@Rachae that's a really good way to think about it. I had a similar plan but now it's gone tits-up I'm devastated. I guess I just need a day or two to process!

Longest 9 days ever! haha, I guess the embryo was 5 days old when it went back in so technically that is 14 days/2 weeks. Not long now xx

Mancbear88 · 24/11/2020 16:52

@MF1981 hope you’re feeling better. In my first cycle I felt similar I was so poorly. I remember reading people saying they went back to work the next day, I couldn’t even sit up!! I cried every time I got up for a wee, my husband nearly called an ambulance on several occasions! And it took weeks before I could walk any distance without a break. And the constipation pain!!!!!!

My oestrogen however is always low so it apparently wasn’t OHSS, so they let me decide if I should transfer and I did. At my 12 week scan there was still free fluid and my ovaries were still very swollen.

I think if I did it again I’d go for a freeze all by choice!

MF1981 · 24/11/2020 17:01

@Jane1284 I completely agree with what @Rachae said and it is 100% about quality rather than quantity. I had 26 follicles and 22 eggs but only 11 were mature so I lost 50% straight away because I over responded to the stimulation meds. And then look how poorly I got from over stimulation. Try and look for the positives hun.

MF1981 · 24/11/2020 17:08

Yes @Mancbear88 it’s been exactly like that! Just horrendous. Today is the first day I’ve been able to stand up straight. My oestrogen was high so it probably was/is OHSS. I’m huge as well - look about 5 months pregnant!

However it’s all been worth it! All 8 of our on target day 3-ers made it to blastocyst stage! Two are grade A, one grade B and one grade C - those 4 are now in the freezer. We also have two Ds and two Es that they’re leaving until tomorrow as they think one of them may catch up and could be frozen tomorrow. I’m absolutely over the moon! I never thought I’d get that many and certainly not as good quality - my old eggs maybe aren’t so bad after all!

Jane1284 · 24/11/2020 17:09

Ah thanks @MF1981. Appreciate the kind words. I hope you are feeling better? Sorry you've been so poorly. This whole process is a lot. x

BrandyM · 24/11/2020 19:59

@Jane1284 so sorry to hear about your scan. However, it looks like all 3 are close together in size so they should all be ready for collection at the same time. And as @Rachae said, it's quality over quantity although I also completely understand that it's hard not to worry about the quantity. I know exactly how that feels.

Interestingly, exactly like @Rachae and @MF1981 alluded to, the nurse yesterday was telling me how they have so many cases with 20-30 follicles but end up with only a handful in the end due to quality. She said it isn't a bad thing to have fewer follicles to start with as your body will then focus on the quality of those. I'm not sure if this is true or if she was trying to make me feel better but thought I'd share it with you in case it helps provide some comfort.

Also, most clinics' cut off is 3 follicles ahead of egg collection so you're on track from that perspective. On my scan tomorrow if I have 3 ready for collection, they'll book me in for Friday collection.

Good luck - I have everything crossed for you 🤞🏽🤞🏽 xx

81Poppy · 24/11/2020 20:03

That's great news @MF1981 I think I remember you saying you were 39 same age as me, this gives me hope as I keep thinking my old eggs will be no good x

MF1981 · 24/11/2020 20:08

@81Poppy yes I’m 39 (for another 4 months anyway 🙈) and I was worried too but I feel like no alcohol for the last few months, better diet, supplements etc must have helped?! 🤷‍♀️

Ofpalestsilver · 24/11/2020 22:15

@Jane1284 sorry to hear that you’re feeling low. As others have said 3 quality eggs are all you need. I know why you’d want strength in numbers but let’s hope the ones you have are able to do their job.

Good luck to everyone else with big days coming up.

This time next week I’ll be unable to sleep ahead of my OTD!

BrandyM · 24/11/2020 23:07

@MF1981 congratulations on your blasts! Similar to what @81Poppy said, it gives me so much hope too. What supplements were you on if you don't mind me asking? X

dragonfly1978 · 25/11/2020 07:54

Think I am out for this month 😥😥. Am 11dp5dt of two high quality blastocysts and had a good positive at 7dp5dt and 9dp5dt but it's so faint this morning on an frer you can hardly see it. Am so upset. OTD isn't until Friday but will stop pessaries today as know I am not pregnant now. Fingers crossed for all of you x

Jane1284 · 25/11/2020 08:13

@BrandyM That's good to hear. Thanks for providing some comfort. I really hope that I get something to transfer. It seems silly that I would be so much happier with 5 than I am with 3 but it just feels hopeless at the moment. I'm praying for a miracle. It's funny, I thought I was so pragmatic with this whole process but now that I am in the middle of it I am an emotional wreck...Sounds like you are on target for EC on Friday. I really hope your scan tomorrow is positive. This time next week you could be preparing for transfer! Good luck to you too x

@MF1981I've just seen your message about your blasts! That is amazing. Multiple to freeze- that's the dream. Glad you are feeling a bit better too. Now to get your body back in top health to prepare for FET. Do they think it will be Jan? So happy for you!

@Ofpalestsilver thank you for your kind words. Let's hope there's a decent one in there! How are you feeling now? Any more symptoms? One week to go! Very exciting.

