Clomid cycle1

Hi ,

I've taken my second tablet on my first cycle and wondering if anyone is due to start there's soon or are around the same time as me?

I know there's already a clomid thread but I think I'd get pretty lost as I'm new to this so was hoping for people to keep each other occupied as we wait in anticipation!

Afternoon! Sorry for the radio silence, I tried to have a bit of a break from thinking about fertility on my birthday!

@Etonmess20 I'm so sorry to hear about your BFN. Don't feel bad for testing, as you said before, you would have to test even when AF comes because of the HyCoSy. It must be hard with all of the symptoms though. My boobs are super sore already and I only ovulated on Sunday.

@ktl1a it was preseed I have used this month, who knows whether it will make a difference or not but the reviews seemed good so I thought it was worth a try!

How are you both feeling today?

Etonmess20 · 19/05/2020 13:16

Hi @PukkaTeaAddict hope you had a happy birthday!!
I agree with having a little break every so often, it's not always healthy to spend too much time on social media. Makes me a bit mental at times because you see worst case scenarios quite a lot 😂

I woke up with a small amount of AF, pinker & more gooey than normal (sorry TMI!) but I have emailed the hospital to let them know it's CD1 as they need to know for my HyCoSy. Possibly just the clomid side effects.

Trying my hardest to be positive today!!! X

Etonmess20 · 19/05/2020 13:16

@PukkaTeaAddict how's things with you today? X

PukkaTeaAddict · 19/05/2020 13:39

Hi @Etonmess20 I know what you mean! I actually deleted Facebook a few weeks ago as people seem to be posting more pictures/videos of all their children since the lockdown started, and it was just making me more unhappy.

There is no such thing as TMI here! What day do you need to have the HyCoSy? Hopefully something positive will come from it!

I'm ok, I'm fluctuating between feeling really positive and feeling how I usually do about it all. I've got a feeling deep down that this month isn't my month though. I think as I've never had even the slightest BFP, it just seems like such an alien idea that it will ever happen! I think even if it does happen, I either won't believe it or just have a feeling that it will go wrong in some way. I sound mad, don't I!

Etonmess20 · 19/05/2020 13:47

@PukkaTeaAddict I feel the same, children older than babies don't affect me but small babies & pregnant women are quite difficult for me

I'm hoping so too, it's scheduled for 1st June which will be CD14 for me. I think they say between CD8 & CD18. No clomid this month & no DTD unprotected beforehand apparently so this months a bit of a waste tbh

You don't sound mad at all, I've never had a BFP either. I genuinely do feel like it won't ever happen if I'm honest. It seems to be that people who get as far into TTC as we have tend to have had a chemical or something, which obviously is horrible, but I don't know whether it almost makes me feel worse I've never even had that. Just nothing.
Completely get how you feel as I feel the exact same x

ktl1a · 19/05/2020 14:13

Hi Ladies! @PukkaTeaAddict I've ordered pre-seed this month too, figured it was worth a try. I also deleted facebook a couple of months ago for the exact same reasons of you! I just couldn't deal with seeing people's happy news when i'm so miserable! Sounds like your having similar symptoms to the ones @Etonmess20 had so I will definitly have to keep that in mind when it comes to the tww! I have taken 3 tablets so far so have 2 more to go, am really hopeful that the clomid will help but who knows!

Also you were both saying about never having had a BFP and I was the same as you up till the end of last year, I used to think "I don't even know if I can get pregnant" so I know exactly how you feel, but to be honest now that I have lost a baby and am trying again it feels just as bad if not worse as I have the loss to deal with (constantly watching the days pass thinking "I would have been this many weeks"), the awkwardness/pity from family and friends (who didn't know we were trying before this happened) and the worry that we won't be able to conceive again; the worry just never stops on the ttc journey :( Obviously it's all retrospective as if I hadn't achieved the pregnancy I would be further down the line with the consultant by now but what I'm trying to say is that I thought it would never happen and it did (eventually and when I had given up hope) so it can still happen for you too; and when it does just try to enjoy it, there's no point worrying something could go wrong as it wouldn't change the way you felt about it anyway, the likelihood is that everything would work out fine for you so just enjoy every second. Just take care of yourselves, cry if you need to, take time to yourself if you need to, I am sending you both lots of good wishes!

