First thread is filling up fast so I thought I'd get a new one ready so we can keep on supporting each other through this crazy journey! Will post a link in old thread 😊xx

@lily999, I know what you mean. No I'm back at work tomorrow. With my job I dont have any lifting or anything, so thought it would make the time go faster. Up until today only my line manager knew, but she has to let her manager know just incase I do need anytime.
Also only my sister knows we are going through this, so I will still keep quite

BaileyBadger4 · 15/01/2020 12:26

Just posted this on old thread thinking it was this one 🙄 lol xx

Just back from day 8 scan and feeling a bit deflated guys. Was told my lining is thinner than they expect it to be at this stage and I had a fair amount of follicles but they are also smaller than is to be expected.

Lining was 2.6mm (day 8) 🙁 with 12 follicles on the right all around 6mm and 5 follicles on the left measuring around 3mm.

Nurse seemed to think all was ok just slow growing, so no dosage increase just keep doing what I'm doing meds wise.

They've cancelled our scan on Fri and we have our next progress scan on Monday now instead.

OH says it's nothing for me to be upset about but I kinda had my hopes set for EC on Monday (stupidly) and am now worried about why they seem so small and lining so thin 🙁 Just read back through some of your posts in previous thread which said they can catch up and lining can thicken though 🤞 so that made me feel a bit better 🤞

Nmvasey · 15/01/2020 12:30

Well girls I’m all done. Looks like they got 6 eggs, knew it wasn’t going to be a massively high number. It won’t be enough to do the split ICSI/IVF we’d hoped but all is still good. Now to see what happens next. Toast has arrived so I’m off to munch that x

UnicornPuff · 15/01/2020 12:37

Home from EC. Much nicer than I expected. I had sedation rather tha GA and I dont remember anything and felt like a lovely sleep with slight abdominal discomfort but nothing paracetamol cant fix. They managed to get 9 eggs. Will see what happens over night.

@41trying that's so far away! My clinic test 2 weeks from EC rather than ET. Do you have stuff planned to take you mind off the wait?

Nmvasey · 15/01/2020 12:38

@BaileyBadger4 I was in the same position, at day 6 scan I had a few a 9/10mm others were all smaller. Within 5 days they were good to get out and EC booked for today. They say people have growth spurts at different times but they did up my dosage. Some of mine doubled in size over 5 days . I’m sure they’ll get there but full appreciating how you feel as was in the same deflated boat last week x

FlapJackered · 15/01/2020 12:40

@BaileyBadger4 I was in a similar situation to you, mine were slow growing but they have come up so try not to worry. My EC was also delayed by 2 days. It is frustrating when the goal posts are moved though isn't it. x

@Nmvasey 6 is great though! Fingers crossed for fertilisation.

Lily999 · 15/01/2020 12:40

@Nmvasey 6 is a great number of eggs to start with, did they say anything about their maturity at all?
It is a total nightmare @BaileyBadger4, I am worried AF is not heavy enough meaning my lining will be too thick on Friday, whilst you are worried your lining is too thin, can we ver catch a break here? Yes, it can thicken within a few days, give it some time (I know that's all we hear nowadays..)

41trying · 15/01/2020 12:44

@UnicornPuff. I just have worked planned in really and just see how it goes.

Lily999 · 15/01/2020 12:52

@UnicornPuff congrats on 9, let's hope for great fertilisation numbers coming back tomorrow! Are you doing ICSI?
forgot to ask @Nmvasey if it's not a split cycle does it mean IVF or all ICSI? Hope toast was good :)

Nmvasey · 15/01/2020 13:05

@lily999 yeah looks like it'll be ICSI for us. They’ve just sent him to try for a second sample now, not sure if that will be possible but we’ll see. I think they prefer to do by the more natural route of IVF... saying that none of this process is natural!

UnicornPuff · 15/01/2020 13:13

@Lily999 yes ICSI for us. We have MFI azoospermia so the only option for us.

Lily999 · 15/01/2020 13:41

Thank you @unicornPuff and @Nmvasey. @Nmvasey sounds like you would have preferred IVF, if that's the case can I ask why? Sorry for all the questions.

Nmvasey · 15/01/2020 13:53

@Lily999 with ICSI there is a risk that they can rupture the egg. Also I believe they use all of the sperm for IVF and it’s a case of may the best man win. With ICSI they need to select the best sperm from a sample of a sample and it’s more forced I suppose rather than a compatible egg and sperm match. The success rates though are very similar so it depends on your situation I suppose. Somebody might be more knowledgeable and can explain better than I did just there x

Nmvasey · 15/01/2020 13:55

Two samples done today end embryologist has recommended ICSI as there wasn’t quite enough progressive sperm in today’s sample for IVF

Lily999 · 15/01/2020 14:31

Thank you @Nmvasey for explaining!
@Feline123 have you heard any news regarding fertilisation?

Minster2012 · 15/01/2020 14:42

Wow so much going on!!
@41trying 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻Go embryo go stay busy!!

@UnicornPuff @Nmvasey that’s great news for you both on your eggs brilliant stuff! Well done! Relax up xx

@BambiOnIce80 & @Feline123 everything continuing to be crossed for you ladies!

