Hi ,

I've taken my second tablet on my first cycle and wondering if anyone is due to start there's soon or are around the same time as me?

I know there's already a clomid thread but I think I'd get pretty lost as I'm new to this so was hoping for people to keep each other occupied as we wait in anticipation!

That’s great Lemoncake I totally understand the mixture of nerves and excitement... I’d like to join a Clomid buddies thread too

FieldsAndSun · 13/08/2020 09:29

I can’t see a thread though...maybe I’ll set one up x

Lemoncake5 · 13/08/2020 09:57

Awesome! Thanks :)

@Lauren87E how are things with you? Any further updates on your next steps?

I've been to the hospital for a scan this morning & they said I've already ovulated (CD14 today but had peak OPK yesterday). My fertility nurse said another 2 rounds of medication (to take me to 6 cycles) then I will be referred for IVF if we are still unsuccessful. She did confirm we'd get two funded cycles but that the waiting list round here is a year currently ☹️ x

@Lemoncake5 hi, not entirely sure as she didn't say. I got a high OPK Saturday (I use the clear blue advanced ones with the 3 different results). I then got a peak yesterday so I would assume between Saturday & this morning. I did have another follicle that was c13mm so not sure if that one will go too? She did say it could continue to grow so who knows.

What's your normal CD to get a positive?
Fingers crossed it's good news from your scan!

Oh we need an empty bladder for this scan right? I cant recall if i did in previous scans lol
To be honest i havent ever tracked my cycle , my period sometimes could be a week or two late or even on time but i have a usual 35 day cycle. But i guess clomid will make me ovulate much earlier. Literally just bding everyday since finishing clomid on cd 6. Ooh thats good 13mm it doubles each day? Releases when its 18mm?? Not sure myself so much conflicting information online. At least you ovulated and if you dont catch this cycle you know from this cycle roughly when you ovulated. Was this first cycle on clomid?

Etonmess20 · 24/08/2020 14:21

Yeah I had an empty bladder for the scan. I have been having right side ovary pain yesterday & this morning & that was the side she said had ovulated so that fits.
Think clomid will make your cycle more regular & the OPKs will help track it too. How have you found d the side effects?

I think she said grows around 2mm a day & release around 18mm, so maybe it won't release this month as it won't get big enough.

This is my 4th cycle & I am unexplained currently as I did ovulate & have regular periods before clomid. DP also has had all tests & is fine.

Ah okay- i didnt have any symptoms to be honest except maybe hot flush which lasted a min on two days. The day before i had left ovary twinges and yesterday my right was sore. Guess i will find out whats happening in a bit. Its a curse and a blessing when they say its unexplained i feel that there is always a reason and it can be found with extensive testing.
Etonmess20 · 24/08/2020 15:57

@Lemoncake5 maybe but unless you want to spend thousands privately to get to the route cause then unfortunately you have to take what the NHS says don't you? If there was an easy answer then they'd find it

Very true! I had my scan and it went well but i left confused and even asked a nurse to clarify but she was not sure.
So they want me to take a progrsterone blood test a week before my period. My periods are usually 35 days. That would mean a blood test on cycle day 28. But if im taking clomid wont that shorten my cycle and i should get a blood test on cd21???

Etonmess20 · 24/08/2020 17:02

I suppose the nurse you had your appointment with would be the best person for that question. I would assume day 21 means actually day 21 but they'll be able to tell you.
Did they tell you the size of follicles & your lining thickness?

Nope even the nurse coudnt tell me. Maybe il keep using opk and hope pre mom is accurate. She said my lining was perfect cant remember i think she said 9mm and i will ovulate this week but said she will send a detailed letter in the post.
Etonmess20 · 24/08/2020 20:04

Bit poor that even your own nurse couldn't tell you because surely they tell you when to book in for? You should definitely push it because you don't want to waste your time going the wrong day & receiving misleading results
For my scans I've had to email the consultants secretary on CD1 then she books me in within the period they need to do the scan so it takes out the guesswork of me having to specify a day as they know when it should be, if that makes sense?

