FET January 2024

Anyone else planning going through embryo transfer in January? Would love to hear from others on this journey.

We last did an embryo transfer in July 2022, which was unsuccessful and had a previous two transfers, one unsuccessful and one resulting in miscarriage. As those were our only embryos I've been through 2 ECs this year and now have 8 euploid embryos! It's been a long journey and I'm very hopeful for this next transfer 🤞

@Kfish56 not at all - it's such a hard wait to go through isn't it.... try to be positive - so many people have no symptoms at all during the TWW and get positives on OTD. Equally, many people have every symptom under the sun but unfortunately don't get a positive on OTD. There's no rhyme or reason, so you're definitely not out xx

Hi everyone, I'm joining this chat if that's ok?

I'm doing my first FET this week. It's a true natural transfer so really hoping all the timings work out.
I had my day 12 scan last week and my lining was 9mm 👍 Yesterday (day 15) I got my positive LH surge so they have booked in my transfer for this Thursday. I can tell I've ovulated today, always feel it and I immediately dry up.
So what I was wondering was how common is it to have a FET 4 days after ovulation? I keep reading about 5 or even 6 days after ovulation. So confused!

Caubabatko · 04/02/2024 20:15

Quick update, day 13 test with a test strip from Boots: BFP!
HCG tomorrow for result on Tuesday.

Apparently someone from another forum said leaned on her GP because of spotting and her clinic wouldn't test HCG and GP did it two days apart for reassurance. I'm going to try this after self funding tomorrow's (£80!) because I've been getting light-dark brown discharge ever since last Tuesday and it's worrying me.

Welcome! Are you transferring a Day 3 8-cell embryo as opposed to a Day 5/6 blastocyst? Then 4 days after ovulation would make sense as the timing tlof transfer should mirror the developmental stage of embryo. But best to check with your clinic!

Ellenn · 04/02/2024 21:07

@Emmyanddreams my last transfer was natural and based off ovulation tests and my transfer was 7 days from positive ovulation test. This was for a day 5 blastocyst transfer but as @Caubabatko said you might be earlier if you have day 3 embryos? Hope all goes well x

Emmyanddreams · 04/02/2024 21:17

@Caubabatko @Ellenn no it's a 5 day blastocyst. Every appointment running up to this they have said it would be 5 days after a positive opt, I just never thought to question it before. I wonder why my clinic it's different

Ellenn · 04/02/2024 21:41

@Emmyanddreams different clinics can have quite different protocols as my clinic also do transfers in medicated cycles on day 7 of progesterone (I believe lots of clinics will do on day 5/6 for blastocyst) 🤷‍♀️definitely worth double checking the timing with them just incase any mistake though x

Lyrabee · 04/02/2024 23:23

@Emmyanddreams it seems they're going off your surge yesterday? That would be 5 days to Thursday.
I guess because when you get a surge it can be anywhere in the next 24 hours that you actually release the egg?

I'm not sure though the clinic should be able to clarify - I'm sure they've worked it out right for you though:)

HopefulHead · 05/02/2024 05:55

@Emmyanddreams I did a completely natural fet last time with a blast and they did the transfer 7 days after my LH surge, which I was concerned was too long after but they insisted this was the norm as the surge indicates ovulation 24 hours later.

I’m sure they will have calculated depending on your specific circumstances but it’s always worth just asking the reasoning behind it to put your mind at rest if it is making you feel anxious.

Wishing you all the best 💕

lori2019 · 05/02/2024 09:42

@Emmyanddreams have the clinic test your progesterone the morning of transfer or day before if possible. If it's too low they can delay the transfer by a day and possibly supplement you with pesseries.

Emmyanddreams · 05/02/2024 09:44

@lori2019 I am due to start pessaries this afternoon so I assume progesterone will be fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

Emmyanddreams · 05/02/2024 09:48

Thanks everyone. I'm sure I'm probably worrying for no reason. I mean they must know what they're doing! We were successful with our fresh transfer and I remember worrying then too!!

Yay @Caubabatko!!! That's a really good shout about speaking to GP for blood tests...! I managed to get a blood test for vitamin d and thyroid through my GP with a written request from my private IVF clinic. They had no issues with it. Wonder if they'd accept that route too??

