IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

Just catching up on everyone's news. Best of look to everyone having egg collection tomorrow and I have everything crossed for those due to test. I'm looking forward to the first bit of good news on this thread.

So tonight I went for my first ever reflexology and it was lovely. Next week I'm getting an aromatherapy massage with the emmett technique. I can't wait! I'm not sure that I believe it can help, but Im using this pesky infertility as an excuse to spoil myself. I'm almost wishing the treatment to go on longer so that I can justify more massages!

Autumn1985 · 20/02/2020 21:02

Hi all, can I join? Not sure if I’m a bit ahead - FET here with transfer next week... but I think that lines up with anyone having EC this week! Having anxious thoughts about my one frozen not thawing well enough to use Sad

Nmvasey · 20/02/2020 21:17

@41trying not until the 2nd March. Willing the time to go quick!

SpyroC · 20/02/2020 22:15

@41trying I'll be on 400iu menopur a day which is 5 amps. 🙈 hopefully I am wrong about more injections , I'll find out on my next scan (if my DR has worked anyway). What will you be on?

@confused107 I had a foot scrub and massage today too! It was great. It made me think I should try reflexology around ec and et time. I don't like the sound of acupuncture but massage is 👌🏻. What's the emmett technique?

Welcome @Autumn1985 x

41trying · 20/02/2020 22:21

@SpyroC I'm starting on 450 gornal F, this is different to last time which I had menopur 300 then 450 for only 3 days. It was still only one injection on the menopur. The bottle was 1200 I think, so when on 300 it lasted me 4 days until I made it up again.
This time I carry on with buseeilin until EC, starting stimming 7 days with gornal F then lower it too 375 and add 75 menopur it's what they are trying. I said last time was my last go, but means they are going to try last resort of meds it will definitely be last attempt as well as being self funded

confused107 · 20/02/2020 22:45

Hi @SpyroC apparently the emmett technique is like a pressure point thing, but different pressure points to acupuncture. My plan is to go once a week and perhaps alternate between the massage/emmett one week and the reflexology the other

Just checked my protocol and I'm going to be on 450 of the menopur which is apparently 6 amps. Don't know how I'm going to cope after I struggled with the tiny burselin needle tonight

Autumn1985 · 21/02/2020 00:34

@SpyroC thanks Smile I was on slightly lower dose on my fresh cycle but used 3 amps and they got mixed with the water and were all drawn up into one needle. But was still on Buserelin on top so it was two injections a day IYSWIM?

PineappleC · 21/02/2020 08:59

With Menopur they said to me you can have up to 4 jars in one injection. Its only now I'm on 5 jars I have to do two, same sized needle 😊 I think a jar is 75...

Hopefully today's scan will the end of it!!🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

SpyroC · 21/02/2020 10:52

Thanks for the advice ladies. Hopefully no more than 2 needles then. Not sure how I'll cope on the high dose as I found letrozole bad enough 🙈.

I get you @Autumn1985 the original plan for me was the same but the buserelin injections were out of stock.

I hope the changes they've made work for you @41trying

That's sounds lovely @confused107 . I think I'll have a search for what I can get by me. The needle the nurse showed me for buserelin is the same tiny one that's been delivered for the menopur.

My jars are 75 too @PineappleC So I think mine will be 2 as well. Good luck for your scan today. X

Autumn1985 · 21/02/2020 11:52

Just caught up on reading the whole thread. Ah that makes sense @@SpyroC think I had 150 jars at some point. @confused107 yes the needles were the same for menopur and buserelin - you’ll be a pro in no time by the end of DR!

Good luck for your scan today @PineappleC

PineappleC · 21/02/2020 13:31

Well mixed results for me today. I now have 9 follicles between 12-15mm and another 11 less than 10mm. So good news in that there are more which have "taken off", but EC now Weds at the earliest (was meant to be today!) Pretty uncomfortable and knackered now, so think the next 5 days might be tough to get through, so feeling a bit crappy!! The crying newborn baby in the infertility clinic didn't really help either 😅

PineappleC · 21/02/2020 13:43

P.s. thanks @spyroc and @autumn1985 for your good lucks 😊 And @SpyroC doing two injections honestly hasn't been that much more different than one (i.e. it's not twice as bad, or twice as painful) so please don't worry xx

Hatawa83 · 21/02/2020 17:12

Very quick post as I’m still a bit drugged out after EC. Of the 6 follicles, 5 eggs. Cried like a baby when I woke up...felt like a total failure but I know from research since that less is fine so long as quality is good. When you read this please send me positive vibes. I’m really anxious about getting that call tomorrow. It’s our very last attempt so hopefully we get at least 1 embryo to transfer. Sorry if I’m not responding to anyone’s updates...a bit blurry vision and knackered but I’ll update tomorrow X

TinnedPearsForPudding · 21/02/2020 17:29

I've never understood the insensitivity of taking a baby to a fertility clinic, so cruel.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 21/02/2020 17:40

I would never take a newborn

But I did have to take DD - she's 4 a couple of times in December/January but I really did have no childcare and I always checked in advance and chose a time of day I knew would be much quieter

At one point the nurse at the fertility clinic was heavily pregnant during my treatment

ChatWithMe · 21/02/2020 18:46

Good luck for tomorrow Hatawa83 it must be nerve wrecking waiting for tomorrow afternoon. I've had that kinda feeling before too.

