Anyone else planning going through embryo transfer in January? Would love to hear from others on this journey.

We last did an embryo transfer in July 2022, which was unsuccessful and had a previous two transfers, one unsuccessful and one resulting in miscarriage. As those were our only embryos I've been through 2 ECs this year and now have 8 euploid embryos! It's been a long journey and I'm very hopeful for this next transfer 🤞

@Hopingforno2in2024 thanks lovely. I've been here before and every time feels different!

Congratulations on being PUPO

Always28 · 12/01/2024 23:06

@HopefulHead did you get your first scan booked?

Warrier87 · 13/01/2024 07:46

Eeeek so turns out my transfer is on Wednesday!

And... I've been taking the wrong dose of estrogen, instead of two patches been using one at a time. But suprsingly my lining still managed to get the triphasic look and is the right thickness. Feel like an absolute plonka right now. But grateful if all came together!

@Lyrabee - thanks! Soooo. Ow just a few more days till they transfer!

@Lebe14 - it's been about 2 weeks roughly since I've been on estrogen... And exciting news for you! Should thicken up in no time!

@HopefulHead - aww it came! Yay! All booked in I presume?

@Always28 - Welcome!. 4 grade A's is amazing news! I hope your transfer goes well!

Fingers and toes crossed for all of you!

HopefulHead · 13/01/2024 09:35

@Always28 & @Warrier87 Yeo - scan booked in for next Friday so 🤞🏼🤞🏼 all looking good in there and I can start the progynova 🥳

Looks like there’s a few good news coming on this thread, keeping everything crossed for all of you 🤞🏼

DublinICSI · 13/01/2024 12:55

@Warrier87 that's very exciting!! I think i won't be too far behind you - have my scan on Monday, but I've now been taking Fematab for 2 weeks, so hopefully my lining is doing its job...!

botsytots · 14/01/2024 18:50

Just catching up and so lovely to see some of you have transferred or getting close to transfer. Best of luck for Wednesday @Warrier87 🥰

Welcome @Always28 - 4 euploid embryos is an amazing result!

@HopefulHead great news your AF arrived - hope all is going well so far ☺️

Good luck for your scan tomorrow @DublinICSI 😊

My AF finally arrived today so starting letrozole tomorrow and then scan booked for 24th. If all goes to plan I should be transferring early Feb 🤞

Morning, hope everyone had a good weekend.

I keep feeling sick a lot at the moment, which I’m pretty sure is a side effect of the 8 different meds I’m on!

Thanks - 4 euploid embryos is great and I feel lucky with that at least, especially given my age (42). It was our second round - on the first round we had 3 embryos and they all came back abnormal so we didn’t do a transfer. Second round we had 9 embryos. I didn’t do much differently so sometimes it feels like it is just a bit of luck and timing (which is crap because it’s much nicer feeling like you can control something!!)

DublinICSI · 15/01/2024 12:03

Thanks @Always28 !

Just back from my scan, lining is at 8mm so all good for transfer - the clinic is going to confirm after lunch but will either be Monday or Tuesday next week.

Can I ask what everyone's approach is regarding exercise? I'm usually quite an active person and hearing very mixed approaches about continuing your current routine vs ramping down everything to just walking! Currently mixing between strength, pilates, and tennis...

Lyrabee · 15/01/2024 15:09

@DublinICSI that's great news!
For exercise my clinic says nothing too strenuous and no heavy lifting. I would say your pilates will be okay to continue but modify to more flow routines to keep yourself moving and blood flowing.
Ideally you don't want to overheat as it can cause fainting I think.

To be honest, i go with the approach 'if the transfer doesn't take, would I blame this exercise?'
At the very least, I would take the opportunity to rest in the first 5 days as that's when implantation would happen.

Caubabatko · 16/01/2024 07:08

Hi all, I had the first scan in my 2nd FET cycle yesterday (Day 15). My lining was just about 7mm, no follicles seen, so transfer on 22nd going ahead:) Much less anxieties from uncertainty and less visits to clinic than the previous FET, which was natural cycle.
I've been instructed to continue with Estrofem and baby aspirin and start progesterone pessaries 800mg and Clexane 0.2ml per day on Wednesday.