@Emmyanddreams I'm afraid I have no experience of natural transfers - but sounds like others have been able to help and I wish you all the luck in the world!

I got another faint positive on a frer this morning. Pleased there is still a line and yesterday's wasn't a fluke. Hopefully the line starts to darken a little tomorrow. I think HCG usually rises a lot in 48 hours - is that right?? Anyway, I've felt soooooo emotional today. Not felt like this during the FET so don't think it's the oestrogen and progesterone as surely I would've felt like this before. I feel overly emotional and sensitive, the way I sometimes feel before my period arrives but worse.... I really really hope that's not the case.

X

HopefulHead · 06/02/2024 11:51

Transfer went well this morning 🥰 now for the wait 😬
hope you’re all doing well 😘

Lyrabee · 06/02/2024 14:54

@HopefulHead aah good news! Enjoy your time in the pupo club 😊 hope the next two weeks goes fast for you!

HopefulHead · 06/02/2024 15:38

@Lyrabee Thank you 🥰

HE90 · 06/02/2024 16:21

@HopefulHead congrats!! Look after
yourself for the next couple of weeks?

@Kfish56 how are you doing?

@Caubabatko amazing news, congratulations. I hope all went well with your HCG!!

I’ve had pretty bad nausea for the past 2 days, always wished for this feeling but trying to work is not fun!!

How is everyone else?

@Emmyanddreams I’ve only done medicated but I’m sure the clinic would check the dates are right, it’s such a worrying time. Wishing you the best of luck 🍀

Caubabatko · 06/02/2024 17:28

@HE90 I haven't been able to keep up with the thread during my TWW but belated congrats:)

My hCG came back just now, 1300 IU/L, within the range of 5w post LMP, which is where I am although I was technically 4w+5 for this test.
I've been having persistent spotting and mild cramping so I went to my GP, I have an early pregnancy scan booked for 6w - a little too early I guess but because it's for the bleeding and ectopic concerns, they obviously wanted to slot me in early but I might try to reschedule it.

Kfish56 · 06/02/2024 17:53

@HE90 I’m fine thank you. I am 100% sure the transfer failed so just waiting till Sunday to test so I can stop taking the medication.
hope all is going well for you xx

botsytots · 06/02/2024 18:33

@HopefulHead congrats on transfer! Hope your tww goes well.

I had my transfer on Friday and have been trying to keep my mind off it but can't help but symptom spot 😭 sometimes I feel like I'm getting symptoms that could be a good sign and today I felt like I had pms symptoms.
OTD is next Tuesday so going to try and hold out till then but it's so tempting to test

HE90 · 07/02/2024 19:57

@Caubabatko that’s a great number. I
hope the scan goes ok. I’ve had a lot more cramping the past couple of days which has really freaked me out. Not as much nausea today so feel like something has gone wrong. Trying to stay positive but everyone on here knows this journey makes us crazy 🤪 I have 2 weeks until my scan.

@botsytots the symptom spotting is just awful. I really hope time doesn’t go too slow for you. Look after yourself, that’s my only advice x

Emmyanddreams · 08/02/2024 06:52

Congratulations on all of those who have got their positive. Fantastic news!!

Good luck to those waiting to test 🤞🤞🤞

I have my transfer today. The week hasn't gone to plan. I know I really shouldn't complain about this but I was up all night with my one year old who has an awful cold, which has now been passed to me. I was hoping to go into this feeling good. Ah well, what will be will be! x

HopefulHead · 08/02/2024 08:22

@Emmyanddreams Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough night :(
Hopefully you’ll be able to relax on the drive & wait at the hospital 🤞🏼
Hope it all goes smoothly for you x

Warrier87 · 08/02/2024 11:34

Hey all!

So nice to see some many updates and positives! 💕

A bit about mine, 3 weeks post 2 frozen embryo transfer (est 6 weeks tomorrow). And yesterday had some spotting and slight cramping. Rang my clinic yesterday evening and went in for a scan today.

Some bitter sweet news- unfortunately one did not make it, but the other did, and we got to see the heart flicker away too 💕... bit of unreal moment 🫶....
