Anyone else planning going through embryo transfer in January? Would love to hear from others on this journey.

We last did an embryo transfer in July 2022, which was unsuccessful and had a previous two transfers, one unsuccessful and one resulting in miscarriage. As those were our only embryos I've been through 2 ECs this year and now have 8 euploid embryos! It's been a long journey and I'm very hopeful for this next transfer 🤞

@Warrier87 congratulations 🥰 sorry to hear about the wee embaby that didn’t make it though xx

congrats on the others on the thread who also have positives!

my OTD is tomorrow but I snuck in a cheeky test at 9dp5dt on Sunday and a medichecks test and my transfer worked 😁 I’m really hoping it stays and is viable. Got my scan in 2 weeks time xx

Emmyanddreams · 08/02/2024 13:20

@Warrier87 congratulations! Sorry to hear about the one that didn't make it. Very bittersweet indeed xx

@Ellenn congratulations to you too! Love seeing all these wonderful updates ☺️

HE90 · 08/02/2024 14:45

@Emmyanddreams good luck with your transfer. I’m sure a cold can’t do too much damage. Sending positive thoughts.

@Warrier87 sorry for the loss of one of them, as you said, a bitter sweet moment 🙏🏼 Are you taking progesterone? I’ve got cramping and worried that the progesterone would stop bleeding if something bad has happened? I’m 6 weeks today but have another 1.5 weeks until my scan

HE90 · 08/02/2024 14:46

@Ellenn missed your post. Congratulations!! 🤩

Warrier87 · 08/02/2024 18:11

Thanks everyone!

@Ellenn - exciting news! So happy for you. Hope these 2 weeks are chilled for you 🫶

@Emmyanddreams - thanks lovely

@HE90- so yes on BD pessaries. And alternate days of IM progesterone.

I really didn't have a cramp, more like a soreness in the pelvic region. Like you're about to start your period and then I had some spotting.

With the cramps - Have you spoken to your clinic? Mine were pretty good and booked me in asap. Also you do have the option of your GP for EPU locally.

Emmyanddreams · 08/02/2024 18:58

I had my transfer today and it well. However I'm feeling pretty shocking, high temperatures all round in our house ☹️

HopefulHead · 09/02/2024 10:33

I’m trying to decide what day to reliably test before OTD and wondering if any of you have opinions on when I can realistically get a true result?
We were thinking Valentine’s Day (as we have plans so will either be a celebration or a distraction from the upset), I’ll be 8dp5dt, I’ve seen online you can get positives from 4/5 dp5dt so thinking 8dp will be long enough to be reliable? What do you all think?

Lyrabee · 09/02/2024 10:41

@Warrier87 that's definitely bittersweet but one is there and that's incredible. I'm so nervous for my scan on Tuesday. I should be 7 weeks now.

@HopefulHead I feel like 8dp5dt should be enough but also I don't think anyone can say for definite as if it's a late I planter, your hcg might not be high enough. I would do it the day after valentines so you can enjoy your night and not have it spoiled! But that's just me :)

Ellenn · 09/02/2024 10:55

@HopefulHead i always like doing it on 9dp5dt as that’s technically when you are bang on 4 wks ie most pregnancy tests should be fairly accurate. I’ve always had a clear result then but as others have said potentially you might get later implantation. I just hate seeing faint lines as it’s so difficult to work out are they getting darker and I just get obsessed. Suppose it depends how you think you’d feel getting a faint positive if testing earlier? I hope you get your BFP x

@Lyrabee I hope your scan goes well 😁 I’m so nervous for my first one and it’s still so far away 🙈

@Emmyanddreams the week after my transfer I came down with a flu/cold and felt awful for a good week. Still got a positive test! I remember panicking that being ill was going to affect the success but everything I found online was like it will happen either way usually has no impact. I hope you feel better soon though x

Lyrabee · 09/02/2024 11:19

Thanks @Ellenn I'm sure it will be here before you know it but it does feel like an awful long wait! Especially since if it goes well we will be sent over to the NHS and it will be an even longer wait for the 12 week scan and prob be more like week 14.

I've also had a rotten cold so all I'm doing is telling myself I havent eaten well and I've not drunk enough and I have no symptoms except cold ones. I'm on proper countdown.

Emmyanddreams · 09/02/2024 11:51

@HopefulHead with my fresh transfer I was soooo impatient and tested at 5dpt!! I got a clear positive but I think I was very lucky. If you can hold out I definitely would as you don't want to risk being disappointed when it could still be positive. I say this but I know this time round I'll be impatient again!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Ellenn thanks. You're right, if it's meant to be a bad cold probably won't stop it from happening xx

Ellenn · 09/02/2024 13:00

@Lyrabee i know 🙈im quite lucky as my consultant has said due to my previous losses i can get extra scans at the EPU so will definitely be taking up their offer! I hope you feel better soon, sounds like it’s going round everyone at the moment!

