IVF in Feb/March 2020?

waitingforarainbow · 19/12/2019 08:01

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

Thanks @PickleKid that's reassuring and just as well wait ended up on applicator carpet blanket sheets - possibly a little inside me?!

PickleKid · 10/03/2020 12:12

I think if anything you'd want an antibiotic wipe! But I didn't use them either.

CarbsAndCheese · 10/03/2020 12:14

@PineappleC how are you getting on? Has the spotting settled?

@Youngatheart00 I'm sorry to hear your news. I think your withdrawal bleed from the hormones came early because you didnt have progesterone supplements as you weren't planning a fresh transfer anyway.

@SpyroC @granddesigns how are you guys doing? I think we might be cycle triplets except I am on Ovaleap rather than menopur. It comes in a pre filled pen and it is super easy to do. However, I feel absolutely nothing! I've convinced myself it isn't working because i feel so totally normal. I weigh the same, feel the same, and my husband says i haven't even gone crazy yet 😂 I have my first stimms scan tomorrow morning and I'm kind of terrified but also keen to have more of a plan for egg collection etc. Have you been told how long you'll be on stimms for, or given a provisional EC date?

granddesigns · 10/03/2020 12:35

Hi @CarbsAndCheese - cycle triplets! I'm a bit similar - feel really normal except some nausea first afternoon after meriofert in the evening and a couple of twinges. I also have first scan tomorrow so will hopefully get an idea of how things are progressing than. Provisional date of 16th but will know more tomorrow and probably after Fridays likely scan.

ValidUser · 10/03/2020 14:12

Hi everyone.

Did I miss anything interesting?

I've moved over to the April thread - ER for the week of the 6th. Starting 250 gonal f when AF comes.

BP was high, but that's settled and I'm good to go. (30, cycle 1, AMH 12.6, tubal plus antiphospholipid syndrome.)

Also, we confirmed IVF rather than ICSI - DNA fragmentation results unexpectedly perfect.

SpyroC · 10/03/2020 17:43

@granddesigns sharp bin progress 😂 love it! My DH closed the lid on the first one after one use and then the 2nd got full yesterday-looking in to it alone would've made me faint a year ago. I've only experienced menopur as an injection which is always a bit stingy. For some strange reason my left side hurts more than my left and seems to always bleed a little.

I feel left out-no antibiotics or alcohol wipes which everyone on You Tube seems to have.

@CarbsAndCheese @granddesigns cycle triplets! 🙂. I am feeling similar to the extent I was worried I wasn't getting my full dose. I even phoned the clinic yesterday who couldn't see what I was doing wrong-I concluded that I'm over thinking....again. I was nauseous and achey on day 1 and then nothing until today, a few very minor twinges, could even be unrelated. I'm really glad I've not gone crazy (still time), I thought it'd be much worse. I'm a bit out of sorts and am not on my A game at work but I think that's because I'm not sleeping too well but that's been happening since the last week of DR. Good luck for your scans tomorrow! I'm also jealous as mines on Friday....Friday 13th! Typical. EC is likely w/c 16th exact date to be decided on Friday.

@PineappleC I was thinking about you yesterday. How are you getting on? X

SpyroC · 10/03/2020 18:23

Welcome back @ValidUser . I am day 6 of menopur. I can't remember the last time my BP was even checked!

PineappleC · 11/03/2020 07:23

@CarbsAndCheese and @SpyroC thanks so much for asking. Full blown AF for me now, so no point in testing. Still not sure how that happens when on progesterone but it's definitely here! Im sad, but i had cramping from ET onwards so always thought sonething wasnt right. The good thing is that we have 6 in the freezer (2 had a growth spurt on day 6). We're going to take a month out, have a holiday and just be normal for a bit before we try again.

I'm going to keep an eye on you guys and see how you're getting on. I really hope we get loads of BFPs on this thread 🤞🤞🤞

PickleKid · 11/03/2020 07:32

@PineappleC sorry about your AF and also that your holiday to give the finger to IVF is in this weird Coronavirus time. But I hope you and your partner have a good time anyway and enjoy focussing on the relationship for a bit.

Have there been any BFP here yet? I feel like there were some rumblings from people but not any confirmed.

granddesigns · 11/03/2020 09:37

Sorry to hear your update @PickleKid - hopefully you can get some time away to rest and recharge.

