Clomid cycle1

Hi ,

I've taken my second tablet on my first cycle and wondering if anyone is due to start there's soon or are around the same time as me?

I know there's already a clomid thread but I think I'd get pretty lost as I'm new to this so was hoping for people to keep each other occupied as we wait in anticipation!

@Etonmess20 shame about the monitoring but at least you had a poaitive OPK so you know that you have ovulated :) Great that you are feeling positive, I'm sending you lots of luck!

Yes I had the scan and the sonographer said everything looked fine, baby measured 6-6.5 weeks (I was 6+3 at the time) and tiny flickering heartbeat seen on the screen but for some reason I completely got myself in a state after as baby is smaller than our baby from MMC at this stage. Have calmed down now and trying to just trust the sonographer as she said she was happy. Just want the 8+3 scan to be here now as that will be the real moment of truth, to see baby has grown correctly and still has a heartbeat, I'm nervous about it already! I genuinly never thought that I would be this anxious, I was so so relaxed last time! Other than that everything is going well, major nausea and started being sick yesterday so may have to ask for some meds as I'm struggling with it way more than last time, finding it difficult to keep my fluid intake up.

Etonmess20 · 03/07/2020 08:01

@ktl1a to be fair I always do get positive OPKs so I wasn't concerned about that necessarily, just would have been nice to know what effect the clomid was having but such is life, I can't complain really as the hospital have been really good.

Ahhh that's brilliant news, I'm glad everything was good. I was thinking about you the other day actually & hoping you were getting on alright. You're bound to be nervous, it must be nervy enough when it's #1 but add to the mix your previous experience & it must be so hard. I know it's easier said than done but I suppose you just have to try & relax & trust that everything will be fine. I'm sure you've got a sticky little bean, I just have a feeling! Like you say, at least once you have your next scan in a couple of weeks you'll see the growth & feel a lot more reassured!
Really feel for you with the sickness btw, nothing worse than being sick. Definitely see the doctor though if you're struggling to get fluid into you, you'll be in hospital on a drip otherwise which I'm sure is the last thing you want.

ktl1a · 03/07/2020 08:08

@Etonmess20 yeah I was the same as you, always got positive OPKs, is a shame to not know the effects but hopefully you will have a lovely positive test in a week or so's time anyway :)

Thanks lovely, yeah I just didn't realiae how the MMC had affected me long term, I was so desperate to get pregnant that I didn't put any thought in to how I would feel. I think if I can make it past the next scan I will be able to relax a bit more and start to enjoy it. Yes I'm going to ask midwife today if i can get some meds as this constant feeling is making it difficult to do the basic of tasks, had to go pick up my click and collect order yest and on the way home had to pull over to be sick, luckily I was able to do so safely! Will see what she says.

Please do keep the thread updated, I love to keep up with all of you ladies :)

Etonmess20 · 03/07/2020 09:52

@ktl1a yeah it would be nice to have it confirmed but maybe next month they can fit me in for monitoring....or hopefully they won't need to! Who knows?! I think it's helped to have the new house to look forward to as well, just takes your mind off it. I also feel like this month, for the first time in a long time we DTD more because we actually wanted to, as opposed to "it's CD X so we have to DTD"

It's bound to, you almost feel like you can't enjoy it because it'll get snatched away again I imagine. It's also an added level of anxiety because it has taken so long in the first place.
Hopefully time flies between now & your next scan & you can start to enjoy being pregnant & preparing for baby to arrive. Fingers crossed they can help you with the sickness, it sounds like it's really tough for you with it at the moment!

