IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

Morning, triplet 3 reporting! @CarbsAndCheese @SpyroC

Scan this morning showed more
Progress so now waiting for consultant to review and advise if we are triggering tonight or sat. They think last scan done now unless they decide Monday and want to
See progress over weekend. Got a 20mm and lots of 15-20s, and a new handful of 10-15s which will be there by the weekend they say! Fingers crossed, may not even fill the sharps bin if they say trigger on day 8!

Lianne32 · 12/03/2020 12:30

Hi girls so

I’m after some advice really, I work a physical job I have limited time off so is it going to be detrimental after embryo transfer to return to this job properly I’ve been doing it for 3 years, I work in a spa. I can Obviously get egg collection off.

What supplements are good! I’m taking zita west vitafem currently - also avid gym goer so eat relatively healthy anyway, I’ve been advised to stop weight training during stims because of my ovaries. How much protein is sensible ? Also what about protein shakes.

Sometimes I work evenings can I transport my ivf meds with me out the fridge at home for a hour during transport until I can place them back in a fridge at work?

I’ve come down with a cold which I think has delayed my period - so do you think it’s ok to start stims whilst having a cold I don’t have a fever

Also have suspected raynauds my
Fingers turn white when cold doesn’t happen all time I’ve ignored it never thought
To get tested is this going
To be bad for pregnancy?

Hope everyone is ok on their journeys looking forward to discussing!

@luby89k ooh wow, the hot flushes sound awful. No, I've not had to DR at all so I've only got 10 days of these. My AMH was quite low so am only on .25ml dose per day.

@granddesigns that's brilliant!

Hi @Lianne32 have you asked your clinic? Mine said that my normal cardio is fine if I feel like it, but to go easy on the weights and avoid HIIT. So I would assume the same would be fine for work, no heavy lifting but general duties ok. I make a homemade protein shake from fresh spinach, frozen avocado, dark peanut butter and almond milk and have that every day. I'm not sure about the other things you mention? My fertility nurse is so lovely, I hope you've got someone like that at your clinic so that you can pick their brains?

Supplements wise I take folic acid, vitamin D and also Ferroglobin plus liquid as my iron level is rubbish. Currently vit C and zinc too to help prevent a cold my dd has.

confused107 · 12/03/2020 13:13

Hello everyone. I'm back from EC and delighted they got 11 eggs, it beats the 6 we had last time. Feels strange that it's all out of our hands now it's just a waiting game to see how we get on. Hope everyone is doing ok today

granddesigns · 12/03/2020 13:15

Well done @confused107 - know what you mean you have done everything you can for now and can only focus on being ready to hopefully receive them back soon at ET. Fingers crossed!

luby89k · 12/03/2020 13:44

@confused107 congrats. 11 is amazing! xx

CarbsAndCheese · 12/03/2020 13:54

@jodesxx 2 blasts in the freezer is amazing!! Thats great news.

@Fredsgirl19 congratulations on your BFP- I'm hoping for a sticky one this time for you.

@confused107 11 eggs is brilliant- almost double what you had before! Fingers crossed that there's a great blastocyst amongst them.

@luby89k your scan sounds almost identical to my downreg scan, just a week behind!

@granddesigns your scan sounds amazing! Have they said if they are aiming for a fresh transfer or not with lots of follicles? We are aiming for a fresh transfer but I feel like they are going to want to freeze all if my right ovary carries on being hyperactive! I'm really hoping my scan will be as positive as yours tomorrow and i can get it all over and done with! I've started having a lot of twinges in my pelvis which is a bit uncomfortable. I'm also super paranoid about the coronavirus ruining the cycle and just want to get something into the freezer if at all possible!

spacegirl123 · 12/03/2020 17:11

Girls, had the worst day at work.

I'm in the middle of meds for an FET, my scan is on Wednesday to see when I'll have my transfer.