Quick update on scan this morning. All is going very well and quickly too! 12 follicles seen on day 7 scan so back again tomorrow for another to review whether we are triggering for egg collection sat or Monday but won't be later..... feels very real and imminent now! Hope your scans go the same way when you get to them!

confused107 · 11/03/2020 10:07

Just trying to catch up on all the posts. Thinking of you all whatever stage you are at. I'm sorry to hear your news @PineappleC I hope you and your husband have a good break away from it all

So I triggered last night for EC tomorrow. I've also started the steroids. They think I may have 9 viable follicles which is so much better than my first scan. Thank you to all of you that said so. Last time I had 7 follicles, 6 eggs, 3 fertilised and two were good enough put back in. Sadly nothing to freeze and a BFN, but I'm relieved that I will hopefully do no worse this time.

Anyone else have cramps after triggering? Didn't have this last time

takingthistooseriously · 11/03/2020 10:42

I'm so sorry @PineappleC I hope you have a nice break. I find it so difficult when you just know something isn't right- why do our bodies do that?!

Good luck for EC @confused107 !

CarbsAndCheese · 11/03/2020 11:32

I'm so sorry @PineappleC. I'm hoping your 6 in the freezer give you some comfort for whenever you feel ready to try again.

Good luck for tomorrow @confused107! Let us know how it goes!

Just like @granddesigns I am back from my scan. It seemed like mixed news to me- loads on the right but the left barely doing anything! I have 3 between 10-12 and 14 between 6-10 so carrying on the stimms. I've managed to earn myself a blood test for having over 15 follicles 😂 I have another scan on friday and should know more then. Is it possible the lazy side can catch up, or might I just not get many from that ovary?

Rumtopf · 11/03/2020 12:39

@PineappleC I'm so sorry about AF. A holiday and a break from the rollercoaster sounds like a great plan.

@granddesigns glad they've improved for you so much!

That's great news @confused107 good luck for EC tomorrow.

Good news for you too! @carbsandcheese I've no idea why one side is more active than the other?! I get loads more ovulation pain from my left than my right, but there's no real reason why.

I've had AF arrive this morning so we're officially on day 1! Eek. Start with the Buserelin tomorrow.

jodesxx · 11/03/2020 13:05

@PineappleC sorry to hear. Hopefully a holiday will be nice. If my next transfer does not work I think I may do the same!

@HJF84 it is a game of luck unfortunately. Hopefully good luck will come our way!! Maybe I should start searching for four leaf clovers!

I'm still waiting for my day 5 update which is really frustrating. Thinking the worst as they haven't called yet. On sat and mon they called in the morning so don't know why it is so late. I'm on lunch now In work so may try giving a call but don't want to be a pest!! Can't help but think this means none have made it.

Rumtopf · 11/03/2020 15:37

@jodesxx have you heard yet how they're doing?

jodesxx · 11/03/2020 15:49

@Rumtopf yes finally. Think I've been driving my partner insane all day calling and texting him moaning and stressing as been thinking the worst.

They've frozen two. One is top grade (5AA) and other is medium grade (5BC) so happy with that. Of the other three two got to blastocyst stage but very low grade so they wouldn't freeze and the other didn't get to blastocyst stage.

The embryologist was very helpful which was nice as she explained the grading process etc. In quite a lot of detail. If anyone wants me to summarise I will as know people were querying this. She said that it shouldn't be too long before they get us back in either so if I haven't heard anything next week may give them a call.

luby89k · 11/03/2020 16:54

Hi guys.

Been busy DR for 18 days. Finally got the go ahead to start Menupur today. I had the consultation about what to actually do so i recorded her explaining as i know you guys have struggled. Not looking forward to two injections a night. But now i'm finally on stims, i'm feeling i'm progressive as the hot flushes have nearly killed me off!

I'm on 3 amps.
Had 19follicles dormant this morning and my lining was 2.2mm. So relieved i can finally start!

I'm a week behind the cycle triplets 🤣 so hopefully you guys can tell me what's to come!

@PineappleC so sorry about your AF. Have the most relaxing holiday, you deserve it.

xxxx

Fredsgirl19 · 11/03/2020 17:01

Hi everyone,
Glad to see everyone is progressing well in stimms.
Sorry for those who haven't had success. It's one hell of a journey isn't it!

My OTD was Monday and I got a BFP. I have had bloods monitored and they have risen over the past 24hrs so i am currently pregnant!