The nurse tried to explain but at the end said ignore what i said im getting you confused justngo by your previous cycle. Which was 35 days so i should go cycle day 28 but then isnt clomid going to make me ovulate sooner as consultant said i should ovulate in the next few days judging by the scan. Lol honestly it just cant be straight foward. Il go by my cm , ovulation pain and opks. If i get a peak end of this week then il know which week to go in for. It’d be so much easier if My body just worked clockwork and i had a 28 day cycle clomid or not lol

@Etonmess20

Hey 👋 I am just waiting to naturally ovulate this month as I am no longer on letrozole!
I called the clinic today to ask about the funding as I haven't heard back yet, I imagine there is a delay because of the big C!! I'm having some sort of Woopie cushion detox at the moment with my belly....lol! I don't know if I am detoxing from nine months of hormone treatment that my skin has broken out and I can't stop 💨 (sorry)

I have also noticed a thickening of breast tissue on my left breast so I have called the drs to just double check. I feel less emotional this month and actually feeling positive! The book I read has really helped my mindset and I feel....ok!

So tell me more about your appointment. Will they put you on letrozole next until you wait for IVF? And is it because of your CCG that the wait list is so long? Is there anything you can do to help speed it up? How is the house situation going and most of all, are you ok!!??? Xxx

Etonmess20 · 25/08/2020 07:26

@Lauren87E

Hi! Do you just have to sort the funding out then you're good to go & get started?
Hahahahaha oh bless you, that's hilarious 😂 (the 💨) it does make you wonder the effects this medication has been having on us that we haven't noticed. I've actually noticed I can be quite bloated on clomid, did you notice the same? Also very annoying about your skin breaking out, that's never good! But hopefully your hormones will normalise again then your skin will clear up!
Think you've done the right think to ring your GP, put your mind at rest! That's really good you're feeling positive though. Did they say how long your wait is likely to be before you're able to get started?
She said there was other medications I could try so I assume so. Think the waiting list is for the CCG, we've been TTC long enough & meet the criteria but she said the backlog from the rona has caused significant delays ☹️ but it may have gone back down a bit by November when they'll be adding us to the list. She said I don't need to worry, time on my side with age, might get pregnant naturally in the meantime etc.
House is moving along, we've just had our last query answered so we'll be signing contracts this week & hopefully exchanging very soon then completing my mid September I'd imagine! It's also my birthday in early September so it's all go here! 😂 we've also been told we'll be wfh until at least November now. But yeah I am actually ok too thank you, I had a bit of a think about it all on the way home from my appointment yesterday but trying not to dwell on the negativity.
How's your house coming on? & are you all good otherwise? Xxx

Lauren87E · 25/08/2020 12:13

@Etonmess20
I've just phoned the clinic and they've said it can take up to 6 weeks for the funding to go through so it's been just over two weeks so far.
She did say Wiltshire CCG are really quick so fingers crossed it won't be long.
I imagine if all being well I will start IVF in October time.
Yes I had lots of bloating on Clomid and on letrozole! And I definitely think it's taken a toll on my body. I've put on some extra weight, although this could also be due to lockdown too..but I started clomid in November 2019 so who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️
I imagine that by November you will stand a better chance of wait times. They have to give you a wait time guideline, but that's worse case scenario! And like you have been advised, you have time on your side. Sounds like you are about to be extremely busy over the next few months with the house move that you won't have time to fit in any IVF treatment without it taking a toll on your mental health!
So be kind to yourself and think about perhaps booking a get away, it could be the last one with just the two of you and you really deserve it.
Try and keep yourself as busy as you can and relax, you know that you will have IVF in the not so distant future, so it WILL happen.
I suppose if your anything like me, you want it all now, and that's so frustrating. When I think of the four years we have been trying I just cannot quite believe it, and now the possibility that we could have a successful pregnancy through IVF is actually quite daunting, sounds so strange, but what I mean is that we will be having actual dates and times etc of when it could possibly happen!! Rather than a natural off guard pregnancy. Does that make sense?
I hope I don't suffer with hyper stimulation and end up having to do it all again and there be complications, but I am adamant to go into it all with a positive mind set and not stress.
Stress is so cancerous that I just have to park it!
How's your fitness going? I'm just about to book onto some classes to get my happy hormone going again! Xx

