Anyone else planning going through embryo transfer in January? Would love to hear from others on this journey.

We last did an embryo transfer in July 2022, which was unsuccessful and had a previous two transfers, one unsuccessful and one resulting in miscarriage. As those were our only embryos I've been through 2 ECs this year and now have 8 euploid embryos! It's been a long journey and I'm very hopeful for this next transfer 🤞

@Always28 congrats on your transfer!! Have you any nice plans over the next 2 weeks to try to take your mind off it? I have a timelapse video of our 2 embryos developing too - the technology is truly amazing!

Had my second scan for FET prep today. Lining is around 7.4mm - they want it a bit thicker before adding in progesterone, so I've been prescribed oestrogen patches alongside the progynova. I have another scan Tuesday - I'm hoping all will be good then to start the progesterone & get the FET booked for the following week.

Hey all!
So had the transfer on Wednesday. Apologise for being a bit quiet. Just taking some downtime. Unfortunately one of my frosty didn't make it. Had 2 more in the freezer, and both a bit lower in quality, so both were defrosted and transferred...

So funny on the day, my bladder wasn't full enough! Think I drank 3L haha to get it out there!

Now just relaxing and will start some light exercise/ walking. Get to test on 28/12... so fingers crossed!

@lori2019 - welcome! Not long for your transfer! How you feeling? Haha well done for hiding the pregnancy tests... I think I went a bit barmy last time. Out of site, out of mind...

@DublinICSI - aww how are you feeling? I completely understand. The progesterone is horrible. Makes you feel so bloated!

@Lebe14 - aww not long to go at all! Your lining is getting there. How are you feeling?

@Always28 a glad to hear it survived the thaw! How are you feeling? Aww so cute when they give you a time lapse video! Makes it so real!

DublinICSI · 19/01/2024 14:07

@Always28 and @Warrier87 exciting you’ve had your transfers! Sending lots of positive vibes and hope you’re able to distract yourselves. 🍀

@Warrier87 I’d say that was an emotional rollercoaster with the embryos but fingers crossed now! 🤞🏻

@Always28 if your Googling gives any answers on how to make it work, please share 😂

@Lebe14 feeling way better, just got fed up with the bloat but over my wobble now! Hope you’re not disappointed with your scan, 7.4mm is not far off so hopefully good to go by Tues!

I’m finishing up work today until Thursday so going to treat myself to a glass of wine tonight after the week I’ve had and before the transfer on Monday! Need to make it a nice one 😂

Lyrabee · 19/01/2024 16:05

Congrats @Warrier87 and @Always28 - I love the time lapse videos. Glad your transfers went well. Enjoy being PUPO.

My clinic makes me wait 2 weeks so my test date is on Monday.

I've had no symptoms other than cramps and I've driven myself crazy trying to guess if they're in the middle or on the side 🤣 it really is a rollercoaster.

Hi all ☺️
So good to see so many of you post transfer or near transfer, looking forward to start seeing some positives in here ❤️

I had my scan today, all fine so will be starting the progynova tomorrow, they said I take that for 12 days until 31st then add in the progesterone pessaries from 1st feb, with transfer being 6th-8th depending on my lining. But I would be due on my next period on 10th Feb, just feels like it’s quite late to be transferring, but I’m sure they know what they’re doing 😬

is it the same kind of timescales for others who have done the controlled transfers?

Ellenn · 19/01/2024 18:30

@HopefulHead yes this is similar timeline to both my medicated cycles I have done 😊 the timing doesn’t actually correlate with your normal cycle length or anything!

I had my scan today and lining was 7.8mm which they are happy with and booked for transfer on Friday.

I was a bit confused they have asked me to start progesterone tomorrow but it will mean by day of transfer it will be day 7 of progesterone?? Does anyone else’s clinic do this. At my last medicated cycle (at another clinic) my transfer was on day 6.

ive phoned the clinic just to confirm this is the timing and they said that is standard protocol for length of time on progesterone and were really not helpful at reassuring me. any experience from anyone regarding their timings when starting progesterone? All our embryos are day 5 blastocysts.

HopefulHead · 19/01/2024 18:34

Hi @Ellenn Thank you, makes me feel a bit better knowing it’s not just my clinic that don’t follow my ‘natural’ cycle timings.

I’m not sure about the progesterone timings but my clinic said today that I would start progesterone on 1st Feb after doing 12 days of progynova then transfer on 6th or 8th, so if it’s the 8that would be on day 8 of progesterone so guessing 7 days would also be fine?

Ellenn · 19/01/2024 18:39

@HopefulHead all medicated cycles don’t follow your natural cycle at all! Basically medicated will down regulate your natural cycle or turn it off so it means it’s completely controlled by the medication you take. Usually they will time the start of progesterone once your lining on scan is over certain level (for my clinic it is >7mm but others it might be different). You won’t be far behind me! Is this your first FET?

I know the timing of transfer is important, and just hoping that day 7 is not going to be too late (since my embryos were frozen on day 5 blasrocysts). 😳 I wish my clinic were more helpful as they completely dismissed me when I was asking about it

HopefulHead · 19/01/2024 18:51

@Ellenn Thank you for the reassurance 🥰
This is our second FET but the first was natural cycle, I was pretty anxious about doing medicated anyway so that doesn’t help 🫣

Its hard to just out all of your trust in the clinics isn’t it; even though we know they MUST know what they’re doing, it all just feels so overwhelming and it’s so important for us to have the best chance of it working that it’s hard not to question everything isn’t it!

