Hi ,

I've taken my second tablet on my first cycle and wondering if anyone is due to start there's soon or are around the same time as me?

I know there's already a clomid thread but I think I'd get pretty lost as I'm new to this so was hoping for people to keep each other occupied as we wait in anticipation!
Xx

ekp39 · 17/04/2020 07:57

Well I'm now 8 days late for my AF so took another HPT - ladies, what do you think? I'm I going mad or is there just the faintest of lines?! Xx

Hey @ekp39 I can see something too! Sorry I've only just seen this message! Did you do another test this morning?

I got my positive OPK on CD 15 @LottieDot thank you. On CD 21 now so one week down on the TWW! Desperately trying not to symptom spot but it's so hard not to. How are you getting on?

ekp39 · 19/04/2020 09:27

I did @GinIsTheOnlyTonic and got my BFP yesterday. Had to do 5 tests just to make sure! It's been a long road - 18 months and 2 MCs so I'm over the moon. Thanks for asking. Hope you get your BFP soon too xx

GinIsTheOnlyTonic · 19/04/2020 15:45

Oh I'm so pleased for you - nice to get some happy news Smile I hope it's a really sticky wriggly bean! Xxx

ekp39 · 19/04/2020 16:51

Ah thanks @GinIsTheOnlyTonic! Me too. Sending baby dust over to you xx

Etonmess20 · 20/04/2020 07:41

Hi ladies,

Hope you don't mind me joining, I'm just waiting AF so I can begin my first cycle of clomid.
DP & I have been TTC #1 for 17 months, all tests etc have been clear/normal so far. Really hoping clomid is our miracle 💫

ktl1a · 21/04/2020 15:22

@Etonmess20 will you still be starting the clomid despite the lack of monitoring? If so were you prescribed it by a consultant?
After ttc for 18 months I had a lap/dye which then resulted in a pregnancy, unfortunately I suffered a MMC and am now in to my third month of trying post-miscarriage. I have been thinking about arranging a private consultation in the hope of being prescribed a few months of clomid but didn't think you'd be allowed to tale it without monitoring? Also whether they would prescribe it considering I am ovulating (I just wonder if my eggs are good enough quality and thought clomid might help with this).
I wish you lots of baby dust x

GinIsTheOnlyTonic · 21/04/2020 15:33

Hello @Etonmess20 - good luck to you!

@ktl1a I am not being monitored. Was given 3 months of clomid and sent on my way. I actually just paid for a postal progesterone test and sent my sample back yesterday. Nervous for the results!

Etonmess20 · 21/04/2020 15:49

@ktl1a yes I am going to take my first tablet tonight I think (af arrived 1pm yesterday but with normal flow so I assume this counts as CD2). I was prescribed my clomid by my local fertility department (nhs). To be honest I hadn't given it too much thought as I wasn't aware (until after I received the prescription) that some people receive monitoring. From my conversation with the Dr she never mentioned an option of delaying so I'm unsure I'd have got monitoring of any description anyway.
I have had positive confirmation with a few tests I've had that I am ovulating & as my cycles are very regular I would assume I ovulate regularly too although I do wish I'd had the procedure you've had so I knew my tubes were clear.
Have you taken clomid before?

ktl1a · 21/04/2020 16:19

@Etonmess20 it's great that you are able to carry on with the clomid despite the coronavirus! Fingers crossed it works for you :)
I haven't had any fertility medications, only investigations, I would like to try something but with everything that's going on I think even private clinics aren't prescribing, if they were I would be more than happy to pay for it! I've also been researching letrazole (similar to clomid)... just needs to find a clinic that will prescribe via online consultation!

@GinIsTheOnlyTonic that's really exciting! Will be great to see whether the clomid is doing it's job, I am assuming that you don't usually ovulate?

Etonmess20 · 21/04/2020 16:28

@ktl1a I think timing wise I was very lucky to get the appointment in before lockdown although it does make me a bit sad to think we're now at the stage of having to take medication to help, but such is life.
Fingers crossed you can find somewhere that will prescribe you with Letrazole. Would that have been the next step for you had we not had all this going on?

LottieDot · 21/04/2020 16:31

Huge congratulations @ekp39 hope it goes well.

How are you getting on in the tww @GinIsTheOnlyTonic? AF showed for me late last night but I'm okay with it.

Welcome @Etonmess20 we're in a similar position ttc our first for nearly 2 years and all normal tests etc. How many months did they prescribe?

@ktl1a I only had monitoring the 1st month but know others dont get any monitoring. Hope you're able to sort something out.

Etonmess20 · 21/04/2020 16:38

@LottieDot I've been prescribed 4 months at the moment, how about you?
I think it's almost more frustrating everything has been normal so far as there's nothing to pinpoint it on (although obviously I do appreciate it is good there is no "problems"). If that makes any sense whatsoever!!

ktl1a · 21/04/2020 16:47

@Etonmess20 it sounds like your timing was perfect! Fingers crossed for you!
I'm not sure what my next step would have been, I have a feeling it would be IVF but as I have now managed to conceive naturally (albeit with the help of the op, although I'm not sure exactly what helped as the consultant didn't fins anything that would affect fertility) I would prefer trying alternate routes first! If I knew a private clinic would prescribe I would pay for it but the thought that we pay and then they say we just have to continue trying or IVF really worries me! I'll just have to keep searching I guess :(

@LottieDot that's good to know, thanks :)

GinIsTheOnlyTonic · 21/04/2020 17:27

Ah I'm sorry @LottieDot Sad been thinking of you.

