26/05/2024 02:40

@Copenhagener fantastic news, so pleased for you. It’s such a relief to tick off another milestone.

@GoldenDoor you must be so happy to have had your 12 week scan! How are you feeling?

@JulesIVF and @RibbetRibbetRibbet good luck for your scans. Let us know how they go.

My scan is on Thursday, I’m already slightly anxious but I know the anxiety will build throughout the week. We are just starting to think this might actually be happening for us but I have a thought at the back of my mind that surely it’s too good to be true. It’s hard to shake the feelings of constant disappointment from the ivf journey I guess!

Copenhagener · 27/05/2024 19:15

Had my 12-week scan at the hospital today (at 11+5) as I will be travelling for a couple of weeks after tomorrow.

I know the NIPT is superior, but thought I’d share the final results of the combined test, based on the initial numbers that scared me so much - and to maybe help anyone else combing Mumsnet for answers one day.

NT: 1.2 - all looking good!
Nasal bone - present
Papp-A MoM: after all that worry and suggestions it was too way too low - it came out at 0.986 MoM! So almost totally perfect. I was shocked.
Free hcg: A little on the lower end at 0.387 MoM. But told it wasn’t anything to worry about, and a low free hcg didn’t suggest anything bad in isolation unless it was under 0.2 MoM. Baby is the right size for the dates.

which led to final risks of…
1:8092 for Downs
1:18447 for T18
1:57806 for T13

in total - a normal, low-risk screening. I’m actually starting to imagine having a baby now!

If I’d seen these results first I probably wouldn’t have gotten the NIPT. But I don’t regret it. I’m just surprised I was led to think that I’d be high risk, when everything came back quite low!

Also had to go shopping afterwards to get some maternity bras - I’ve gone up a whole size 😂

Please keep me posted on all your scans this week! How’s everyone doing who’re coming off progesterone?

I've been really tired this week too.

@RibbetRibbetRibbet meant to tag you above but forgot. I’ve also had lots of pulling and scrunching sensations. Nothing too bad and over quickly - but multiple times a day. Just seems to be the uterus starting to shift forward in our bodies and other intestines beginning to make way.

Good luck with your scan tomorrow!

Had our 12 week scan and all looks good. I was so nervous beforehand! I am so relieved.
We actually bumped into some friends waiting for their scan and it turns out they are 12 weeks too!

Copenhagener · 28/05/2024 21:26

Huge congratulations @RibbetRibbetRibbet you must be feeling so good tonight!

Will you get any further scans, or wait until the 20 week scan now?

@RibbetRibbetRibbet how lovely 🥰. So glad to hear it went well.

Ours is tomorrow morning. Cant wait to hopefully be reassured and accept this is actually happening 😅🤞🏻🤞🏻.

JulesIVF · 28/05/2024 22:31

P.s

is anyone getting round ligament pain? Sudden movements to get up and coughing whilst lying down = ouch!!!

RibbetRibbetRibbet · 28/05/2024 23:25

@JulesIVF yes! I emailed my midwife about it as I think you are supposed to mention any abdominal pain but she agreed for me it was nothing to worry about, I just let my husband do all the heavy lifting and carrying my shopping!

Runner77 · 29/05/2024 03:07

That’s brilliant @RibbetRibbetRibbet! Now you can relax and start to get excited (or more excited).

Good luck @JulesIVF
