Hi all 👋

I have a failed first transfer (fresh) and have one embryo banked from my first retrieval.

I’ll be doing my first FET with it in March. Anyone else joining me for the wait?

I’m still waiting to find out what went wrong with my fresh transfer. Hopefully next time is the charm!

My cheap test that my clinic gave me showed a line (pics somewhere above) at 7 days past. I can’t comment on the ovitrelle though cause I didn’t test it out and I took it 6 days before my transfer. Just need to take the same test two days apart and see if it gets darker 😊.

Bruceytwo · 01/04/2024 08:13

It's my OTD today, got a BFN :(

Really disappointed, we have two more blasts in the freezer but no idea why this or the last transfer didn't work.

RibbetRibbetRibbet · 01/04/2024 09:23

@Bruceytwo I'm so sorry.
It's great that you still have blasts left though.

Hopefully your doctor can discuss any reasons why it may not have worked? It could just be down to chance too.

JulesIVF · 01/04/2024 09:50

So sorry @Bruceytwo 😣.

A225578 · 01/04/2024 11:49

Hello everyone, I am 13dp5dt and wondered if I could get some support on if I am having a chemical pregnancy or not? Or just some advice.

Sunflower360 · 01/04/2024 12:44

Congratulations to those that have had a positive test! I'm about to go into my 2nd FET on Friday....had an lh surge CD 9 after AF arrived after my first failed FET two weeks ago. So pretty quick as I haven't had a break between FETs....if this one don't work I'll have a 1 month break.

@A225578 I had a natural chemical last year...positive 14dpo then negative by 18 dpo

@Bruceytwo sorry to hear that. I noticed you had your Progesterone day before transfer, I think for natural FET? Did you have it tested before transfer?

A225578 · 01/04/2024 12:47

@Sunflower360 so sorry to hear this. Can I attach a photo to see what people think? Or atleast get some advice. I’m getting bad cramps aswell. I just can’t cope with the disappointment. We have never had a positive test before. This journey is a cruel one.

Sunflower360 · 01/04/2024 12:49

@A225578 yeah sure, share away. Just be mindful hcg can vary person to person, line progression is what you want to be looking for which I didn't see in mine- I had a faint positive at 14dpo and then it slowly disappeared

Runner77 · 01/04/2024 12:52

@Bruceytwo very sorry to hear that. It’s so hard having consecutive disappointments. Take care of yourself.

@Copenhagener that’s very exciting, congrats!

A225578 · 01/04/2024 12:56

@Sunflower360 thank you, it went the darkest it had gone, then todays is slighlty lighter and I’m getting cramps. Bottom is today’s at 13dp5dt. We did have 1 early day 5 and 1 day 6 that degenerated 50% of it cells after thawing. So felt it may have been a slow starter but now it’s slighlty gone down (even though I drank less water yesterday than the day before). Doing the same every morning after my injections, so it’s not being done at different times. So scared. Can’t call my fertility clinic until tomorrow because of the bank holiday. Don’t want them to give me false hope tomorrow, and I don’t think they offer blood tests.

Sunflower360 · 01/04/2024 13:04

@A225578 there is definitely line progression there. Assuming this was a test everyday? Sometimes urine can be diluted and I think hcg progresses every 48 hours, so perhaps that would explain the ecer so slightly lighter one at the bottom? I would push for a beta test or go private, just more for peace of mind than anything but hopefully things keep progressing

A225578 · 01/04/2024 13:16

@Sunflower360 thank you, I have been testing everyday. But everyone else has said the lines are not dark enough for the stage I am at, essentially 18dpo and to prepare myself for a chemical. It also didn’t come up as quickly as yesterday’s, yesterday’s test came up before the control line, todays was slower and to me a lot lighter than yesterdays. But I remember thinking how yesterday’s was so much darker than the days before. I’m really driving myself mad. My husband is full of happiness but I just don’t feel I can get excited. I really appreciate your time and for replying.

Bruceytwo · 01/04/2024 17:02

Thanks all :)

I spoke to the clinic today (can't fault them for availability!) and they are saying they basically don't consider there to be a problem until 3 failed transfers, so I'll be going for another FET in April.

Might use Estradiol this time, depending if the prescription arrives in time.

@Sunflower360 yes, just cyclogest starting the day before transfer, no test. Do you think that's something I should ask about? Good luck for Friday!! Tough doing them so close together but everything crossed this'll be the one for you.

