Happy new week everyone.

Good luck for everyone with appointments today.

I had my second buserelin injection last night, we decided to try the thigh rather than stomach and it stung a lot!! Will be reverting back to my fat lined stomach tonight Grin

Ofpalestsilver · 09/11/2020 08:59

@Kitttycatt I was worried that my stomach was TOO fat and the nurses told me it was fine! I had been thinking about the thigh but you’ve put me off! Whereabouts on the thigh do you do it?

I got my scan and I have one potential follicle (which is IUI useful) but it’s still bloody small. Lots of follicles as the nurse said they’re just pretty damn lazy (those were MY words!)

ShiMo · 09/11/2020 09:25

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

@ivfhope3 thanks for asking, am doing ok. How are you?

I’ve started Buserelin, my clinic tells me to do them in the morning and then when I start Gonal F for stims, they will be in the evening.

First jab this morning and it wasn’t so bad! It may have to do with the fact I’ve had countless surgeries, procedures and blood tests before that so needles don’t bother me as much as they did 5 years ago, when I was young and naive and thought I was very healthy!

The worst bit was trying to draw the fluid out the vial as I basically drew about 0.4 mil of air and 0.1 ml liquid 🙈

@Kitttycatt hope you’re getting on ok, I’m two days behind you. Let me know how you find it and really hope they stop stinging you! I injected into my belly, found sitting down helps as it defines my rolls a lot better and I could grab a healthy chunk of belly fat haha.

ShiMo · 09/11/2020 09:40

@Ofpalestsilver it’s quality not quantity, I really hope this follicle is a keeper x

Ofpalestsilver · 09/11/2020 10:16

@ShiMo - oh goodness, I'm kinda glad to hear about you with the air and liquid. I absolutely have those problems too. Did you press the plunger to get rid of the air and then add more? I seem to get so much air these days! How much Buserelin do you have to inject if you don't mind me asking?

And thank you, I hope this follicle continues to grow. All I need is one good egg! :)

ShiMo · 09/11/2020 10:21

@Ofpalestsilver glad I’m not the only one! I have to take 0.5ml for two weeks. Yep, ended up plunging a lot of air back into the vial which has me a bit worried! But at my nurse coordination appt, when she demonstrated it, she said that it’s fine to do to get rid of the air bubbles....except mine weren’t air bubbles but a massive air vacuum! I think maybe I put the needle in too deep in the vial?

What are next steps for you lovely? X

Kitttycatt · 09/11/2020 11:17

@Ofpalestsilver I think a nice roll of fat is beneficial for injections, it didn't hurt at all in my stomach. My DH injected the top bit of my thigh, I think this area has much more muscle than my stomach hence the stinging.

@ShiMo I have to take buserelin for 3 weeks, so you will over take me soon!

@dragonfly1978

Thinking of you today Bear

Had another scan today: things are finally progressing! Those that were growing are getting to a decent size but I still have a large quantity of small follicles Sad.

@Ofpalestsilver

How was your scan today?

dragonfly1978 · 09/11/2020 12:23

@EasterBunny7 thanks. Egg collection done and I am home in bed - the doctor said to come home, put my PJs on and stay here for 48 hours so am following orders!! It was very very painful which I wasn't expecting, even with some sedation but they got 14 large eggs so fingers crossed some of them fertilise 🤞

MF1981 · 09/11/2020 12:29

Well done @dragonfly1978 - take care of yourself and I hope the pain eases for you. I’m surprised it was so painful as lots of stories I’ve heard have been people saying it’s like a nice long sleep. Were you awake?

Thinking of everyone having scans today.

I’m waiting to hear back from my clinic about starting medication today. I’ve just been put on furlough until 2nd Dec which is quite nice to not have to worry about appointments during work time or have any stress, but also I now have very little to distract me!

Ofpalestsilver · 09/11/2020 12:32

@EasterBunny7 - sounds like we're on a similar trajectory in some ways. I have a couple that are a bit bigger but they're still quite small. :(

It shouldn't be a huge surprise as my cycles are quite long but it still is a bit disheartening. I am hoping the insemination will happen on Fri/Sat/Mon. I have those days off work which would make it a lot easier.

