IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

Wow I didn’t realise so many of you already had children. You’re so lucky.

I can understand while people have to bring children but personally I would never do it. It’s a hard enough process without having to sit there with a child. Myself & DH have already discussed if we get that far that he will keep some parental leave back to mind a child while I go to appointments or he will use half days of annual leave.

Fingersforevercrossed · 22/02/2020 14:13

Worst possible test outcome - I have a HCG level of 4. Clearly not pregnant but I have to carry on with the medication and retest next Saturday. It hasn't work, it's just dragging it out.

Third chemical pregnancy from 4 transfers. Surely there's something wrong and it's not just bad luck??

Everything crossed for you @natalie62663

Hatawa83 · 22/02/2020 14:20

@fingersforevercrossed so sorry :( how many days past transfer is it? Don’t want to give you false hope but could it be one that attached late? I find that to be a really long wait. Surely they can retest in 2 days and give you the closure you need? That’s what they did when I had a chemical. Sending you a big hug xx

Fingersforevercrossed · 22/02/2020 14:27

Transfer was 9 days ago. About 3 days ago I had quite bad cramps and my boobs stopped hurting since then. I might just be overthinking but I feel like that's when it stopped. Explains the very faint lines on the early tests.

ChatWithMe · 22/02/2020 14:39

So sorry to hear that Fingersforevercrossed That just sucks so much. Virtual hugs. Good luck getting past this emotional hurdle x

Autumn1985 · 22/02/2020 15:23

Thanks @Hatawa83 we will be in TWW together as I transfer end of next week too :)

If it helps anyone with recent EC, my first I only got 5 and 5 fertilised... second I got 17! But still only ended up with 1 to transfer and only 1 to freeze. It does only take one but it can be anxiety inducing when there’s not much to play with but bigger numbers doesn’t always result in a much better outcome either in my experience so far. Lots of luck & baby dust to everyone awaiting the next steps.
So sorry to hear @Fingersforevercrossed 😔 do you have a plan going forward if it nothing changes? This will be my last transfer for at least a year and a bit so if it’s a no go I’m planning to go to a friend’s wedding abroad and hopefully move home - wouldn’t be able to do either if it did.

Woodcottage1 · 22/02/2020 19:46

Hello.
I’m so sorry to hear the bad news and disappointment. It’s a heartbreaking experience. I’m on my second cycle, and had a frozen 5day transfer completed on Thursday and currently on my 2 week wait. Very hopeful as we all are.

TinnedPearsForPudding · 22/02/2020 20:09

@Fingersforevercrossed so sorry to hear that, sending hugs your way Thanks

Fingersforevercrossed · 22/02/2020 22:07

No plans really. I have a Drs appointment but not until 1st April. Hopefully they might suggest some tests they can do on me to see why they're not implanting. Who knows really. We're currently self funding at an NHS clinic, thinking about going to a private place but were worried about them pushing add ons were too vulnerable to say no to 🤷‍♀️

Everything crossed for you @Woodcottage1

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 23/02/2020 07:31

@Fingersforevercrossed
A good clinic won't push add ons - in fact I went in with a list of all the things I had read about and my doctor said don't bother with pretty much all of them x

spacegirl123 · 23/02/2020 08:23

Hello ladies, just joining in as I've just started an FET with my prostap injection on Friday. Ghis will be my 6th transfer, with a previous miscarriage and a miscarriage after my first cycle. Transfer's likely to be mid-March.

My infertility is unexplained which is so infuriating. Fingers crossed this next little guy will stick, and good luck to you all!! Xx

spacegirl123 · 23/02/2020 08:33

@Fingersforevercrossed I'm so sorry you're having to drag this out. That has happened to me before and it's so painful hugs.

I'm at an NHS clinic as well, out of frustration we thought of going private to try additional tests or to see if they would have a different approach but were worried about the extra add-ons they would push. I see a fertility counsellor and she reminded me that private clinics don't have better results than the NHS clinics, and in fact our NHS clinic actually has slightly better live birth results than the private clinics. I think the extra tests (some of which almost bring you through all the IVF treatment just to have something to test) would just be too stressful to add onto the stress of our 6th cycle, never mind the cost. Have a look at the ive birth success rates of private clinics, you'll probably see that they're not much better if at all. I completely understand your frustration, it sounds like you and I are in similar situation. While I'm so sorry for you it's comforting that I'm not alone and neither are you.

Sending lots of love xxx

SpyroC · 23/02/2020 09:27

@Fingersforevercrossed so sorry Thanksx.

Sending hugs to those of you in tww or waiting for updates on follies or embryos x

Welcome @spacegirl123 I am DR if my first cycle at the moment meaning my transfer will hopefully also be mid March.

I am at a private clinic but nhs funded (they closed the nhs departments by me). I have been treated no differently than the private patients. They told me about add ons but advised that they don't recommend them until 3 failed cycles. She also pointed out the HFEA's traffic light rating system and said there's not much evidence for a lot of them, we just offer them as some women want it. So not pushy at all.

I got my DR bleed on Friday. Apart from being a day late, it's been just like any other period. Is this normal? Also my DR scan isn't until 3/3, does this seem late? I think it's fine-the nurse just said to call if I didn't bleed before then. I'm overthinking as per 🙈.

