IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

SpyroC it's cause they only come in 75iu 150iu and 1200iu multipacks. My pharmacy said today that they are out of 150iu so they will give me 75iu. For my 300iu daily dose I'll have to make up 4 vials with one water (Menopur instruction leaflet for 75iu says you can use up to 5 vials of 75iu with one water). Could be your clinic couldn't get larger sizes.

Hey all, had EC yesterday. It's too hard to at people so I'll try to cover a few things coming up on the last few days;

Multiple vials: I was on meriofort and had to do 1 injections with 3 a day. So three packages, three powered meds and one ampoule of liquid. I was a bit crap at breaking it so it was nice to have extra ampoules.

Number of eggs at collection: I was 8-10 looking good Wednesday and had EC yesterday and got 18. The final days a lot happened and that was the case for several of us.

The day: we were 6. The men got sent off and we were put together in a room and got picked off one after the other every half hour. One was really scared and didn't talk much but the rest of us final ones were thick as thieves. We exchanged notes on the process, whether we told our jobs, talked about life and encouraged each other. Gotta love the commeraderie of women!

Afterwards you have to drink a tea (or happy surprise a coffee- get a sugar even if you don't normally), have a sandwich and pee so I got to see some of them (even the earlies) pre and post procedure in varying phases. I was definitely looking for the previous two and asking after them before I went under. I remember that.

The earliest I didn't see after. One of them only got 1 but she was happy. She lot weight to for this chance and gets another try. She looked great after it presumably because it was straightforward. The scared one took recovery very hard. I shouldn't have seen her afterwards at all given timings. Two of us who got 18 were pretty good. And then there was the badass.

She got 24 but had fought them going to sleep so they had to give her extra drugs and thus it took her hours of dizziness and blood pressure regulating before she could go. I know this because we exchanged details. Both of us were eating chocolate bars at home by the evening though.

Timings: 7:30 arrival
11:00, 11:30 (last two before me)
See some of the earlies
12 (me)
1:00 wake up (me)
(Previous two are already up and it's just us left in recovery room)
1:30 11 am person leaves (18 eggs)
2:00 I've done all the things by now, dressed and waiting
2:30 discharge
3:00 home
5:00 the noon person gets to go

Swollen but feeling good. Boobs huge. Hormones in bum. I found the meds gave me the shits most of the time while the noon one said she was constipated throughout.

As such, during the required pee I also had to poo and eliminated all the rectal drugs they give. It's fine. I asked!

Final thing, you are in stirrups and I found that a really stiff thing- others didn't. I'm in decent shape but recommend some squatting and stretching in the days leading up if you don't want to be stiff.

Today get the number fertilised and Wednesday am one goes back in!

ChatWithMe · 29/02/2020 08:11

Wow PickleKid what a day! Glad you could pass the time with fellow IVFers. Shame you had to go hungry from ?5/6am waking to noon when you were put to sleep. Guess some people fast all day long for religious reasons sometimes but you must been hungry. Good work! Good luck for first call and Wednesday transfer!!

PickleKid · 29/02/2020 08:32

Oh no I had to stop at midnight! I was famished. Also told no water after 6am but because I was last they moved that to 9am.

Uoon waking up I was like ok let's do this, where's my sandwich? Grin

WarriorSmith · 29/02/2020 08:38

@pineapplec
Waiting patiently for our update this morning, I guess you're feeling the same?
I'm feeling much better, my belly is still a little bloated but my lower back feels like I've been punched by Tyson Fury 😭

@PickleKid
Hopefully you're felling better after your EC. All the best with your update today 🤞🏼 I found my boobs got bigger too and really sensitive

jodesxx · 29/02/2020 09:43

@PickleKid thank you for sharing your experience! Hope you feel better today. I would have thought they would have kept people more separate for some reason?

SpyroC · 29/02/2020 09:47

That makes sense @ChatWithMe

Congratulations on your 18 @PickleKid. Thanks for sharing the process it's interesting to know. The actual day sounds very similar to my laparoscopy. But thankfully the recovery sounds much faster.