All going on xxx

@BaileyBadger4 we had a disappointing scan on our previous try & though that’s why I’m now worried about my scans, and it’s horrible waiting & moving goalposts, all ended well and so hang on on there it doesn’t mean bad news xxx

Chooklass · 15/01/2020 14:43

@Nmvasey We may be in a similar situation. OHs samples are variable so they are going to decide ICSI or IVF on the day. I'll warn him he might be asked to do two on the day!

OP posts:
Feline123 · 15/01/2020 14:54

@Lily999 3 out of the 5 eggs collected have fertilised. Crossing my fingers they make it to ET 🤞🏻

Lily999 · 15/01/2020 14:58

@Feline123 great you have 3embies to cheer for, are they day 3 today already? Do you have a day for ET alreay? Were they IVF or ICSI?
We have borderline motility issue (it was 33%) and we will find out which way they will do it, I assume the option of a split cycle doesn't apply for NHS..?

Nmvasey · 15/01/2020 15:02

@lily999 I was going to have a split between ICSI and IVF on NHS but I think you really need 8+ eggs

BambiOnIce80 · 15/01/2020 15:02

@FlapJackered my oestradiol was 9100 on day 10 of stims and they keep an eye on anyone with an oestradiol of >6000 for a higher risk of OHSS, so I knew I was in that category going in 😏 The lady in the bed on my right (not the couple screaming at each other or the one wailing from the pain!) had 22 eggs collected and they told her she'd almost certainly be having a freeze all due to the risk of OHSS. She was quite upset 😔

For acupuncture @Lily999 I'd advise either trousers or a dress that you can easily hoik up to under your boobs!📍 At mine they need access to bare feet, legs, hands and abdomen (but they give you a towel to cover your pelvis area, so you don't have to crack out your best knickers for fear of judgement 👙😉). And my AF was lighter than normal before my first scan but lining was still plenty thin enough, so try not to worry.x

Massive congratulations on being PUPO @41trying! 😍

Please try not to be downhearted @BaileyBadger4 ❤️ Like you say, there's time for them to have a growth spurt and loads of us have had that happen.x

Congratulations on your haul of eggs @Nmvasey @UnicornPuff ! 🤩 I would have absolutely done the same with going for straight ICSI @Nmvasey** in that set of circumstances and, to be fair to the embryologist, they agreed with my logic when we had a big chat about just before going into EC. They said that their preference is always going to be IVF (survival of the fittest and all that), but she could understand where I was coming from with being primary unexplained and this being our only fresh cycle. Plus we've had the same rate of fertilisation from ICSI as IVF so far, so fingers crossed that you get the same from your ICSI 🤞🏻🍀

My DP's samples were variable too @Chooklass so were warned that it might have to be ICSI rather than a split cycle (his first 2 SA's were normal, but that last one had 💩 forward motility and dodgy morphology 😕). His one yesterday was spot on though, so we had a high-five about that one just before I was wheeled in for EC! ✋😂

Acupuncture done at my end and my acupuncturist thinks I'm nuts for even thinking of going into work tomorrow 🙄 I feel a lot better now, but I'm certainly not feeling 100% and I have an hour and a half commute each way if I do go to work tomorrow 😣 Am I being a total wuss if I ring in sick?! I feel guilty, but then I'm also yo-yoing between feeling alright and being in considerable pain! I've spoken to the clinic again (they told me to ring back with how I was doing) and they said they're optimistic that it's not OHSS if I'm not feeling terrible all the time 👍 They also said to drink as much water/hot drinks as possible as it helps the fluid in my abdomen they saw on the scan reabsorb into my body and be cleared by the kidneys (so that's my advice to you for today @Nmvasey @UnicornPuff ! 💦). I think where I may have gone wrong yesterday was drinking diet coke in the evening 😬 Fizzy drink + (inflamed stomach from sedation x EC) = really, really bad idea! 🤦‍♀️

Feline123 · 15/01/2020 15:06

@Lily999 they are day 2 today. My clinic are hoping to do a 5 day transfer but said they will keep an eye on them in case they need me do a 2 or 3 day transfer....haven’t heard anything today so I hope no news is good news! We had IVF. I hadn’t heard of a split cycle before reading about it on here (I’m nhs) but we are unexplained and they preferred us to go IVF.

Lily999 · 15/01/2020 15:34

Thanks @BambiOnIce, so I will have to pop home as I am wearing leggings and a skirt, but the probably a dress would be better...
I will definitely ask about the split if it's an option on NHS.
You know it's so strange how the info pack from Ninewells says OHSS happens in 5% of the cases and readin the thread I get the feeling it's a lot more common than that.? Intriguing.
So nice to hear your period was light, but the lining was ok, I usually have significant;y heavier periods than this one and have been worried about this all day.

Lily999 · 15/01/2020 15:35

Oh, I see @Feline123 so Saturday is what you are aiming for then. No new is deffo good news in this process!

twinkleyes35 · 15/01/2020 15:37

Hi girls been sitting and reading all your progress.

I have just started IVF at glasgow and wanted to pour out my mind . I am day 6 stims and just had result for first scan and was advised to continue on same dose.

Side effects so far- headache which never seems to go away. And lower abdominal pain which is only getting worse by day .

Love to hear your thoughts too and positive vibes from you all x SmileWink