Was so p*ssed off I had a glass of wine (I'm working from home) and now I'm feeling insanely guilty. Day drinking aside (it was that bad), how bad is a glass of wine mid-FET?

luby89k · 12/03/2020 17:25

@spacegirl123 i wouldn't be so hard on yourself. One probably isn't going to do much. I just wouldn't have another. Ordinarily i'm all for a day drink 🤣

SpyroC · 12/03/2020 18:18

@luby89k well done on your first menopur. I did and they couldn't see what I was doing wrong so asked me to come in if not sorted on that evening. In the end I think I now only lose about 0.2ml which I figured is negligible and is probably just me over thinking. Over people probably don't even notice that. I'd buy my own wipes but....nothing's left! I find it hard to push in as well. It's just unnatural to keep pushing. Sometimes it seems to sting more than others. Who knows why 🤷🏻‍♀️.

That's exciting triplet sister @granddesigns ! What did they decide. I have my first scan tomorrow which is day 9!

@Lianne32 I asked my consultant about having a cold and she said they'd go ahead. Anything more then they'd cancel. Supplements I take are hight strength vit C & D, vegan omega 3, multivitamin, methlyfolate, Coq10, DHEA and melatonin (the last 2 under consultant guidance)

That's excellent @confused107 ! I hope you're feeling ok x

@CarbsAndCheese I have a lot of twinges too. Didn't expect that expect that with low AMH! We shall see tomorrow. Probably a cyst knowing my luck. I'm so worried about corona wrecking everything too. Today I woke up with a cold which completely freaked my out. Thankfully I have no symptoms that they are saying to stay home with. Still I'm really annoyed about it and worried it'll lower the quality of my eggs.

@spacegirl123 I wouldn't worry too much. If it was a massive issue they'd make it super clear. It's bubbles in injectable a there worried about not drink.

MorgenMuffel · 12/03/2020 18:53

Hi everyone, this fell off my threads so sorry for not checking in! Will catch uo tonight on everything.

I'm day 3 of stims (gonal-f) now. Had headaches, bloating and hot flushes at night since starting the down regs, but not too bad. Am drinking bucketfuls of water!

Have had some unexpected vaginal bleeding today which has got me a bit worried- will ring the clinic in the morning. Has anyone else experienced this?

luby89k · 12/03/2020 21:36

Is anyone worried about corona virus? The hospital i am at has cancelled all none emergency appointment for 3 months. (routine appointments so far) They haven't said anything to me yet but i'm back tomorrow i just hope they don't cancel any cycles 🙈🙈🙈

SpyroC · 12/03/2020 22:03

@luby89k yes very worried. I'll see what happens in the morning. I've been quite upset this evening. Why now? As if having ivf isn't challenging enough alone.

luby89k · 12/03/2020 22:08

@SpyroC Belfast has already cancelled cycles. Just another thing to add to our stress. My DH has told me to try not to worry to much as there's nothing we can do to change it if they do.

confused107 · 13/03/2020 05:42

@SpyroC and @luby89k there didn't seem to be any concern about corona virus at the clinic this morning, but I am in England. I think there is a much more phased approach to it here. It probably also helps that we are at a clinic separate to a NHS hospital. I suppose at the end of the day they are a business employing staff like everyone else so they want to keep going as best they can. Please try not to worry. It's completely out of our control

HJF84 · 13/03/2020 07:26

@luby89k Today would be the day of my day 5 scan and the start of my stims (I'm on natural modified IVF) but DH and I have decided that it's not the right time to start a cycle with everything that's going on with Covid-19. My clinic is in the London, and we're on the outskirts. I called my clinic and asked them about it, and they said I was fine to go ahead, but I think it's best to wait. There are so many unknowns at the moment.

granddesigns · 13/03/2020 07:30

Nothing from our clinic as yet but think we are too far along the process to be cancelled unless things really get worse - we all sit there in the waiting room for scans watching the bbc news! Staff included as they call people in!

They decided trigger on Saturday for collection on Monday so onto last few injections now - just as well as skin I'm getting tighter to pinch as I inject. Must have missed my calling as a nurse or something as don't see to have bruised up and only marked skin where I have caught myself with the needle on the way out and scratched the point of injection.

