FET March thread

Hi all 👋

I have a failed first transfer (fresh) and have one embryo banked from my first retrieval.

I’ll be doing my first FET with it in March. Anyone else joining me for the wait?

I’m still waiting to find out what went wrong with my fresh transfer. Hopefully next time is the charm!

@Ems93 I’m so sorry to hear that! Did it implant at all, or was it a total miss? :(

Do you know what you’ll do now?

I’m still waiting on my second beta, they said it’d be between 7-8pm.

Ems93 · 12/04/2024 16:21

@Copenhagener they didn’t say, just phoned and they said it didn’t work and to stop taking medication. They have said to call in a few days to book an appointment with a consultant so maybe they will tell us them.

I don’t think we will put ourselves through it again. Plus it would be £7000 as we had ICSI. Our first was successful so we are lucky to already have one.

Good luck, I’ve got everything crossed for you ☺️

Just got my results back: 4550 IU/L at just over 5 weeks. It was 121 a week ago. That means it’s been doubling every 1.5 days, which seems ok! Now, I’ll just wait until the week 7 scan. I feel a tiny little bit less anxious.

@Runner77 what was your week 5 blood result?

@Ems93 thank you for the kind words, and again, I’m awfully sorry for your result today, and I completely understand why you would decide to draw a line underneath the treatment now.

I’m very sorry @Ems93. Take care of yourself. It’s such a heartbreaking process.

@Copenhagener good to hear that you are feeling a little less anxious. My HCG was 14,000 which showed the requisite doubling every 48 hours. I have another blood test on Tuesday so already feeling slightly nervous for that.

JulesIVF · 14/04/2024 13:03

Jeez the nausea has truly kicked in this morning. Been having small bouts of it in the evening for the last few nights but feel awful today.
Has anyone else experienced something similar to ovulation pain on one side? I know it could be the corpus luteum as it is the side my dominant follicle was on but getting so worried about ectopic 😩. I’m 6 weeks today and my scan isn’t until Monday the 22nd.

Copenhagener · 14/04/2024 16:34

@JulesIVF sorry to hear you're stressing a little! My first scan isn't until the 25 April, so I totally feel the concern about having to wait and wondering if it's viable. I also am a little scared of ectopics/blighted ovums/mmc! My symptoms seem less the last few days too, with only some tiredness, low-level nausea, and a dry mouth. It's really hard to get out of my head.

@RibbetRibbetRibbet how's it going?

Hi all, sorry to hear those who cycles have failed. I don’t think anyone in real life who hasn’t been through this gets it, everyone seems quite dismissive, that you can just try again, why test or early scan etc. But for them it just means another month of sex with someone you want to have sex with!

Had another scan and at 7+2 have seen a heartbeat so still in the game.

Copenhagener · 14/04/2024 16:51

@GoldenDoor that's such wonderful news, congratulations! Do you have a due date?

I've actually not told anyone I'm pregnant (except partner of course) and I don't think I will until (I hope) it's absolutely necessary. It's another way infertility continues to rob you of joy and fill you with anxiety.

30th November from transfer date. Have actually told a few friends as they knew about the IVF, so they’ve known from day 1. But no one who’s been through difficulties getting pregnant/didn’t understand the early scan or testing every day from transfer. Family don’t know and won’t tell them until at least 12 weeks I don’t think, as long as we make it there.

i thought seeing a heart beat/currently viable pregnancy would reassure me, but I think it’s always going to be just hanging on until the next scan and then birth for it to feel real.

I think it's going ok, I have been feeling a bit nauseous the past couple of days.
I find I am constantly finding new things to worry about - my 7 week scan can't come quickly enough!
I did another home test at 6 weeks just to make sure I'm still pregnant and it was a very bold line which is good- I haven't had/ been offered a blood test so those are all I have to go on.

My symptoms are all over the place like you.

@GoldenDoor I'm so happy for you :)

GoldenDoor · 14/04/2024 18:10

Thank you @RibbetRibbetRibbet
We used medichecks at home finger prick tests for the HCG, I think it was £75 a test or something so quite reasonable. How long until your scan?

My scan is 23rd April. I think I'm just going to wait it out- I'm sure I'd find something else to worry about even if it was a good result!

Copenhagener · 17/04/2024 10:47

Hey everyone, how is the scan wait going?

My symptoms are still quite mild, though I’m having random bouts of nausea - mainly in the evening. Boobs are sore one minute, then normal for 2 days, and back and forth. Extreme tiredness also seems to have reduced a bit. A little nervous that I don’t have any big continuous symptoms, but then again, I’ve heard many women have nothing much until after week 7.

OP posts:
RibbetRibbetRibbet · 17/04/2024 10:59

@Copenhagener my boobs feel sore too and swollen. I think it is partly due to the progynova.
Anyone else had any big mood swings? I was caught by surprise getting emotional last night.
I also have bouts of nausea, usually in the evening.

Runner77 · 17/04/2024 12:44

Hope everyone is doing well. We had our 7 week scan (was a little earlier than planned) today and so grateful & relieved to see a heartbeat. It still feels surreal.

@Copenhagener from what I’ve read it’s normal for symptoms to come and go, and vary from person to person. I’ve been very tired and bloated but not much else, and it certainly isn’t consistent.