We are obviously thrilled but have a very very long way to go yet as i have had 4 previous miscarriages so currently holding my breath and hoping and praying its our turn for some good luck!

x

SpyroC · 11/03/2020 17:40

So sorry @PineappleC This process is so cruel. That sounds like a good plan. 6 Frosties is great, maybe they will up your progesterone next time. Enjoy your break x

Thats fab news @granddesigns

That's great @confused107 good luck for tomorrow. Mine is fast approaching and I'm scared!

Lots of lovely follies @CarbsAndCheese . I don't know if the left will get a wiggle on but I wouldn't worry, the right sounds as though it's produced plenty on its own. I'm always suspicious of my left ovary as that had an endometrioma on it.

Good luck with the first injection @Rumtopf

Great news @jodesxx

Welcome to the menopur gang @luby89k I have struggled with the mixing but I have 6 amps. I get through the first 3 with few issues so hopefully it'll be less of a pain for you. The injection itself can be a tiny bit stingy but it's not that bad at all. I hope it's goes well tonight x

Congratulations! @Fredsgirl19 I think you are our first BFP. X

confused107 · 11/03/2020 22:35

@granddesigns that's great news it's amazing how they pick up

@CarbsAndCheese, I don't know but there seems to be a lot of us seeing massive improvement between scans. I know it's relative and we are all different but I would be delighted with the action from your right across both of mine

@rumtopf and @luby89k best of look with the injections. Like @SpyroC I was on the 6 amps and while it's nerve wracking at first after a couple of days it's much easier. You have got this

Massive congratulations @Fredsgirl19. So pleased to have a positive result on here. Make me feel a little braver for tomorrow. I'm scared too @SpyroC. More scared of the procedure than last time and scared that I won't even get as many eggs as last time. I have no idea why I am competing with myself as there is no point aiming for another negative result but it's a strange thing this fertility treatment

Sorry if I missed anyone but I'm thinking of you all and I am grateful for you updates. Infertility is a lonely world, especially if like us you don't tell many people in real life.

luby89k · 11/03/2020 22:39

@SpyroC it was a success (kind of) once i'd prepared the needle and stuck it in i couldn't get the plunger to move with one hand, which was awkward. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. It did sting a little but not straight away. They said they may change my dose friday but fingers crossed I progress nicely. So pleased i'm on stims now!

Did u ever ring the clinic to find out where you 0.5ml was disappearing too? Also forgot to say before i never got any alcohol wipes either 🤣 she said your stomach is one of the cleanest places to inject so they don't bother.

Congrats @Fredsgirl19 that's what the dream is 💕 so pleased for u.

@confused107 good luck tomorrow!

@Rumtopf good luck starting buserline tomorrow! i have a love hate relationship with it but at least it's a step in the right direction.

@CarbsAndCheese weird one side is being abit lazy but i didn't start with equal numbers either side so i'm assuming they must just respond differently. fingers crossed it gets a move on! xx

Rumtopf · 12/03/2020 10:20

@Fredsgirl19 congratulations! Marvellous news.

@jodesxx good news for you too. If you wouldn't mind explaining the grading that would be lovely and very helpful, thanks.

@confused107 good luck today with EC! We haven't told anyone in RL either so I totally agree, having you all to talk to in here is immensely reassuring.

@luby89k I'm just behind you. First Buserelin went really well, I've got a numb area on my tummy so I went there and it was fine. Start stimming tomorrow evening. Why the love hate for it? I've got mega af pains right now so I can't tell if anything else is hurting.

Thanks @SpyroC it went ok. Dh had to look away as he gets a bit funny about needles and went very pale! From tomorrow I'll be 300 units of Menopur and 75 units of Gonal F in the evening too.

Dh's Dad is freaking out about Covid19, he's a bit of a hypochondriac at the best of times and throw in that he's Italian and all his family over there are on lockdown as well as living in central London and he's having a panic. Dh asked last night if it might be a good idea to suggest he comes to stay for a month or so, I've had to say no and point out that now might not be the best time as I might be more stressy or emotional and reactionary than normal. How's everyone's moods been taking all these hormones?

luby89k · 12/03/2020 11:54

@Rumtopf after i got used to the injections i didn't have any side effects but the last week of it i feel like i was about to boil. I have about 20 hot flushes a day where i sweat profusely for about 3 mins then i'm freezing. So although the injections went smooth the heat is killing me off. The hospital did say i was on them for a little bit longer than most people so maybe thats why. Hence the love hate 🤣

luby89k · 12/03/2020 11:57

@Rumtopf just realised you may not have DR first if your already started stimming. i had it for 18days at a high dose from day 21 xx