I hope those of you waiting get good news today. X

Youngatheart00 · 29/02/2020 09:48

Well done @PickleKid - 18 is absolutely fantastic!

I’m feeling a continuation of the disappointment I’ve felt throughout this cycle as soon as it became apparent I wasn’t responding properly this time. They eventually got 6 eggs from me yesterday and the embryologist has just called to say there are 4 fertilised. I just don’t know why my numbers were so much lower when my AMH was unchanged, AFC actually higher and I’ve been living a much healthier lifestyle than the last cycle where I didnt really make any special effort other than cutting out booze.

I guess I should focus on the 4 hopeful embryos.

@WarriorSmith fingers crossed for another positive update re your army of embryos (suits your user name!) today.

PickleKid · 29/02/2020 10:11

I wouldn't despair 6 to 4 at all! My IVF buddy got 19 with 11 fertilised. But lost all the grounds in the growing phase. In the end she got 3. They put in two, froze one and she's pregnant. Remember it only takes one big strong one.

PineappleC · 29/02/2020 10:12

@warriorsmith glad you're feeling better 😊 I am too, it's been nice to move normally again! I'm also waiting for my update. Getting nervous, bit my clinic shuts at 1pm so I'm guessing that if we don't hear shortly it's good news 🤞🤞🤞 Really hope we both get good news!!

WarriorSmith · 29/02/2020 10:37

@Youngatheart00
Stay positive, you'll get another update in a few days and hopefully your 4 are still developing strong & showing good signs 🤞🏼
Army of embryos 😂 that's what it really is 🙈 33 are showing all good signs, at least 9 are at the stage just before blastocyst. Embryologist said all are strong but Monday's update will confirm how many will be be frozen until my body is fully recovered.

@PineappleC
I was up early waiting for the call, fingers crossed you don't need to wait much longer x

PineappleC · 29/02/2020 10:54

@warriorsmith wow that's fantastic! A really great result, you must be delighted! 😊

I'm still waiting....🤞🤞🤞

Embri · 29/02/2020 11:20

I’ve been quiet for the last few week, but reading all the posts and silently willing you all on!
I’m currently trying to get though the TWW without googling every symptom I have. Transfer of hatching blastocyst last Saturday, so I’m currently 7dp5dt. I had full resolve not to test until OTD which is next Friday 6th March as I have the day off work so if it is a negative I don’t have to face the world.

Well I’ve been a bit of an idiot... clearing out my bathroom cupboard, meaning to throw away old negative pregnancy tests that I had just shoved in there so I didn’t have to look at them, and I found some ovulation sticks. Just the simple ones off amazon...

I have read that it can detect HCG as it is the same chemical property as LH so it can’t detect the difference, pregnancy tests are more sensitive and can detect the difference.

I used one, not first morning urine, but just because I needed to pee on something!!!!! My honest hope was that it wouldn’t show anything as usually they aren’t sensitive enough to register HCG until HCG is quite high. I was hoping I could then get on with my week knowing that I needed to wait longer to test and have just alleviated the need to POAS.

It has come up as positive.

Do you reckon it could be trigger still??? (Which was now 2 weeks ago)
Do I go and buy some early detection pregnancy tests and test tomorrow?? Should I wait it out until Friday??
Has anyone been as stupid as me before and it was correct and they got a BFP?!

Help please!!! 😫😫😫

PickleKid · 29/02/2020 11:34

9/18. Back Wednesday morning to implant. Was told if you don't go private that you won't get daily updates and in fact they might not tell you until you are done with implantation how many remain.

PineappleC · 29/02/2020 12:23

@picklekid 9 is fantastic!! You must be pleased 😊

That kinda makes sense as to why I've had no update today too as this is our one NHS round. Seems like we're still on for a day 5 transfer as my clinic shuts in 40mins and can't imagine we'd be expected to go in now at the drop of a hat! They did imply that no news was good news, but it'll be at the back of my mind all weekend. Anyway, I'm taking it as a positive to not have had bad news 😊

ChatWithMe · 29/02/2020 14:52

Congratulations Embri I read you only need 10 days wait after trigger to get a real positive result on pregnancy test. If your egg collection was 12 days ago then your trigger was 14 days. I think you're pregnant. If it were me I'd double check tomorrow with first urine in morning on a first response pregnancy test.

