Hi ,

I've taken my second tablet on my first cycle and wondering if anyone is due to start there's soon or are around the same time as me?

I know there's already a clomid thread but I think I'd get pretty lost as I'm new to this so was hoping for people to keep each other occupied as we wait in anticipation!
Xx

@ktl1a have you had any side effects from your clomid? Hoping for no hot flushes for you with the weather how it is!

sc1995 · 20/05/2020 14:37

Hi. I hope you're all good. im due to start taking clomid this month (1st round). Taken provera to induce a bleed as i dont come on without the pill. Ive been taking metformin for the last 4/5 months. I was wondering if any of yous are on metformin too? x

Etonmess20 · 20/05/2020 15:47

@sc1995 welcome! Sorry I can't help on metformin as I don't take it

ktl1a · 20/05/2020 19:06

@Etonmess20 haha no hot flushes thankfully! Although I love warmth so it maybe wouldn't affect me as much as people that usually feel the heat. I haven't had any side effects yet actually! Hopefully it stays like that! How are you doing? Have you phoned for your HyCoSy appointment?

@sc1995 welcome! Sorry but I don't take it either so haven't got any information for you, hopefully someone else foes but if not you could search on the main forum page for previous posts that mention it? Hopefully AF comes sooner than later so you can get started on the clomid!

Etonmess20 · 20/05/2020 19:14

@ktl1a glad you're not suffering too much & are able to enjoy the weather! I'm good thank you, I sent the hospital an email to let them know I was on CD1. I'd already been booked in as AF is regular so I knew it would be the right time of my cycle for me to have it done. I've then got to email them the Friday before to let them know I don't have corona symptoms! Do you think I'll be alright to drive afterwards? I have to go alone understandably

ktl1a · 20/05/2020 22:47

@Etonmess20 great that you knew when to book it so all full steam ahead for it to happen! Yes completely understandable that you have to go alone, to be honest I don't think they usually allow partners in anyway for the procedure. From memory I probably could have driven but I was advised that someone else drive just as a precaution, if you have someone that can either drop you off/pick you up or wait in the car it would probably be a good idea, nice to have the support too as it is an invasive procedure (even though it doesn't take long and you wren't under sedation)

ktl1a · 21/05/2020 06:09

That's exactly my concern as I'm not having monitoring, just hoping that a normal amount of follicles grow (if there's multiple ones it doesn't mean that they will all get fertilised anyway, especially with my track record). I really hope it works the way it should for you and you don't have too many follies!

Etonmess20 · 21/05/2020 07:14

@ktl1a I think I'm going to have to be brave & drive myself. With all this social distancing I couldn't have family pick me up & DP doesn't drive. I'm sure I'll be fine, worst case scenario I'll sit in the car for a bit

With the monitoring that's exactly how I felt, you kind of don't know whether anything's happening etc. It would be helpful to know, it would probably even be quite encouraging to hear how many there was & how big they were x

ktl1a · 21/05/2020 08:03

@Etonmess20 i'm sure you will be fine, if they advised not to drive they probably would have told you by now.

Exactly, I might look in to a private scan just to check if/what effect it's having, I think I'd feel a bit more comfortable to know

Etonmess20 · 21/05/2020 08:19

@ktl1a that's probably a decent idea to be honest, I don't know whether you could contact your nearest private hospital to see if they can do that kind of imagining or if you'd need to be referred from your GP perhaps. Not entirely sure how it works

ktl1a · 21/05/2020 08:23

@Etonmess20 i've done private scans before, you just go to a private scanning company, there are quite a few around, it'a just a case of finding out which pnes are open at the moment with covid-19 around. Will look in to it today :)

Etonmess20 · 21/05/2020 08:33

@ktl1a ah you're already in the know then! 😂 that's half the battle won when you know where you can go!
Do you essentially just want reassurance there are decent sized follicle(s)? Would you continue if there was quite a few? I know I've read before sometimes when you're being monitored the hospital can stop you if they deem there to be "too many"

Hoping1 · 21/05/2020 08:50

@ktl1a have you has clomid before . I am not getting monitored just hoping for the best as I had them before least I know what dosage to use. Fingers crossed it works for us all xxx

ktl1a · 21/05/2020 08:59

@etonmess20 I think it would be handy to know the size/quantity of follies to see if the clomid has actually done anything and the thickness of the endometrium (as clomid can thin it). By the time I had the scan I would already have been trying so I wouldn't be able to stop regardless, would just like to know what effect it has before i continue taking more in subsequent cycles (although i'm obviously hoping i won't need to). So it's more for curiosity than anything, a scan is about £60-70 so do-able.

@Hoping1 definitly good that you know what dosage to use, etc... Fingers crossed!

Etonmess20 · 21/05/2020 09:53

@ktl1a even if you only did it on one cycle it would still be nice to know

@Hoping1 I am taking mine through my consultant & not getting monitored either, think it's quite common. Did you buy yours privately?

