Ivf March/April?

Hello,
Is anyone starting Ivf in March/April?
It would be nice to have some buddies.

I'm going for pre bloods and scans mid March, and expect to have egg retrieval around.

It's my first round, have been ttc for over a year and a half - unexplained infertility 🤷🏼‍♀️

Good @Vslightlystressy. Fingers crossed - and you've got your hubby on hand to step in, if need be.

Lemongrass1 · 10/03/2020 20:07

@Vslightlystressy I think I’d balk too if first injection came with a big needle! Try not to be hard on yourself about it, it’s great that as a backup your clinic will do them for you. The smaller needles are honestly not as bad. Mine is yellow and it’s so fine you can barely feel it go in (although it’s so fine that I’ve accidentally bent a few needles 😳). Good luck x

Mrsmch123 · 10/03/2020 20:42

Hi everyone, hope everyone is well!just been catching up. @UncleBrynsfishingtrip I had a mock transfer today. I swear they nearly had the bed upside down trying to find my cervix....was all a bit comical!i would say it was a little more uncomfortable than a smear but by no means intolerable. Apparently they are going to do a drawing for when it's actually time for the transfer🙈 I have my prostap injection next week so I'm almost ready to start properly!well done to all the people that have been self administering their meds!

West2401 · 10/03/2020 21:50

Quick question - does anyone else have PCOS? I've been getting tests for 18 months, moved to a new hospital and the consultant diagnosed on Friday via internal scan which showed cysts all over my ovaries (despite the other hospital performing the same scan AND laparoscopy and being adamant I didn't have it Confused ). Literally spent the last year and a half blaming myself for lack of cycle and infertility, half relieved half devastated.
I was just wondering if anyone had ever been through rounds before and if you can offer any PCOS advice? Is there anything I can do that will help chances?
Thanks!

bunhead34 · 10/03/2020 21:53

Hi all, been away for a bit but trying to catch up!
My medicine arrived today - so many needles 😐😐😐 quite exciting but also very real.
I've got my scan and nurses appointment tomorrow.

@Lemongrass1 ive had the sick bug too, it's awful! Hoping I magically feel 100% better tomorrow 😷

That's a good shout to stock up on liners and pads actually, I hadn't even thought of it!

Hello ladies.

How are you getting on @Lemongrass1 @NRW39 ?

Sorry to hear about your sick bug. Hope you feel better soon.

I’m feeling slightly jaded today. I keep getting intermittent sharp pains on my left side, very low down. It’s worrying me wondering if it’s a cyst or my endometriosis coming back ( after 3 months I hope not) or if it’s side effects from the Buserelin or Northerisone. Has anyone every experienced this before? I’ve got increased discharge which seems odd at this stage.
Unsure whether to contact the clinic or just my G.P to ask for advice.

@bunhead34 Hope your appointment goes well today.

@West2401 No I haven’t got PCOS. When I had an ultrasound previously they said I was borderline but my bloods apparently said something different. I’m sorry to hear you’ve only just been diagnosed after all that time spent previously being seen under another trust. Please Don’t blame yourself. I know plenty of people that conceived via IVF with PCOS. There is hope. Xx

Blacksheep33 · 11/03/2020 08:03

Hi @Lizzybee80, I’m afraid I’ve never had to down reg before (been on short antagonist protocol both cycles), but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if it’s a side effect - these IVF drugs seem to have all sorts of weird and wonderful ones! I would say that ringing your clinic just to ask a nurse will do no harm and might put your mind at rest? When’s your next scan? I personally wouldn’t ask a GP because in my experience they have known very very little about the IVF process!

@west2401 - I haven’t got PCOS either (the opposite problem - low egg reserve!) but there’s a lovely lady who does called Amber who writes a blog called the preggerskitchen. It’s full of loads of useful tips on diet and what supplements to take with PCOS so I would think well worth a read! It’s good you have a diagnosis now and as far as I know, the prognosis for IVF is very good with PCOS - lots of eggs to work with! Good luck!

NRW39 · 11/03/2020 14:35

Hi @Lizzybee80. I'm a misery guts at the moment. EVERYTHING is winding me up (I'm having a cup of chamomile & honey tea...) I'm just fed up with it all. Pushing the needle in this morning wasn't very nice. It felt like it was going through about 1000 layers before it finally fully went it. I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but that's the vibe today.

Hope you and everyone else is doing good today. It seriously is a day by day thing. I'll deal with tomorrow, tomorrow...!

As always lots of respect and admiration for anyone going through this journey, whatever the stage x

LBJ2410 · 11/03/2020 19:37

Hi everyone! I've tried to catch up with everyone's messages quickly.. hope people are getting on okay (or as well as possible!). I had to get my husband to do my injections so I understand the fear people have!!
I feel like I'm constantly on edge at the moment - might try that mindful app that has been mentioned! Not sure if it's the hormones or the pressure of it all.
I've had a scan today and my lining was just about thick enough to go ahead with the FET next Tuesday.. I should feel happy it's nearly over but I'm just terrified! Any tips for transfer day welcome 🙈

Nmvasey · 11/03/2020 20:43

Evening, hope you’re all hanging on in there!

Quick question I’ve had an Accupuncture appointment tonight and she’s sent me some guidance around vitamins... it’s says you can take up to 800mg of coQ10 whereas I’ve only been taking 200mg. For anyone taking this what disease have you been taking please? I am taking a pregnacare multi vit on top

ValidUser · 11/03/2020 20:49

@Nmvasey I'm taking 600mg - seems to be recommended by loads of clinics in Canada.

