Hi, has anyone had fertility treatment here? What was their experience and success rates? Asking on behalf of a friend who is currently having treatment there for underlining gynaecology issues (fibroids/endometriosis) and she’s been referred here. She’ll be going down the route of donor sperm and possibly donor egg too because of her age (44).

Any feedback from people who have had treatment there would be great.

Thanks in advance.

@Jessica05 I think I know which one you mean.

JeanieJ · 24/08/2021 14:44

@PJ77 thanks for answering. :)

It's been 6 weeks since my last appt and referral. I feel like I won't get v far if I call them and ask for an appt to ask a few more questions.
Has anyone had any luck getting appointments in between appointments?

Jessica05 · 03/09/2021 18:49

Hi lovely,
How are you all doing?
Anyone been to any appointment yet? Is doctor Subha back from her holidays if anyone know?

Sileen · 03/09/2021 20:01

@Jessica05
Hi Jessica. I went to see her on the 24th August. She seemed very lovely but I didn't like her approach towards my needs.I felt she was rushing me towards the IVF without searching for the whys, and wasn't very convincing, using the phrases like: I don't think, I'm not sure... I am strongly thinking to go privat.

Jessica05 · 03/09/2021 22:02

@Sileen that’s true, she rushes you into things so quick…when I go to see her I always tell her about my situation first and then let her talk.
Last week I had an appointment with Dr Ganwar. OMG I really like him, his so attentive, he even went to do further check without asking him.
I so wish iv seen him before.

Did Dr Subha, told you why she want you to do IVF?

Sileen · 04/09/2021 00:10

@Jessica05
No she didn't tell me. I am not eligible for founding anymore,so think she just want the money. That's how I feel anyway.
I did see a fertility specialist last year privat who had clearly seen that my only one fallopian tube is blocked with hydrosalpinx, and he said there is no point starting the IVF before we surgically remove it as the liquid in it is toxic and makes implantation almost impossible ....etc
Dr Shuba scanned me, and said she sees some liquid here and there but she 'Doesn't Think' it's bed, it's probably is there because my period just finished, She can't see that my tubes are blocked, but she is not sure without MRI but let's do IVF. I don't need the surgery neither MRI. Just do the blood test and we can start....
I was very pissed when left....still am just thinking of it. Sorry didn't want to rant😛

Jessica05 · 05/09/2021 17:18

@Sileen

Really you are not eligible to know. I would advice you to have a check up privately to get second opinion or change hospital?
Or change doctor, I found dr G really, good, wish I had my treatment with him instead of dr subha.

@all

Did anyone had transferred or egg collection yet? How did it went?

Tillybabs · 06/09/2021 15:51

@Jessica05 I start my Gonal F injections next cycle.

Can we ask to switch Drs? I like Dr Shubha but also feel she rushes things

Jessica05 · 06/09/2021 17:53

@Tillybabs

I don’t think we can swap as Dr Subha is the main doctor for IVF… Dr G work in the gynaecologist unit, correct me if I’m wrong.

Do prepare (questions)when you go to see dr Subha or if you need extra help the nurse are available, but it depends which nurse you see.

Tillybabs · 06/09/2021 19:53

@Jessica05 ah I see. She does know her stuff and I think she just has to fit so many patients in.

Jessica05 · 06/09/2021 21:55

@Tillybabs

She does know her stuff.

But she doesn’t know her patients. If someone come to see her every week, she should have known their cases.

I hate when I goes I need to repeat myself everytimes…

PJ77 · 07/09/2021 15:43

That's interesting about the distinction between Dr Shubha and Mr G. I've only ever had Mr G who has been fab, but he is now referring me for IVF. I have a call with him next week as the one month follow up after the surgery, so I will ask him if he will continue to be my consultant for IVF at the clinic..

Jessica05 · 07/09/2021 17:31

@PJ77

The main doctor in the IVF is dr Shuba. Only whe dr Shuba is off then dr G replaced her.

I’ve always been seen by Subha, only last week was my first day with dr G, which I did really appreciate.

Tillybabs · 07/09/2021 17:51

@Jessica05 yes you are right about her not knowing her patients. I do like her though. Thanks for explaining.

PJ77 · 18/09/2021 11:14

How is everyone doing? Any updates?
I had my first period since the laparoscopy, oof! Heavy and painful! We are now booked for the clinic next week for the IVF criteria appointment with one of the nurses

Tillybabs · 18/09/2021 11:22

@PJ77 exciting times! It will move pretty quickly from here on

I start taking my gonal F injections from today and have a scan on Monday. Slightly nervous about it

PJ77 · 18/09/2021 11:28

Gosh @Tillybabs hope it all goes well! Are those injections to stimulate egg production? The thought of having to inject myself scares me a lot - tell me it's not as bad as I'm imagining!!

Jessica05 · 18/09/2021 13:50

@PJ77 @Tillybabs
Trust me the gonal f and all the injection isn’t bad at all.. the needle is quite small.

I’ve never inject myself. My husband does it for me.
I’m doing well. Still got couple of treatment to do. Then will move to the next stage.

Tillybabs · 18/09/2021 13:55

@Jessica05 thanks for the reassurance. We are at similar stages then. Glad to hear all is going well

Tillybabs · 18/09/2021 21:49

I should have added that despite them saying you can call any time, I couldn't get through to anyone all day the other day. I wasn't sure whether to class my period as day 1 as I wasn't on full flow. Anyway I ended up walking to the clinic to ask in person as wasn't sure when to start my injections. Not good.

Jessica05 · 18/09/2021 23:29

@Tillybabs did you tried to call them up directly.
Can I please check which number do you have for the clinic?

Tillybabs · 18/09/2021 23:48

@Jessica05 I've got 020 8401 3586 and 0208 401 3000 extension 4574

I tried both all day. Even tried calling the switchboard to ask for a fertility nurse which you can do at any time. Literally got no answer every time I tried.

Maybe Friday is a busy day for the hospital

Jessica05 · 19/09/2021 11:43

@Tillybabs I do have the same numbers, but always get them thru. I called them at 8.30am or after 2pm.

Do you have a nurse you like in particular?

Tillybabs · 19/09/2021 11:45

@Jessica05 I have always get thorough to them normally but typically on the one day I needed to speak to someone, I couldn't get through to anyone lol

Anna is really lovely

Jessica05 · 19/09/2021 18:10

@Tillybabs

Ok… yeah both Anna and Nana are lovely.
