Hi

Couldn't see a thread for May/June - hoping that I'm not on my own for this cycle as its our 2nd cycle and feeling worried that I won't get to transfer.

Would be great to share the ups and downs with others, I'm starting buserelin next Wednesday (27th May).

Hello!

I havnt posted in ages but I have been keeping up to date :)

I had my first nurse call and i am so excited to get going but the only thing im panicing about it my BMI
So im a size 10 but im curvy i have a big bum big boobs like a 30 FF

Anyway she said i have to get weighed to check im a healthy BMI... the last time I was a healthy BMI was a year ago for mt wedding where i starved myself and took laxatives a few times a day

What if they cancel my cycle or if they tell me to lose weight im scared of being triggered to like not look after my body and just starve it as appose to eating the right kinds of food :(

Mrbay · 11/06/2020 11:01

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip - sorry I am not a fan of foam sweets, jellies all the way!! Oh and I will grab a Mr Whippy too!! I just hope that they don't sell out before I take my lunch break!!

Oh, I've not even really bothered with a health kick, I figure it is stressful enough without being bored by dinner!! In fact, I've had two McDonalds in 3 days!

@Wesstywoo - I've just done the extreme version of the period dance, a quick handstand tweak, that should help you on your way!!

Sorry @elleceedee - I missed your promotion news - congratulations!!! Take it with both hands and use the cash boast to stash for your mat leave.

@takingthistooseriously - shall I torment you with a photo when I get them??

@Ails826 - welcome back!! Have you weighed yourself? My clinic just trusted me on the weight I told them, which is good because the BMI calculator is not my friend and it such a stupid medical tool as it does not take into account your body fat percentage! If it helps, I'm 5'8" and 12 and half stone, so have a BMI of 26.5 which is classed as overweight but the clinic wasn't concerned as they use it as a guide and use their eyesight to judge too!

Hi @Pattaz2711, you’ve come to the right place and the lovely ladies on here have given you great advice. Def be kind to yourself, having 4 embryos in the bank is a great position to be in.

This is such an emotional journey to be on, Its bound to impact on your relationship, you’re def not alone there. Once the drugs kicks in, my partner usual runs for this hills (bit limited in lockdown) as I do take out a lot of my moods on him.

Do something that cheers you up today, and honestly 4 Frosties is a great position to be in. 😘

HJF84 · 11/06/2020 11:16

Thanks for the good luck all! I have an afternoon appt so I'll be making my way up there soon. Feels odd that DH won't be coming with me.

@ivfgottobepositive I have no idea. My last 3 have all been five day transfers. I assumed it would be an update on the number of cells? Maybe they will, who knows?

@elleceedee Congrats on the promotion! Enjoy that moment and you can worry about the maternity leave later

@Ails826 Welcome back! I'm just on the cusp of being overweight with a BMI of 25 and I'm a size 12, are you NHS or private? From what I understand, private are a little more relaxed

@mrbay I might have to order some pic n mix as a little treat

@pattaz2711 As everyone has said, try to relax. Have you spoken to someone about what you're going through? I went through a really stressful time with all the IVF at the end of last year and I started seeing a counsellor at the beginning of the year, I'm feeling so much better going into this cycle.

ivfgottostaypositive · 11/06/2020 11:27

@HJF84

Ah ok. I've always got an update on day 3 with the grade of them and then how many cells. I know that 100% of my grade 1 tend to make blastocysts, around 50-60% of my grade 2 and then none of my grade 3-4

MrsLouB · 11/06/2020 11:27

@elleceedee congrats on the promotion

@Ails826 welcome please dont panic are you NHS or Private ? i am private and they never weighed me at all just took my word for it and at that time i was 14.7lb and 5ft 8lb so overweight and believe me after my loss and wedding etc ive put on a stone yet they have not said a word. I am eating healthy and exercising and losing around a lb a week at the moment but i will still have treat im not being unhealthy but i have never ever ever been in the ideal weight for my height chart i would look ill if i was ( i am a big chested girl too ) xx