@dragonfly1978 I'm so sorry you think your test is not positive. Are you able to use a different test later on in the day with a held urine sample? Would it make sense to carry on with the pessaries until OTD and then speak to your clinic? Sending lots of love in this hard and stressful time x

Roo45 · 25/11/2020 08:17

Got a call from the clinic on day 5 we have 2 grade c embryos which is the lowest quality they will transfer. On day 2 we had 5 good/excellent quality. They have suggested to put both back in in the hope 1 sticks and I know there's always a chance but I'm pretty upset

Roo45 · 25/11/2020 08:20

@MF1981 congratulations on the frosties and @dragonfly1978 thinking of you xx

81Poppy · 25/11/2020 08:35

@dragonfly1978 sorry to hear this I have been in your position and it's awful. I wouldn't stop medication until you've had a blood test from the clinic x

Jane1284 · 25/11/2020 08:37

@Roo45 I am so sorry. That must be a real shock after getting such good news on day 2. Embryo grades aren't always the indicator of whether the transfer will work. In my search for positive stories to keep me feeling OK in this awful process I have come across lots of stories where women have transferred high quality embryos and they unfortunately haven't stuck but then go on to use their lower grade embryos and have been successful. I know it must feel like a real kick in the teeth right now but there is most definitely hope! Sending so much positive vibes your way xx

lucymills1234 · 25/11/2020 08:50

Morning all, these recent updates really show the ups and downs of this process, don't they.

@Rachae how have you been feeling since transfer?
@Jane1284 totally empathise with what you said about thinking you're pragmatic until something happens. When I had my baseline scan and was told there was a cyst, all my pragmatism flew out the window! I hope your 3 follicles are the ones for you. Off for my first stims scan today and hoping for the best, but concerned that the lack of any side effects might indicate I'm not responding... so hard in this process not to add 2+2 and get 349.

Roo45 · 25/11/2020 08:51

Thank you so much @Jane1284 I was trying to find your most recent update but I've gone back quite a few pages and can't seem to find it...how is everything going with you at the moment?xx

Roo45 · 25/11/2020 08:54

@Jane1284 sorry it must have been coming up whilst I was typing and I didn't see it...sending positive vibes also for your 3! I totally get the worry but they do say it only takes one at the end of the day xx

MF1981 · 25/11/2020 09:19

Thanks guys! @BrandyM I’ve been taking Pregnacare conception, omega 3, ubiquinol, Vit A and Vit E. Not long to go for you now!

@dragonfly1978 so sorry you feel this way but like others have said it might be worth carrying on with the pessaries until otd? Or speak to your clinic? It might still work.

@Jane1284 we’ve got the review appt with the consultant on Monday so will find out timings then. I know very little about the frozen transfer process to be honest. When is your next scan?

@Roo45 that must have been a shock but try and stay positive - they might thrive in their correct environment!

@lucymills1234 good luck for your scan.

Rachae · 25/11/2020 09:37

Thinking of you @dragonfly1978 xx
@Roo45 I've just got to echo others on here.. I've genuinely not met anyone personally who had a high quality transferred that worked! (Obvs they do and for those that get them this is still amazing) my point being tho.. A lot of my friends have gone through IVF and all had successes with lower quality. My best friend only had an 8 cell embryo to transfer and that's now her 5 year old son. There's a lot of conflicting research out there on how to trust embryo grading anyway. If mine would have been graded, I wouldn't really have cared if it was poor.

@Lucymills1234 how are you? I'm feeling ok thanks.. I don't think I'm preg this time sadly. Won't know until Monday but I've been preg 3 times before and I always get the same symptoms. Got a ton of energy today so I think it's a sign my body is going back to normal. X

EasterBunny7 · 25/11/2020 11:05

@dragonfly1978

Don't give up! Never give up! You never know, it could've been a faulty test, your urine might have been dilute. Test line colours aren't proven to be an indication of strength. Please don't give up taking your pessaries. You can do this! I am with you. You've almost made it to Friday.

Roo45 · 25/11/2020 12:12

Thanks everyone, I think you are all right and o got my hopes up a little after our initial news was so positive. Such a rollercoaster isn't it. They seemed upbeat at the hospital but I suppose they have to be don't they.
Anyway just have to see what happens now. Want to try and take my mind off all things fertility related for a bit so might be less active in the group but will be keeping an eye and wishing everyone the best of luck in this stressful process xx

dragonfly1978 · 25/11/2020 14:19

Thanks everyone. Did another test and the positive line is just so faint I don't see how I can have a BFP 😥😥. Have attached a photo

Hi @Rachae I’m feeling ok, thanks! Some side effects but coping so feel quite lucky in that respect. As for your symptoms, I’m sure you know your own body but, in the nicest possible way, I hope you’re wrong this time!

@MF1981 thanks for the good luck! I’m back from my apt.

The verdict was that after 7 injections I have one at 14mm, two at 12mm and 5 which are between 6mm and 10mm (I didn’t catch the measurements and the apt was very quick). Then a couple tiny others had appeared. I was told to keep the same dose and they’ll scan again in a few days. I feel relieved that I’m responding to meds and taking that as a positive, but hoping some of those 5 smaller ones will grow, I just don’t know if there’s enough time for that to happen? There was a 9-something and an 8-something I recall, I think the smallest was 6.9mm. Anyone had any follicles that size on a day 8 scan which caught up in time for collection? If a follicle is under 17mm on collection day so they even try to get an egg from it, or not bother?
