Hi ,

I've taken my second tablet on my first cycle and wondering if anyone is due to start there's soon or are around the same time as me?

I know there's already a clomid thread but I think I'd get pretty lost as I'm new to this so was hoping for people to keep each other occupied as we wait in anticipation!

@Lauren87E hi, how are you? How did your appointment go?

AF due tomorrow according to Ovia & I'm a bit crampy so that's probably me out for another month 😢

Lauren87E · 09/08/2020 10:51

@Etonmess20

Hello, so sorry I haven't been very good this month with messaging.

The appointment went really well and we both managed to attend together. We are now going through with IVF. The consultant completed our forms and they should be finalised with the CCG in the next three weeks.
The whole process is 6-7 weeks and I think implantation (just a rough estimate) will be in October time.

I'm extremely nervous, it all seems very real. I will have to self inject for 10 days and then do a trigger injection the night before egg collection.
I can't wait for my IVF pack to come through so I can read it all properly and not rely on google.

We are desperately trying to get the house finished so we have space for a little person lol. I was relieved to hear our changes are 40-50% because of my age and our circumstances. I just hope it happens. The pressure seems to be so consuming and I'm reading a really good book at the moment about fertility and it's really helping my mindset.

Hope your doing well, sorry your feeling crampy, but your not out until Af arrives. Have you thought about IVF at all? I don't know what your CCG funding is like where you are? X

Etonmess20 · 09/08/2020 10:59

@Lauren87E that's really positive that you're taking steps forward. Really pleased for you!
You'll have to let me know how you get on with it all! The success rates sound really positive actually & you've got plenty of things on your side so there's no reason you should be one of the lucky ones!

Ooh what book is it? Feel like my mindset needs work today! Feeling really shit about it all (same as this time every month!) will be going onto my 4th cycle of clomid with absolutely nothing to show for it.

I imagine we'll end up with next steps before Christmas (they can't keep me on the clomid forever surely!) but don't know whether there would be anything else they'd try before IVF. We do have one funded cycle here I believe. What are you entitled to in your area?

Lauren87E · 09/08/2020 13:48

@Etonmess20

I've added the screenshot for you. It's a real positive read.

Yes that's the same as us. One cycle (3 transfers) and I think in my opinion that I was on clomid and then letrozole for so long because of Covid. I think that if it had never happened we would be going through the IVF process. You can only have four cycles of letrozole.

Everything will work out, it's just time. Time goes so slow when trying to conceive, but you will get there. They can't keep you on meds indefinitely. And when you get to IVF you may feel anxious like me. Let's pray I am successful and I can share with you my experiences.

I hope you manage to feel better soon xx

Etonmess20 · 09/08/2020 17:41

@Lauren87E oh thank you, I'll have a look at it!

I think I'm just in need of some positivity, it's such an up & down journey isn't it? Just so frustrating to effectively feel no further forward 🤷🏼‍♀️ I ovulated before anyway so to have that confirmed this month (although helpful) didn't indicate it was working being on clomid any better than my body usually works if that makes sense?

Do you think it's the unknown about IVF that's making you feel anxious? I suppose it's a lot of pressure as well when you're limited to a certain amount of treatment for free.

Thanks for the positive words, really needed them today 😘 xx

Lauren87E · 09/08/2020 17:57

@Etonmess20
It is such an up and down experience.
Like you I was ovulating before clomid but the consultant thinks I didn't ovulate every month??
To be honest my cycles were anything from 30-37, what were yours?

I have tried the SMEP method, supplements, hanging my legs in the air, raspberry leaf tea etc etc and I'm still no further forward until now. We have tried for FOUR years and granted, we didn't really start monitoring and tracking it all until 2018.

Mindset is so important and I have had awful days, really dark ones. And some days where I don't think about it at all. This book I'm reading is really good, and I WILL be going into IVF with a positive attitude, I MUST NOT let the pressure get to me.

To use one of our frozen eggs (if we manage to get as many as we can) will be something just over £1k which isn't an impossible amount to find quickly. So I will just tell myself that it will happen, it's just about the right TIME!!

