Hi

Couldn't see a thread for May/June - hoping that I'm not on my own for this cycle as its our 2nd cycle and feeling worried that I won't get to transfer.

Would be great to share the ups and downs with others, I'm starting buserelin next Wednesday (27th May).

@Pattaz2711

You can pretty much test from 4 days after transfer (or 9DPO) - depends on how well you know your body really? I know that my trigger shot is usually gone by 8DPO. Obviously you run the risk of seeing a chemical pregnancy if you test so early but to be honest I'd rather know - as it helps understand what's going on - for example if you do get a positive test that early but it later fades and turns negative at least it shows that implantation happened therefore it shows the doctors that failure isn't down to lack of implantation or an embryo not becoming a blastocyst and hatching it has to be something else. As opposed to not ever getting a positive shows that you have an implantation issue or maybe transferring on the wrong day of the cycle or even that you need to try some day 5 transfers as maybe the embryo never made blastocyst or wasn't able to hatch ? (Freezing blastocysts and age of eggs often makes the outer shell hard and prevents hatching so some people might need assisted hatching down)

Knowledge is power in situations like this I've always thought x

elleceedee · 16/06/2020 09:29

@Pattaz2711 try not to worry! It may be worth asking your clinic some questions though just to put your mind at ease? I ask questions all the time, I think they are sick of me but we are paying so much and there's so much at stake, it's important to know what's going on.

elleceedee · 16/06/2020 09:33

@Mrbay your dog is adorable! We had to have one of our dogs put down last year which was devastating - she'd been at my side throughout all my injections, miscarriages and just general heartache and she was so loyal and cuddly. Our other dog couldn't give a shit and just wants to be running around and causing mayhem! Nice to have an injection buddy Smile

elleceedee · 16/06/2020 09:39

@Lemongrass1 great news that AF is here!

@ivfgottostaypositive have you tested again today? Hope the lines are darker of you have.

@MrsLouB my DH is really against me testing early as well because he sees that it turns me a bit crazy! I think I might try and hold out until 9dp5dt this time (assuming my transfer goes well) just because once I start I can't stop and the amount I've spent on pregnancy tests over the years is obscene! Saturday is getting closer and closer, not long now for you. Hang in there!

Everhopeful35 · 16/06/2020 09:40

@Pattaz2711 You should definitely ask as many questions as you want - you're paying so much for this and it's your clinic's job to ease your worries. My clinic have an 'emergency line' and the trivial things I've called about on there would make you laugh. I intend to get my full money's worth 🤣

Pinktruffle · 16/06/2020 09:45

@Pattaz2711 definitely check with your clinic as I was asked not to put my Cyclogest pessary in before my transfer - I had to wait till I got home after the transfer.

MrsLouB · 16/06/2020 10:09

@Pattaz2711 in regards to the Cycolgest erm check with your clinic mine never said anything also depends on the time of your transfer if you pop it in at 8am and is dissolved in 30 mins and they normally clean your cervix prior to the transfer anyway - it is important that it is still taken at roughly the same time each day

also another way to do this is i take one in the morning the back way and one at night the other way i find it less messy and also i was told they absorb better via the back lol

@elleceedee lol yes this is the thing if i test early then i keep testing so wasting more tests, and becos of or MC last time he said well it doesnt matter what the line is or how strong it is as last time proved that so we shall see. I really want to test tho but then part of doesnt want the dream bubble to be burst just yet either x

ivfgottostaypositive · 16/06/2020 10:22

@elleceedee

Of course I've tested again! 🤣🤦‍♀️😬
I don't think my First Response looks that much darker than yesterday so feeling a bit like this could go either way. But the Onestep cheapy tests are definitely darker than yesterday's ones.

I've ordered some clearblue digital with weeks which will be here this evening. I'd like to get a positive on that today (then I'm ahead of where I've tested positive on previous miscarriages/ectopics). I know you can't compare one pregnancy to another plus I transferred two blastocysts which might be throwing things out but I've kind of set myself little goals in my head?

On previous miscarriages/ectopics I didn't get clearblue digital 2-3 weeks until 17DPO so I'd like to get it sooner this time to feel more confidant?

