Hi

Couldn't see a thread for May/June - hoping that I'm not on my own for this cycle as its our 2nd cycle and feeling worried that I won't get to transfer.

Would be great to share the ups and downs with others, I'm starting buserelin next Wednesday (27th May).

@Dbrook congrats on being PUPO

@Everhopeful35 welcome. It's quite common to have a drop in numbers, and you've still got lots in the game. I was surprisingly sore after my EC too but it passed pretty quickly. Take it easy.

Bestofyou1982 · 13/06/2020 17:39

Congrats @Dbrook on the transfer. 🤞

I read a couple of people mentioned signing contract or covid paperwork. Can I be nosey and ask what you had to agree to? I'm working from home as of Friday just gone, as working in a school social distancing can't be guaranteed. Just wondering how cautious should be about doing food shop, seeing family at a distance etc...
Obviously don't want to do anything that could result in transfer being cancelled.
But then after transfer, what have people been advised to do with regards to covid too?

Anyone else get stinking headaches on estradiol tablets?

So lovely to have people to talk to that are in similar situations. 😊

Bestofyou1982 · 13/06/2020 17:46

@Everhopeful35 just saw your post. We had 31 eggs collected (OHSS) but 14 that fertilised and then even less that were good enough quality to freeze.
A drop is from what I have read and experienced. Keep sending positive vibes to the little ones still doing their thing. 😘

takingthistooseriously · 13/06/2020 18:06

thanks @MorgenMuffel @Eggling and @MrsLouB, I am still feeling crampy but no bleeding yet so I'm feeling more positive. I think I will test tomorrow with a FRER to help ease the anxiety! I'll be 9dp4dt.

@MrsLouB i hope you're feeling better, unmumsnetty hugs for you

@Dbrook congrats on your transfer! How are you feeling?

@Wesstywoo hope your scan went well!

welcome to newcomers!

@Everhopeful35 I agree entirely with @ivfgottostaypositive, you had so many collected, you could shed a lot at every stage and still have lots at the end of the 5 days, you have great numbers. But they are so great that you should be alert for OHSS symptoms! I felt really awful until about 3 days after then I just felt magically fine, hope you get better soon. There's a split in the advice for mild/moderate OHSS between the UK and the US, the UK advises just water but the US advises electrolytes and I did find that a disgusting combo of lemon juice, salt, water and some squash really helped me! (no lucozade available sadly!!)

ivfgottostaypositive · 13/06/2020 18:15

@everhopeful35

The 4 from that particular cycle ended up being 2 day 5 blastocysts and I PGS tested them and both had chromosomal issues

I've had better quality in changing to natural modified IVF and targeting much fewer follicles between 2 and 7 (except this last cycle which was rubbish)

ICSI is supposed to have much better fertilisation rates but it all depends on egg quality. Mine turned out not to be great hence low fertilisation numbers

@bestofyou1982

Our paperwork just asks to state whether we are we adhering to social distancing - they also check temperature every time I went to the clinic. DH wasn't allowed to come to any scans or even egg collection - he had to do his sample at home and I drove it in - to be honest I've got a life to live and still need to go to the shops etc so have carried on doing that. I wear a mask and consider the risk very very low at this point in the pandemic.

@takingthistooseriously

Definitely test tomorrow - you'll definitely have a clear answer either way in the morning 🤞🤞🤞

MrsLouB · 13/06/2020 18:39

@takingthistooseriously oh good luck tomorrow.

@everhopeful35 my clinic in uk advised to drink sports lucozade as has the electrolytes

@wesstwoo hope your scan went well

Sorry if ive missed anyone lots of updates so hope everyone is doing ok xx

Im been ok today cramping has eased off now days 2 and 3 seem to off been the worse..but my moods oh my so irritable think the meds yikes..this time week we will know for sure xxx

Lemongrass1 · 13/06/2020 19:04

Welcome to the new joiners!

@Dbrook congrats on being PUPO. I think 3dt was a good call but 🤞to see if the other 2 make it to freeze

@ivfgottostaypositive, @MrsLouB @takingthistooseriously hang in there! The 2WW is tough going and you can’t help but concentrate on symptoms or lack of. I have my fingers crossed for you when you get to testing.

@takingthistooseriously I’m v impressed with your will power to not test before now! Good luck testing tomorrow

@Wesstywoo hope scan went well x

@bestofyou1982 We had to sign paperwork to say we would adhere to social distancing etc. Also having either 2 or 3 Covid swabs during treatment. Cycle gets cancelled if test positive. I’m being strict about maintaining social distancing as I don’t want any chance of being contacted by track and trace team to isolate as that would effectively mean my cycle is cancelled. Post transfer I will just follow whatever the rules are at that time. I don’t intend on shielding or anything like that.

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip how’s it going, have you had your downreg bleed yet? My period is late which I knew would probably happen. On tenterhooks waiting for it to come! I think the scan on Thurs may well need to be pushed back to the following Tues if AF doesn’t show face soon 😬

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, hope you are all having a good weekend! X

Everhopeful35 · 13/06/2020 19:06

@MrsLouB and @takingthistooseriously - thanks for the tips to reduce the bloat! That's interesting about the electrolytes. And actually, it's music to my ears because I'm sick of water and I LOVE squash and Lucozade!

@ivfgottostaypositive That's interesting about potentially better quality embryos coming from natural IVF. I've read good things about it. Sorry the latest cycle hasn't been so successful though. So much of this is luck, isn't it? Just got to hope for a good round.

