Great news @Ofpalestsilver!

Ofpalestsilver · 12/11/2020 15:51

Thank you @MF1981 I’m really delighted as I thought maybe it wouldn’t work.

I’m absolutely shattered today though, spent a few hours snoozing on the sofa. A possible side effect of Menopur? Or just overall stress maybe?

MF1981 · 12/11/2020 16:27

Could be both @Ofpalestsilver - I’ve been absolutely shattered the last couple of days!

Rachae · 12/11/2020 18:59

Hey everyone! So I had a phone call from the clinic this afternoon and they want me to go in again for a scan tomorrow morning. They said depending how big the follicles are then, they might do egg collection on Saturday or Monday!

Does anyone know when my egg transfer would be for those dates please? I'm wondering if I'd get it in before the following friday, or need to wait another weekend xx

Kitttycatt · 12/11/2020 20:03

Hi @Rachae they are usually 5 days apart.

Has anyone experienced bad bloating during down regulation? I'm only on day 6, don't know what I'm going to be like in two weeks. My jeans are super tight and I've been eating healthy and working out 🙈

Rachae · 12/11/2020 20:19

Thanks @kittycatt Smile Yes, me to the bloat! Buserelin bloated me loads and then Menopur is a whole new level!

BrandyM · 12/11/2020 23:10

First injection of Gonal-f done this evening. You guys were so right - it's painless. Phew! 😅

I'm praying for some bloating now. It'll honestly be a blessing if I get bloated due to my low number of follicles.

I noticed a lot of you are on a mixture of FSH injections. Starting with Gonal-f and then switching to menopur or Centrotide etc. Do you know why they prescribe two different brands of FSH? I'm just on Gonal-f so wondering why some doctors mix it up? There has to be a good reason for it and I'm trying to understand what it is....

Xx

BrandyM · 12/11/2020 23:23

@Jane1284 so sorry to hear that you’re having to wait longer. It’s just such a roller coaster isn’t it?

It’s good that they’re monitoring and only starting you only when everything looks as it should be so you have the best outcome in the end.

Fingers crossed that AF arrives timely.

Hoe are you feeling? xx 🙂

BrandyM · 12/11/2020 23:27

Great news @Ofpalestsilver and @EasterBunny7. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of you🤞🏽 xx 🙂

MF1981 · 13/11/2020 06:54

@BrandyM I’ll ask at my clinic today - I think menopur also has LH in but I might be wrong. I think cetrotide stops ovulation so it makes sure the eggs don’t release until the doctors go in and get them.

Luludarty · 13/11/2020 07:08

@MF1981 I am so thirsty and tired now I’m on Cetrotide. They said to me if you’re really thirsty and drinking lots but not much wee comes out then that’s a symptom of OHSS, so every time I wee I hope for a waterfall, not a trickle.

@dragonfly1978 I’ll be keeping fingers crossed for your eggs. I hadn’t even thought about what happens after the injections but now you’re passed that point, I am.

@BrandyM so glad it went okay. The relief after the first one is real. How comes you want to be bloated?

MF1981 · 13/11/2020 07:23

Ah, good to know, thanks @Luludarty

Jane1284 · 13/11/2020 08:00

@BrandyM it is indeed! I feel a bit frustrated. I was prepared for being told something was wrong and I couldn't start and i was prepared for being given the all clear to start but i wasn't prepared to be in limbo for another week. Oh well. Fingers crossed it all clears up!

For your query about drugs I will be taking 3 injections from day 6. I start Gonal F (FSH) on day 2 and continue till EC. And I start fyremadel (stop me ovulating) and Menopaur (FSH & LH) on day 6. I presume I am on so much due to my 2 follicles. Figure they plan to stimulate me as much as possible in the hope they can get some more. x

BrandyM · 13/11/2020 08:45

Thanks so much @MF1981 and @Jane1284. Did a bit more reading on Menopur and Cetrotide/Fyremadel. Dr google tells me that Menopur has LH in addition to FSH (exactly like you said). But since LH triggers ovulation, the Cetrotide/Fyremadel are there to stop premature ovulation. Makes sense I think.

