Hi ,

I've taken my second tablet on my first cycle and wondering if anyone is due to start there's soon or are around the same time as me?

I know there's already a clomid thread but I think I'd get pretty lost as I'm new to this so was hoping for people to keep each other occupied as we wait in anticipation!

Have you had a HSG/HyCoSy done yet?
Did she indicate what other investigations they could do?
I've received an appointment letter today with the head consultant on 9th November to discuss our move onto IVF if the next two cycles are unsucessful. I wasn't expecting it through yet so it's a bit of a shock but good they're proactive at least

I was quite sore this month as well when I'm not normally, hopefully it's a good thing 🤞🏻

Yep i had the hsg last month everything was fine and she was happy with that. It depends what happens in the next 5 months after clomid as then il have to research and find a good private clinic. Fingers crossed though!
Etonmess20 · 26/08/2020 18:35

Is there many good private providers round you?
Fingers crossed you won't need them though!!

OAK11 · 26/08/2020 23:50

Hiya @Lemoncake5 I became a bit obsessed with OPKS and always had a Negative result each time. I should have used them after this round of clomid, I definitely will on my next round though if this time is unsuccessful. I do get aches and pains on on my sides (one side at a time) but I seem to get that all the time And can never tell from CM so can never seem to link it to anything. Not had scans this round, only had scans on my first round. Doc just said I wouldn’t need them for second cycle and then prescribed 3 cycles worth. Good luck to you too!! 😊 x

Hey @Etonmess20 we are trying for our first baby, and have sadly always had BFN! 😩 we are going through the NHS. Do you get any symptoms with clomid? Good luck! Fingers crossed this is your cycle 🤞🏼 X

Lemoncake5 · 27/08/2020 14:38

Hi all,

Please could you give me an idea as to whats happening. So im on cycle 15. This is my first cycle on clomid. I had a follicle scan on cycle day 12 which showed i should ovulate this week from my right side.

Cd 14 i took pic of the same opk just 3 mins apart look at the difference. Surely its not 2.33. The other day one showed 8.24!! But few seconds late 0.45. I take the picture in the same lighting each time.

Hello! I'm on my first cycle of Clomid, so glad to find a thread with others in the same boat. I'm 33 and trying for my first. I don't have PCOS but I do have a very low AMH of 2.1. On CD6 today and just had my scan and it showed 4 follicles, one of which looked promising. When we first spoke about it my consultant said something about progesterone after ovulation but I've not had a prescription and she didn't mention it at my scan. I only just remembered, so didn't ask her. Has anyone else taken progesterone with Clomid?

Hello, Did she mean blood test for progesterone? Its to see if you dod actually Ovulate and to have it done a week before your period.
Lemoncake5 · 28/08/2020 00:12

Im having really bad cramps tonight and feel bloated. It feels heavy down there. Im on cycle day 16 now. Im actually a bit worried? It feels like im about to start my period. Its like my uterus is contracting!! Is this normal?? Has anyone experienced this??

Dbop100 · 28/08/2020 09:54

@Lemoncake5 oh dear is it still happening? I've never had this I'm afraid sorry. Do you know when you ovulated / could you be ovulating?

It wouldn't be a test for progesterone as I've already had that, I thought she mentioned giving me some to aid implantation. But I could have misremembered. I've emailed to double check!x

Lemoncake5 · 28/08/2020 14:58

The cramps, actually it was more of a pulling tugging sensation subsided and we just dtd early morning. I didnt expect my opk to be darker than yesterdays, pre mom says low but i can see how the line has progressed since cd 6. Does it look positive or do you think it could get darker tomorrow? My cycles are usually 32-35 days so maybe clomid hasnt effected my original cycle length?

Etonmess20 · 28/08/2020 16:20

@Dbop100 welcome!! Good luck with your first cycle of clomid. Really good news about your 4 follicles, that sounds really promising!
Sorry I don't have any experience of the progesterone so can't hell there!

Dbop100 · 28/08/2020 16:30

Thanks @Etonmess20 no worries I just heard back and she is going to give me progesterone, starting it 2 days after my LH surge. Fingers crossed it helps!

@Lemoncake5 glad the cramps went, sorry I'm awful at reading the sticks I use the CB Digital's. I would say it's possibly a positive, but I would just keep testing until it starts to go lighter to be sure.

Etonmess20 · 28/08/2020 16:40

@Dbop100 glad you managed to get it sorted, is it a pessary, have heard of people on here having it in that form previously?

Lauren87E · 28/08/2020 21:46

@Etonmess20

Hey! How you doing? I had a positive OPK yesterday which fell on CD15 which is massively unusual for me when not on any meds???

Had a telephone call from the clinic today and the funding has gone through. We have our appointment on the 28th of September to discuss our health plan! Eek! I can't believe this is all happening!

I have just quickly scanned through the other messages I've missed, so tell me about this appointment in November? Sounds really positive xx

Etonmess20 · 29/08/2020 08:12

@Lauren87E hi, I'm good thank you, how are you? That's exciting that you have got a positive OPK, I had read clomid can still have an effect for a few months after you finish it so maybe that's what's happened?

Oh my gosh that's SO exciting!!! You'll have to let me know how it goes but I am absolutely over the moon for you to be getting somewhere with it all! Are you feeling a little less anxious about it all now?