Lebe14 · 21/01/2024 16:40

@Warrier87 congrats on the transfer. Sorry to hear one frosty didn't make it ☹️ that's good you had 2 more. I'm so worried about my 2 not making it.... that's all we have! Hope you're getting on okay? When are you planning to test? Yeah lining is getting there. Really hoping it will be thicker on Tuesday so we can get a date in.

@DublinICSI I can't lie, I was really hoping it was thick enough to start progesterone and have a date for the FET. However, I was only on oestrogen for 8 days at that point, so that's not bad going. Fingers crossed everything looks good on Tuesday. How are you feeling about tomorrow? Hope it goes well and enjoy your time off work!

@Lyrabee good luck for test day tomorrow!

@HopefulHead in terms of timings, my clinic mentioned I'd likely be on oestrogen for 10 days, then add in the progesterone, with the FET being on day 6 of that. Based on that, my natural cycle would mean I'd be due around 4/5 days after FET - so like you said. But I believe because it's medicated it's all controlled by that.

HopefulHead · 21/01/2024 17:30

Thanks @Lebe14 😘 definitely reassuring to know that other clinics work the same!
🤞🏼 your lining will have thickened up by your next scan so they can book you in! And hopefully I won’t be far behind you ☺️

Ellenn · 21/01/2024 18:10

@Lebe14 when is your next scan? My clinic were happy that my lining was over 7mm so booked in for transfer on Friday! My only worry is it is on day 7 of progesterone which seems quite late! If you have only done 8 days that’s amazing though! Took me 14 days to get to 7.8mm 😳

brainstorming now what is everything thinking of doing/currently doing during TWW to help pass the time/keep you distracted? I was going to do one of the meditation courses on headspace as think it may help stop me overthinking everything ….

Lyrabee · 21/01/2024 20:45

Thanks @Lebe14 I'm nervous to test tomorrow. I'm dreading the blank square.
These were our last embryos so if not positive will have to do another collection.

I'm distracting myself with a book tonight x

Ellenn · 21/01/2024 21:31

@Lyrabee well done for holding off till OTD!!! Proper will power! I hope you see those two lines tomorrow and that embryo sticks 😍 xx

Lyrabee · 21/01/2024 21:42

@Ellenn thank you!
I think waiting had been better this time because they're our last frosties. So I've not wanted to know!

Ellenn · 21/01/2024 21:57

@Lyrabee i know what you mean, just want to stay in the ‘pregnant until proven otherwise’ camp! Hopefully these Frosties will be the ones xx

i will definitely be testing at 9dp5dt 🤣 usually can hold out till then lol so basically 2 wks today I will know 🙈 scary stuff

Lyrabee · 21/01/2024 22:22

@Ellenn I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you!! 🥰

HopefulHead · 22/01/2024 05:18

@Lyrabee Gopd luck with your test today, will keep everything crossed 🤞🏼

Lebe14 · 22/01/2024 08:16

@Ellenn oh wow - that makes me feel better about it, thank you!! Next scan is tomorrow. I've actually started the meditation on Headspace too. It's a little overwhelming as there are so many different courses but I have found them really good so far. I'm a beginner at meditation so it's really helped. Let me know if you find any good ones on there ☺️ my plan for TWW is to continue with that and then also go for some nice easy walks.

@Lyrabee good luck for today! I envy your willpower for not testing earlier - I'm not sure I could do it 😂

Lyrabee · 22/01/2024 08:19

@Lebe14 it was the genuine dread and we were quite distracted after having to put our cat to sleep :(

But we got a line today! I'm not quite sure I believe it and I've got no idea what I do next but it was definitely there! 🥰

DublinICSI · 22/01/2024 08:28

@Lyrabee ah! Well done waiting until today, but that’s great news, so happy for you and your partner!! 💕I know what you mean about no idea what to do next - I was only saying to my friend last week, there’s so much focus on getting pregnant I feel totally unprepared for when it happens 😂 but it’s a nice problem to have - enjoy today, very special!!

Hopefully this is the start of lots of good news in this group…!

@Ellenn im nervous about the TWW too, I went mad last time and we only have one embryo in the freezer so have a lot of hope pinned on this 🙈

@Lebe14 good luck tomorrow, I’m sure by now you’re good to go but I totally understand you wanting to get going already! This whole thing is such a waiting game and patience is not one of my strong suits…

Feeling good but slightly nervous about transfer today as if this doesn’t work, we’re back into a full cycle. Trying to keep my expectations in check also but it is definitely harder this time around for some reason!!

Lebe14 · 22/01/2024 09:31

@Lyrabee congrats - that's wonderful news! Hopefully when you contact your clinic to let them know the good news they'll explain next steps? I'm also so sorry to hear about your cat 😔

@DublinICSI good luck for today!!

HopefulHead · 22/01/2024 12:36

@Lyrabee Congratulations 🥳 amazing news 💕

Warrier87 · 22/01/2024 13:06

Hey all!

@Lyrabee - amazing news! So happy for you. I hope you feel a bit more relaxed. I know what you mean about what comes next. Just a day at a time! It's all coming together now 💕

Ellenn · 22/01/2024 14:23

@Lyrabee so happy to hear this news 😍 hopefully the first of many this month!!! Have your clinics given you a scan date? I always found that wait actually almost worse than the 2ww