Definitely keep in touch, keeping up with you is giving me hope! X

Lauren87E · 03/07/2020 10:33

Hi @ktl1a @Etonmess20
lovely to hear from you and have an update on your journeys. I am now 4DPO (do you class the positive OPK as your day of ovulation or day after?) I have tender breasts, which is unusual at this time of month, but because I'm on new medication it could just be because of that.
We did the SMEP method this month, has anyone else tried that?
Glad you've had your scan @ktl1a that must of been nice just to visually see baby, I think it's totally normal to be anxious until you get to beyond the date of your last pregnancy. Try to do as much self care as you can, meditate and have some nice warm baths.
@Etonmess20 how's the house stuff going? My friends house sold within 8 days of being on the market, it's such a relief that COVID hasn't prevented the house sale. She's going through a very messy separation. I have my fingers crossed for both of us this month, I'm not going to test early, I wasted so much money last month. I want to try and be calm. 🤪

Etonmess20 · 03/07/2020 10:46

Hi @Lauren87E I always use the date of OPK as the benchmark, so mine was Sunday so would be 5dpo today although I do agree you may well not have ovulated on that day necessarily!
Yeah I noticed clomid gave me tender boobs when I didn't used to get them as much.
We did that this month too, hopefully it will work for us both!
Did everything die down with the hyperpvulation in the end?
Yeah it's going well thank you, we rent currently (I relocated from the midlands to SE London as that's where DP lived & is from) so luckily I had already sold my house nearly 2 years ago when I first moved so no chain below us. The people moving from "our" house are moving into a vacant house too so don't think there's any chain that side either 🤞🏻 I have noticed though that the initial flurry of interest seems to have died down a bit locally & some houses have been on the market a while now. Suppose it's difficult to price houses so people are cautious at buying to high at the mo! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lauren87E · 03/07/2020 10:56

@Etonmess20
Oh brilliant, so we are both on this TWW together! We must stay positive! This is the first time we have tried SMEP as I have only recently heard about it. Oh wow, it's all going on for you atm, how did you find the move to SE London? You must have had to start a new life and meet new people. X

Etonmess20 · 03/07/2020 11:49

@Lauren87E we are, I don't find ive had time for it to drag as normal yet to be honest but I'm sure it will start to in the next few days!
Yeah this is probably the first month we've done it properly too, it does feel like we've reconnected a bit as well which is really nice.
It was quite a change for me as I am from rural Leicestershire originally & have always lived in the midlands but I met DP at work (we both work for a national high street brand with multiple office locations) & things went from there. It got to the point where someone was going to have to move but there was a lot more opportunities in my industry (finance) in London than he would have had in the midlands. He also doesn't drive which would have made things more difficult for him too. In the end I was able to secure a promotion within the same company that was based in London. We lived with DPs mum for a couple of months until we found a flat together then we've just been saving to buy our own house since then! It's been fine really, I've managed to make friends & don't miss home either, this is my home now!

Lauren87E · 03/07/2020 12:24

@Etonmess20
Wow! That's so lovely that you have settled, I'm so glad you've met new friends and feel so happy where you are. I relocated away from family 15 years ago, and it's the best decision I ever made. I live in a rural village and have a decent job within the NHS and made new friends. I could never move back. You've done really well to save and rent at the same time, I imagine that was challenging. You've both worked very hard to get where you are, you must be very proud. A baby will certainly be a blessing to you both and I have everything crossed for you. I started drinking pomegranate juice and raspberry leaf tea (not the best flavour) and the GP has prescribed iron tablets. Are you taking anything? I take some vegan omega supplements and B complex tablets too 🥰

Etonmess20 · 03/07/2020 12:41

@Lauren87E I definitely think it's been a good thing for me & relocating clearly as for you too as you're so settled now.
Ah that's so kind, thank you.
What are the positives of the pom juice & raspberry leaf tea? I have heard people have them but not sure on the science.
I just take folic acid, I did take the TTC supplements for a long time but got a bit frustrated with it after we didn't get a BFP after so long. I do sporadically take them now but only when I remember to buy them.
Are you vegan? I'm vegetarian but always had very good iron levels x

