IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

@luby89k - I agree the injections are not great, for me it was more the bloating from the injections.
The pessaries are easy to insert in my opinion (they are tiny) but the are coated in a waxy substance that melts with the warmth of your body and as it has to go somewhere it leaks out ewww. Also it varies for everyone but the have given me the worst bloating, flatulence and upset tummy this time.
How far along on your journey are you?
@Youngatheart00 - yes we were very shocked to have 10 embryos frozen especially aged 39. My issue is not with producing the eggs or even with them taking it’s keeping them I have the problem with.
I remember someone telling me that you could have 100 embryos but at the end of the day it is all down to their quality so even with just one that could be far better quality than 10. Xx

Hi.
I have completely lost track of this thread, but I will try to catch up.
I am due to start treatment for FET on 10th of March. I haven’t been thinking about it much, but am a little anxious.
I have started to drink pomegranate juice and Raspberry leaf tea to help thicken lining. Although I think I might have started too early 🤷‍♀️

Good luck to everyone. Whichever stage you’re at.

Hi All,

I’m 32 and have PCOS
I’ve completed my first cycle of Short Protocol with Menopur 150 and Cetrotide.
My injections were absolutely fine - but in my first post stims scan they was concerned about OHSS. My Menopur dosage was reduced and then I was scanned a couple of days later.
The second scan showed I had Kissing Ovaries, the nurse said, “it sounds cute, but your ovaries are carrying that many follicles they’re touching”

I was asked to Trigger that evening and change my trigger injection from Gonasi to Buserelin to help with the OHSS.

Yesterday was my egg collection procedure, they took 64 eggs. The embryologist said, we’d look to normally take 7!!! Shock

Has anyone else ever had a large number of eggs collected?? How did you feel afterwards?? I wasn’t in any discomfort during injections, but since the procedure, I feel horrendous!

Today is my phone call on how many eggs fertilised - I’m going to try and keep busy I think!
All embryos will be frozen until my body recovers, could be 1-2 months but the clinic will scan & monitor me.

I felt for any woman needing IVF before, but now more than ever!

PineappleC · 27/02/2020 08:58

Thanks very much everyone 😊 Im cautiously optimistic but jeez the wait for this phone call is killing me!

@SpyroC yeah I know! I think it's the amount of oestradiol in your ovaries, which normally means loads of eggs. I guess I had 23 follicles so kinda makes sense! My blood level was too high which is why there's the risk, but I feel fine so hopefully all good! 😊

@jodesxx the nurse who was watching us yesterday said you could get 0, 1 or 2 eggs from a follicle. I think the follicles over 18mm are more likely to have a mature egg though.

TMI question: I'm doing my pessaries up my arse but haven't had any of the mess I keep hearing about. Is that normal, or am I doing it wrong!?

Hatawa83 · 27/02/2020 09:05

@PineappleC great news. Fingers crossed you are good for a transfer!

Welcome to all the new ladies on here. It’s great to have a forum where we all get each other’s feelings through such a difficult process.

@ChatWithMe officially they said 10 days but I always test, and always get a solid result, on day 8 post 5dt so I will likely test next Wednesday. So far I’ve had 4 transfers and 4 bfps so I’d be shocked if I wasn’t pregnant..but then things tend to go wrong from there so really a bfp will mean absolutely nothing to me. Only weeks of bloods and scans will get me anywhere near feeling hopeful. I’m scared to death tbh... just need to keep myself very busy for the next week!!!

confused107 · 27/02/2020 09:37

@PineappleC great news

@warriorC that's an epic amount. Hope you are feeling ok.

So yesterday was my first Menopur. I found the mixing very hard. I have to use 6 amps so just syringing in and out 6 times was really hard. My husband did it in the end but he is out tonight so I'm dreading doing it on my own. At least I get a massage today first. I'm sure it will get easier as time goes on

Also I'm not getting my first progress scan until next Friday which is after 9 days of injections. I thought I had more scans last time so I feel a bit anxious about that too. I suppose it's because there is not really any risk of overstimulating

PineappleC · 27/02/2020 10:05

8 eggs mature, all 8 fertilised! Huge sigh of relief here!!

confused107 · 27/02/2020 10:27

That's absolutely amazing news @PineappleC

Hatawa83 · 27/02/2020 10:30

@PineappleC yay!!!! Great start!

Youngatheart00 · 27/02/2020 10:31

@PineappleC amazing! Brilliant news

@WarriorSmith wow 64 eggs! How are you feeling, you must have been so uncomfortable!!

