IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

Thank you both. I’ll update tomorrow once the bloods come in. I just don’t know if I have the strength to start again. Let’s see how things pan out!

Vicki2411 · 17/02/2020 19:01

@Hatawa83 thinking of you xxxx @Embri congratulations on the eggs zxxx

PineappleC · 17/02/2020 23:09

@hatawa83 really sorry to hear that and I hope that you get some good news from your blood tests xxx

@embri that sounds kinda crappy, hope you're recovering well now and great news on the eggs 😊

Because mine is going so slow they phoned me this afternoon and told me to double my dosage. Hopefully EC still on for Friday but who knows 🤷‍♀️

Embri · 18/02/2020 06:50

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted it was 100% the tuna mayo! 😂

I have a tendency to pass out at things, (and I have mini fits when I pass out due to lack of oxygen to my brain) that’s why they put me first on the list so that it reduced the time that I was nil by mouth/ gave me less time to get worked up about it.

So in a way I was proud of myself for not passing out whilst having a needle in my ovary! Everyone else having the egg collection yesterday was fine and went home within an hour or so of the procedure so I know it was just me and my annoying tendency to faint!

Feeling much better today after sleeping for almost 12 hours! 😊

@Hatawa83 hopefully the 6 eggs are good strong eggs and you can proceed!

natalie62663 · 18/02/2020 08:49

@Fingersforevercrossed well all my symptoms have disappeared I am feel really disappointed then I did a test this morning and it's definitely negative... I have some shoulder pain and cramping....

@Hatawa83 so sorry to hear you news hoping for the best for you x

Hatawa83 · 18/02/2020 09:21

Just got the call and bloods look good so going ahead for Friday but having a scan just before EC just in case things don’t look good... gives us a chance to abandon the cycle last minute. This round is going to keep us on the edge our seat at each step! Wish me luck!

Embri · 18/02/2020 09:52

We have 3 embryos from 9 eggs.
1 egg wasn’t mature.
2 developed abnormally.
1 didn’t develop at all.
2 degenerated after fertilisation.

This is low for ISCI so now I am so worried that the 3 aren’t going to make it until Saturday 😔

SpyroC · 18/02/2020 10:01

Congratulations on your 9 eggs @Embri . I am also prone to passing out and also get travel sickness which apparently increases the likelihood of vomiting. They used something different for this reason when I had my laparoscopy but said I was still likely to vomit. Fortunately I didn't. I hope you are recovering nicely x

I'm sorry to hear that @Hatawa83. So many ups and downs to this process. Im glad the 6 are looking good. I keep reading its quality over quantity so hopefully all will be good for you. Good luck for Friday. X

So sorry @natalie62663

SpyroC · 18/02/2020 10:09

Sorry @Embri (crossed posts) I really hope your 3 are strong. It only takes one. Look after yourself over the next few days. X

Youngatheart00 · 18/02/2020 11:03

Just had a really crappy first scan and had my dosage upped. My left ovary isn’t responding at all Sad

Fredsgirl19 · 18/02/2020 12:23

@youngatheart00
please don't worry. That was me last week.
I have been stimming for 2 weeks tomorrow. Egg Collection going ahead on Friday this week.
I have AMH of 25 and AFC of 28 they thought i would overstimulate so the started me on 150 of menopur and took me back in for a scan on day 6 and my ovaries had done nothing! They upped me to 225 menopur and took me on day 8 and my right had reacted a little bit but my left nothing. They said they might have to accept left won't proceed. Then on day 10 scan they had both picked up a bit so they upped me to 300 menopur and went in yesterday and have had really good progress. Ready to trigger tomorrow night after one final push on the 300 menopur to get a few more over the line.

After my day 6 and day 8 scan i cried the whole way home i was so devastated but lots can happen in a few days so don't panic - you have plenty of time for those follies to catch up!

Youngatheart00 · 18/02/2020 12:56

Oh @fredsgirl19 thank you so much for your positivity. I am so pleased for you that you responded in the end and it also gives me hope! I am back on Friday for next scan. My dose has been upped to 375IU.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 18/02/2020 13:20

@embri

I've had similar results before and was really shocked as everything I'd been told up to that point had been the great fertilisation rates with ICSI which is why I paid extra for it - my first 2 cycles I had less than 40% fertilise!