Please feel free to share anything with me, because it's very likely I will or have felt the same. Everywhere I turn there are pregnant women or people falling pregnant quickly, but I just tell myself that I am busy at the moment getting the house ready, so I can wait a bit longer.

Not having an explanation for infertility is fucking awful (sorry it need the big F) because you can't point the blame to anything! Looking after our bodies and being kind to ourselves is the only way we can get through it!!! Thank goodness for these forums and for good books.

Treat yourself to something in the next few days, do not tell yourself you can't because of the house move, it doesn't have to cost a lot, even if it's just a nice bath bomb or a packet of your favourite sweets! Even better....meet up with a girlfriend for lunch xxxxx

Etonmess20 · 09/08/2020 18:16

@Lauren87E I've always been like 28/29 days so I assume I probably was ovulating regularly, never been told otherwise but who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah I'm the same, we've tried different bits (probably not as much as you) but I really can't imagine how difficult it is after 4 years. We'll be 2 years in October but I've had a fair amount of cycles where I haven't monitored (just regular DTD every other day). It boggles my mind how easy most people find it (most would have got a BFP now) when people like us have found it so difficult

You are 100% right about mindset, I'm really not a negative person but I just feel so shit about it all sometimes. You see people I went to school with who seem to not struggle at all (obviously you never really know but that's how it seems). Like you say, having nothing to blame makes it feel more unfair. We have a stable relationship, good jobs, loving family & a home. We're ready in every sense but it just won't happen. It sounds like you're the same too!

£1k isn't too bad I guess, like you say, if push came to shove that money is reasonably easy to find. I do believe it will happen for you, but as you say, it's just time isn't it? I'd be really interested to hear your journey as you go through as I may not be too far behind you.

Definitely thank goodness for these forums, I really do appreciate your support! Always here whenever you need a chat/moan too!

I might just have to treat myself, if you insist 😏😏😏 xxx

Lauren87E · 11/08/2020 12:54

Hi @Etonmess20 how are you doing today?
I'm starting to get worried that we will have a second wave when we start IVF and I'm trying not to worry, but it's hard.

I'm off out for a nice walk and meet up with a friend in a cafe later, so that's keeping my spirits up. It's incredibly hot here in Wiltshire and the nights are so blooming muggy, but at least the sunshine keeps me in high spirits so I mustn't complain.

I'm due af tomorrow but not having any signs of it coming so I think it will be a light one this month. Had the most vivid dream last night, woke up sweating...thank goodness it wasn't real.

Off to the gym tonight for the first time since March! I'm just going to do a little bit of weights and some yoga stretches, see how it is in there.
Hope your having a lovely day xx

Etonmess20 · 11/08/2020 13:58

Hi @Lauren87E I'm alright thank you, how are you? Oh no, try not to think like that. The truth is it could happen at absolutely anytime but you can't live your life like that ☹️ I'm feeling the same about our new house but I think the more you think "what if" the more stressed it makes you.

Ooooh that sounds lovely & just what you need! It's also been absolutely horrendously muggy here & to top it off I have a horsefly bite that I think is infected that is spreading a lovely hot red angry rash up my leg 🙃 close to amputating my own leg if I'm honest! Drs told me to call back this afternoon to see if they can fit me in cus the pharmacist looked mildly horrified when I showed her this morning 😂

That's so strange, I hate dreams like that where they're super vivid, always really throws you off when you wake up. Hoping for no AF for you 🤞🏻 do you normally get lots of symptoms she's coming?

Have you heard anymore about your next steps? Is it literally starting treatment ASAP or is there a long winded red tape process that needs to be got through first?

Hope you enjoy the gym, that will definitely keep your mood good! We went out to exercise first thing this morning before it got too hot 🥵

Xx

FieldsAndSun · 11/08/2020 21:22

Hi, could I please join this thread?
A bit about my history, we've been TTC for 21 months, all tests have come back normal so we are non the wiser, apart from a slightly low progesterone Day 21 level so I was prescribed Clomid. I've just taken my first 5 pills for this cycle and I'm very nervous. I regularly spot and cramp before my period for four or five days...I'm scared that this will still happen, I've heard the progesterone gel Crinone can be used alongside Clomid to stop spotting, has anyone used it or Cyclogest? Any recommendations for its use?

