Hey everyone.
So I’m just getting ready to start my second round of ICSI after suffering a MMC last Aug.
I have 2 more weeks of Norethisterone before I await the important bleed and then start my injections, yippee!

I was so chilled when I received my protocol and now I’m getting a little nervous as I know what’s to come. Unfortunately none of the embryos from our last round were high enough quality to freeze so we are starting from scratch. I’m preying for higher quality this time but I guess that’s out of our hands.

I wanted to start a thread as I know how helpful it was on my first round and it’s nice to know your not alone in what can seem like a very isolating process ❤️

@Sxd515 Ooo you're so strong not testing yet! The pessimist in me tested early to get the disappointment over and done with, if I'd thought it would be +ve I'd never have tested! But luckily, Monday isn't too far away now, so you just have to get through the weekend. Any plans to keep yourself distracted? I won't be having a second beta, so I just have to wait for my scan now.

@Glitterandunicorns Thank you. I'm really thinking maybe I should have counselling. I worry that if I feel nothing now, I won't feel anything when the baby is here and then I'd have postnatal depression 😔 Good luck with tomorrows news on your embryos 🤞

@ty1982 That's such a good idea, having something literally spell it out for you! How have you been handling it? What's next stage for you? Will you be having an early scan?

Sxd515 · 13/05/2022 11:28

@unCliche my resolve is being severely tested today. I feel ill probably cave this weekend and test. Will be 7dp5dt tomorrow. I'm so tired today but it's the end of a long week and work so could be the reason why!

@ty1982 eek lovely picture!

ty1982 · 13/05/2022 12:11

@unCliche @Sxd515 thanks for the message. So next steps for me are OTD Sunday call clinic Monday and book in for my scan. So nervous just praying it all works out.

How are you both?

unCliche · 13/05/2022 13:18

@Sxd515 I don't want to be the devil on your shoulder, but I'm loudly whispering "test!" over here 😈😂

@ty1982 Aww the first scan will be so special. I hope I get overwhelmed with emotions and start crying 😂 But I defo agree with how nerve-racking it is! Having to just sit tight and hope that everything is progressing as it should. I'm trying to believe that things will work out and we'll get to meet our babies at the end of this journey 💕

Glitterandunicorns · 13/05/2022 15:09

@unCliche if you're able to have counselling, then perhaps it would help you to speak about things with an independent person.

Is it possible that your feelings at the moment are a way of protecting yourself in case (God forbid) things don't work out?

@ty1982 it must be so lovely to see the words!

Glitterandunicorns · 14/05/2022 09:02

Morning all.

Just had a call from the hospital. On Thursday (day 3), we had 5 embryos. Today is day 5. Of the 5, we have one excellent grade one that will be going into the freezer. We have one that they weren't sure about so they will grow it on for another day and see how it looks tomorrow (but I'm not hopeful).

The other three weren't going to survive the freezing process.

Although we're a little disappointed, I'm so relieved that we have one excellent one to freeze. With having to do freeze-all this time round, I was worried we weren't going to get anything to freeze, so I think it's really positive to have such a good one.

I hope you're all doing well. X

Sxd515 · 14/05/2022 10:35

@Glitterandunicorns that's great news on your one making it to the freezer and fingers crossed for the second! Do you know when you'll be able to have your FET?

@unCliche the temptation got too much. Took two tests this morning. Will try and upload a photo. Obviously now terrified and wish Monday's blood test would hurry up!

Glitterandunicorns · 14/05/2022 12:59

@Sxd515 omg that's so exciting! Congratulations!

Thank you! I don't know when I'll be able to have my FET yet. They said that oestrogen levels should go back down to normal levels in a few months but I don't know if it will involve more medication prior to the transfer.

They said they'll call me to discuss it once we'd seen what happens with our embryos, so I hope to find out more in the next few days! X

unCliche · 14/05/2022 13:15

@Glitterandunicorns yeah I suppose it's a self-preservation thing. I'll see how I feel after my first scan and if I still feel nothing then counselling will defo be on the table.

Amazing news about your embryo! Congrats on getting something in the freezer! I hope the other one makes it for freezing. IVF worked for me with a 4BB embryo so with an excellent grade blast you have every chance of success! Gosh I can't believe you have to wait for a few months to do the FET. I would have thought you could go ahead with your next cycle?? How are you feeling? Any symptoms of OHSS?

@Sxd515 eeeeeeek! That's amazing! Congratulations!! I'm sure your numbers will be great on Monday! Look at that line 😍

Sxd515 · 14/05/2022 14:20

@Glitterandunicorns @unCliche thank you!x

ty1982 · 14/05/2022 22:33

@Glitterandunicorns so glad you have an excellent one to freeze after all you've been through. @Sxd515 so happy for you, so wonderful seeing those words. My OTD is tomorrow can't wait to call the clinic on Monday and get the next step booked.

NatAla25 · 15/05/2022 14:09

Hi all,

We’re just about to start our first round of IVF. Going for baseline bloods and scans tomorrow as my period started yesterday but has since stopped which has never happened before so I’m a little concerned. Took a pregnancy test this morning just in case as no bleeding overnight and a little bit of spotting today so don’t know what’s going on. Had a catheter test last Tuesday so don’t know if that’s done something and caused a blockage but worried our treatment will be delayed now.

Just needed somewhere to get this off my chest as there is no one to contact at the hospital to ask.

Thanks for reading.

Glitterandunicorns · 15/05/2022 17:17

@unCliche thank you! How are you?