Lauren87E · 03/07/2020 12:49

@Etonmess20

Yes I'm vegan and have been for two years. My eating has probably deteriorated since being in lockdown and wfh. I was feeling really really tired so had some bloods done and my iron levels were low. They have helped already, but really upset my tummy as I suffer with Constipation.
The raspberry and pomegranate are supposed to thicken your lining for implantation and I have to admit my last period was the heaviest I've had in years. My periods usually last a few days where as last month is was more like 5.
I wanted to take some co-enzyme supplements too but they are £25 a bottle!!! And I thought it might not be worth it, but if I get a negative this month after so much bloody effort I will defo give them a try! I'm desperate to improve my fitness but lacking the motivation and the lethargy hasn't helped. Being out of routine and working from home has really effected my mood.
But an hour dog walk a day is better than nothing, so I won't get myself too worked up! I have my progesterone blood test on Monday to see if this medication has worked and that my body is doing what it's supposed to. Fingers crossed. I know I defo ovulated, that was the most painful ovulation pain I've had in all the time TTC. x

Etonmess20 · 03/07/2020 13:04

@Lauren87E it has been difficult being out of routine hasn't it? We've both wfh all the way through & it's such a slog! We had let ourselves go a little bit before lockdown started, too many treats etc so we've been watching what we eat & exercising more & my weight & energy levels have really seen the effects. I do get it's difficult to be motivated though, I've found in the past that when I've been struggling mentally with issues surrounding TTC it's made things far more difficult.
Ah that's interesting, it's so hard to know whether certain things will be of benefit, you really could spend a fortune couldn't you? Especially when you're not even entirely sure they'll help you specifically. I kind of begrudge it because I've taken supplements in the past & clearly they haven't worked & you also see all these other people who get their BFP without any effort!
You definitely shouldn't beat yourself up about not doing too much, an hour walk is definitely good exercise each day - I suppose to push it that bit further just walk a bit quicker perhaps!

I've got my fingers crossed for your blood test, hopefully you won't need to wait too long for your results either. But definitely promising you feel like you fed ovulated! X

Lauren87E · 03/07/2020 14:13

@Etonmess20
Good for you for doing so well, I'm envious of your determination!
Before lockdown I was doing three classes a week at our leisure centre and I loved it so much. I'm thinking of signing up to my cousins online classes because I need something that I can be dedicated too, discipline!
Yeah I am so with you about the supplements. I have to take B vitamins anyway because I'm vegan so I don't mind that, and the omega has improved my skin and hair so much that I'm gunna stick with them. I used to take the vegan well woman's supplements and Jesus Christ it was like swallowing a bullet! 😂😂😂

Etonmess20 · 03/07/2020 14:19

@Lauren87E you've got the motivation too if you've done it before, you just need to get back into it again. Online classes would definitely help. DP & I go to our local park first thing in the morning & do a HIIT workout we designed then we do some battle ropes. Before lockdown I did bugger all though so don't feel bad about yourself 😂
It's definitely helped me have something else to focus on other than struggling TTC & being healthier can surely only help
Hahaha I am not too bad swallowing tablets but some of them are horrendous. We use to take a fish oil one (I go through stages of eating fish) but OMG it was so fishy for hours afterwards it was disgusting 😂😂

Lauren87E · 06/07/2020 23:02

@Etonmess20 hey!!! How was your weekend? I'm 7dpo and suffering with the worst constipation on these iron tablets, but on the plus side my energy levels are increasing so I'm keen to follow your advice and get active!!! With a little additional fibre lol! I don't feel any different than usual, had some on off cramping the last few days and boobs still hurt! How are you doing? X

Etonmess20 · 07/07/2020 09:14

Hi @Lauren87E yeah my weekend was lovely thank you, was yours?
Oh no really, there's nothing worse is there? I'm 9dpo & been feeling quite bloated & gassy yesterday & today, feel like the girl off willy wonka who floats away 😂😂😂
Ah really glad to hear you're feeling like you've got more energy, definitely take advantage, even if it's just walking the dogs a little bit longer/further - every little helps!! I feel like I have zero energy today but still went & did my workout this morning 🥵 although I do always worry whether that's the right thing to do if I am implanting/just implanted but you can't put your life on hold can you? 🤷🏼‍♀️
I've had a little bit of cramping the past couple of days & my boobs are sore too, trying not to get my hopes up as I've only ever had disappointment lol! I had felt hopeful this cycle as we DTD at all the right times & I had a tiny smidge of blood in EWCM before ovulation which I'd read meant super fertile (although that could be absolute crap lol!) but trying to be realistic the closer I get 😬 just protects you emotionally doesn't it?

