FET January 2024

Anyone else planning going through embryo transfer in January? Would love to hear from others on this journey.

We last did an embryo transfer in July 2022, which was unsuccessful and had a previous two transfers, one unsuccessful and one resulting in miscarriage. As those were our only embryos I've been through 2 ECs this year and now have 8 euploid embryos! It's been a long journey and I'm very hopeful for this next transfer 🤞

Hi @Ccp7 Sorry to hear your current cycle has failed 😞 sending lots of love and strength ❤️

Lebe14 · 09/12/2023 15:03

Sorry to hear that @Ccp7 - fingers crossed things change at test date and you get your BFP.

@HopefulHead sorry that your first FET didn't work ☹️ Have you many frozen embryos left? We only got 2 from our first cycle and we're transferring both. I've been prescribed x4 progynova (oestrogen) per day then for progesterone x3 cycolgest pessaries per day and x1 lubion injection per day. I got everything from Asda - cost was £240. Much cheaper than other quotes I got. Oh but Asda don't do needles, so I bought them online separately but they're not expensive x

HopefulHead · 10/12/2023 18:54

@Lebe14 Thank you for that, that’s really helpful, is the Lublion to stop ovulation or is there another for that?
I have a load of needles left over from the stims so that shouldn’t be an issue ☺️

We got 4 frozen, 3 good quality and 1 poor, 1 already used, so next transfer will be another good quality, then they said if that failed they’d put the final 2 in together - guessing as there isn’t much chance of the low quality one working - it’s a 2BB - a lot of clinics don’t freeze that low of a grade by the looks of it!
They were also all 6 day blasts which looking online seems to make them less likely to work so I’m not overly optimistic about our chances 🫣

Lebe14 · 10/12/2023 20:20

@HopefulHead lubion is additional progesterone. I think the oestrogen is what stops the ovulation.... but I'm not 100% sure 😂 I just take whatever my consultant prescribes me haha.

That's great you got 4 frozen. I wouldn't say a 2BB is low at all and definitely worth a good go!! My 2 are low: 4BC and 2BC (my clinic called them 'average' but they're definitely 'low') and they're also day 6s like yours! That's why my consultant has recommended we transfer both together, and then move onto the next cycle. She's very honest - I like that. I wouldn't worry about having day 6s - if they're good enough to freeze, they're good enough to try ☺️

Is this your first cycle? I've been thinking of this first cycle being a 'trial and error' so I'm not expecting too much from it. If anything does happen, I'll be pleasantly surprised! X

HopefulHead · 10/12/2023 22:43

@Lebe14 Ahh ok I see! We have our appt in a couple of weeks so hopefully we’ll find out then!

Yeah. This was our first cycle but funding finished after our first transfer so we’re paying now, and I’m quite nervous thinking if it goes in to a second round how much money it will be 😬

Lebe14 · 11/12/2023 21:51

@HopefulHead it's worth seeing if your clinic do multi cycle packages or I think there are some 0% finance options at some clinics too. We're on a multi cycle which for some reason makes me feel less pressure with this cycle. That will however change for cycle 2 and cycle 3.....! It's so annoying how some of us have to pay so much money to get something that others get for free (initially, anyway) 😂 - but hopefully it'll be worth it for us all xx

Hopingforno2in2024 · 12/12/2023 08:19

We are with access fertility and have paid for two fresh cycles and unlimited FETs from those cycles. it does take the pressure off a little.

Paperwork appointment today for my FET.

HopefulHead · 12/12/2023 13:00

@Lebe14 & @Hopingforno2in2024 That sounds like it does definitely take the pressure off having a multi cycle package!
We will pay for the remaining Frosties we have to be transferred but if we did need to then have a whole new cycle I think I’d definitely look in to a multi cycle then!

Good luck with your appointment today!

localbunny · 12/12/2023 14:57

Hey, I'd love to join the thread. I had my first (and most recent) FET in July 2023 and it failed. I have 5 embryos awaiting transfer (not tested) and am trying to get together some positive energy for a January FET #2!!

HopefulHead · 12/12/2023 15:31

Hey @localbunny Similar to me then :) first FET in July that failed, 3 left in the freezer, next FET Jan (hopefully 🤞🏼)

Hopingforno2in2024 · 12/12/2023 15:35

Good luck @localbunny!

Paperwork all signed, just have to wait for a letter in the post now giving medication details and dates. Going to try and forget about it until after Christmas :)

localbunny · 12/12/2023 15:52

@HopefulHead very similar! I was also an OHSS risk and did Natural last time so we've been on a parallel journey haha. I did try for a transfer in September but got Covid so it was cancelled. I'm keen to try medicated this time... due to a medical condition they're reluctant to give me the oestrogen, but Covid has really impacted my cycles so thinking of asking again!