Etonmess20 · 11/08/2020 21:49

@FieldsAndSun welcome! Sorry I've got no experience of that so can't be of any help!
How have you found taking the clomid? (Especially during such hot weather!)
Have you been offered monitoring scans etc?

Ps- don't be nervous, you'll be fine!

Lemoncake5 · 11/08/2020 21:58

This is so frustrating. Just waiting for my period to start so i can take clomid. Ive had sore boobs all week resorted to not wearing a bra today Confused
@FieldsAndSun did you any side effects from taking the clomid? Just bd everyday second day lol

FieldsAndSun · 11/08/2020 23:46

Thanks Eton and Lemoncake I know I should be positive but after so many failed cycles I'm nervous the clomid won't work...I have felt bloated and emotional on the clomid and quite sore where I think my ovaries are...

FieldsAndSun · 12/08/2020 00:05

I haven't been offered any monitoring scans no so I'm just going with it...sending baby dust to you all, its a real struggle that not many people understand

Etonmess20 · 12/08/2020 07:43

@FieldsAndSun completely get that feeling - all you can do is try, there are other options if it doesn't work or if it doesn't suit you (I know someone else from this forum was given Letrozole afterwards).

Tbh it can make you feel a bit bloated & crap, I normally get a couple of days where it makes me like that but it does pass I promise. I definitely found the first month the worst but you get used to it

Sending lots of positive vibes, hoping you feel less rubbishy today!

FieldsAndSun · 12/08/2020 09:24

Thank you Eton, I’m feeling more positive today as have worked out a plan in case it doesn’t work. I’m 35 so I feel I have to act quickly now, kind of wished I hadn’t tried naturally for nearly two years but I was convinced all it needed was time....Anyway now I’m ready for treatment. We will give Clomid alone one go, then we will see our private fertility consultant for Clomid plus a trigger shot and HCG. If that doesn’t work we will do Clomid plus trigger shot, IUI and HCG for three cycles. Then finally IVF.

The NHS gave us a 6 months supply of Clomid but I don’t want to wait that long before moving onto the next stage given my age.

Etonmess20 · 12/08/2020 09:50

@FieldsAndSun that sounds a really good & positive plan & sometimes that's what you need to be able to stay positive! Would the NHS find you any IVF or any further treatment after clomid or will you have to go private?

Lemoncake5 · 12/08/2020 12:24

Quick question- say you have had all the tests and even clomid pn the nhs- if we were to go private would they run all the tests again leven the hsg? Or could the consultant foward everything on?

Etonmess20 · 12/08/2020 12:52

@Lemoncake5 I believe that you'd be able to request copies of your results & take them with you to a private doctor. I know you can request copies of medical records through your GP so assume it would be the same as that!

Lemoncake5 · 12/08/2020 13:35

Thank you for your reply. Yes because i just think the costs would go significantly up if same tests were carried out again. How long would a course of ivf take If previous tests were done with nhs? 4 weeks? Or longer? Im just trying to prepare with possible situations we might face.

Etonmess20 · 12/08/2020 14:13

@Lemoncake5 not a clue, sorry

FieldsAndSun · 12/08/2020 22:05

Thanks Eton, the NHS wouldn't fund our IVF so we would have to go private as DH already has a child...
Lemoncake We went to a private clinic after 9 months to get a second opinion on my spotting...the doctor said at the time we could try an HCG injection to extend my luteal phase and increase progesterone to hopefully help with implantation. I described all the tests I'd had up to that point, we did do a consultation and my AMH level was tested, I'd had ultrasounds with the NHS but I hadn't had my AMH level tested so I wanted to know what it was.
I had a hycosy to check my uterus and Fallopian tubes with the NHS but didn't need that again with the private clinic...he was happy to go straight to a medicated cycle after the initial consultation. Hope that helps x

FieldsAndSun · 12/08/2020 22:06

After 9 months of TTC I mean x

Lemoncake5 · 13/08/2020 05:20

I have started my period! Never thought id actually be happy to say that in the ttc joirney. Im amazed i started exactly on time... This means i start clomid tomorrow for the first time... I am so nervous... scared....will need to call in to book for a follicle tracking scan. Is there a thread for clomid buddies?