Etonmess20 · 25/08/2020 12:57

@Lauren87E that's such good news & so quick for you!
I think when you're on medication like that it kind of changes you in a slow way so you don't necessarily notice the effects, I'm looking forward to coming off them if I'm honest. I'm also a bit puzzled as to why they want to try letrozole seeing as the clomid has worked (eg- ovulation rather than BFP) but I suppose it's just something else to try in the meantime 🤷🏼‍♀️
That's true to be honest, I think it would possibly be too much all at once if I was on similar timelines to you & starting in October. Everything happens for a reason doesn't it so whenever it happens will be the right time. Trying to look at it positively 😂 you're similar age to me aren't you? I think you're right btw, it's so daunting to think it's straight to IVF. Didn't think at the age of 27 I'd be saying that. I also worry that we'll have one DC then won't be able to have anymore, irrational I know.
I agree that I want it all & want it no, think we're both very similar in that respect. I also like the idea of knowing it will be a certain time/date, does make it easier to plan I guess.
You're definitely doing the right thing trying to be positive, you've got to make the best of things haven't you? Do you think you'll manage to get away before you start IVF?
Fitness is not doing too bad thank you, difficult in this terrible weather though! Sounds like you're really getting into it too, which will only help your mindset xxx

Hi Ladies,
New on here and this is the most recent thread regarding clomid.
My partner and I have been TTC for 3 years, We are on the TWW of our second round of clomid. (We had to have a 3 month break from our first round due to COVID and the fertility departments not proceeding with any fertility apts/medication. Completely understandable of course.) First cycle I had scans every 2-3 days for follicles/eggs and there was 1 but sadly we clearly didn’t DTD as much as we should. (Partner works nights I work days so some days can be tricky as we don’t see each other)
I have PCOS which has only recently been diagnosed in the last year by docs even though I always knew something wasn’t right! Why don’t these doctors listen to us sometimes ay!? We know our bodies the most! Lol 😅 ANYWAYS...
With such irregular periods it’s always hard to know how long to wait until I take a test? I have very sore nipples (sorry for TMI😂) but as that’s one side affects of clomid I just continue to wait for AF as that’s the only symptom/side affect I have.
I am ready for AF to make her arrival when she eventually does with our 3rd round of clomid tablets waiting.
How are all you ladies taking clomid getting on?
X

Hiya, For clomid are you using opks? To be honest ive never tracked my cycle but i am this time as it is my first time trying clomid. Have you had scans for the current round of clomid? Just dtd as much as possible a week after taking the last tablet. Do you not get any aches or pains on either side? Or watery cm? Good luck!!
Etonmess20 · 26/08/2020 10:13

Hi @OAK11 & welcome!!

Have you been having your clomid through NHS or privately? If NHS then your area are doing really well with the monitoring scans, most of us get a max of one scan per cycle or nothing at all!
Fingers crossed this is your cycle, will this be your first baby? Have you had any BFPs before?

I'm not doing too bad thanks, I'm on cycle 4 & just gone into my TWW now!

Yes very lucky if nhs are doing that many scans. My consultant just did the one for the first cycle and thats it. :/ How are you feeling@Etonmess20? I hate the waiting game that comes with this ttc journey! Hope you’re all well. :)
Etonmess20 · 26/08/2020 11:37

I got one on my third cycle & had one for this cycle (4th) but think it would have been for the earlier cycles had it not been for coronavirus!

Yeah I'm alright thanks @Lemoncake5 are you?
You get used to the bloody waiting don't you?

I was told how they will check my progesterone and if it shows i ovulated then they wont need to see me and i can resume clomid for 6 months and after that i guess private. But if i dont i think she said they will investigate further. I just hate being brushed off or not having someone be a little sympathetic and explain in detail. Ive just learnt more by researching myself and i was able to ask necessary questions. Im okay, i had cramps last night so i think I have ovulated and felt sore. Will be testing in a bit to see. Yeh i think its just cruel each time we see that negative after waiting for so long.
