Hi

Couldn't see a thread for May/June - hoping that I'm not on my own for this cycle as its our 2nd cycle and feeling worried that I won't get to transfer.

Would be great to share the ups and downs with others, I'm starting buserelin next Wednesday (27th May).

@ivfgottobepositive That's a good bit of research there - what is the ingredient? I might look into taking that as well

ivfgottostaypositive · 26/05/2020 19:20

@HJF84

See attached - really long word to spell 🤣
I'm on quite a few Facebook groups for IVF / miscarriages and PGS testing and quite a few women on there took it and had success - particularly those that aren't doing IVF so no access to prednisolone

@ivfgottostaypositive ive read bout this too but was worried as other times says about effecting the lining as effectively blocks and drys things but may give it a go

BKB27 · 26/05/2020 20:22

@ivfgottostaypositive that's really interesting, thanks for sharing! It's so difficult with so much information out there so I'm so glad I found this chat!

@HJF84 thanks for your reply. I spoke to the consultant about it and he didnt recommend it as 2 miscarriages isnt recurrent - whoever's made that rule up needs a talking to! How much hell does a person have to go through!

I'm off to the hospital tomorrow for yet more blood tests and my diary which will hopefully explain a bit clearer what I'm doing next. I found the virtual nurse consultation I had a bit overwhelming! Fingers crossed we all get some good news soon!

Tigerlily99 · 26/05/2020 22:18

@MrsLouB looks like you’ve covered all your bases, hope that results in a good lining!

@HJF84 hope all your results come clear so you don’t have to face a long wait

@ivfgottostaypositive that’s really interesting. That medicine is Nytol isn’t it? Have you happened to see any papers or evidence around it’s use on your travels through the internet as I’d be interested to read.

@BKB27 good luck with your appointment tomorrow. I also don’t have the foggiest what the plan is after the virtual nurse appointment 🤣

MrsLouB · 27/05/2020 06:33

Hi @Tigerlily99 its our last shot so why not thanks ill see on tuesday.

Have you already blood work done? Normally after my nurse consultant i get the prescription and what for day one and get the calander of my meds sent to me although i know it and im not not reg so i start on day one but depends on what protocol the consultant has suggested x

MorgenMuffel · 27/05/2020 07:47

Morning! Hope everyone is ok and everyone stimming isn't feeling too grotty. I am having the joys of night sweats at the mo - thanks progesterone!

Currently on the train on my way to work. I can't WFH and rota-ed on today, Fri and Mon. Was really conflicted about whether to work, but I figured remaining busy and focusing on something other than my body will be the best thing for me. My FET was pretty straightforward, even got a pic of my embryo. I did discover I have the "honour" of being the first transfer since they reopened - no pressure then! I test next Thurs which seems ridiculously soon.

So interesting that so many of us have had weight gain. They definately don't mention it when you start going down this route!

The info about prednisone is really interesting too, thanks everyone. I think our issues might be with implantation but trying not to get too ahead of myself.

@BKB27 good luck at the hospital today, and hope you get a bit more clarity. Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions until you are happy with everything.

Welcome @elleceedee 👋

elleceedee · 27/05/2020 07:53

@ivfgottostaypositive that's v interesting about diphenhydramine, thank you for sharing - I'd never heard of it before!

@HJF84 I hope you get the blood results you need to get started rather than waiting, that would be agonising. I also have a huge stash of prednisolone! We'd make a fortune Wink

@BKB27 good luck with your appointment today.

Hope everyone else is doing OK! I'm struggling a bit today, worrying about work (I'm currently furloughed) and all the stress that brings, never mind the stress of another FET! I'm fed up of the disappointments while everyone around us seems to get pregnant at the drop of a hat!

Mrbay · 27/05/2020 09:35

@MorgenMuffel - glad the transfer was straight forward, how different was it to pre covid?
Not long to wait, fingers crossed!

I started my burselin this morning, here goes to our 2nd fresh cycle.

Managed to get on and order protein last night, my protein had 45% off so pretty chuffed about that!

Has anyone been told to isolate? I remember seeing a post about isolation from my clinic but I cannot find it now.

Hello!
Pleassee can i join? Im in Perth Australia and from the UK its so scary not having anyone to cry to or go theough this with other than my husband.

