IVF in Feb/March 2020?

waitingforarainbow · 19/12/2019 08:01

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

That’s great news @PineappleC!!!
Still spotting but also still brown so no idea what’s going on and don’t have time to dwell on it as my 3 year old just got diagnosed with Scarlet fever so I’ll be pretty next few days but will keep you all posted x

WarriorSmith · 02/03/2020 20:34

That's great news @pineapplec
Hopefully your TWW goes smoothly for you! Is 5AA the grade of the blastocyst?

@confused107
It took me about a week to feel something was going on down there, I was on menopur 150. I only really had tender boobies and felt just like I was having my period still. So maybe give it a few days and you'll start to feel differently.
Hopefully nothing sinister with the lump and maybe your EC appointment might move forward depending on your scan this week 🤞🏼

PineappleC · 02/03/2020 20:45

Ah thanks very much everyone, it's a huge relief and we feel pretty positive. Now just the dreaded 2 week wait! 🤞

@luby89k ET was really quick and straightforward. I didn't feel very much at all other than when they were cleaning my cervix which just feels like a smear. So nothing to worry about at all 😊

@WarriorSmith thanks 😊 Yes 5AA is the quality. I think they grade them from 1-5 and A-C once they reach blastocyst. Have you had any news on yours today?

@SpyroC hope your scan goes well tomorrow xx🤞

WarriorSmith · 02/03/2020 21:07

@pineapplec
Oh Ok! So I'm assuming a 5AA is really good? Do you haven many plans for your TWW?
Yes, they called this afternoon. We had 44 mature eggs out of the 64, 34 of which fertilised and they frozen 18 today 😱 it just doesn't seem at all possible to be honest 🙈 They graded mine at 2? Embryologist confirmed the rarely give out a 1 and they're stronger than a 3? Which goes way over my head 🤣
I started to bleed today, I'm hoping that's a sign my body is getting back to normal - hopefully it's faint on Thursday for my check up. I'm just in limbo until I get the go ahead my ovaries are normal size again

Morganmom · 03/03/2020 01:52

Hi there ,
I would like to join this group even just to hear positive stories . I am in day #4 cycle of IVF. Doing micro Lupron protocol. Had cycle before and it failed, listed as under responder. So far today I have 6 follicles and range from 10-13 so I really hope we get embies this time around. I am praying hard! Congrats to this of u in your tww on here

PineappleC · 03/03/2020 07:55

@WarriorSmith hmm sounds like maybe they're just using a different grading system if 1 is the best on yours. For mine, a higher number was better. 18 is absolutely fantastic! Glad your body's starting to get back to normal 😊 I do feel a bit "out of sorts" with all the unnatural hormones so that must be nice!

Also just wondered, has anyone had a very light crampy feeling just after ET?

PineappleC · 03/03/2020 07:57

(I mean 18 eggs is fantastic, there is no 18 on the grading system as far as I'm aware!)😊

ChatWithMe · 03/03/2020 08:17

Welcome Morganmom and good luck for 2nd time lucky x

Hope your daughter feels better soon Hatawa83 - it's tough dealing with lots at once. Hope tomorrow brings some positive news.

That's interesting about the grading systems for different people. My clinic said the number is the size so 5 was big and 2 small for example. The two letters were the quality of the parts that firm the future fetus and the future placenta so AA is the best, then AB, BB which is satisfactory, through to CC which is poor.

I was a bit sore after EC PineappleC so a bit crampy is normal. Inflammation to heal the trauma from the procedure. Hope you're feeling better though. My EC will probably be around March 25th if my estimation is right. Just want to get it over with! x

Rumtopf · 03/03/2020 09:14

There's some lovely news to come back to. Fingers crossed for positive outcomes for us all.

My PTA is on Thursday this week with af due next Thursday/Friday. Had a phone call yesterday saying I needed to get my bmi down by 3 points before treatment could begin. However, they hadn't updated the system from my last appt and it's down by 2.5 points and is now 35.1. It was such a stressful phone call. I have been trying SO hard to lose weight, have been so completely focused, I eat a keto diet, work out 5/7 days, weightlift, do at least 15k steps a day, never go over my macros or calories and I struggle for every half pound. That call has really stressed me out and all I want to do is either cry or eat a chocolate cookie. I've not had chocolate, bread or pasta in over a year!

Youngatheart00 · 03/03/2020 10:29

Oh @Rumtopf you are so very nearly there! Keep going and cross that finish line, can you get your weight recorded at your GP first thing in the morning before you’ve eaten (and certainly not during AF, maybe just after!) if the margins are that slim. Or do you need the clinic to record your weight? Could you just for the sake of pedantry say you’ve weighed yourself and you’re there. By the time the appt comes round you will be. Sending best wishes - what a stress.

Rumtopf · 03/03/2020 11:48

@youngatheart00 thanks lovely. They've not weighed or measured me yet tbh. I have got a photo of my scales as I keep a record that way lol.
I was heavier than this when I conceived my dd and I am in MUCH better shape now than then. Weighing me on Thursday will do no good as about 6-7 days before my af I start retaining water and by af can be as much as 7lbs heavier.
I'm eating my scrambled eggs and dreaming of the piece of cake I shall eat when I get my bfp!

How are you doing?

Oatmeal88 · 03/03/2020 16:30

Hi all,

I hope you don’t mind me joining in so late in the game!

My current situation is:
-I’m 31 soon to be 32
-Husband is 34
-Trying to conceive since June 2018

  • Did IUI twice last year, with the last treatment resulting in a miscarriage last September with OHSS and ended up in hospital
-Been on the waiting list for homerton and my slot which originally was for September had to be pushed back to last December due to the miscarriage -ivf in December with Homerton resulting in 13 eggs, 11 fertilised, 6 five day blastocysts frozen due to risk of overstimulation.