@Lebe14 Thanks for asking! So far I've only had minor side effects like odd cramps, a couple of pimples, increased appetite and feeling warmer - which is great in the winter! How are you feeling on estrogen?

@Warrier87 Good luck tomorrow! Hope all goes well🍀

@Always28 Wow, great results from your 2nd collection, esp after no euploids in the previous cycle, giving us older ladies hope!

@DublinICSI I had my first and last scan yesterday and I'm booked in for 22nd so chances are our transfers are happening on the same day? I would continue exercising, actually I should move more for better blood circulation!

Wishing everyone the best this coming few days🍀

Lebe14 · 16/01/2024 19:22

@Warrier87 good luck for tomorrow!! Hope all goes well.

@DublinICSI so exciting that your transfer is early next week. How are you feeling about it? In terms of exercise, I've not had any advice from my clinic yet, however in stuff I've read it says to keep to a minimum - walking is fine (and I believe actually good to encourage blood flow) but nothing too strenuous for the first few days.

@Caubabatko great that you've got your transfer date - not long to go! I'm feeling okay so far on the oestrogen - not sure I'm feeling anything from it, apart from a bit of tiredness. I've been taking 8mg per day for 5 days now so I'm hoping if I were to get side effects, I would have had them already?!?

Really hoping my lining is doing as it should - will find out on Friday!

X

DublinICSI · 16/01/2024 20:00

I think you’re all right - don’t want to do anything that I could later regret, so will just stick with walks for the TWW. I’m actually feeling really tired anyway the last few days - I hadn’t noticed it until today, so it’s funny that you mentioned it @Lebe14 .

Yep I’ll be the same as you @Caubabatko, booked in for Monday lunchtime.

My work is really good about leave, so I’m actually going to take Mon-Wed off so I can properly relax (as things are fairly busy in work so want to have some proper downtime).

Are people planning to test before their official test day? The suspense always kills me 🙈

Ellenn · 16/01/2024 20:09

Great to see so many transfers booked in🙌

@DublinICSI thats great your work can get you time off! I’ve taken time off too when hopefully I will get transfer as previously I’ve always worked on transfer day. Going for a different approach this time cause why not 🤷‍♀️

@Lebe14 looks like we are scan buddies! I have my lining check on Friday too and really really hoping it’s all ok. We have transfer pencilled in for 26th if the scan goes ok. We might be around the same time?

Warrier87 · 16/01/2024 20:33

Hey all

So just getting ready for transfer day. Just given my partner all the pregnancy tests to hide! 🙈

@HopefulHead - aww amazing news! So already to start

@DublinICSI - so excited for you! Not long to go! So I'm a pretty active person, last time I did my embryo transfer I took two weeks off work, and wasn't really doing my usual workouts. Which I feel stressed me out even more haha. So this time, just the day off and after - chill day. Then some light yoga and walks. Light excercise is supposedly meant to help blood flow.

@botsytots - not long to go at all for you!

@Always28 - hope you're getting more settled on the meds now. How are you feeling?

@Caubabatko - aww thanks lovely! And amazing news, not long to go too!

botsytots · 16/01/2024 20:57

So exciting @Warrier87! Wishing you all the very best for tomorrow ☺️ Not testing before official test day is sooo hard. With my first transfer I tested early and got obsessive so since then I've always made sure I have no tests in the house until close to official test day 😆

@DublinICSI agree what everyone has said re excercise. I've heard it's best to stick with low intensity such as walking or yoga. There are also tww fertility yoga tutorials on YouTube which could be worth a go 😊 not long to go now for you and @Caubabatko - so lovely that you're both transferring the same day!

@Lebe14 and @ellenn good luck for Friday! Let us know how it goes x

Lebe14 · 16/01/2024 21:03

@Ellenn ahh how exciting! I've not been given an estimate transfer date yet - hoping we can transfer on 26th too so I have the weekend to rest. If it's the following week, I think I'll take the day of transfer and day after off work to relax. Good luck for Friday - let's hope our linings are doing well this week.