I've brought my son (toddler) many times to the clinic as I have no one to look after him (well I would only leave him with someone with whom he has an attachment to anyway). I always feel super guilty but I only have this time in his/my life to give him a sibling. He was the result of ivf and once there was a lady in the waiting area I spoke to who actually felt relieved to see a positive outcome to ivf. I always try to minimise the lovey dovey stuff and take him to emptier area of seats. Anyhow, I know it still sucks for those who haven't yet had a baby and desperately want one :-(

SpyroC · 21/02/2020 18:49

That's good news @PineappleC .Hang on in there.

I hope your feeling ok @Hatawa83 100% it's all about the quality. 🤞🏻 for good news tomorrow x

Youngatheart00 · 21/02/2020 19:52

Had a second scan this afternoon and I’m still responding poorly compared to
Last time despite a much higher dose. Is it possible my ovaries are still ‘fatigued’ from last autumns attempt?

Feeling fed up, current plan is a further scan at the start of next week and EC wed-fri depending on progress.

Fredsgirl19 · 22/02/2020 12:09

@Youngatheart00 keep positive and keep going. Once they get you on the right dose for a few days things will start moving and pay no attention to the average of 10 days stimms as it’s not a done size fits all and everyone is different.

Had egg collection yesterday was fine relatively easy. 8 eggs collected and call this morning from embryologist to say 5 have fertilised. Would have liked a few more but hey - only need 1!!!

PineappleC · 22/02/2020 12:16

@Hatawa83 that still sounds really good! From previous threads, it seems like those who have less eggs have better quality/higher fertilisation. Hope the same for you 😊

@Youngatheart00 I feel like we're in exactly the sane position. Its frustrating isn't it, especially having to wait over the weekend for a Monday scan! @fredsgirl19 is totally right though, everyone responds differently and there is still time. On weds I only had 2 follicles responding well, by Friday it was 9! Hope we both get some good news on Monday 😊🤞

@fredsgirl19 5 fertilised sounds like a good number! Hopefully at least a few of those will make it to transfer/freeze stage x

Embri · 22/02/2020 12:16

@Fredsgirl19 keep hope, keep everything crossed! I had my egg collection on Monday, on Tuesday I got the call that from 9 eggs, 8 were mature but only 3 had fertilised properly and were developing. I was devastated, the last few days have been horrible, I’ve been close to tears most of the time.

I had the call from the embryologist this morning and in their words we have “one beautiful blastocyst that they will be putting back in this afternoon, one very nice blastocyst that they will be freezing, and the last one hasn’t quite reached blastocyst yet so they will keep an eye on it over night and let me know tomorrow if it can be frozen.

It is hard to get such a low number fertilised but don’t give up hope!
Good luck!! Xx

Youngatheart00 · 22/02/2020 12:27

Thank you for the reassurance. I’m in the peculiar position of not wanting to feel more uncomfortable than I already am (bloated, twingy, moody and tired) but wanting even more signs it’s actually working!

@embri wonderful news about your blasts! Hope the transfer today goes well

@Fredsgirl19 pleased to hear your EC went ok, everything crossed that your 5 develop nicely

@PineappleC 9 is good - I am up to 7 as of yesterday but some are small. And only 1 on my left! Less than half the number I had last time overall so hoping for a late surge!

Hatawa83 · 22/02/2020 13:40

After a very stressful wait we got the call earlier that of 5 eggs, unfortunately only 3 were suitable for ICSI... BUT 100% fertilisation so 3x day 1 embryos. We are so relieved!!! Couldn't have hoped for a better result, all things considered. Hoping to get good news on Monday and then Wednesday...ET scheduled Wed morning!

@confused107 so glad you enjoyed reflexology! I love it and have another session on Monday that I'm very much looking forward to.

Crossing everything for you both @PineappleC, @youngatheart & @SpyroC Things can develop quickly in a few days so hopefully good results in the next scan.

@Fredsgirl19 great number. Are you due to ET Wed like me then?

@Embri fantastic results. Fingers crossed for the transfer today!

Welcome @Autumn1985 :-)

@ChatWithMe same here...I have no choice but to bring my toddler as the clinic is only open in the evenings and I have no family around to help with childcare. I don't see why I should feel bad either. I had to sit there many, many times over 7 years, while other couples brought in their kids into scans... just like I had to be happy for all my friends who were popping kids out with no difficulties when I was forced to accept the fact that I may never be a mother myself. Its life. No one brings their older child in to make other couples feel bad...trust me, its dreadful trying to get a scan done while trying keep your toddler still on the other side of the curtain! I don't think anyone would choose to bring their kid if they had a choice but I do try and get the first appointment so I rarely see more than other couple and often they are lovely and even play with my daughter so I've never been made to feel awkward.

ChatWithMe · 22/02/2020 13:47

I agree Hatawa83 good luck for Wednesday!

Hatawa83 · 22/02/2020 13:54

@ChatWithMe thank you!!! :-)