Etonmess20 · 19/05/2020 14:31

Hi @ktl1a I used pressed once as well, although I haven't found that I've needed it on this cycle of clomid although I don't know it the dryness worsens with each cycle you use it

I can only imagine it is even harder trying again after a loss & I really do hope you didn't think we were trying to say you were in somehow a better position than we are.
It's just a horrible limbo position for us all & it's helpful you have the perspective of having been in our position as you're able to give a different view. As you know, it almost seems the only hurdle getting the BFP but in reality it's just the first hurdle. Sending lots of love as I can only imagine how difficult your situation is.

On a lighter note, whereabouts are you both based? Our care seems to be reasonably similar so wondered if we all lived in a similar area as you do tend to hear of wildly different treatment plans in different areas x

ktl1a · 19/05/2020 14:43

@Etonmess20 Oh I honestly I didn't take any offence and didn't mean anything by what I said, I was just trying to explain that I felt exactly the same as you previously but then when I got pregnant it didn't make me feel any better at all when I started trying again (if that makes sense). No matter what way you look at it we've all been dealt a shit hand but we will get there, one way or another. It's just nice to be able to talk it through with like minded people.

I'm in the South of England, to be honest once I jumped through the hoops to get my initial referral the infertility team were fab (except making me wait now but I think they would do that no matter what, especially with covid-19 around!) I paid for my HSG privately to speed things up and glad I did as it meant I got the lap/hysteroscopy done quickly in the grand scheme of things. It will be great to know the results of your HyCoSy, one less part of the jigsaw puzzle for you!

Etonmess20 · 19/05/2020 14:50

@ktl1a it definitely is nice to talk through it with people who get it. DP is super optimistic about it all which is grating at times tbh 😂
I'm hoping we all get our sticky BFPs very soon 🤞🏻

That's interesting actually, I hadn't realised you paid for you HSG privately, at least you were able to switch back with those results to go back to NHS. I definitely think it will help to have some more answers, although if it comes back that they're clear it doesn't make it any easier to deal with that we are still unable to TTC. I suppose at least I'll feel positive that it's either one thing ticked off or allows us to go forward & resolve issues it may throw up.

I'm based in SE London though originally from the midlands x

ktl1a · 19/05/2020 14:57

@etonmess20 it's great that your DP is so optimistic, mine used to be but has gone the other way as time went on, probably doesn't help that he's got me being so negative all the time!

Yeah it was fine to go back to NHS after the provate HSG as it just gave them a bit more info than what they were expecting for my first appt and basically I skipped a step of the process, plus it wasn't too expensive so i figured better to do that bit on my own. Hopefully it will give you some answers one way or another so you are either reassured that the clomid could work it's magic or have a plan of action if there is something they need to look in to further.

Oh your not too far from me then actually, I'm based on the outskirts of Essex.

Etonmess20 · 19/05/2020 15:08

@ktl1a I am generally the more optimistic one but I find this whole TTC journey very draining & now feel like I don't really have much optimism about it (especially the last couple of days!)

Definitely, either way it's progress isn't it? How many cycles do you have clomid for currently?

Ah you are fairly close to me then, it is bad really how some trusts seem to offer additional treatments/monitoring where others don't. You hear about these postcode lotteries but never think too much of it until you hear of people who get full monitoring on clomid (though I do wonder what role covid plays in all of this)

ktl1a · 19/05/2020 15:18

@Etonmess20 I was optimistic to begin with but that changed with every month that passed, particularly as everyone else I know found it so easy to conceive!

Yes definitly progress, it's all a step in the right direction. I bought 3 months of clomid, if nothing happens after that I will be due to have my follow up consultation with my NHS consultant (although i'm dreading telling her I took matters in to my own hands by ordering the clomid!)