Thank you @botsytots xxx

lori2019 · 17/01/2024 09:26

Hello all,

Mind if I join you? Having our FET next week, Tues 23rd.
It's baby no 2, we had a little boy via IVF in 2021.

This is my first time taking Estradiol, it's making me feel horrendous. So nauseous all the time, and killer headaches. My lining was 8.1 yesterday, start progesterone tomorrow. Trying to focus on the end goal.

Good luck everyone with your transfers.

Lebe14 · 17/01/2024 18:29

Welcome @lori2019 - so exciting that you've got your transfer booked for next week! I've been on oestrogen since last Friday - feeling okay so far surprisingly and have another scan this Friday. How long were you taking oestrogen for before adding the progesterone? X

DublinICSI · 17/01/2024 19:45

Welcome @lori2019 ! You’ll be the day after me, so we’ll be in the TWW crazies together.

@Lebe14 I don’t know about others but my clinic’s approach is to start taking progesterone 5 days before the transfer.

Feeling a bit horrid m today, not sure if it’s an estrogen side effect or not - just feeling quite bloated and heavy. I know it’s not the point but think it’s just one of those days!

Lebe14 · 17/01/2024 20:15

@DublinICSI sorry to hear you've not felt well today ☹️ hopefully you can get some rest - IVF is both physically and mentally draining - we're totally allowed to have some days feeling like poo without justifying! X

My clinic did said the same - transfer will be on day 6 of progesterone. I'll have been on oestrogen a week on Friday, at my next scan, so trying to work out when the transfer date will be. I'm getting ahead of myself and just need to see how Fridays scan goes 😂

Hope you manage to get an early night and feel a bit better tomorrow x

lori2019 · 18/01/2024 11:15

@Lebe14 There was a bit of a change of plan mid way through. We started off as a natural FET with a trigger, then the trigger didn't work and I didn't ovulate. Lining looked good so doc added estrogen to maintain it, started that on Monday. Have started progesterone suppositories today. He'll do a progesterone blood test before the transfer to check levels.

@DublinICSI I'm feeling the same, jeans are feeling tight 😫 Good luck for Monday. Do you know how many days for your beta or pregnancy test? My clinic recommends 11 days, I've not bought any tests because I know I won't be able to resist an early peek

DublinICSI · 18/01/2024 11:21

Thanks @Lebe14 and @lori2019 - just got a bit fed up yesterday with feeling bloated and gross 😂but need to remember that the hormones do cause water retention and also that if all goes well, my size is only going to go one direction so this shouldn't be my focus area! But still going to make sure I'm drinking lots of water and eating well so that I feel good.

I have asked my husband to hide all my pregnancy tests - I drove myself crazy last time (which was unsuccessful) - was convincing myself about false positives / false negatives / bad quality tests / etc. Leaving it fully in the clinic's hands this time! I have to go back Fri 2nd for a blood test - so same as you @lori2019 - 11 days!

@Lebe14 I hear you in trying to pre-empt it all... this whole process is such a mental struggle! Hopefully your scan goes well and can get going quickly! Is it tomorrow or tomorrow week?

How is everyone else feeling / getting on?

Lebe14 · 18/01/2024 11:43

@lori2019 ahh fair enough. That's really good your clinic changed the protocol midway through and not cancel it when things didn't go quite to plan! How did you find the first progesterone? My main concern is the one in the middle of the day - having to do that at work in the toilet cubicle 😂😂

@DublinICSI my next scan is tomorrow morning - so not long to wait! Really hoping everything is as it should be. Hope you're feeling a bit better today.

X

Always28 · 18/01/2024 19:26

Hope everyone is having a lovely evening! We had our transfer yesterday and it seemed to go well. The best euploid embryo survived the thaw so we’ve had that put in. Test date is 30th Jan. They gave us a time lapse video of the embryo which was nice!

i keep googling what I can do to maximise chances of successful implantation. It’s such a helpless feeling at this point!
