@loulamay we went down the donor egg route for our last 3 rounds. I did loads of research beforehand to find the right clinic and we had to go through counselling to make sure it was the right option for us. We explored treatment in the UK but found there were few clinics that provide this option and the ones that did had limited donors to choose from and long waiting lists.
Luckily our local clinic (the one that blessed us with our DD) offered a package in partnership with a clinic over in northern Cyprus. The clinic guarantees you will receive a minimum of 10 eggs and frozen embryos by the end of it should you wish to do a FET if the fresh round failed.
Also the laws recently changed in the UK which @Olivia199 touched on earlier. This means children can access their donor info once they turn 18. Our clinic said it has put a lot of people off donating which was the reason for limited access to donors. These laws don’t affect northern Cyprus.
In all fairness this wasn’t our reason for choosing this clinic as there are so many sites out there where people can pay to trace their routes. It really came down to their success figures (75-80%) and it gave us reassurance that we were still with our local clinic who have been amazing throughout everything ❤️
Regarding donor info…it was really sparse. They carry out in depth screening and keep info to a minimum (height, eye colour, hair colour, weight, ethnicity). You can make special request such as straight hair/curly hair. They then match you to 2 donors. If you don’t feel either are right for you they match you to another 2 donors and so on. It was such a difficult decision to make as on paper they all seemed the same.
@ttcsolomumtobe i love how you had a sperm party…what an amazing idea and great to get support from friends and family on choosing your baby daddy! 😊