Sunflower360 · 01/04/2024 17:41

@Bruceytwo could be worth testing . I'm not sure what the norm is with natural FET but I've been pn Progesterone from day after the surge/trigger in both this and my last FET. It is more of a top up really as your body should produce it anyway if you've ovulated. Is there a reason they've suggested estrogen next time? Do you have a few frosties you can work through. Good that you can do back to back too, I've done that this time as its natural FET

Runner77 · 02/04/2024 05:27

Hi Ladies, hope you all enjoyed the Easter break, although it would have been tougher for some.

I had my blood test this morning and we received some happy news. I can’t quite believe it! This was our third transfer and first positive, I had felt like it was never going to happen for us. Still a long way to go but I’m going to take it day by day.

Copenhagener · 02/04/2024 06:00

@Runner77 I’m so pleased for you! What was your beta number? They say it takes on average 3 tries, so I’m glad that was the case for you! Do you have a scan booked in?

@Bruceytwo I’m so sorry to hear that it was a bad outcome. I’m glad you can jump straight back in for FET 3 in April, and as Runner77 just showed: 3 can be the magic number.

@A225578 how are you getting on?

I was terrified yesterday’s result was an evaporation line as it properly came just outside the 5-minute mark and took 10 minutes to fully darken. Took another today, and it looks like it wasn’t a fluke - it came up faster and I think darker? A little at least. I’m still in disbelief. Wishing Thursday will hurry up for my blood test! It’s Day 8. Yesterday’s test above for comparison.

@Copenhagener that’s a great line. I only got a squinter on a FRER at 7/8 dpt.

got 1-2 weeks on a digital again today, same as two days ago. I also did another FRER + a higher threshold brand. My husband has pointed out that todays FRER is a lighter test in general, the and also that all 3 that’s I’ve done recently have all been different batches. Does this mean that this may not be what I’m thinking? Will attach a photo. Still feel my lines are light for the stage we are at.

Runner77 · 02/04/2024 12:10

Thanks @Copenhagener, I’m still in a bit of shock! HCG was 1530 I think (or could have been 1350), the nurse said it was right where they expected it to be 14dp5dt. Scan is booked in for the 18th.

@Bruceytwo hope you are doing ok. After our second failed transfer our consultant basically said it was a numbers game and to try again.

DoctorBambino · 02/04/2024 17:07

Congratulations to all the positives and big hugs to those with BFNs

We had our viability scan today and saw little heartbeat flickering away! Can't believe it! I have no symptoms, other than some very light nausea and I'm super tired.

Best of luck to everyone still going!

Runner77 · 03/04/2024 12:57

That’s brilliant @DoctorBambino! Congrats. Do you mind me asking how many weeks you are?

DoctorBambino · 03/04/2024 14:15

I'm 6wk6d today :)

Copenhagener · 03/04/2024 18:55

How’s everyone doing today? I took another test today and it’s not looking any stronger or darker. Seeing as the hcg is meant to double every 48 hours I’m a little worried. I had to use a different brand of test, but it was still first urine of the day. It’s not helpful that every thread I see about lines not progressing doesn’t have a good outcome.

I have my blood test tomorrow, so I guess I’ll know more then, but it’s made me really mopey today.

Wishing the rest of you dark lines and happy days!

@Copenhagener try not to worry (easier said than done) there is such a huge variation with different tests. The line between 7 and 8 is noticeably darker as well.
hope you don’t need to wait too long for the results. Best of luck 😊.

Copenhagener · 04/04/2024 08:18

I had my beta an hour ago. And the result is in: 121 IU/L. I’m 10 days post-5 day transfer. So; I guess I’m pregnant? At least for today. It doesn’t feel like it’s sinking it.

They said they consider anything above 75 positive. I’m speaking to a nurse tomorrow to learn more, as I realised I’ve been so wrapped up in whether I could even implant, that I never even considered beta numbers!

Has anyone else had their first beta and what did to come back as? I have no idea what the ‘normal’ range is for IVF pregnancies - or even how many weeks pregnant I would be at this point?!

Congrats @Copenhagener!

So if you're 10dp5dt you'd be 4+1 (days since transfer + age of embryo + 2 weeks).

In terms of HCG levels there is a massive spectrum and whilst a really low number can be a bad sign (which you don't have) and a really high number can be too (can indicate ectopic or multiples, you don't have that either) anything "in between" doesn't really tell you much - it's how it changes over time that can indicate if things are progressing well (roughly doubling every 48 hours at this stage).