Now I've stripped my cycles right back down and only targeting a few eggs my fertilisation rate is 90%-100% but it's incredibly nerve wracking going ahead only targeting a couple of eggs in case you lose them both

Hopefully your 3 make it to day 3 - if they do you've got a good chance of getting something to transfer x

Youngatheart00 · 18/02/2020 13:22

@Embri sending super positive vibes to your 3 special little embryos x

TinnedPearsForPudding · 18/02/2020 15:54

Hi everyone, rejoining after quite a while. I had egg collection yesterday, collected 8 eggs, 7 mature & 6 fertilised with "normal" IVF overnight. Provisionally booked for D3 transfer on Thursday but may go to D5. Not sure what will influence the decision? Does anyone know?
Fingers crossed for all of your still growing your eggs, hoping tweaked medications do the trick for you x

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 18/02/2020 16:07

@TinnedPearsForPudding
I remember seeing your name before! Welcome back!

I have a mix of day 3 embryos and day 5 blastocysts frozen as its my clinic policy to have at least one day 3 in the bank. I'll be transferring after next collection as I'm doing a 3 cycle package

When I asked about the whole day 3 and day 5 thing my clinic said it was the norm until only a few years ago to transfer day 3s as the technology to culture to blastocyst wasn't as advanced so it was considered best to put them back in their natural uterine environment as soon as possible.

My clinic said they do day 3s if you only have 1 or 2 embryos and they don't want to risk not having any to transfer on day 5 if they don't make it in the lab. If they are struggling on day better to put them back in. The whole culturing to day 5 has only Come about because over the years IVF has advanced so that many people could have several embryos in the running on day 3 with no discernible difference between them so better to leave them to see which is capable of getting to day 5 and a difference in quality is more obvious

I'd imagine if you've still got all 6 going strong ok day 3 then it will be a day 5 transfer so they can select the very best 1 (or 2)

If you've only got 1 or 2 on day 3 it will most likely be a day 3 transfer and they'll probably say to put both in

PineappleC · 18/02/2020 16:47

@Youngatheart00 my dosage has been upped too!! It sounds like it's not unusual so please don't worry 😊 I don't know what the doses are but I went from 2 little jars of menopur to 4.

@fredsgirl19 thanks for your story, it's given me hope that tomorrow's scan might be totally fine!! I hope your last few days on stims go well 😊

Vicki2411 · 18/02/2020 17:39

My last few days I tripled the amount of folicles xxxx

ChatWithMe · 18/02/2020 17:43

Hi Vicki2411 What protocol and meds are you on? What caused the egg tripling??

Sabz36 · 18/02/2020 17:48

Hello everyone

I was in the jan/Feb group but due the joys of OHSS I had to freeze until this month. Transferring next week, it's becoming very real. Progesterone starting tomorrow. Not sure what to expect with that

TinnedPearsForPudding · 18/02/2020 18:03

Sorry for a TMI post....
For those of you take progesterone prior to transfer, do you take them vaginally or rectally? Mine say either but I worry about there being residual "stuff" in the vagina when they try to pass the embryo(s). What have you been advised?

Youngatheart00 · 18/02/2020 18:04

@TinnedPearsForPudding I was advised to take them rectally so as not to leave any ‘residue’ that could obstruct the ET. I actually found it fine, a little unusual to insert the first couple of times but then no issue at all.

TinnedPearsForPudding · 18/02/2020 18:11

That's what I've been doing actually. I find it more pleasant as my underwear stay clean (sorry)

Youngatheart00 · 18/02/2020 18:30

Yes I’ve heard some horror stories for those who use the alternate route 🙀

Vicki2411 · 18/02/2020 18:52

@ChatWithMe, I was on my meds back in September last year and it was just my body that did it, I was on the 2nd lowest dose of merifert(I think thats how to spell it), I went for a scan on the Friday and I had 12 folicles and then the following Weds I had 37 xxxx