The hospital confirmed today that it'll def only be the one for freezing as the one they were monitoring won't survive the freezing process. We did expect that, so perfectly happy to have one good one that is safely tucked away in the freezer as we speak!

We'll find out this week from the nurses there what the plan is for transfer. They said it just depends on how quickly my oestrogen levels go back down to normal.
It's really hard to know what is potential OHSS and what is the Covid. I feel so poorly and still a bit bloated but it's probably just the Covid as I've had no decreased urine output which is one of the indicators they said to watch for.

@Sxd515 how exciting that you'll have your blood test tomorrow!

@ty1982 did you have your test done today?

Glitterandunicorns · 15/05/2022 17:23

@NatAla25 I'm sorry you're concerned. I know the whole IVF thing is so nerve wracking, especially when you're almost ready to start, that the thought of anything causing delays is bound to be stressful.

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry for tonight. They'll know from your scans and blood test what is going on.

I don't know if this helps you, but on this IVF cycle, my period was a bit slow in starting properly and they did a quick scan on what I thought was day 2 and could see from my lining that it was just being tricksy and that I could expect to bleed as normal within the next day or so. Sure enough, the following day, my period sorted itself out.

Fingers crossed the hospital can help you figure out what's going on tomorrow.

ty1982 · 15/05/2022 20:39

Hi ladies, just want to ask a rather personal question. How do you feel about sex during the process well after the 2ww do you feel it is safe? I can't remember what I've done before to be honest. Don't won't to disturb anything but then I think I'm sure it will be fine?

Glitterandunicorns · 16/05/2022 07:19

@ty1982 given you'll be a couple of weeks after your transfer. you should be absolutely fine to crack on to your heart's content! Sex can not affect a pregnancy. If there was any risk to you at all, your consultant would have spoken to you about it.

Some clinics say no sex for two weeks after transfer, but you'll be more than that at this point I think?

Girlwholifts · 16/05/2022 08:37

@Sxd515 Congratulations 😍 That line is lovely and bright and there is nothing like seeing those words is there. I hope today goes really smoothly for you. Have you told your other half? I bet you are over the bloody moon.

@ty1982 I was told nothing in the 2ww (just in case) but you can get your groove after that 😏 Hope todays call goes well and you get your scan date etc.

@NatAla25 Try not to worry lovely, Im sure your body will know what to do. Its funny how our bodies can all of a sudden throw us a curve ball when we need them to just be normal. Let us know how you get on 😁fingers crossed for you.

unCliche · 16/05/2022 10:53

@Glitterandunicorns I'm good thanks! Aw sorry the last one didn't make it into the freezer. It's always hit and miss on day 6. I had two stragglers and they didn't make it either, but even if I had nothing left over to freeze, it wouldn't matter because it really only took one! I can't wait to hear how you get on with your FET (hopefully next month!)

Fingers crossed for fast plummeting estrogen! Will you have to go in regularly for blood tests to check? The bloat could be from OHSS but you may be suffering from a really mild case. It sucks you have the OHSS + COVID tag team against you but I hope you get well really soon! And your family too!

@NatAla25 Did your period turn up properly? It's always when you need it to come on time that it starts messing about. For my first IUI cycle, my period decided to come on day 21. Nightmare! Had to wait until the next cycle to start!

@ty1982 I have to wait until my first scan and the hormones are making my libido crazy 😝 How was OTD yesterday? When's your scan booked for?

@Sxd515 Good luck with your beta today!

ty1982 · 16/05/2022 10:58

Morning, had a call the clinic today and have my scan on 27th May. So an anxious 11 day wait. I'll probably do a couple of test in between. X

unCliche · 16/05/2022 11:01

After my beta last week Wednesday I called my clinic to request more progesterone as they only gave me enough to last me through the IVF cycle and I run out tomorrow. Heard nothing back so called again on Saturday, left an email on Sunday and finally today they got back to me and said they were going to have some sent out to arrive for tomorrow. I was really starting to panic. I can't believe I had to chase for something that I literally need to sustain a pregnancy. Madness! I hope your clinics are so much more proactive and have progesterone sent out as soon as they receive your positive beta. Sorry just so annoyed!

ty1982 · 16/05/2022 12:07

@unCliche I have a prescription ready that they have me on transfer day so I will take that to my pharmacy today for them to order.

Did they say how long you will be on progesterone for, they said to me today around 10 weeks keep taking medication until it finishes basically.

CatherineB31 · 16/05/2022 12:09

Negative this morning 5 days past 5 day frozen embryo transfer. I know it's early, but it's hard not to get down and think it'll be another month of negatives. Anyone get a positive - and how long after 5 day FET did you get it?

unCliche · 16/05/2022 16:42

@ty1982 Oh wow less than two weeks, that's so exciting! I have to wait until 31st May so you'll have to let me know what to expect! I wonder if they'll give us photos after the scan - I hope so!
Sounds like your clinic are better organised although I'm NHS funded so I have no idea if that's why it's different for me, either way, it was very frustrating. I'm not sure how long I'll need to take it for, but I'm assuming up to 12 weeks.

How's your spotting situation? Hopefully that's stopped now. Have you been getting any other symptoms? I've felt lightning literally shooting straight down my vagina, makes me jump! 😂

Hi @CatherineB31, it can definitely vary from woman to woman and if we all told you we got our positives at 2dp5dt it wouldn't make you feel any better or help in any way so the best thing you can do is give things a bit more time, it really is still early 💕 When's your OTD?