TheFuckingDogs · 07/07/2020 11:24

Hello, sorry for bursting in on a post but saw this is fairly active, I’m driving myself mad trawling the internet for answers.
Have been ttc 4 years, have one dc naturally.
I don’t want to start the Ivf route yet, really want to at least give clomid a go first but it just seems impossible 😬 how did you end up being able to try clomid (I’m assuming most of you are UK based) I know it’s much easier in US thanks in advance for any responses 😊

Lauren87E · 07/07/2020 13:35

@Etonmess20

Oh my goodness, poor you! I am also bloated so feel like VOILET too!! 😂 I have my running clothes on and soon as the other half gets back I will go out and try the couch to 5k again! But I know what your saying about implantation, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

@TheFuckingDogs
Welcome to the group. I have also been TTC for the same amount of time and I was referred to a fertility clinic where they carried out an ultrasound and sperm test etc on my partner. I had blood tests done and they put me on a low dose of clomid November 2019 and it didn't work for me so I'm now on letrozole. Are you in the Uk?

Etonmess20 · 07/07/2020 13:53

@Lauren87E good for you, it's something else to mind your mind off the inevitable TTC stress too!
Are you going to hold off testing until when AF is due?

Hi @TheFuckingDogs welcome!! If you're UK based, have your been referred to the hospital yet? If you want it legit then that's the starting point, though I do know others have bought it without prescription online

Lauren87E · 07/07/2020 13:59

@Etonmess20
I don't want to get myself into the state I did last month where I thought I saw a line, bought 4 FRER only to have AF show up late. I will test the day after AF due date and see what happens. I will buy the multipack FRER from Morrison's and that's it!!
I really am trying to distract myself and just relax this month. I'm just hoping my lining is thick enough. We have done all we can this month, so it will just be bad luck if it doesn't happen and to be fair that's helping, nothing worse than looking on flo and feeling like shit that you didn't do enough. Really busy with work today which helps. Fingers crossed for both of us this month, all that baby dancing...Jesus! X

Etonmess20 · 07/07/2020 14:12

@Lauren87E I completely agree, the month before last was the last proper month we were TTC due to HyCoSy last month & I was gutted to see just one line so I'm with you on waiting to test. It's just so hard when the clomid gives you symptoms, you kind of let yourself hope a bit don't you? I have spent months detached from it emotionally because I had a really dark period mentally with it & that was the best way I could deal with it.
It does make you think all these struggles we've both had & how long it's taken so far has to be more than bad luck, how can you have this much bad luck....🤷🏼‍♀️
I am satisfied we've done all we could so we'll see!

Btw Think it depends what day it is as to how optimistic I am 😂 ignore me being a Debbie downer 😂

TheFuckingDogs · 07/07/2020 17:45

Thanks for both replying 😊 I am in the U.K. yes. . . All the hospital stuff was ages ago (like a couple of years) so I now don’t know how how to get funnelled back into that system. I suppose I need to go back to the GP and see what they say. Thank you for the responses and good luck to you both 😊

Etonmess20 · 07/07/2020 18:22

@TheFuckingDogs yeah go back to the GP & ask to be referred, but if you've been TTC for 4 years it should be simple enough for them to refer you.

Fingers crossed you can get it sorted fairly easily 🤞🏻

Lauren87E · 08/07/2020 13:06

@Etonmess20
I have period cramps today, haven't even tested but I think I'm out this month already.
Luckily my Apple Watch has arrived to give me a boost. How are you doing?

Etonmess20 · 08/07/2020 13:11

@Lauren87E I've had a little bit of cramps on & off too, nothing heavy but mild every so often. When is your AF due & do you usually get these sort of cramps in advance?
I'm alright, slightly less bloated/gassy today but did feel a bit sicky/shaky this morning. Probably nothing.
Happy days on the Apple Watch? Have you had one before? I got one a couple of months ago & it's made me so aware of how much I move & stand up etc. Definitely been a motivator for me x