So I'm going to have another battle with my doctor today about this. How come I don't need LH? I think he thinks I'm a nightmare. I've done nothing but question everything so I'm probably his worst patient. Lol 🤣

BrandyM · 13/11/2020 08:51

@MF1981 and @Jane1284 in addition to Gonal-f, menopur, Cetrotide/Fyremael, are you guys going to take a separate single ovulation trigger injection 36 hours before egg collection? For example mine is Ovitrelle. Xx

ShiMo · 13/11/2020 09:10

@BrandyM you’re not being a nightmare! We have to advocate for ourselves else we would all be robots! I’m still in the down regging phase but as far as I understand it, I will also only be on Gonal F when I start stimming. Do you still have to inject a smaller dose of Buserelin as well as the Gonal F? That’s what my plan says, perhaps that’s what will stop you ovulating?

MF1981 · 13/11/2020 09:58

@BrandyM I just had my scan and she confirmed what we’ve all been saying about the difference between the 2. Although she did say she’s never known anyone to switch from gonal f to menopur so she doesn’t know why I’ve been put on that protocol. And yes I have ovitrelle as my trigger too.

Scan was a little uncomfortable and I have a lot of follicles. Over 20 on my right and around 12 on my left. They’re all measuring between 11 and 13 but there are one or two at about 14. She did warn me that I am at high risk of OHSS and that there is a possibility that to be safe they will do a freeze all. Which is disappointing as that means I won’t get to transfer until the new year but I guess they have to be safe and I don’t want to get ill. So mixed feelings I guess.

Emmalouise11 · 13/11/2020 11:51

Hey guys, just had my scan and everything was fine so going ahead with EC on Monday. Finish all injections tomorrow just have to do my night times ones earlier , and also add the trigger shot in aswell which there going to call me later and tell me a time to do it. The COVID swab was awful lol. Hope everyone’s alright x

Jane1284 · 13/11/2020 12:06

@BrandyM I have Ovitrelle too. When i get to that point (fingers crossed that happens)

@MF1981wow that is a lot of follicles. I really hope you don't get OHSS but it sounds like they are monitoring you closely. so should be all over it. I can understand the disappointment in the wait for the transfer but at least it will give your body some time to recover from the stimulation which could be for the best. Hope you are feeling OK?

@Emmalouise11 that is great news. All the best for Monday! x

MF1981 · 13/11/2020 12:26

Thanks @Jane1284 - mixed feelings and really don’t want to get ill. I’m such a wuss! Going to chill today, drink loads of water and try and get my head back into the positive space it has been for the last few days.

Ofpalestsilver · 13/11/2020 16:10

Fab news @Emmalouise11

I went for another scan today. No movement at all. IUI won’t be Monday now. I’m disappointed & concerned. Was off work on Monday. Next Tues / Weds are very important days next week in work. Obviously this is priority but it’s going to make life very difficult if I have to cancel certain things in work. Honestly other people don’t understand the shit we’re going through!

Jane1284 · 13/11/2020 16:58

@MF1981 being ill is awful. Especially when you are extra fragile right now. I will be keeping everything crossed for you that you avoid OHSS.

@Ofpalestsilver that is so disappointing. I understand the stress about work. The first day of the month is a really busy day for me each month and i have been stressing myself out that part of my treatment will coincide with that. Just need to keep reminding ourselves that this process is so much more important than work. Try not think about what other people at work will think. If they were suddenly ill or had a family emergency then i am sure they would always put that before work. You don't need anything else to stress about right now so try be kind to yourself xx

Luludarty · 13/11/2020 18:14

@MF1981 I’m at risk of that too. I’ve already convinced myself that I will have a freeze all and crack on again in the new year. They told me to drink lots of water and eat protein. It does suck because you’ve come so far and then we might have to wait, but fingers crossed we won’t have to.

MF1981 · 13/11/2020 18:27

Thanks @Jane1284 and I agree with your advice for @Ofpalestsilver too xx

I hadn’t even let the idea of a freeze all enter my head @Luludarty so I think you’ve been better prepared than me. Why the protein I wonder? x

BrandyM · 13/11/2020 19:25

@ShiMo

Absolutely- Can’t agree more on self advocating.

Yes, I’m still injecting Buserelin but lowered the dose from 0.5 to 0.25 since I started Gonal-F. Sounds like we are on the exact same protocol and medication!

I think your point about Buserelin is spot on. We are likely still on it to stop ovulation.

I’m still unclear how all these drugs work though. Gonal-f is FSH. But we are taking Buserelin at the same time (which suppresses FSH and LH and therefore ovulation). Isn’t the Buserelin (although the dose is lowered) cancelling out or reducing the impact of Gonal-F?

Any insight welcome Smile xx

How are you feeling down regging by the way? Xx
