IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

Good luck Fingersforevercrossed and natalie62663. Waiting is truly agonising! I would rather have an embryo in me than spend my Sunday drinking wine with hiccups on the sofa lol Can't with til my turn! Fingers crossed for you guys x

ChatWithMe · 16/02/2020 16:35

Wait not with!

Hatawa83 · 16/02/2020 17:48

@ValidUser lol ok I wondered 😂
@natalie62663 @Fingersforevercrossed when are you both due to test. Hope you both get great news!

natalie62663 · 16/02/2020 17:52

Hi thanks for all well wishes I had transfer on Tues the 11/2 so testing Saturday so sorry to here about your chemical that must be heart breaking x

luby89k · 16/02/2020 21:46

Hey all,

been super quiet for a few weeks because i feel as though i am in limbo. Been catching up every day with what you guys are going through. Fingers crossed for u all.

I start dr on Sunday but the hospital is so busy i actually can't get all my drugs and my main appointment on how to administer them till the Monday after. So i have to go on Friday in a nurses lunch break to get a few injections (which she will show me how to administer then) so i can start on Sunday as planned. It's annoying cause i'm stuck in this limbo and can't even discuss what drugs/ injections i am on. Im also annoying because although they want me to start Sunday i feel like i'm being rushed.

Very exciting that some of you are in your tww. Baby dust 💕

PineappleC · 16/02/2020 22:04

@hatawa83 sorry you're having a miserable time of it. Not much longer to go now though! I'm definitely starting to feel something now (day 7 stims for me) but it's not what I expected: basically feel like I've got a stitch either side of my stomach (I assume my ovaries), plus mild cramping feeling which comes and goes (almost pre-AF-like). I'm glad I'm feeling something as I was beginning to think I was doing it wrong and it wasn't working, but It's all a bit odd! First scan tomorrow too!! 🤞🤞

natalie62663 · 16/02/2020 22:57

Fingersforevercrossed thats official test day Saturday but will probably cave before then trying to hang on till Tuesday or Wednesday I got some clearblue first response or whatever the really sensitive ones... Baby dusty to all x

Fingersforevercrossed · 16/02/2020 23:26

@natalie62663 mine is Saturday too. Fingers crossed!!

I'm REALLY trying to hold out until Friday. We'll see how successful that is.

Hatawa83 · 17/02/2020 08:36

@PineappleC yes I know those feelings! I’m not too bad today. It’s really on and off. Hoping the scan this afternoon shows good development! Fingers crossed for your scan too! X

natalie62663 · 17/02/2020 09:15

@Fingersforevercrossed I'm going to be realistic I don't think I will last till Friday but I should be OK by Wednesday as my transfer was before yours... Feeling sicky this morning but really trying not to get excited x

Yorkshirehope · 17/02/2020 10:05

On Day 8 - have first scan tomorrow. Round three is a weird one as know what to expect and not sure whether a good or bad thing. Struggling to concentrate with work. Sending lots of love to those in the TWW - by far the hardest bit. Give me injections any day! ;o)

PineappleC · 17/02/2020 10:12

Thanks @Hatawa83 😊 I hope yours goes well this afternoon! 🤞
Mixed results from my scan - lining was tri-lined and 5mm, and 15 follicles growing. This is all good apparently🤷‍♀️. However, they are currently measuring about 10mm each. The nurse is talking about upping my dose to "hopefully" get to the right position for Friday. So, could have been worse, but coukd have been better. Makes sense that I haven't had many symptoms now!! 😅🤞

ValidUser · 17/02/2020 11:43

Hello all! So we confirmed that I'll start stims on day 2-3 of my late March/early April cycle. Likely EC the week of the 13th of April.

Feeling cautiously hopeful.

Another month to stay healthy and make sure my eggs are fabulous. If all goes to plan, a January baby.

Single embryo transfer only because I have a clotting disorder and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome so they don't want me having twins.

How is everyone?

Hatawa83 · 17/02/2020 12:38

Eek fingers crossed!!! @natalie62663

@Yorkshirehope I know what you mean. 3rd round for me too and the very last I’ll ever do so I know it’s going to feel long and with 3mcs in my past I’m going to need a lot of patience and positivity to get through it. Good luck Hun!