@GoldenDoor congrats! How are you feeling?

Copenhagener · 17/04/2024 13:06

@Runner77 so happy for you! Big congratulations for you and the little one. How come you moved it forward?

Mine is on the 25th. Feels like forever away!

Glad to hear about your symptoms experience. I swear my TikTok is filled with people at 4 weeks puking their guts up daily and every other symptom under the sun.

@RibbetRibbetRibbet no mood swings for me (yet).

OP posts:
Runner77 · 18/04/2024 08:29

Thanks @Copenhagener! It still doesn’t feel real. I don’t think it will really start to feel real until we are through the first trimester and I start showing.

I know what you mean about the pregnancy symptoms, but they do seem very individual. I haven’t really had any morning sickness at all, but the tiredness has well and truly hit.

Hope you can relax a little over the weekend. It will be scan day before you know it!

GoldenDoor · 18/04/2024 18:27

@Runner77 like I’m holding my breath, that I don’t believe it’s real/am waiting for it to get taken away. I didn’t expect to feel so so scarred!

Copenhagener · 18/04/2024 19:17

I’ve been feeling like I’m going to vomit all evening - and yesterday evening. It seems to kick in around 5pm and every type of food I look at makes me feel nauseous. Luckily it’s just the sensation and I can actually eat okay.

I’m going to take it as a good sign!

I nearly caved and booked an early private scan today; but decided to wait it out until next Thursday. I doubt I’d see much at 6+1 anyway. Hopefully 7 weeks will be a bit more visible.

Hope you’re all doing well today :)

JulesIVF · 18/04/2024 20:46

@Copenhagener ive been the same in the evenings! Nauseous every night now and if I have a nap in the afternoon I wake up feeling quite sick.
The tiredness is wild, if I don’t manage to have an afternoon nap then I’m in bed for 8pm 😂.
Hope the next week goes by quickly for you. Mine is on Monday, so nervous 🥲.

ejtee · 19/04/2024 14:32

Hi all,

I hope you don’t mind me joining you here. I had a frozen embryo transfer on 2nd April (day 3 embryo) which has stuck, so I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow. We have a scan at the clinic on 7th May, and the wait is driving me mildly insane! 🙈

Like some of you, I’ve been absolutely exhausted and quite nauseous on and off (although I had this from the progynova before transfer).

If all is well at the scan, they’ve said I’ll continue on my progynova (currently a 20mg daily dose) and progesterone (1200mg) until 14 weeks. Is anyone else the same? It seems to vary quite a bit across clinics, which is surprising. I know it’s a bit different for frozen cycles as you need more hormonal support if you haven’t ovulated.

Hope you’re all doing ok today. It’s nice to have contact with people going through the same agonising wait! 😬

Copenhagener · 19/04/2024 14:55

Welcome @ejtee! Congratulations on your positive! There are around 5 of us still going on this thread I think. Maybe we should think about creating a winter IVF babies thread.

Is this your first transfer?

I’m 32; I had a natural cycle FET, and I’m only on 2x400 of Cyclogest a day - they prescribed it up until beta day; and I asked to continue taking it until scan day, because I have unexplained infertility and a short luteal phase. They said they don’t think I need it, but that it won’t hurt.

Wishing you all the best in the coming weeks :)

Thanks for the welcome @Copenhagener

My wife and I started our fertility treatment journey about 7 years ago now. We started with 3 rounds of IUI (not at all successful), then my wife had a round of IVF back in 2020. We were very fortunate to have our son from that round (now almost 3!), and 4 embryos to freeze. My wife has PCOS, so she responded very well to the stimulation.

I had my first round of IVF last autumn (aged 38), which unfortunately only yielded one embryo which didn’t work out. After much deliberation, we decided to go for trying with the frozen embryos rather than going for another full round with my eggs. I had 2 of those put back this round, so who knows, perhaps there will be 2 heartbeats in a couple of weeks!

My clinic doesn’t do beta testing, so I’m currently resisting the urge to spend even more money on doing that privately 😂🙈

Runner77 · 20/04/2024 00:59

Welcome @ejtee and congrats! How are you feeling? I’m also on progynova and progesterone; but I’ve been told to continue until 12 weeks.

@GoldenDoor I totally understand. I feel the same. I think we become so use to disappointment and the feeling that it would never happen to us, that it’s now hard to accept it might actually be working for us.

@JulesIVF good luck for your scan on Monday.

@Copenhagener the wait is so hard but you have all the right signs that everything is going well.

Has anyone had any spotting or pink/brown discharge? I’ve had some over the last few weeks, which I understand is quite normal but of course it peaks my anxiety. I have a first appointment with an obstetrician next Friday so I’ll definitely ask about it.

Copenhagener · 22/04/2024 07:22

@JulesIVF wishing you all the best at your scan today!

@Runner77 no spotting or pink/brown discharge, but mine has a slight yellowish tint to it.

I’m still dealing with nausea when I’be not eaten (which is a problem as I have zero appetite) and tiredness, but otherwise I’m okay. Tomorrow I have my first midwife appointment and they’ll take my bloods again. Then Thursday is scan day - so nervous!