Wishing you all the best for transfer two, I found the first failure after a fairly successful egg collection a real knock to be honest. Trying to think of it as a numbers game but this is our final NHS funded transfer so keeping everything crossed :)

Thanks @Hopingforno2in2024 ! Hope you have a lovely restful Christmas now that paperwork is done.

HopefulHead · 13/12/2023 05:39

@Hopingforno2in2024 Ah I bet that’s great to know you’re on the way 🥰 and good you can try and not have to think about it until after Xmas now ☺️
our appointment is next Wednesday so a bit too close to Xmas I think 🤭

@localbunny Yeah I think I was quite naive with our last transfer and just kinda presumed it would work, so I understand what you mean, it throws you when it doesn’t go to plan doesn’t it lol.
Hopefully they will let you try medicated so at least you’ve tried both ways and can see which suits you better for future, but hopefully it’s long in the future as your next one works 🤞🏼

botsytots · 20/12/2023 21:22

How is everyone doing? @HopefulHead hope the appointment went well today 😊

Ive got an appointment with my consultant on 8th Jan and expecting my period around mid Jan so will start the prices then - it feels like ages away but I'm sure will fly by and nice to have Christmas in between!

Process not prices!

Ccp7 · 20/12/2023 21:34

@botsytots hiya! I’m the same. I am due on AF on 9 Jan so will start baseline scans on the 11th. 2nd time lucky here we go…

hope you have a lovely Christmas! X

botsytots · 20/12/2023 21:41

@Ccp7 so exciting! Nice to have someone else following similar timings ☺️ will make sure to check in with you in January once we start the process. Wish you a lovely relaxing Christmas! X

Hi All
Hope I'm okay dropping in, I wasn't sure whether to join another transfer chat but it's great to have support, everyone in my previous group has had success now.

I did my collection march 23 with a fresh transfer and then a further 3 single transfers with frosties. All failed.

We have 2 left which we are having transferred together in Jan. My clinic doesn't really grade but one is slightly lower quality than the other. Just waiting my cycle starting now so I can start the medications - expecting it to be next week - Merry Christmas!

All my transfers have been medicated so happy to answer questions. They've changed mine slightly over cycles but I'm now on estrogen patches every other day and lubion once a day plus a cyclogest once a day.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 21/12/2023 08:43

Good luck @Lyrabee!

AF has arrived so will call clinic in a bit.

HopefulHead · 21/12/2023 09:37

Hey @botsytots Thanks for remembering 🥰

Appointment went well! We collected our prescription (£102 for prostap and progynova - had cyclogest leftover from EC), so I will be taking the prostap injection on 3rd Jan, hopefully then getting AF 1-2 weeks later and transfer 3 weeks after that, so looking at transfer the beginning of Feb all going well 🤞🏼

Hopingforno2in2024 · 21/12/2023 11:59

Clinic just called and I have my schedule!

Injection of Gonal Peptil on 10th Jan
Baseline scan 22nd Jan
Start HRT and another scan 1st Feb
Transfer week commencing 5th Feb

I’m exactly one week behind you it looks like @HopefulHead!

HopefulHead · 21/12/2023 12:03

@Hopingforno2in2024 Ahh exciting 😁😁
My clinic don’t give me exact dates past my date to inject, I wish they did so I could be a little more prepared! Haha But at least I have a rough schedule!

botsytots · 21/12/2023 13:22

Glad it went well @HopefulHead ! @Hopingforno2in2024 exciting that you've got your schedule - sounds like a lot of us will be transferring in late Jan / early Feb 😊

@Lyrabee I'm so sorry to hear about the failed transfers and my fingers are crossed for a successful transfer in January for you 🤞 I've had 2 failed transfers and 1 additional transfer that resulted in miscarriage so I know how disappointing it is when a transfer doesn't work 😞

OP posts:
Lyrabee · 23/12/2023 00:36

Thank you @botsytots - it's definitely a roller coaster of emotions.

My consultant has said if this double doesn't work we will do a 'fake' round to test my womb lining and then another collection which we will have tested before freezing. Its just frustrating because she keeps saying 'you're still younh' as if that makes it easier (I'm 35).

botsytots · 23/12/2023 19:05

I really hope this next transfer works for you @Lyrabee and hopefully you don't have to go through the additional testing! I think I had the womb lining test you've mentioned - is it the Emma Alice test?