MrsLouB · 11/06/2020 11:31

hey @Pattaz2711 it depends on what
progesterone you are on and how the nurse told you to take it. i have lubion and there are two needles one long to get it out of the vial then you swap to the smaller one to inject, but there are some others that are injected into the bottom ie muscle area which doe require the long needle lol xxx

Ails826 · 11/06/2020 12:16

Yes @MrsLoub !! Im only 5ft 2. Im like shall i just starve myself until saturday I dont want to be worried about weight and everything else!

Im in Australia, i have gone private. I was signed up for the equivalent of NGS here but my doctor terrified me and just made me feel like a number so we moved clinics.

I had my nurse meeting today then saturdat pick up meds and then hopefulllyyy my period comes on tuesday ! Although my injections and stuff seem different to everyone elses :/ but im trying not to look into it so much and let go a little bit xx

Mrbay · 11/06/2020 12:35

@Mrbay omg is that a jelly snake?! Jealous doesn't cover it!

Dbrook · 11/06/2020 13:40

@Mrbay those sweets look amazing!

@Ails826 Definitely don’t starve yourself, the most important thing is to keep eating healthy food and give your body the nutrition it needs to get through this. I think my clinic (private) has a cut off BMI of 30 so they still treat overweight people, just not those in the obese category.

@Pattaz2711 welcome and sorry you’re having such a hard time. I’ve found this forum really helpful so hope you find it a support too.

@HJF84 good luck this afternoon!

@elleceedee congrats on the promotion!

The embryologist phoned and 3 out of the 5 eggs fertilised. 1 was immature and the other just didn’t fertilise. Next update is on Saturday.

HJF84 · 11/06/2020 13:47

I'm joining the PUPO club. I have a 9-cell, grade 1 embie on board. Transfer was smooth and clear, and I could tell what was going on, on the screen! My other embie is also 9-cells but a grade 2. They are going to culture it to see if it makes it to blasto stage 🤞🏼

@ivfgottobepositive I just looked back over my old transfer notes - and yes they have grades on them. A mix of ones and twos. My best blasto was a 10-cell grade 1 on day 3, with the next best being a 7-cell grade 1. None of my grade 2s have ever made it to the stage where they were good enough to freeze. I had two other grade 1s, but they were slow developing and were still morula when they were transferred on day 5, so I'll never know if they made it to blasto or not

@dbrook Yay for the fertilised embies!

Mrbay · 11/06/2020 13:50

@takingthistooseriously - its for my DH as I don't really like them!

@Ails826 - I wouldn't crash diet, your body will hold on to it's reserves, Jump on the scales and then you can see what your BMI is and if you need to potentially push the appointment back.

@dbrook - that's really good numbers and positive thoughts for Saturday :)

OP posts:
MrsLouB · 11/06/2020 13:53

@Dbrook my clinic didnt say anything about a cut off but i guess at that time i was ok but see i dont agree with BMI it is not a true reflection as i am clinical obese BMI over 30 yet to look at me i am not i am a size 16 with hug boobs LMAO there are people way bigger than myself, also people who have muscle mass weigh the same but are not unhealthy so i just think its wrong. i eat healthy i work out but im just not a slim girl. Plus i hate it as weight fluctuates with us women this whole process makes u gain weight

YES @@Mrbay My DH has loads of those snacks and teeth in a massive tube in our summer house so we have our supply but i only like the harder fizzy ones like fangs or sours .

