First thread is filling up fast so I thought I'd get a new one ready so we can keep on supporting each other through this crazy journey! Will post a link in old thread 😊xx

So embryologist just came and they collected 10 eggs. Roll on day 5 so I know what I'm working with

Bestofyou1982 · 24/01/2020 10:17

@Sabz36 that's a great stash of eggs. How are you feeling?

Sabz36 · 24/01/2020 10:41

Excited. Roll on Wednesday for the outcome of fertilisation

HJF84 · 24/01/2020 10:48

@Bestofyou1982 I'm at home thank goodness. Just on my way to the clinic now for FET, then it's back home to rest and hope for a miracle

twinkleyes35 · 24/01/2020 11:14

@Sabz36 awww that's amazing what a great number to start with .. fingers cross for fertilisation x

@HJF84 good luck with your FET X

Sabz36 · 24/01/2020 11:40

@HJF84 wishing you all the best for your miracle

Lily999 · 24/01/2020 12:25

Well done @Sabz36 10 is great! Will they let you know tomorrow how many fertilised?

Had my second progression scan this morning and the follicleas are growing nicely, now have 15in total (7smaller and 8between 11-13mm) they are not upping my dosage as they like the slow and steady growth process. Will have to go back on Monday for another scan and they expect me to be ready by then.
Now had an interesting moment when the nurse said I have hydrosalpinx and asked if I had any tubal issues? I said I had a surgery where it was confirmed I don't have hydrosalpinx. Now it is back? So had the surgery and they didn't fix the issue? I am getting very upset as this surgery delayed IVF by half a year (!) and now we are back exactly where we started. Not sure what to make out of this now.

@jcurve what did they say to you? Had to freeze all, but then what's next with the hydrosalpinx?

@Parkandride so they went ahead now with knowing you have it? Or they are hoping it will go away?

@rainbow178 how did your scan go today?

Chooklass · 24/01/2020 12:32

Great news @Lily999 ! Can understand your frustration over tube issues though. Were they satisfied it had been confirmed your tube was fine?

OP posts:
Lily999 · 24/01/2020 12:40

The nurse said that is not something I should worry about, but I know if there is a hydrosalpinx present they will not do ET. I am just not understanding this as I had the surgery, so why wouldn't they clip the tube if there was liquid in it? The surgeon said there was no liquid in any of my tubes, there was fluid built up outside, not inside and he fixed that.
So why is there fluid now again? Can't get my head around this...

rainbow178 · 24/01/2020 14:16

@Lily999 hi! My scan went pretty much the same as yours!! About 13 follicles but only 1 was 17, the rest were all small so they have given me more stims drugs (ANOTHER £204!!) to last me till Sunday night and then a rescan Monday, possible EC Wednesday.

That is bad news about your tubes, how frustrating! I suppose at least though (looking for a positive) they can get the eggs out and fertilise and then freeze and you might be able to get rid of the fluid. Did they say it was bad enough to postpone ET? Sorry you have had bad news, as if we need anything else to worry about!!

I just having a cuppa and enjoying an early Friday finish after my 12pm scan!

Lily999 · 24/01/2020 14:37

They didn't say anything else just that that is not something I should worry about. But is it not just something they say to everyone then they drop the "cancelled" or "abandoned" or "freeze all" bomb on Monday?
How come the surgeon confirmed I do not have hydrosalpinx and now it's there? Ah, so frustrated now, I went through the surgery for no reason oh dear... What is even more important what happens if we freeze it all? The hydrosalpinx won't just go away on it's own.

rainbow178 · 24/01/2020 14:48

@Lily999 I totally understand your frustrations. I guess just try and wait it out over the weekend and not worry un-necessarily (advice often given to me by OH-easier said than done I know!!). Try and keep busy, I have got a facial booked in for tomorrow to try and take my mind off everything.

Lily999 · 24/01/2020 15:40

Thanks @rainbow178 I am trying to focus on the follicles growing nicely, but it keeps coming back into my head. I did everything right, went and waited for the surgery to get this fixes once and for all, then this happens, ah...
We will see what they say on Monday, but obviously with keeping the stimulation going the liquid is not expected to reduce, it will probably get bigger that is even worse.
OK, trying to keep positive now!
Great news about your follicles as well, we have Monday morning to look forward to then. Might have EC on the same say as well, how exciting! :)

candycornlover · 24/01/2020 16:18

Thank you for all your luck ladies xxx

Transferred one hatching blastocyst. Embryo hatched at 9am this morning and transferred at 11am. Hard work all done now, just need to find some patience to wait it out now and see 🙈

I said to DH afterwards "well you could at least take me for a nice lunch, seeing as I didn't even get a shag at this conception 🤣"
@HJF84 im so sorry to hear you didn't have the best news about your embryos, but fingers crossed for your one special one xx

Pinkstars2501 · 24/01/2020 16:59

Sorry about your tubes @Lily999 so frustrating!

Hope everyone's retrieval's or transfers were good. Some great egg numbers on here.

Of our 12 eggs from Tuesday, 8 fertilised. They called yesterday to say that they had all divided etc and look great so on track. Then today they called and said they all look really good and at this point they wouldn't be able to put back two 3 day embryos, due to high risk of multiples, so will do it either Sunday or Monday as a 5 or 6 day blastocyst. Apparently that has the same, if not slightly higher rate of success as a 3 day embryo but is safer.