Ccp7 · 09/02/2024 14:54

@Lebe14 how are you getting on? Xx

HopefulHead · 09/02/2024 15:32

Thanks all, think I may try and wait it out for 9dp then! I’ve managed to get 2 FRER’s so hopefully taking it a couple of days before OTD will still give me a correct answer 😬🤞🏼
Im just so scared of having one big heap of disappointment on ORD rather than being a bit more prepared if I’ve already had a. Negative 😬

Emmyanddreams · 13/02/2024 05:54

As predicted I caved this morning and tested at 5dpt! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I couldn't get hold of a FRER (have they been discontinued?!) so I had to use Clearblue which I hear gives false positive.

Anyway, within 3 minutes I could see this line ☺️ Fingers crossed it's a real line.
I'm going to go and get some Boots test as I've heard these are similar to FRER.

HE90 · 13/02/2024 09:30

@Lyrabee good luck with your scan today.

@Emmyanddreams congratulations! I can definitely see a line. I thought the same about FRERS, I got mine on Amazon as I couldn’t find them in a shop anywhere, so odd.

I have some bleeding and cramping the last 12 hours so feeling pretty rubbish. I called the clinic and have a scan tomorrow morning. Feeling very anxious and negative about it all, not quite sure how I will manage a day at work today.

kateb24 · 13/02/2024 10:04

Congratulations @Emmyanddreams thats great news!

I've had a rubbish time recently, I decided to do another clearable digi test on Sunday hoping to see some weeks progression, I was so gutted and shocked for it to read 'not pregnant'. I've had a chemical and started bleeding that evening, so would have found out either way. Just so gutted when you've had a positive result. Sending love and positive vibes to you @HE90 its such a scary time, really hope you have some good news at your scan - have you done another test?

My clinic have been super on it and have us booked in for our next cycle for ER as we've used our last embryos. It's good to have something else to focus on but just such a tough long journey. Onwards we go!

Lyrabee · 13/02/2024 12:46

@HE90 could they not get you in today? I'm sorry, I hope its all okay and just having a moment. Have the cramps stopped?

I'm so sorry @kateb24 that's hard to hear but I'm glad they're on it and getting you prepped for your next collection. Take time for yourself to relax.

My scan went well, one embryo had implanted and sitting cosy at 7weeks 5 days, we saw the little heart fluttering which was quite overwhelming. She had a good rummage around to make sure the second one hadnt implanted anywhere else. Clinic have said they don't need to see me again so I've registered with the midwives at the local hospital but I have to continue my medication until 12 weeks.

HE90 · 13/02/2024 13:03

Oh @kateb24 in so sorry, it’s horrible when you get the positive and then that changes 😔 it’s a horrible journey but pleased you’ve got a plan to look forward to. I haven’t done another test, I did at the weekend and it still said 3+ but I feel it wouldn’t give me any answers today as i’m sure it would still be positive.

@Lyrabee so pleased for you, what a lovely feeling for you. Hopefully you can rest assured for the next 5 weeks and it’s not too much of an anxious wait for you.
The clinic said that they could scan if it got worse but they said tomorrow would show more accurate results of what is happening. The cramps are more of a dull ache today and I haven’t had any more bleeding, just some brown discharge this morning but it was mixed in with the cyclogest (sorry, TMI) horrible waiting game but that’s IVF for you!

Lyrabee · 13/02/2024 13:13

@HE90 aah that makes sense to be fair. At least the cramping has eased. Dis you have 1 or 2 transferred? Keeping all my fingers crossed for you.

I definitely didn't sleep well last night, I was so sure something had gone wrong so got a bit emotional when she said it was there. I'm still not quite believing it.

Emmyanddreams · 13/02/2024 14:57

@kateb24 I'm really sorry. I've had multiple chemicals so I know how truly horrible they are. I'm paranoid this time might be the same.

@HE90 I'm keeping everything crossed for you. The fact you haven't had any more bleeding is hopefully a positive thing. Wishing you all the best at your scan.

@Lyrabee that's wonderful news. I hope you can relax for a bit now x

Lyrabee · 14/02/2024 12:09

@HE90 hope your appointment goes okay today x

HE90 · 14/02/2024 12:14

@Lyrabee @Emmyanddreams thank you. The scan went well and we saw baby’s little heart beat ❤️ can’t believe it, I was sure it was the end of the road for me. They couldn’t say why there had been bleeding but they were happy with what they saw. I have my booked scan next week which they said they would keep for me.

Positive thoughts to everyone x

Lyrabee · 14/02/2024 12:24

@HE90 wonderful news! So glad all okay and you get another scan next week for peace of mind 😌

I've just had my first antenatal appointment through for next Friday. Hopefully then it will feel more real!

Emmyanddreams · 14/02/2024 12:37

@HE90 oh that's such amazing news. I'm so glad it was all looking good. It must have been such a relief. ☺️ x