Hoping1 · 21/05/2020 10:02

@Etonmess20 I was given it before we went down IVF route . IVF havnt applied yet to reopen so out of upsetness got the tablets out and started them again only 50 and only take for 3 days as was over sensitive to them but they never went into great detail about it just big follies xxxxx

PukkaTeaAddict · 24/05/2020 11:14

Hi guys! Sorry I've been a bit quiet again, I've been trying not to obsess too much (it's not really working 😂). How are you all doing?

I'm 7dpo today and my nipples feel like they are on fire! My boobs are so swollen and my areolas have gone really dark. I'm trying really hard to focus on the fact that it is probably the clomid, but it's really hard to ignore the little voice that says I may be pregnant!

ktl1a · 24/05/2020 13:32

Hi @PukkaTeaAddict !
I don't blame you for trying to stay relaxed, so hard isn't it!
Sounds promising! I will probably be exactly the same if I get those signs (I've told myself not to but I know it's different when your in the moment!) Really hope they mean something for you, when are you planning to test (or are you waiting to see if AF arrives)?
I'm due to ovulate weds/thurs if it happens at the normal time, I can usually cope with this part of the cycle but don't deal well with the tww! I haven't had any symptoms from the clomid yet, feel completely normal; am trying to arrange a follicle tracking scan to find out how many eggs are there but struggling due to covid-19!

PukkaTeaAddict · 24/05/2020 13:49

@ktl1a I've promised myself that I'm only going to test on the day that AF is due as I have spent wayyy too much on FRERs already and I have some cheap tests that I don't mind using up!

I know what you mean, the TWW is hard. Especially when the clomid is giving you all sorts of symptoms!

The scan sounds exciting! Are you trying to go private with it? Are places not open?

ktl1a · 24/05/2020 14:30

@PukkaTeaAddict that's exactly what I do, test on the day AF is due or the day after, I just hate seeing a negative so stop myself. My hubby is good at stopping me too, he makes me wait a few days after AF if possible but that is unlikely!

Yes I can imagine it must be so hard with the symptoms, I find it hard enough even when there are no symptoms (I even sometimes convince myself rhat not having symptoms could be a symptom! Madness!) I am intrigued to find out how I will feel after ovulation, bring it on! Just planning my next few days out really, we only DTD every other day to try to save up the sperm but when I suspect I've ovulated I do the next couple of days in a row to play it safe.

Yeah a lot of the private places aren't open and the ones that are can't do it as it's half term so the kids are off school (even though they are keyworker's children). Would really like to know the thickness of my lining and how many follicles there are.

ktl1a · 27/05/2020 17:33

@PukkaTeaAddict @Etonmess20 How are you getting on ladies? Any more symptoms @pukkateaaddict?
I just had an U/S and it showed a nice thick lining (10mm) and I'm really happy about that as my previous scans last year showed a thin lining. It also showed a 28mm follicle (+ a 12mm follicle) on one ovary and a 16mm follicle (+ a 13mm follicle) on the other so she thinks I will ovulate in the next 24 hours (which would be normal for me) however I haven't had a positive ovulation test yet so waiting for that. The 28mm seems a bit big to me but the sonographer seemed fine with it, am hoping the 16mm might grow a bit more in the hope the egg in that follicle will go too but not sure if that will happen, the sonographer felt doubtful. So all in all it was good scan but a bit suprising too! Just hope the bigger follicle goes before the egg is overripe!

Etonmess20 · 27/05/2020 18:26

@ktl1a your scan sounds like it went really well, what CD are you now? Got my fingers crossed this is all leading to a nice sticky BFP for you!! 🤞🏻

I'm not too bad thanks, I'm CD9 today, got my HyCoSy on Monday. I've been a bit down the past few days in all honesty, probably lockdown, TTC etc ☹️

ktl1a · 27/05/2020 18:56

@Etonmess20 sorry to hear that you have been feeling down, try to think of the positives, you will have some more answers on Monday and then a few glasses of wine in preparation for your next cycle in a couple of weeks time. We all go through big up's and down's, it's 100% expected with such an unpredictable situation like ttc! Mine will be in a week or so (I always have a major dip about a week after ovulation so not looking forward to that!)

I am on CD13 today, yes definitely promising news from the scan, fingers crossed! Hope the next couple of weeks go fast (for both of us!)

Etonmess20 · 27/05/2020 19:14

@ktl1a yeah I think it's just a down few days! I think it's the fact it's a bit of a wasted month too. Fingers crossed I'll be feeling a bit better tomorrow!

I hope so too!! How have you been other than that?

ktl1a · 27/05/2020 19:19

Completely understandable, I would be the same if I had to wait a cycle but it will be worth it to get the HyCoSy done. It's sucha rollercoaster isn't it!
Yes fine thanks, obsessive as usual and just want a positive ovulation test so i can get the dreaded tww over and done with but other than that everything is ok here, trying to keep busy at home but that can be hard as time goes on. Plus possible job insecurities is a concern with ttc but just carrying on through really. Coronavirus has taken it's toll on everyone in so many ways!