I start IVF second week of June just waiting for my next period to arrive. I am terrified to be honest im still not sure it had sunk in, we had a meeting yesterday with our specialist after doing 3 clomid cycles we were really thinking IUI and inexplained infertility but my husband only has 3% mobile sperm
But suddenly she was like oh you have such a low egg reserve for your age and so ita IVF asap for you, we may need to look at doing a few to get as many eggs as we can so we can freeze them for your future children or youd have run out so now im terrified and thinkkng the worst!
I am 29, I was tested for AMH it was 13.1
Then a month later it was 9.7
And my ultrasound came through as 14 one side 18 the other so im just so confused and worried
I pick up meds june 6th ready for 13th eeek i want to be excited and positive but at the moment im just scared and feels so rushed

Sorry! Im just so nervous haha i feel better knowing others are startint at the dame time as me !

elleceedee · 27/05/2020 10:17

@MorgenMuffel sorry I missed your message, I think I was still writing mine when you posted so I didn't see it! Thank you for the welcome. And congrats on your transfer! Good news that your otd is so soon - hope it flies by for you! Do you think you'll test early (I'm terrible for this and would not recommend it!)?

@Ails826 welcome! That sounds like a rollercoaster of emotions especially if you wee thinking iui first but good that your clinic want to get the ball rolling with IVF asap.

ivfgottostaypositive · 27/05/2020 10:49

@Ails826

Welcome - I wouldn't worry too M.J. by about the AMH number - the numbers of follicles you have that are seen on the scan are more important than the blood test number

Ails826 · 27/05/2020 10:56

@ivfgottostaypositive ahh okay
We shall see what happens im trying to get excited hopefully this is our road to finally getting pregnant and this group sees some positives :) x

takingthistooseriously · 27/05/2020 11:46

@elleceedee welcome!

@MorgenMuffel really glad your transfer went well - sorry to hear about the night sweats though. I get like that for two days before AF usually and i hate it!

@Ails826 that does sound like it's all happened to you very quickly and being so far from home can't help. But overall hopefully it is good to find out these things now and get cracking with IVF rather than if it was too late. My AMH also fell quite a bit in between blood tests and the consultant was trying to tell me that the scale wasn't what I thought it was and not to panic - I panicked anyway!

Had my first scan today to check follicle growth, it seemed to go ok although I can't remember any of the numbers! Second scan on Friday should mean more and I'll try to remember numbers Confused

BKB27 · 27/05/2020 11:47

Hi guys! @Tigerlily99 thanks for your message! Glad it wasnt just me re the consultation! It all just felt a bit disconnected. @elleceedee thanks for your message too, love the support from this thread! @MorgenMuffel so glad to hear your transfer went well!

The appointment today was strange and felt a bit manic! They seem to be taking it day by day. Had temperature checked on arrival and was given a mask. Need to go back 2 weeks before I start my injections for a covid swab. The idea seems to be ring the unit when my June AF arrives and they will tell me to get cracking!

Hope everyone is doing well and staying positive - this glorious sunshine does help with the mood (mine have been awful lately!)

ivfgottostaypositive · 27/05/2020 11:55

I had my first scan today - cycle day 4 - good number of follicles seen (for me anyway! - 10 measurable largest 9mm down to a 3mm) so start stimming injections this evening. I'm doing natural modified IVF so will only be targeting around 5-7 follicles

Very strange in clinic with the lack of chairs in the waiting room and all the staff wearing masks etc - with being at home so much I guess I've ended up a bit sheltered from the implications of the virus as the only real effect that's visible normal is the queues for the shops 🤣

RosettaR · 27/05/2020 12:01

@Ails826 just wanted to say hi, I've got similar AMH to yours, it was 10.8 in July last year then 12.8 in September. I'm 32 so like you wasn't expecting it so low. I have the added worry that when I had my baseline scan last week there were no follicles on one side - the last scan I had there were 10! You hear such varied things about it all that I've given up trying to understand really and I am just going to see what happens. On the positive side, our AMH is normal for our age (the normal ranges are huge meaning it naturally varies a lot person to person). And most people say it doesn't mean quality will be bad, the most important thing for that is age and you are really young. Best of luck.

Ails826 · 27/05/2020 14:22

@RosettaR hello!
Wow thats so confusing you are completely right I started doing a lot if googling and it just became so much and I have decided to just do what I am told by thr specialist as we have to trust her

Were you doing IVF due to low AMH? Or were there other complications?
Wow 10 to nothing it shows how much our cycles can change month to month

I have been told il be on a slightly higher dose then normal to try and get more eggs but Il be interested to see how i respond to treatment.

Have you told your parents and friends your going through this? I am so torn as we havnt told many people minus when we got marrried and i wss open about us starting a family thinkng it would be instant !

We have been trying for 11 months and so its all happened fast!