They are still aiming for fresh transfer so hoping not too many more follicles decide to grow and risk over stimulation - they said it was a close thing but consultant felt day 8 was a bit too early. Trigger tomorrow though and some juggling of my work diary today for Monday and Tuesday. Anyone who has reached egg collection stage any advice on quick recovery?!

Got some events this weekend which I'm still playing by ear - IVF and coronavirus pending!

confused107 · 13/03/2020 08:17

@granddesigns that's great news. I had EC yesterday and while I felt uncomfortable I wasn't in major pain afterwards. Nothing and afternoon on the sofa with a hot water bottle watching cheer couldn't fix! Just take it easy and give your body the rest it needs

granddesigns · 13/03/2020 08:29

Thanks @confused107 I'll take that! After a week of broken sleep and early starts for injections and scans that sounds great! Shame about the EC procedure first but that's the first big hurdle to overcome!

SpyroC · 13/03/2020 09:06

I just had my scan. They also have bbc news on in the waiting room, though they always do tbf. Only things that have changed is hand gel on the way in and out and asked about travel to high risk countries. I asked the nurse and she said business as usual for now and just advised me to avoid crowds but that there was no evidence it harms pregnancy.

I have 6 good sized follies and a couple more may catch up. Which I'm happy with as my afc is only 8. My lining was textbook perfect apparently. At least something is. Ec Monday or Tuesday I will here from the consultant this afternoon.

Those of you that have had ec do you think 1 day off work is enough or do you need 2? I don't work in a job where I can take it easy.

confused107 · 13/03/2020 09:20

Not great news to me. Of the 11 eggs only 3 have fertilised. They have no idea why it's so low. Trying to remain positive

@SpyroC I felt have fine both times the next day but I have a desk job and can take it easy

granddesigns · 13/03/2020 12:51

Well done @SpyroC - it's nice to see what all the drugs have been doing at the scan!

Sorry to hear @confused107 - hoping they keep making progress - I'm dreading the numbers part as everything till now has been medically controlled and measured. Know they only need one but still a really difficult journey. Hope you can keep busy this weekend when waiting for an update.

CarbsAndCheese · 13/03/2020 13:37

Oh @confused107 don't give up hope! I've seen so many ladies on here who had disappointing news at some stage in their cycle but got there in the end. All my fingers and toes are crossed for you!

I had another scan today and the left ovary has totally given up. Not a single follicle. Still, we plod on. The right side is behaving at least. I'm waiting for a phone call with the results of todays blood test but the plan is for egg collection on monday. We really are cycle buddies @granddesigns @SpyroC !

How is everyone else getting on?

SpyroC · 13/03/2020 15:14

I'm sorry @confused107 I hope the 3 grow nice and strong for you. You just need that one strong one. 🤞🏻 for your next update.

@CarbsAndCheese as anticipated my left only had 2 of the 6 and nothing else looking like it might catch up. I think my endo is responsible and for my low AMH in general. I'm only 31 😔

Thanks @granddesigns yes it is-I was so relieved.

My update is to carry on with the drugs tonight and then scan tomorrow morning. No mention of EC so not sure if Monday or Tuesday. My tummy is getting a tad tender now.

I'm scared that we will have nothing to transfer at all. Don't get me wrong I am positive about the whole process but I know that with my AMH getting 1 to day 5 will be amazing.

Hold on triplets-I think the ups and downs are about to get more intense but we got this! X

confused107 · 13/03/2020 16:13

Thanks all. It's such a rollercoaster isn't it? I started out with low expectations due to my low AMH and slow response, then yesterday my hopes were pulled right up after the EC and I feel like they have been dashed again today. But we are doing our best to stay optimistic. It ain't over till AF arrives.

My husband has gone to Cheltenham today so I'm off out to treat myself to another amazing massage with my lovely holistic therapist then I'm going to come home, have a bath, eat a chocolate donut and start tomorrow with a positive mental attitude!

I hope you all have a lovely evening whatever you are doing xx