WarriorSmith · 27/02/2020 11:32

@Youngatheart00
I feel fine in myself, it's just my belly - it's so bloated and aches so much 😢😭

Received a call to say 34 out of the 64 have been fertilised. Our next update is Saturday morning

Youngatheart00 · 27/02/2020 11:33

34 fertilised, brilliant. Fingers crossed things continue to progress well for you.

I’m hoping they get 6 from me tomorrow 🙈 slightly different expectations!!

lyndseybabybrain · 27/02/2020 12:18

@PineappleC that’s great news that all fertilised!
@WarriorSmith omg I had 15 eggs and was really tender and bloated so you must have been really bad?
Anyone in their 2ww, I have no patience so it’s driving me mad already x

Robson13 · 27/02/2020 12:37

64 eggs?! That must have been a long process to remove them. I only got 3 and found the whole thing really painful so I really feel for you. Fingers crossed you get the call to say lots have fertilised x

Woodcottage1 · 27/02/2020 12:52

@lyndseybabybrain I’m on my two week wait, currently 7 days post 5day transfer x

PineappleC · 27/02/2020 13:01

Thank you very much everyone. We're really happy so far and just praying that at least a couple develop well 🤞🤞

@WarriorSmith wow 34 is fantastic!! You mustve been so uncomfortable so I bet it's a relief to have them out!!😊

Youngatheart00 · 27/02/2020 13:04

Question for those who have been through egg collection - did you get prescribed oral antibiotics for afterwards? Last time I didn’t (I think maybe they gave me a sole IV dose during surgery) but this time my clinic have prescribed twice daily oral antibiotics for 7 days as a precaution. Is this normal? I’m not keen on taking antibios without need..... (plus I’m sure I’m going to want a glass of wine during that time....(not doing a fresh transfer))

Rumtopf · 27/02/2020 13:56

Crikey, 64 eggs collected is immense! And 34 fertilised is just brilliant.

I'm currently wading through more forms and videos. Getting a bit freaked out about the meds and mixing them etc, hopefully actually injecting won't be too bad as I don't mind needles. Where do you actually inject them though? Would low down on my tummy be ok as I have a previous c section scar that has little sensation for a couple of inches around it.

Youngatheart00 · 27/02/2020 14:31

@Rumtopf low down on your belly is perfect. I just read not within an inch of your belly button (not sure why!). I would steer clear of the immediate scar area and a few mm around it to be on the safe side. Honestly, you’ll get used to it 😊

TinnedPearsForPudding · 27/02/2020 14:51

@lyndseybabybrain - My dates are the same as yours. The 2WW is feeling like an absolute killer, time is passing so slowly

jcurve · 27/02/2020 14:58

Hi ladies, I will join you as today is CD1 and next cycle will be another round of egg collection. I had a round last month that yielded a single frozen blastocyst but developed a hydrospinx and so I have a slightly longer road of a second round, laparoscopy then hopefully an FET.

@Youngatheart00 I did have oral antibiotics after my egg collection as I have endometriomas on one ovary.

WarriorSmith · 27/02/2020 15:30

@Youngatheart00
I hope everything goes for you Collection tomorrow!

@lyndseybabybrain
I'm feeling lots better than yesterday, I've got Fyremadel now for 7 days and a scan next week to make sure everything is settling down. I had zero discomfort during my injections, even the nurse asked me how I was wearing jeans 😂
But hopefully as the days go on I'll start to feel better.
I bet your 2ww seems to feel like forever?

@PineappleC
How are you feeling after your EC? We must be at the same stage? Although my clinic is 100% freezing all for me - our next update is Saturday morning. Is yours the same?

@Rumtopf
I know, it's crazy. The nurses and embryologist yesterday must have told me about 10 times because it didn't quite sink in 😂 I thought I must have been getting confused 🙈

41trying · 27/02/2020 15:45

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/3832813-TWW-Feb-March
Afternoon all, if anyone in TWW is interested in joining.
Lots of news to catch up in, lots going on in here.
For me I'm in cq10 of DR eith no sign of AF which I a right pain as I was due Tuesday. Nothing like inspecting toilet tissue evertime you go. Fingers crossed she arrives this weekend.

41trying · 27/02/2020 15:46

Was supposed to say day 10 of DR, bloomin typo

Yorkshirehope · 27/02/2020 16:36

Had ET today - they popped two back, one at blastocyst stage and the other nearly there. Both weren’t great quality so just hoping my body can give them a soft little pillow to grow a bit better. Roll on TWW 😬