So the November appointment is for if the last 2 cycles with clomid are unsucessful. When the fertility nurse talk about it at my scan I kind of thought it would be like a "we'll wait & see nearer the time" type thing so when the appointment came through I was quite shocked. That will just be a telephone appointment to discuss our next steps (nurse basically said IVF but that we could try other medications while we're on the waiting list)

I don't know about you but the clomid to IVF feels like a huge jump.....but I don't know if it's to do with them not having to spend lots of money of other treatments before just doing IVF anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️ I looked into IUI briefly (I think it was IUI anyway) as you can have it privately for under £1k but doesn't seem the NHS would offer that to me & wondered why

How's things with you otherwise? Xxx

Lauren87E · 29/08/2020 09:29

@Etonmess20
It sounds like they are really on top of it at your clinic. I think your right about going straight into the IVF. I have had no investigations other than bloods and a scan at the start and Dave had a semen analysis. So I think when people have been trying for a certain length of time, and they qualify for funding, they must just go straight for it rather than waste more time and money on drugs. I honestly think that if it wasn't for COVID that we would have been referred for the IVF funding sooner.

I am feeling a little anxious, and I'm also worried about having to take last minute time off and pissing my boss off, but that's because I don't like upsetting people, but my boss is supportive so it's in my head really. Dave is over the moon, and we just smiled all day yesterday!

I have a friend that has been through IVF and had a successful pregnancy on her second transfer and now has a beautiful daughter. She had one hell of a nightmare time with it all, so it's nice to have someone to ask questions.

Yeah I think your right about the letrozole still in my system as I found a bit of a thickish lump in my left breast and the dr has referred me to the breast clinic. She thinks it's a side effect of the drugs and she wasn't concerned but thinks I should have it checked anyway.

I don't know whether to continue taking my supplements so I will ask at the appointment in September. How ironic it would be to fall pregnant before we start treatment.

Hope your having a lovely weekend, we have a tip run booked, so will be sorting through all of our crap today lol! Exciting times x

Lemoncake5 · 29/08/2020 20:49

Hi all,
So as im not using premom opk sticks apparently it wont pick up the ratio as good.
Based on the opks i would say ovulated cd 15 and saw a positive cd 16. This goes with my cramps on cd15 and follicle scan on cd 12.
As you can cd17 (today) is much lighter than past two days.
So should i count tomorrow as 1dpo?? Best to carry on bding until cd21?

@Lauren87E I think you're right, I think if they'd probably end up doing more cheaper treatments with worse success rates then have to do IVF anyway. Just feels like a sledge hammer to crack a walnut! 😂

Definitely don't feel stressed about that, it is what it is unfortunately. Is your boss aware of the situation/will you tell them before you begin treatment once you know a bit more about timelines etc? I have actually seen that my company will provide upto 10 days fully paid for fertility treatment. But it does feel a bit odd telling others, nobody else even knows we're TTC except my very best friend.

So nice you have someone to talk to about it all, I don't actually know anyone closely who has he IVF so hopefully I'll just muddle along if I get there.

Definitely get the lump checked, sure it'll be nothing but better safe than sorry with that type of thing!

No harm continuing the supplements as I suppose they'll give you the best chance with IVF anyway won't they? But you're right, it would be the dream to have to call to cancel your IVF because you've got a natural BFP! There's always hope!!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend too, tip run is always good for the soul to get rid of some stuff! We've had a fairly chilled weekend so far, we're off to Whitstable to the seaside tomorrow which I'm really excited for!
We've also given notice on our rented flat to move before end of September....getting pretty tight for space in this flat with all the new house purchases 😂😂😂
Hope you get some "me time" this weekend, you definitely need to take the time before your treatment to pamper yourself & get yourself ready for your next steps xxx

Lauren87E · 19/09/2020 20:17

Hello @Etonmess20 how are you? Have you moved yet? How's everything going?
I'm sure we have lots to catch up on xx

Etonmess20 · 22/09/2020 08:15

Hi @Lauren87E so nice to hear from you!! I'm not too bad thank you, how are you?
We exchanged yesterday & move on Friday so I am really excited now!!
Other than that everything's the same really, how's things with you? Have you started IVF yet? Xxx

Lauren87E · 22/09/2020 08:35

@Etonmess20 OMG how exciting!!!
I bet you can't believe it's all happening. I'm so pleased for you. No haven't started yet. We have our appointment next week. Getting nervous about it all now. My grandma passed away on bank holiday Monday and the funeral was last week. So so sad and unexpected. She had a fall and her heart gave up. At least she wasn't in the care home long and she still remembered who we all were, so it's a kindness really.
We have secured an allotment plot in our village, and I'm hoping it will be a really good distraction whilst going through treatment.
Back at work full speed, looking likely that we will have a second lockdown in October and I'm petrified it will have an effect on our transfer. But we will just have to see xx

Etonmess20 · 23/09/2020 09:31

@Lauren87E it feels like an age since we got our offer accepted, just so happy to be close now! Beyond excited to move in!
So sorry to hear about your grandma, it's heart breaking isn't it? After my grandad passed away about 8 weeks ago I've felt really guilty about not seeing him due to lockdown ☹️ I do feel comforted that he had a long and happy life & he knew he was loved by his family & friends & it sounds as though your grandma was the same. I think all you can do is be kind to yourself about it & just try to remember the good times.
Very exciting about your appointment!!!! You'll have to let me know how it happens & what they do. Have they given you an indication of what type of IVF it'll be & what your timelines look like?
I'm keeping everything crossed that you're able to have your treatment without interruptions 🤞🏻 xxx

Lauren87E · 13/12/2020 11:47

@Etonmess20

HELLO!!!!! How are you? It's been sooooo long! Xx

Etonmess20 · 13/12/2020 12:17

@Lauren87E helloooooo!!!! I'm not too bad thanks, how are you?
It has been ages, how's your treatment been going? Xxx

Lauren87E · 13/12/2020 12:18

@Etonmess20
I am just waiting for my embryo transfer. They managed to collect 7 eggs, three fertilised.
How are you? Where are you with your treatment? How's the house? Xx