I'm in Ireland, but am lucky enough to be a non-gynae doctor who has gynae friends far and wide.

Nmvasey · 11/03/2020 20:52

@ValidUser ah great thank you! Looks like I best up my game and get swallowing those bullets : )

ValidUser · 11/03/2020 21:18

@Nmvasey you can get higher doses on Amazon UK to avoid taking millions of them - just worth checking the source before you buy any!

41trying · 11/03/2020 21:46

Evening all,

@Nmvasey
@ValidUser
I picked mine up from Holland and Barrett, 200mg and I take 2 a day. Other vitamins folic acid and vit d, all advised by clinic
I am also having aqupunture and she said similar.
So scan day again tomorrow hoping my cyst has gone and lining all good ready for stims. Been DR forever it seems.

Wesstywoo · 11/03/2020 21:50

@Nmvasey I've been taking 200mg ubiquinol for the last 7 months - have looked online for an answer on how much to take compared with coq10 and can't find a straight answer. Also take proceive max which has some in it too.

AF arrived and first scan is on Monday - hopefully everything will be ok so I can start stims 🤞

41trying · 12/03/2020 11:51

Morning all, well my scan went well and cyst gone to. Start stims this evening with provisional EC w/c 23rd, ar last that's all I can say right now.
Hope everyone else is doing ok

Lianne32 · 12/03/2020 12:37

Hi girls so background I’m 31, pco,
Amh of 40, doing this as single mum by choice - ivf starting March cycle when period decides to show!

I’m after some advice really, I work a physical job I have limited time off so is it going to be detrimental after embryo transfer to return to this job properly I’ve been doing it for 3 years, I work in a spa. I can Obviously get egg collection off.

What supplements are good! I’m taking zita west vitafem currently - also avid gym goer so eat relatively healthy anyway, I’ve been advised to stop weight training during stims because of my ovaries. How much protein is sensible ? Also what about protein shakes.

Sometimes I work evenings can I transport my ivf meds with me out the fridge at home for a hour during transport until I can place them back in a fridge at work?

I’ve come down with a cold which I think has delayed my period - so do you think it’s ok to start stims whilst having a cold I don’t have a fever

Also have suspected raynauds my
Fingers turn white when cold doesn’t happen all time I’ve ignored it never thought
To get tested is this going
To be bad for pregnancy?

Hope everyone is ok on their journeys looking forward to discussing!

Nmvasey · 12/03/2020 19:58

Thanks all for the advice on the coQ10 I’ll be increasing my dose from today. Hope you’ve had a good day

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 12/03/2020 23:55

Hi all

Can I join please (first time ever)
I’m 40 and in the process of down reg (nasal spray). Egg collection due w/c 6th April 2020
First cycle.

Is anyone else using the spray instead of down reg injections? Any side effects ?

Has anyone been advised whether Coronavirus will delay/cease treatment?

It’s so lovely that we can all support one another!

41trying · 13/03/2020 12:25

Afternoon all,
First injection for stims all went to plan in hiccups.
@Lianne32 welcome.i would suggest you book day off after EC if in physical job. Everyone is different the next day but you may ache a little.as far as I am aware a cold wont delay anything. Some injections are kept at room temperature some in fridge, so depends what your on and some out of fridge and he made then transported out of fridge
@Xx40yearsyoungxx welcome sorry I have had injections so dont know about spray.
I think depending if at hospital or private clinic will depend if they delay anything for virus. I'm private and they had to take my temp in reception yesterday before entering but they did say they would carry in and disinfect theater if found you were infected if due for EC or ET

Wesstywoo · 14/03/2020 09:16

Hi @Lianne32 welcome - they usually advise to take it fairly easy after transfer ie no heavy lifting or mad exercise but apart from that you can carry on as normal. My clinic had advised a high protein diet. Also they said the only supplements that are evidence based are folic acid and vit D but I'm taking proceive max which contains both and ubiquinol.

How is everyone doing that are on stims already? Just waiting for mine to be delivered today ready to go on Monday

maggiemoi · 14/03/2020 13:56

Hello all, quick question - I started injections three days ago - meriofert 450 - first cycle. I dont feel ill, I just feel weird like there is something strange going on down thereConfused is this normal?

ValidUser · 15/03/2020 12:14

Gah, I think I've been delayed because of the virus! (I'm in Ireland.)

Lizzybee80 · 15/03/2020 12:22

Hello ladies!

Hope you are all well and getting on ok.

@Xx40yearsyoungxx
Haven’t been delayed yet because of Coronavirus but I am very concerned about it. I work in the hospital so am exposed to quite a lot of high risk patients. I’m afraid of contracting it and it delaying my treatment. 😬

I haven’t heard anything from our clinic yet I’m hoping it’ll be ok and we can still proceed. Got my first down reg scan this week. I haven’t bled yet. Did anyone else have a delayed bleed after Northerisone?

Xx

Xx40yearsyoungxx · 15/03/2020 12:45

I’m 11 days into down reg and not had a withdrawal bleed yet. I read somewhere that it was quite normal and that a lot of people go to their first scan during the withdrawal bleed ?

My first scan is 25th March. Just contacted clinic and they say until they hear otherwise treatment continuing, however did say they are asking people to go to the scan alone.

I’m still concerned that we will be injecting for nothing.

Fingers crossed

When’s your scan @Lizzybee80