Yeah the postcode lottery is crazy! If it wasn't for covid I would pay for a private follicle tracking scan (they're only about £50 frpm memory) to check how many follicles I have but that isn't really an option at the moment unfortunately so just keeping my fingers crossed that it does something

Etonmess20 · 19/05/2020 15:49

@ktl1a I think it does when you realise it isn't as easy as everyone else finds it

Hopefully they'll get that you wanted to try something & wont tell you off too much!

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? I always assumed that would be something to be concerned about if you were older but I suppose it would be a good indication at any age

Etonmess20 · 19/05/2020 15:50

@ktl1a actually I've just googled & it wasn't what I thought it was, I thought it was your reserves 🤦🏼‍♀️ so many terms to learn 😂

ktl1a · 19/05/2020 16:00

Haha yes the follicles hold the egg and develop each month, clomid can result in multiple follicles developing as it stops your body think you haven't produced estrogen so you need to produce more FSH, which in turn makes your ovaries work harder. I haven't had an AMH hormone test done, I think the IVF clinics are the ones that request that usually. I am 31 so hoping I still have decent reserve of eggs yet but am a bit concerned of the quality of them! Seeing as everything else has come back ok I wonder if that is my issue!
I had follicle tracking last year and it was really interesting to see them grow and to know that you are definitly ovulating, you can also see the thickness of the endometrium on the scans (mine was a bit thin so I take supplements, etc to try to boost it now) They may be able to check yours when you have your HyCoSy seeing as it is being down with an ultrasound machine

Etonmess20 · 19/05/2020 17:33

@ktl1a I'll definitely ask when I go for my HyCoSy to see whether that's something he can look at, it will be what would usually be peak ovulation day too so hopefully that helps
I did have an AMH test done privately actually I think although I can't find the results (I was told they were good) as (long story short) I saw an endocrinologist who was a fertility specialist so he was very interested in that type of thing.

It's going to be so weird wearing a mask while I have the scan done 😬

ktl1a · 19/05/2020 17:38

Oh that's interesting, nice to know that your levels are good :)
Yeah it is going to be really strange but worth it! Especially if they can see the follicle aswell

Hoping1 · 19/05/2020 18:48

@ktl1a I have sort of done what you have done . We were just about to do ivf when it all kicked off so were stop . Rang clinic the other day and they havnt even applied to open also said frozen would go first. So I had clomid left from another clinic so started it again just need to do something. Been trying for 3 years how long you been trying xxx

ktl1a · 20/05/2020 06:44

Hi @Hoping1 so sorry to hear that your ivf was disrupted! Hopefully the clinic get themselves sorted soon sp you can move forward, it must be devastating for you to have to wait!
Was the clomid prescribed to you because of PCOS or for unexplained infertility as a last ditch attempt before IVF? I completely understand just needing to do something, people just don't understand the difficulty of feeling so helpless and not in control, I have to be pro-active to cope. We have been trying for 2 years so really feel for you being at 3 years!

Hoping1 · 20/05/2020 07:32

@ktl1a it doesnt matter how many years it is all heartbreaking fir any of us. I dont ovulate on my own sometimes so I was given clomid I took the low dosage for 5 day. I was to sensitive so I was lowed to 3 still to sensitive so they stopped me that when I was referred to IVF. I have notice i am not ovulating again as have no cm so I am given clomid ago again xxx

ktl1a · 20/05/2020 07:52

@Hoping1 interesting that you were sensitive to clomid, what effect did it have on you that made them cut down the dosage and then stop it? How long were you waiting for your IVF once you had been referred (I mean before all this kicked off)? Hopefully taking a few doses this time will get you ovulating again and at least give you a chance!

Hoping1 · 20/05/2020 08:22

Hope start again now back on them. I got no effects just picked up on scans. We tried naturally for a year then a year at ACU then been a year to get to this point lv I am 30 how old are you xxxx

ktl1a · 20/05/2020 08:45

Oh ok, can you remember what they picked up on scans? Maybe you produced too many follicles? Hope they work for you this time. It's all such a long wait isn't it! I'm 31 so similar to you.

Hoping1 · 20/05/2020 11:17

They picked up big follicles so said not to go ahead xxxx

ktl1a · 20/05/2020 12:05

Oh interesting! Fingers crossed it works better for you this time!