I’m now finally about to start my estrogen tablets for FET which will be somewhere around March 20th. I have my scan to check my lining Friday the 13th eek.

@PickleKid I would love to know how you got on. 🙏

I have a friend with all very similar history to mine that just got her BFP from her first transfer.

PickleKid · 03/03/2020 17:08

Hi @Oatmeal88 we had 18 eggs with 9 fertilising. I was a bit disappointed to only have 50%. I was hoping for more of a rate like yours. Even though I know half is still normal.

Tomorrow we go back for fresh embryo transfer and I find out how many have made it.

I assume atleast one because it's gone 5pm and there's been no call not to come in.

All in all been very happy with Homerton so far. And really grateful tbh.

CarbsAndCheese · 03/03/2020 17:50

Hi ladies,

Welcome @Morganmom and @Oatmeal88!

It sounds like it has been a really mixed bag for people on this thread. I'm really hoping those of you who got rubbish news will get some better news in the next few days.
Good luck for transfer tomorrow @PickleKid!

I've been for my downreg scan today and been given the go ahead to start stimms. There were 18 little follicles sat there ready and waiting to go. Those of you further along in the process, did the number of follicles on your downreg scan correspond at all to how many you got at egg retrieval? I'm wondering if I can count on there being 18 of if there will be a big drop off along the way!

SpyroC · 03/03/2020 18:03

Had my DR scan today and all is good. So will be starting menopur tomorrow. Turns out it's 1x injection, 1.5 of the water and 6 amps of the menopur (450IU). Sooo glad it's just the one injection! Any tips on injecting??? I think I'm gonna go with my stomach as I find grabbing fat on my leg weird.

Welcome @Morganmom

Wow @Rumtopf a year is dedication in deed! I miss bread and pasta and it's only been since Christmas! I'm sure you will get the last couple of points off no problem.

Welcome@Oatmeal88 that is a long journey to get started! Sorry about the mc. My next scan is Friday 13th too 😬. Good thing I'm not superstitious.

SpyroC · 03/03/2020 18:05

Sorry crossed posts @CarbsAndCheese I'm glad your DR scan went well too. Looks like we will be on a similar time frame then. They didn't mention follies today. 🤔

41trying · 03/03/2020 18:27

Evening all, lots to catch up on again. I have a feeling I will have to continue DR when I got on Thursday for Scan as I am still bleeding. Normally I'm done within 4 days, but no, so not getting Hope's up at the moment
@SpyroC @CarbsAndCheese last DR scan they didnt tell me how many folicols were there, just they were they are ovaries were quite.

PickleKid · 03/03/2020 18:42

Oh @CarbsAndCheese! I had 2 or 3 at that scan. Then 8-10 at the final scan. Then 18 at EC. So... yeah get ready for some big numbers and big belly! Grin

SpyroC · 03/03/2020 18:46

@41trying ok at least they haven't forgotten. I'm not bothered she didn't say as it'll just be something else for me to over think! I started bleeding on 14/2 (how romantic) which was my normal 4 days. However, I have been spotting ever since. She wasn't concerned by this, it was solely based on my ovaries being quiet and my lining being thin. Hopefully you will be ok. X

41trying · 03/03/2020 18:52

@SpyroC, I am hoping for the same, as it seems such a long wait this time for LP as I know what I am expecting. My clinic give our next appointments on the day I am there every time, so cant even plan anything really.

Oatmeal88 · 03/03/2020 19:06

@PickleKid good luck tomorrow! I have my fingers and toes crossed for you! Make sure to have lots of warm food and drinks during your two week wait. Chinese medicine stuff.
My sister has had IVF 11 times and had every issue going so she gave me lots of tips! Praying you have lots of good quality embryos to freeze as well.

@CarbsAndCheese if they say you have 18 follicles before stimulating I reckon you’ll get loads of eggs on retrieval. I can’t remember how many they said I had initially but wasn’t nearly that many. Loads more will pop up when you start your meds and to be honest even after your last scan before your trigger even more may pop up again! So I wouldn’t concentrate to much on the numbers but is interesting to know.
I had to stim for 17 days im the end because I wasn’t on a high enough dose for the first week.

@SpyroC definitely recommend your belly and to alternate sides each day. Did they tell you to do the same time each day? My sister stresses that doing the meds at the same time each day is really important give or take an hour.

SpyroC · 03/03/2020 19:17

Same here @41trying I think our clinic is the same group (didn't we both have all the videos at the start?). Today I got some rough estimates but just one appointment. I suppose it's better than going to an appointment for the sake of it and it being a bit too early as it was booked without the most up to date info IYSWIM. it's is annoying though-makes me feel unorganised which I hate but what can you do. I need to relax! I do feel much better after today's scan. 🤞🏻you can join me tomorrow.

Thanks @Oatmeal88 she said within a 2 hour window. Think I'm gonna do 7-9 as I'm used to doing the nasal spray then too.

luby89k · 03/03/2020 19:33

@41trying @SpyroC Was your AF during DR super heavy? Iv just started today and it's really heavy. I also called the client and they want my DR scan on either the 11th or the 13th which means i'll have been DR injections for 18/20 days which is super annoying. Congrats on starting to stim. This is where the process really starts to begin x

41trying · 03/03/2020 19:52

@luby89k, I have had heavy ones and light, different each time.

Youngatheart00 · 03/03/2020 20:42

Quick question - has anyone ever had a “day 4” update from their clinic? On day 3 they weren’t very optimistic due to slow cell division but told me the next update would be tomorrow, day 5. We are paying a heap extra for time lapse embryoscope. I foolishly hoped this would mean we would get more updates but it seems not. If the remaining embryos had stopped developing do you think they would have called today?