I'm OK. Bit hormonal. CD 24 now so I'll know one way or another fairly soon! Apart from a few twinges and cramping nothing to write home about so I'm mentally prepared for another cycle.

@ktl1a I had 2 progesterone tests last year - one indicated ovulation and one didn't. I have endometriosis and had a laparoscopy in July last year to remove a large chocolate cyst on my left ovary and remove the adhesions etc from my reproductive organs and colon. The cyst has already started to grow back and is currently about 3cm so I have a feeling that my left ovary doesn't ovulate. Did the progesterone as a peace of mind kind of thing really to make sure the Clomid is working. My surgeon said my tubes were really badly damaged and when I looked at my discharge notes it says that they are blocked at the end where the egg is released Hmm. However the fertility consultant ordered an HSG and they said my tubes were fine. I'm totally confused by it to be honest and there doesn't seem to be much of a joined up service at the hospital really. All a bit disjointed.

Etonmess20 · 21/04/2020 17:58

@ktl1a I have heard previously that people have conceived after having the lap & dye, I don't know maybe if it's just a flush through that helps 🤷🏼‍♀️ especially if they didn't find anything when you had yours. I think it's definitely worth trying other things before IVF if there's a decent chance they could work for you.
Would you be NHS or private for IVF?

ktl1a · 21/04/2020 18:09

@GinIsTheOnlyTonic you poor thing! You really have been through it! So frustrating to not have proper answers or plans! Strange that the HSG was ok yet the discharge notes form the lap say different, perhaps you could get a second opinion? Are you private or NHS?

@Etonmess20 yes that's what I heard and I am really good that it did, i wouldn't change the fact that our baby happened but am obviously devastated that it wasn't meant to be. Originally we would have been NHS but with everything that's going on and the subsequent effect it will have on funding, waiting lists, etc... we may have to go private, we will do anything to get where we want to be tbh. Just so hard to know what to do/where to start and whether I am just being impatient! I just can't bear to wait another 6 months or more and be no further forward!

Etonmess20 · 21/04/2020 19:00

@ktl1a yeah i can't even imagine how horrible it must have been for you ❤️ really sorry for your loss
How old are you if you don't mind me asking?
It is frustrating, I totally get that & I think the difficulty is no one knows when things will get back to normal & what delay that will cause.
I am kind of worried now that I'm going to be taking clomid but if it doesn't work & then I have the lap & dye & my tubes are blocked then it will have all been pointless!

ktl1a · 21/04/2020 19:21

@Etonmess20 thanks hun, it was hard but you just have to keep going forward, you don't have a choice :( I'm 31 so still have time but not good at being patient... Oh bless you, could you have a HSG privatrly when things start getting back towards normality? Even if that's a month away you would have only done 1 round so won't have wasted much clomid?

Etonmess20 · 21/04/2020 19:44

@ktl1a yeah there isn't a choice is there unfortunately. I think the thing is no matter how old you are it doesn't make it any easier, I'm 27 & never thought I'd struggle.
Would be something to look at, not sure how much it would be but we could do it. I could even perhaps push my Dr again as she was really good before

ktl1a · 21/04/2020 19:55

@Etonmess20 we thought the same, everyome we know found it easy so thought we wpuld be the same, we became more desperate as each month passed and although I know there are other people that have been trying for much longer we just know that there is more to it and aren't willing to wait it out for much longer. Our doctor has been brilliant so far, I just worry that the funding will restrict appts and delay everything, if we had to find the money we would (somehow) but it's hard to know what to do. We are going to try and wait it out another month or two and if we haven't had any success by then we will look at our options. Hopefully we will both have our BFP's soon!

Etonmess20 · 21/04/2020 21:00

@ktl1a you'd hope that things will be not too far off back to "normal" in a couple of months.
It is really hard to know what to do, we could also find the money if we had to but it would be at the expense of other things & I think until we've exhausted what the NHS will offer I wouldn't be prepared to do that. Though of course everyone's different & it's a really personal decision. Hopefully neither of us will have to get that far! Are you working from home at the moment? DP & I are both wfh & I feel like it's taken the pressure off DTD time wise which can only be a good thing

ktl1a · 21/04/2020 21:28

@Etonmess20 yes definitly, I think I sometimes am so impatient that I forget that my body has been through a lot and I need to give it a chance to recover. I would like to wait for funding if possible as private is so expensive but if we need to we are willing to do it, I think we will wait for a couple of months and re-evaluate then, everyone should know whats going on with the virus a bit more by then too (hopefully). We are both furloughed at the moment and I definitly think it's helping to de-stress and have time together, hoped it had helped this month but unfortunately not so we are back to it again! We BD every 2 days leading up to/over ovulation, would do it more but worried it wouldn't help the swimmers, i've read that you should give them time to "re-group"... I think i've read too much haha! Hopefully having a bit more time at home together will help you this cycle :)

Etonmess20 · 21/04/2020 21:56

@ktl1a you have been through a lot by the sounds of things! Hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer to either get your BFP or to be able to take further steps towards getting it.
It's nice to be able to de stress a bit isn't it, TTC all the time is so emotionally draining, especially with the constant disappointment
We're going to try the sperm meets the egg this month & I took my first clomid a few hours ago! Hopefully I won't wake up too hot & horrible during the night 😬