Send good thoughts to my follicles but only one or two of them cos if I have three or more, they cancel the whole shebang!

Ofpalestsilver · 09/11/2020 12:37

@dragonfly1978 - 14 eggs! Wow that is really impressive. I hope that you get some great embyros from that. When do you find out about the embyros? Did you find the collection painful? I thought you would have been totally out for the count. When I went with my friend for egg collection last year, she couldn't remember any of it...

@MF1981- in some ways that is good to be on furlough. Skipping out of work adds extra stress and you want as little stress as possible. Come in here and chat to us and we'll distract you!

dragonfly1978 · 09/11/2020 13:15

@Ofpalestsilver @MF1981 I wasn't expecting it to be painful and thought I would be out for the count but felt absolutely everything and was wide awake. I had conscious sedation and felt a bit giddy and drunk but was fully aware and unfortunately really could feel it all 😥. Never mind, all done now thank goodness!

ivfhope3 · 09/11/2020 13:32

I'm in a situation my lining isn't thick they said that this could be how my cycle is which is was on a medicated I had to wait another week..

There saying it's completely up to me have the trigger shot go in for another scan 1dag before transfer or wait until next cycle if still not thick enough I would have to go back on Medicated which would go into January

Do I take trigger shot go in an if not wait til next cycle

Or wait until next cycle if I didn't have the scan I wouldn't of known anyway an would of had it done without knowing

Omg I'm so frustrated please help

ivfhope3 · 09/11/2020 13:35

Sorry when I was on medication last transfer it wasn't thick

This time on a natural cycle it's the same

@dragonfly1978
Well done for getting through it. Nerve wracking to hear it was so painful though Blush.

14 eggs sounds amazing! Fingers crossed for the next bit.

EasterBunny7 · 09/11/2020 14:37

@dragonfly1978

Forgot to ask: do you get to decide whether you're asleep or on 'conscious sedation'?

EasterBunny7 · 09/11/2020 14:39

@Ofpalestsilver

Sending good thoughts but just to one or two follicles, as requested. Grin

Rachae · 09/11/2020 14:45

@dragonfly1978 omg you've terrified me haha. I have EC next week I think... What do I need to ask them for in advance?!

dragonfly1978 · 09/11/2020 14:51

@EasterBunny7 @Ofpalestsilver great news both of your scans went well!

@Rachae am so sorry, didn't want to scare anyone!! For some reason the sedation didn't seem to work for me, I am sure you will all get through it and not feel a thing!

Ofpalestsilver · 09/11/2020 14:52

@dragonfly1978 at least it's done now! Take good care of yourself!

And @ivfhope3 - I don't really know the situation you're in but I'll plunder in anyway. If you go ahead and trigger, what might happen? That they wouldn't get enough eggs... or that the embryo might not implant?

Rachae · 09/11/2020 15:02

@dragonfly1978 aww I'm really sorry to hear this. Must have been awful for you. I'm wondering if I feel something, can you ask them to stop and give you more sedation? I can't imagine myself being able to cope with the pain as I'm terrible.. So would sort of squirm etc unless they gave me more meds.

dragonfly1978 · 09/11/2020 15:06

@Rachae I am sure you could ask, I think I was just so surprised I could feel everything and was waiting for the sedation to kick in I never did but I was squirming and occasionally swearing under my breath!!!! I think I should have said something but it's hard when you are in the situation for the first time and are not sure what to expect!

@ivfhope3 I guess having the trigger shot and seeing what happens wouldn't do any harm??

ivfhope3 · 09/11/2020 17:05

The doctors have said basically no. But like I said it was thin even on medication an if I didn't go for the scan an just went in when I ovulated we wouldn't have known

I don't even know what to do anymore for the best. It's so hard I've just cried and cried all day

OP posts:
81Poppy · 09/11/2020 17:27

Sorry to hear this @ivfhope3 did they say how thin the lining was? I've always had issues with lining but one consultant said it's more about the 3 layer (3 lines on ultrasound)
I was all geared up to start beginning on Dec but now told I'll miss that due to Xmas closure so looks like new year for me. It's so frustrating... nothing is straightforward