I've also got my blood test at the clinic on Thursday (13DPO) instead of Friday and I'd like to get over 100hcg. I read somewhere once that the best chance of successful pregnancy is to have hcg over 100 on 14DPO and it's been true for all of mine so far x

MrsLouB · 16/06/2020 10:41

@ivfgottostaypositive so glad to hear this and it is true what you say i did the clear blue ones and the weeks indictor was behind and i sort of knew something was up i got 1-2 weeks pretty early and the 2-3 stayed there when it should of been 3. Funny hear about the numbers as i never got tested until i was 12dpt so that would be 17dpo ? and it was 337

have everything crossed for you my lovely and cannot wait for the udpdate xx

elleceedee · 16/06/2020 10:46

With regards to cyclogest, I've been told different things at different appointments - one nurse told me that rectally was better for absorption then a different nurse told me that vaginally was better! So who knows! I prefer rectally as less messy but have previously done my nighttime one vaginally just to mix it up a bit, why not eh! I've always been told for transfer day to do it rectally so it doesn't interfere with transfer.

elleceedee · 16/06/2020 10:48

@ivfgottostaypositive love it! Fingers crossed for the digital results tonight then. I think the earliest I've seen 1-2 weeks in a digital was 7dp5dt (and that was with DD!) and I think you are 6dp (?) so don't be disheartened if you don't see it.

ivfgottostaypositive · 16/06/2020 10:49

I've been doing them the back way and my progesterone on day of transfer was 140!!! (They like it over 45) - I find i get less "wastage" doing it that way compared to the front way

ivfgottostaypositive · 16/06/2020 10:50

I forgot to say ladies - stay away from the one step tests from the co op pharmacy which have a green strip on them - useless! Still showing negative today for me compared to the wide strip ones and standard one step ones from Amazon which have a clear BFP

Lemongrass1 · 16/06/2020 10:51

@ivfgottostaypositive Hope you get good news for your hcg test! I actually had a hcg of 140 at 18dpo after a FET. It was really low and I prepared myself for the worst but it turned out to be a sticky bean. It is so much more reassuring to have higher numbers but it can sometimes work out with low initial hcg too. Good luck 🤞🤞🍀🍀🍀

MrsLouB · 16/06/2020 10:52

@elleceedee same here i like mixing it up as otherwise i also worry all one way may cause more irritation as i had cramps when i was doing mainly the rectal way and my nurse said can cause this

MrsLouB · 16/06/2020 10:55

@ivfgottostaypositive thanks for the heads up i usually get them on ebay or amazon but i also find them so small to look at, i have some labquick ones too so argh ... i think you should see a difference in the line tomorrow i saw the main darkness on a frer every few days

elleceedee · 16/06/2020 11:01

Home Bargains also does some pretty sensitive cheap tests too which I found good when my FRER habit got too expensive hehe!

Mrbay · 16/06/2020 12:55

@elleceedee - sorry to read that we lost our lab around this time last year and our other dog is a no cuddle dog! The pup pictured is always wanting attention and just follows me around much to my DH's disappointment.

Mrbay · 16/06/2020 13:00

@ivfgottostaypositive - I think they only get darker every 48-hours as I think that's the time it takes for the HCG to double - fingers crossed its a sticky one!

@elleceedee - I the Home Bargain ones are 20 HCG per ml and are only a £1 for 3 strips - bargain! I used them the first time I got a positive and they were very easy to use and quick to boot!

I am going to test out my trigger, so do you start to do that the day after EC or wait until you've had the transfer and then start daily testing?

OP posts:
Lemongrass1 · 16/06/2020 13:05

@Mrbay I forgot to say your injection buddy is super cute 😁 I haven’t had experience testing pot the trigger but I’d say to start after transfer. If it’s negative then you know trigger has gone. If it’s positive then it’s still the trigger as you wouldn’t get a positive straight after ET. X

ivfgottostaypositive · 16/06/2020 13:07

@mrbay

I'd wait until after transfer - and make sure you use the same sensitivity tests so you can see if the line starts to get darker again which would indicate rising and not falling Hcg

General rule of thumb is that hcg halves every 24 hours. Some people say it falls by 1,000 per day but I think that's if you have a fast metabolism. So my 5,000 units was down to around 9 on 2DP5DT/9 days post trigger and I got a pretty clear line on FRER on that day. 3DP5DT and the line was gone (10 days post trigger). I started to get a BFP the following day x

Pattaz2711 · 16/06/2020 13:58

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining. I've been reading everyone's posts for a few weeks. :)
I've started my Synarel spray this morning, it is my first IVF. Really excited! @MorgenMuffel Congratulations! I'm at the same clinic too.

For everyone who is EC, ET and 2WW best of luck! I hope we hear more good news soon!x

Mrbay · 16/06/2020 14:41

@Lemongrass1 - thank you, she's my little shadow, she's meant to be my DH's dog but I take it that I am just nicer than him! Annoyingly, she just try to use her mouth to help with the injection!

@ivfgottostaypositive @lemongrass1 - thanks, I'll see if I get to EC and ET, then I'll send DH to grab some more cheapies to use for testing the trigger out.

@limeflower2 - welcome and good luck! are you doing short or long protocol?