@Ails826 i dont see it being an issue you are eating right and getting the right vitmins and minerals and a size 10 for goodness sake, i dont see how they would give you medication etc if it was to stop becos of a weight issue. try and relax and see what happens.

ivfgottostaypositive · 11/06/2020 13:55

@hjf84

Congrats on being PUPO!! - going to be quite a few official test dates next week 🤞🤞🤣🤣

Dbrook · 11/06/2020 14:11

@MrsLouB My clinic may be stricter than most about it. I think the nurse explained it that a BMI over 30 might interfere with the dose of drugs they use, so maybe that’s not a problem if you’re using higher dose medication? Agree BMI is not a true reflector of health. It’s also really unfair for people with PCOS who find it really hard to lose weight but need fertility treatment.

@HJF84 congrats on being PUPO!

MrsLouB · 11/06/2020 14:25

@Dbrook yes but mine maybe a little to dont ask the right questions, i am not sure i was still classed as obese i think when i went first time not sure i think i still am but my BMI is higher now. i have struggled with weight my whole life i was diagnosed with PCOS and have a lot of symptoms and this was years of going to GP and now the clinic said oh no you dont have PCOS as your AMH Is very low 2.3! so i dont know what to think anymore. My TSH levels are high as well and i have symptoms of an under active thyroid but not so high the GPS would help.

Its a hard slog but i currently eat 1500 /1600 a day and walk around 5km at least 3-4 days a week, By all dietitians i should be losing way more than 1lb a week but for whatever reason i dont. So for me i will be healthy and i will probably be told off if this cycle goes well and i have to go back to the NHS x

MrsLouB · 11/06/2020 14:28

@dbrooks congrats on your numbers xx

@hjf84 welcome lovely xx now the wait begins i feel like its been a week already and only on day 2

Ails826 · 11/06/2020 14:32

Ahhh okay that makes me feel better, il see what they say on saturday when I go and pick up my medication.

Im feeling much more positive now i have spoken to the nurse about the plan however they keep telling me the first IVF is a bit like a test run really seeing how i respond my eggs his sperm etc .. bloody expensive test run isnt it hahaha

I am so glad I have this chat group!!!

MrsLouB · 11/06/2020 16:02

@Ails826 ha yes £10 odd on that test run i remeber the consultatn saying before we had even got to egg collection well we can do it this time and them next time... i was like erm next time this is all our savings its a one time deal. Of course when we where able to freeze two and my MIL and FIL offered to lend us the money for our FET it was a no brainier.

Just go with it and see what happens.

these ladies on here are my life line :)

BabySweet85 · 11/06/2020 16:18

Hi all. I thought I would join as I am a June cycle. We are having ICSI and I start injections tonight for short protocol. My first scan to check follicle count will be 19th June. I know I have low AFC unfortunately. This is my first time doing a cycle.

HT2101 · 11/06/2020 17:17

Congrats @HJF84 glad everything went smoothly! Will be keeping my fingers crossed for all you ladies on your 2WW.

Welcome @BabySweet85, hope you’re coping ok. First time can some times be a little overwhelming but you’ve got us ladies here to help answer any questions you may have.

BabySweet85 · 11/06/2020 17:47

Thank you so much @HT2101 I will keep people updated!

elleceedee · 11/06/2020 18:06

@BabySweet85 welcome and good luck with starting your injections tonight!

@HJF84 congratulations on being PUPO!

@Dbrook good fertilisation numbers. Good luck for your update on Saturday!

@Mrbay I am jealous of your haul! I have such a massive sweet tooth! Just had to text DH and tell him to pick up some sweets on his way home from work!

@Ails826 nice to see you back on here. Fingers crossed your period comes on time and you can get started!

Hope everyone else is doing ok! Thanks for all the nice messages about my job, I'm really pleased. Looks like I might be going back a couple of days a week the week after next... Feel a bit shocked as I really didn't expect to be even going back until the end of July due to being furloughed so was looking forward to a relaxing 2ww. I suppose work will take my mind off testing early won't it?!

Has anyone had any side effects from progynova? I can't remember if I have previously but I am so exhausted and seem to have a low-level headache constantly - wondering if this is the progynova or just me feeling under the weather?!?