I trust them to do what's best for me and our little embryos so I'm happy with that Smile

Parkandride · 24/01/2020 17:10

Oh @Lily999 that's so frustrating and sounds similar to me, it was outside the tube - they got rid and it came back. I was clear when I went under that if it was at all dodgy I wanted the tube removed as I'll get them removed anyway later as I have a brca mutation. Anyway they didn't remove it, and are happy to progress despite the fluid but said I'd need an early scan after a BFP to check for ectopic, hopefully yours will be similar

Minster2012 · 24/01/2020 17:20

Good luck with your envies on board @HJF84 & @candycornlover fingers crossed for you xxxx

We are a bit less positive for our FET in a couple of weeks after my scan this week said we need another week on the hormones to get my lining thicker the day after my scan I was throwing up from 6.15 in the morning til 6 at night & admitted to hospital on that day (yesterday) with severe dehydration & having to have IV fluids & cortisol, staying in tonight too so don’t know if my tablets have stayed down & not been active at all 😫😔
Doctors say viral infection & my history means hits hard & fast

Lily999 · 24/01/2020 17:31

Oh @minster2012 sorry to hear you re unwell, hope you will get better soon, sending hugs your way!
@Parkandride it is so strange I said the same I told the surgeon just clip that freakin' tube I want this sorted and go into IVF with the best chances I can have. He said both of my tubes were perfectly fine and healthy, there was only fluid outside the tube. Now today on the scan it shows I have hydrosalpinx. I am so upset.
Don't know if they will go ahead with ET, but I know that we can have an ectopic or miscarry with the fluid there. Why didn't the surgeon remove the tube? Hubby says the surgeon is a professional and he must have known what he was doing (to be fair he is like a gynaecology God and has the best reputation), but I am so worried IVF will not work due to this. So we are supposed to just ignore it and hope for the best? Then what was the point of the surgery?

jcurve · 24/01/2020 17:48

@Lily999 so I had a laparoscopy & HSG in September where they noted that my left tube was slow to spill but then spilled promptly on the second attempt (ie no hydrosalpinx). I also had no hydrosalpinx at my baseline scan, it appeared at Day 4.

One of the side effects of the IVF drugs is that hydrosalpinx can develop out of nowhere which is what happened to me & maybe is what has happened for you. Because I had limited success with egg quality and only got one frozen embryo, they don’t want to risk it if my tube decides to leak fluid again.

Unfortunately it means another laparoscopy, I asked them if they could clip it at the egg collection & they said no. Timing tbd as I haven’t had my follow up appointment yet. Hope that helps x

Stace999 · 24/01/2020 18:01

Thank you for the welcomes I can't keep up with everyone's story but will try and have a good read later. 8 follicles at scan today 6 on the left and 2 on the right..the nurse was really happy with that number and how they looked.. I would have liked more but it could be worse I guess. This is my 1st time on short protocol and I am responding better (I was stimming for 3 weeks on long protocol and they got 6 eggs) Another scan Monday then EC probably wed.
Off to London tomorrow for the night for hubby's bday present (Frank skinner) I may treat myself to a glass of wine don't think it'll do any harm?!

HJF84 · 24/01/2020 18:30

@minster2013 I'm so sorry to hear you are unwell. Sending you a big hug and a speedy recovery. Maybe the unforced rest will allow your lining to grow nice and thick. Just take it easy Thanks

Lily999 · 24/01/2020 18:44

Thanks @jcurve I'm thinking the surgeon should have known it can return and clipped it as he knew I'm going for IVF. Feels like that surgery was completely redundant. I as well specifically asked for it to be clipped like @Parkandride did so do feel let down. Had you had more embryos they would have transferred one this cycle?
@Parkandride are they happy to go ahead because it's outside? Does it mean ours can't leak into the uterus? Sorry for all thr questions, but it's really helpful for me!

rainbow178 · 24/01/2020 22:36

@Minster2012 get well soon!! Enjoy the rest!

@Stace999 welcome- I am pretty much exactly same as you! It is my 4th as the protocols haven't worked for me in the past- I'm opposite though, long cycle seems to get me more eggs. Had my 2nd check up scan today, back Monday and possible EC Wednesday. Had 7 on one side and 5 on the other. So just waiting now.....as usual!!

Parkandride · 24/01/2020 22:50

@Lily999 I've just dug out my notes, so they suspected hydrosalpinx or cyst but their findings say no evidence of this, but it was a small diverticulum on the fimbrial end of the tube which was decompressed. They suspect it only very slightly increases the risk of ectopic but prudent to have early scans in pregnancy.
Then when I had scans and it had popped back up they seemed pretty relaxed about it, I will ask when I go in for my scan in 9 days.
I don't think they can be sure about hydrosalpinx just from a scan so hopefully it's not that and just a blip from the hormones or something x

jcurve · 25/01/2020 07:06

@Lily999 yes, perhaps you’re right. Having said that having a hydrosalpinx won’t prevent IVF unless it is leaking fluid into the uterus (which apparently they can’t see on a lap, only ultrasound - I asked why they didn’t see it on my lap).

For me, the fluid went away by Day 10. To answer your question, had I gotten better egg collection results, they would have definitely transferred an embryo as I had a really good lining (14mm) & said as much to me. Because they suspect the fluid has also impacted my egg quality, they want to deal with it now before an FET.