@PineappleC ohhh that’s great news. I’m sure a bit of upping the dose will sort that right out. Still time for lots of growth so crossing everything and will let you know after my scan this pm. :)

@ValidUser great that you have a confirmed schedule :) it’s always good to have that goal ahead!

ChatWithMe · 17/02/2020 13:59

Hi PineappleC my last IVF cycle resulted in an extended stimming period of like 17 days. I hadn't expected that cause the first one was only like 11/12 days of stimming. The first was a successful fresh transfer transfer 2 years before. The last one was fresh but as the stimming period went on longer my lining may not have held up sufficiently. You're planning to freeze then do FET the month after anyway right? It's just that if this time around it is another long stimming period I might ask for a freeze then FET rather than risk fresh transfer re uterine receptivity. What does everyone think??

Youngatheart00 · 17/02/2020 14:20

@chatwithme it’s good that you’re open to both options. Are you paying privately? Not sure of the cost differential. We are doing an elective freeze all this time for some logistical (non clinical) reasons.

I would hope for you that because you’ve now had a couple of experiences they will use that knowledge to adjust your drugs / dosage accordingly to reduce the extended stimming period. If I were in your shoes I’d bring up your question with the clinic and see what their best advice is - you definitely don’t want your lining to be ‘overcooked’.

ChatWithMe · 17/02/2020 15:35

Thanks Youngatheart00 this is true. Will ask about it on the 26th at my consultant IVF appointment x

SpyroC · 17/02/2020 16:03

Thanks @41trying this whole thing is waiting, waiting and more waiting isn't it.

@ValidUser great news on getting your start dates confirmed.

@PineappleC I'm glad the scan went well. Did they say when ec is likely to be?

I hope others having scans today have had good news and that everyone's getting on ok x

Embri · 17/02/2020 16:20

Glad to see everyone’s scans are going well!

Had EC today, everything went like a dream until I was given a sandwich afterwards. Threw up the 2 bites I had (note to all, do not, I repeat DO NOT choose tuna mayo....!!!) Passed out and then carried on throwing up and trying to pass out all afternoon. They gave me a bag of fluids and all anti sickness medications they could, including last resort injection in my bum.
Managed to hold it together long enough after that injection to convince them I can leave and get home (1hr45 min journey). Now at home with hot water bottle, have munched a couple of pieces of toast and feel so much better.
Not had any painkillers since 7:45am and it’s not too bad yet, but aware the fentanyl might still be in my system.

The good news is that they got 9 eggs, get a call tomorrow morning letting us know fertilisation rate so fingers crossed!!! 🤞

Vicki2411 · 17/02/2020 16:57

We are testing for a surge in March and then hopefully embryo transfer later on in March, this is our 2nd round as the first failed xxx

Youngatheart00 · 17/02/2020 17:01

@Embri wow what an ordeal Shock glad you’re home and feeling better now.

Brilliant news on the 9 eggs and fingers crossed for as many as possible fertilising!

Hatawa83 · 17/02/2020 17:13

Disappointing news for me. Scan showed half the eggs have simply vanished. Apparently this can happen as an effect of cetrocide (the second injection meant to hold off ovulation). My lining is very good so I have to wait for the results of bloods tomorrow which will show if the remaining 6 eggs are growing as they should. Then we must make a decision to abandon the round and start again on another cycle or proceed with only 6 which god knows means we may only end up with 1 if any to transfer. Feeling very angry and upset. It really feels like we had so much bad luck this past year with miscarriages and things going wrong.

Youngatheart00 · 17/02/2020 17:47

Oh @hatawa83 thats so disappointing for you, I’m so sorry. Fertility treatment really is such a rollercoaster. Stay positive for the remaining 6 and know the clinic will be doing its best for you. Take care and be kind to yourself.

ValidUser · 17/02/2020 17:54

@Hatawa83 thinking of you. Cetrotide can be cruel. X

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 17/02/2020 18:34

@embri

God that sounds awful! I've had 4 egg collections so far and perverse as it sounds really enjoyed them as it's the best sleep I get! And I've always been really naughty and driven myself home afterwards 😬 I blame the tuna mayo 🤣