Mrbay · 27/05/2020 15:54

I wouldn't worry about AMH - mine is around 1.9 to 2ish on my last two checks, went up on the 2nd test - I don't have a lot of follicles and I may have none left if my endo has destroyed more since my last check up. Last year I managed to get 3 eggs collected and 3 to day-5 but as you can guess - they didn't stick so here we go again to see if there is anything left! Oh, and I am 32.

OP posts:
ivfgottostaypositive · 27/05/2020 16:37

I've had a call from my clinic and my e2 levels are a bit low for cycle day 4 based on the number of follicles seen so they have said not to start stims today but start tomorrow.....feeling a bit anxious now that I could have another abandoned cycle and also have never started stims so late in my cycle before and worried about what that means 😬

takingthistooseriously · 27/05/2020 17:16

@ivfgottostaypositive oh no more waiting! sorry to hear that. Hope you get good news tomorrow

RosettaR · 27/05/2020 17:22

@Ails826 I'm really just doing ivf due to not getting pregnant naturally! I've been told it's unexplained infertility. Low AMH isn't generally a cause of infertility in itself at least not at our levels, plenty of women with AMH lower than than that get pregnant naturally. I think you're doing the right thing going quickly, I do look back and wish I'd gone faster (particularly given the additional covid related delay which I obviously couldn't have predicted).

I've told parents and closest friends but that's it. It's hard knowing how many people to tell, I'm struggling with work colleagues as at the moment I'm telling most of them I'm having "a medical procedure" - I'm going to take time off so I have to tell them something - but I feel like it must be so obvious what I'm really doing!

MorgenMuffel · 27/05/2020 20:36

Phew, what a busy day in the office! Barely had time to think about anything, which meant I wasnt picking up every little twinge which is good. Did mean I ate a bit too much sugar, but about to finish off dinner with some cashews and pineapple!

@Mrbay it wasn't too different to pre-covid really. My fresh transfer was just as COVID was kicking off, so the Dr was already wearing a facemask, visor etc. The main differences were a temp check on entry to the building and having to wear a mask myself. I've not been told to isolate but do remember seeing something in the giant form I had to sign about people being tested and then self isolating for fresh cycles - I guess perhaps as there will be more prolonged contact during EC?

@elleceedee no, I have never tested early, and in fact usually don't have any tests in the house! Occasionally in the early days of TTC I tested on the day my period is due, but I usually just wait for AF to show up - I hate the double whammy of a BFN and then AF turning up to rub salt into the wound. I have seen too many threads on here about people agonising over whether it is a line or not that I feel it just adds to the stress of it all. I do have a FRER in the cupboard left from my previous cycle, so will just take that on Thurs. Currently trying to decide whether I should go into the office or have a WFH day - obvs will be upset if it is negative but it might take my mind off it if it is....

@Ails826 welcome! Sounds tough being away from home and it all happening quickly. As others have said, I wouldn't worry too much about the AMH numbers - especially as sounds like you have lots of follices. My scans have never shown that many and I don't have any known AMH issues.

@BKB27 glad your appointment went well, and not long to go until you get started by the sounds of things. You are right, the lovely weather has definately been helping me keep calm and happy lately - although suncream + hormones is wreaking havock with my skin! I have so many spots :(

@ivfgottostaypositive glad your scan was ok, although must be frustrating to have to wait to start stimming. I didn't start until about day 5 last cycle and still got good numbers of embryos at the other end.

@RosettaR @Ails826 I've been fairly open with a lot of people about us having IVF. Immediate family on both sides know, as well as a fair few friends - some of my friends have had it in the past / are currently on clomid, so i think that helps as I can ask them questions. I have also been reasonably open with it at work as I have found it less stressful if my boss and close colleagues know what is going on so I can just say I've got an appointment rather than worrying that people are going to start getting funny with being out of the office so much. Also, its a massive thing in my life and could affect how I am, and have found talking about it has made people more understanding. However, I know that approach really isn't for everyone - especially having to tell people when it hasn't worked.

Sorry for my mammoth reply, and sorry if I have missed anyone!

MorgenMuffel · 27/05/2020 20:38

@takingthistooseriously glad your scan was ok! As you say, I wouldn't worry about the numbers this early :)

HT2101 · 27/05/2020 21:14

Hi @RosettaR I’ve been prescribed Prednisolone as after failed ivf and IUI I paid to have the NK Cell test, and results showed mine were low so going to give that a try. I know some clinics aren’t crazy about doing the immune tests but I’m at the Lister and they supported my request and subsequent protocol.