Woodcottage1 · 23/02/2020 09:29

Hello @Fingersforevercrossed I’ve not tried the uk clinics, due to my age, I’m 40, I started at British cyprus ivf in northern cyprus due to reports of how good the lab it supposedly has. I’m on estrogen, progesterone, prednol, aspirin and blood thinners during my two week wait. This is my second cycle, my first the egg quality wasn’t great, hopefully corrected in the second round with supplements and acupuncture. I ended up doing the genetic testing and one came back normal. Please don’t give up hope. One week today I’ll do my test and see what’s happened. I think I’ve already planned if this doesn’t work I start on mini ivf in Wilmslow at Create clinic. I think at my age it is all about trying to get that one quality egg over multiple. If I’m unsuccessful after having this normal embryo implanted I’m going to work with Tasha Blasi who is an American ivf coach and can keep everyone posted with what she suggests.

ChatWithMe · 23/02/2020 10:42

Hi Woodcottage1 good luck. I'm doing one more cycle next month with current clinic but then want to also go to my local Create as another lady on here is doing the 3 cycle package and getting good results so far. I definitely think small numbers of eggs better than large numbers in s lot of cases as long as they're mature. According to prospective IVF plan I'll find out if this next cycle worked in 9 weeks (pregnancy test day). Feels like forever but infertility makes us all wait and wait and wait and wait....

Yorkshirehope · 23/02/2020 10:56

Had our collection yesterday - seven eggs and just heard this morning that six fertilised. Such a relief, I had it in my head that I wouldn’t even have one. ET due on Thursday. Now the next long wait. Lots of love to others waiting for transfer. X

Woodcottage1 · 23/02/2020 11:57

@ChatWithMe having a plan makes me not go stir crazy. Also researching ivf clinics in gorgeous locations, just found a good one in Barbados 👍....but I think it’s mini ivf and create if this cycle doesn’t work x

41trying · 23/02/2020 13:19

Afternoon all! Congratulations to those with EC &ET its getting close now.
I'm currently on D6 of DR hoping AF shows up Monday Tuesday.
@SpyroC it sounds like you are right in track. Dr scan is normally a week after AF to making sure you lining in thin and ovaries nice and quiet. I'm hoping mine stays in track too.
How is everyone feeling?

Autumn1985 · 23/02/2020 13:49

Hi @spacegirl123 I’m doing FET at an NHS clinic too and recently joined the thread Smile

@SpyroC I think that’s usual from what I remember on past fresh cycles. How long have you been DR for? If 3/3 takes you up to 3 weeks of DR then I’d say that’s normal, even up to 4 wks. I remember one cycle where I wasn’t quite DR’d at the scan so it was 3.5 weeks in total.

PickleKid · 23/02/2020 13:53

Getting my scan tomorrow, so far feeling good. The am shot of Fyremadel hurts more and I find my left side much less uncomfortable for injections. I'm a week in. I tell anyone who asks it feels like I am sober by my ovaries are drunk.

I'm starting a new job in a week or so and will let them know the official date after tomorrow. Both current and future job are being really good. Moving to my client mid project so both orgs are known to me and want to be kind.

Weird to imagine meeting new people around the org with a bunch of progesterone up my bum. Blush

Youngatheart00 · 23/02/2020 14:12

@PickleKid that progesterone comment actually made me LOL!

I find the fyremadel stingy too. And today my Gonal F site randomly bled quite a lot. I’m day 10 of stims so now getting quite sore.

It’s good that you have flexibility in starting your new job!

Hope those waiting for AF / are down-regging see progression soon. IVF is such a waiting game at every stage isn’t it.

ChatWithMe · 23/02/2020 14:21

Good result Yorkshirehope. So you get to test March 9th I think. The end goal for you is where my journey starts as it all kicks off with next AF (?8/3/20).

Woodcottage1 Can't say I'd want to fly all the way to Barbados for IVF but if you have the money and time then why not? Each cycle takes like 2 months from start to finish so that's like a sabbatical more than a holiday for some working folk! I'd refer to get pregnant then have a staycation :-)

Yes a weird experience this IVF stuff that most people never get acquainted with PickleKid

Woodcottage1 · 23/02/2020 15:15

Hi @chatwithme my second cycle was 7 days in cyprus for egg collection with scans and blood tests completed in the uk at the birth company. My transfer was Thursday and I arrived in cyprus on the Sunday, but could have arrived on the Wednesday as I didn’t have to go in. The birth company in Alderley is great for my scans and bloods, as it means you don’t have to spend as much time away and my coordinator is good. I choose my clinic as the lab is good, and I quite like doing it abroad as it sort of feels like a holiday x

ChatWithMe · 23/02/2020 15:23

Oh wow. Interesting choice. Glad you could make something icky into something fun!

luby89k · 23/02/2020 20:57

Hey @spacegirl123 @SpyroC i'm dr atm too. My EC is meant to be Mid March. I'm probably afew days after you guys though. I need to start manning up, my injection made me nearly faint today 🤦🏼‍♀️

Fingers crossed for everyone.
Lots of you having positives on embryos. Congrats guys.

Sending lots of love to everyone. xxx