@Bestofyou1982 Thank you for your positive vibes, I could use them. I'm already dreading the next clinic call in the morning...

One other thing I wanted to get people's thoughts on. We've turned to IVF because of repeat miscarriage and because of that, I'm on a concoction of aspirin, Clexane, dexamethasone (steroids) and I'm also doing an IVIG drip. I had a couple of problems identified, including elevated cytokines / NK cells. Anyone else taking a similar concoction? Seems like so much medication but hoping that it works this time.

MorgenMuffel · 13/06/2020 19:10

@takingthistooseriously good luck in the morning

HJF84 · 13/06/2020 19:25

@dbrook Congrats on being PUPO - welcome to the 2ww. 8-cells is what they like to see, so fingers crossed for you

@Everhopeful35 Welcome to the thread. I had natural modified, had two eggs removed and I was sore for a couple of days afterwards. It had subsided by the time I came to transfer. I'm also on a concoction of after injections, as I have a gene mutation that can cause clotting, so I'm on inhixa, which is is another name for clexane I think. I'm also on lubion, which is injectable progesterone as well as the suppositories. I was supposed to be on steroids - but my clinic won't let me take them with the risk of my immune system being lowered in the pandemic, but there are few people here who have been told they can take them.

@wesstywoo how did your scan go?

@takingthingstooseriously Eek! Good luck in the morning 🤞🏼

Create were supposed to call me today to give me an update on the second embryo, as it would be day 5 today, but I haven't heard anything yet. I'm guessing that it might be a slow developer and they are culturing to day 6 perhaps? No news is good news, right? It would be nice to have one in the freezer

Lemongrass1 · 13/06/2020 19:26

@Everhopeful35 also wanted to add I had a fairly big drop off between eggs collected and eggs that fertilised. There was another smaller drop off in numbers between fertilization and day 5. This was with ICSI. When do you get your next update? You’ve still got plenty in the running so I hope you get good news with the next call. X

Pattaz2711 · 13/06/2020 19:36

@Wesstywoo how did your scan go??

@takingthistooseriously good luck hun

@MrsLouB how you feeling huni??? Xxx

HT2101 · 13/06/2020 20:17

Hi @Everhopeful35, I’m on a similar concoction to you! Had a failed IUI, ICSI and one other cycle where nothing fertilised. Willing to give something new a try hence the different drugs. Will be keeping fingers crossed for you!

MrsLouB · 13/06/2020 22:54

@Pattaz2711 thanks hun im doing ok just feel normal again now to the point i keep forgetting for a moment. It will all sink in this time next week good or bad its our last try xx how are hunni xx

MrsLouB · 14/06/2020 06:02

Morning all how is everyone today? Loving these 4am wake ups not lol x

Wesstywoo · 14/06/2020 06:59

@Dbrook wishing you a speedy tww!

Scan wasn't brilliant - there are more follicles this time but one of them is bigger than the rest, similar to what happened to me last time. Next scan is on Tuesday. Hopefully it won't have out grown the others too much by then and I can start stims. I was hoping for more than 1 egg this time.

@takingthistooseriously good luck with testing today!

Hope everyone else is ok xx

ivfgottostaypositive · 14/06/2020 07:01

@Wesstywoo
I had the same. How much bigger is it? are they changing your medications at all to give the others a boost?

@takingthistooseriously
Good luck today - I'm surprised you weren't up at 4am testing - I wouldn't be able to help myself! 🤣

@MrsLouB
I was awake too except one of the cats was asleep on my phone and I value not losing my hand so decided not to retrieve it!

MrsLouB · 14/06/2020 07:20

@Wesstywoo glad it went ok ish you have a lot there and i think from my own experience and other you do get one that always seems to be bigger i did on mine, some grew along side but it was always bigger xx

@ivfgottostaypositive lol well one of my cats woke me up but it was 3am and i said no way she is a very vocal cat at night she is only little in size and she gets bullied by the other two lol. Then the eldest will normally jump up and walk over my head if im not up to feed them by 5.30 latest xx how are u today?

@takingthistooseriously Again impressed you have held out till now wishing you lots of positive vibes

ivfgottostaypositive · 14/06/2020 07:27

@MrsLouB

I'm ok - up and down emotionally! Still zero symptoms - I just want to go to sleep and wake up later on in the week when I know for definite if it's a yes or no x

Wesstywoo · 14/06/2020 07:34

@ivfgottostaypositive @MrsLouB thanks for reassurance. This was a day 2 scan (won't be starting stims til day 5 as natural modified). It was 10mm and I think the others were 4mm. Last time it was 16mm by day 5 and I didn't even get to do stims, they just collected that one. Will see how it looks on Tuesday and see what they say about meds

MrsLouB · 14/06/2020 07:42

@ivfgottostaypositive right there with you hunni im pretty low today and zero symptoms now just feel normal apart from the moods from the meds. Part of me just thinks well its not worked why would it? Lets just get off this ride now. Arghh role on next sat xxx

@Wesstywoo wishing you luck for the next scan ive only every done the first round ivf and had one at 18mm and others creeping up behind it at 15, 14 ,10 etc so hoping this works xxx

takingthistooseriously · 14/06/2020 09:42

@Wesstywoo I hope you get better news on Tuesday and some of your others have caught up

@ivfgottostaypositive and @MrsLouB hang in there, I had no idea how much of a rollercoaster the 2ww would be, I was just where you are a couple of days ago so I really feel for you

@all thanks for your good wishes