Let us know what happens but I have a good feeling ;-)

Hatawa83 · 29/02/2020 18:08

@embri that’s early but not so early that it can’t be detected. Personally I’ve never heard of ovu tests picking up pregnancy so I’m your place I’d definitely test tomorrow with a FR early detection test. Fingers crossed for you. Going mad myself on day 4 post transfer. 3/4 days to go as I’ll be testing early for sure!

luby89k · 29/02/2020 21:07

Amazing. Well done everyone!!!

Just wanted to say (i'm on day 7 of buserelin injection so it's clearly my hormones making me emotional) But i think everyone in the group is amazing. I don't know you, but my god IVF is hard. I had a little cry earlier, purely because non of my friends had to go through this shit to get pregnant. It's so debilitating. But we are all so strong. Just wanted anyone to know if they are feeling abit shit. We have got this. Wishing all of us get our BFP. If anyone ever says to me again who have children that they struggled after trying for 3 months ( and trust me lots of people have said this to me) i'm guna punch them square in the face. Lots of love to you all xxx

Autumn1985 · 29/02/2020 21:19

Wow just caught up on the past few days, hope everyone is doing well! Had transfer so in the TWW now, not far behind you @Hatawa83
Who is else is on TWW, I think I’ve lost track...

ChatWithMe · 29/02/2020 22:00

Totally natural to feel emotional/tearful during IVF luby89k. I've definitely been there. The worst is when IVF is just one of several problems. Recently had a couple other things happening in my life that stressed me out and brought me down so it was difficult even thinking about infertility on top of that. Anyhow hope everyone on here can mostly focus on treatment as it's bloody hard enough! x

Embri · 01/03/2020 08:16

@Hatawa83 @ChatWithMe sorry guys I talked myself out of testing.
I am a walking talking example of burying my head in the sand 😂 if it’s negative at least I have a few more days of not quite blissful ignorance!
Looks like it’s going to be Friday testing! 😬

@luby89k
I got so emotional during my stims that when someone in my team messaged to say they couldn’t make it in due to the floods and were going to do a non clinical day at home I cried the whole way to work. Not because she was flooded and I was upset for her... but because she got to spend a day doing non clinical work which I want to have time to do!!

KazzyFroggy · 01/03/2020 15:22

Hi everyone! We started the evening injections last Tuesday and the morning ones today. I think egg collection will be week starting March 16. It's our first cycle of IVF, I'm 34 and he's 32, we have been trying since Sept. 2017. Feeling hopeful, one of my friends got pregnant with first cycle of IVF but obviously trying to not to get over-excited, even if it worked, quite worries about possibility of miscarriage. Anyway, we'll see!
Good luck to all of you 🤞

SpyroC · 01/03/2020 19:39

@luby89k I am day 16 of DR and thankfully have not been feeling overly emotional...Yet. I have found myself feeling anxious about random things that normally wouldn't bother me. I've also noticed I am more sensitive to the temperature. It is lovely that we can all share our experiences here.

Fingers crossed for you @Embri sounds promising!

Welcome @KazzyFroggy I will hopefully be starting stims on Wednesday so just a few days behind.

Have you all had your prolactin levels checked? I just read the menopur leaflet and it says this should be checked beforehand but, as far as I'm aware, mine hasn't been. It also says the highest dose is 300...clearly fertility Drs have upped this to 450! 🤔

I hope you've all had a lovely distraction filled weekend xx

41trying · 01/03/2020 20:14

Evening all, happy Sunday, I hope everyone is ok.
Day 13 of buserlin DR today and lining scan on Thursday. I'm not getting Hope's up too much to start stims as last time I had to DR a little longer.
I am looking forward to stimming and getting my moods back to normal ish again.

Robson13 · 01/03/2020 22:14

Hi everyone, the info I got from the hospital said to expect a period before day 10 of taking Buserelin. It's day 10 now and nothing. Does anyone know if it's the drug that controls when period would be due or whether I'd still be working on natural cycle?
