Hi, has anyone had fertility treatment here? What was their experience and success rates? Asking on behalf of a friend who is currently having treatment there for underlining gynaecology issues (fibroids/endometriosis) and she’s been referred here. She’ll be going down the route of donor sperm and possibly donor egg too because of her age (44).

Any feedback from people who have had treatment there would be great.

Thanks in advance.

@Jessica05 It went well and I mentioned the hysterocopy. She said the plan is for my egg collection to be done first so they can freeze them and then deal with any issues after that. Reason being, because of my age (40) she would prefer it's done in that order.

I'm happy to be honest and she has a clear plan of what she wants to do.

So I have andomyosis. I don't want to read too much on it tbh because I've already upset myself doing so! Until I know more and the severity, then I will worry about it then. But Dr Shubha doesn't seem overly concerned about it which makes me think it's not severe.

Jessica05 · 20/08/2021 22:26

@Tillybabs Dr subha has perfectly reason, better concentrate on ur eggs collection and freeze ur eggs/embryos and have a rest and start transfer when all test is done.
Did she said when u starting?

Tillybabs · 20/08/2021 22:34

@Jessica05 yep I start from my next cycle in September. I have to book to have the injections teach in a couple of weeks first.

How did your appointment go?

I'm happy with the plan.

Jessica05 · 21/08/2021 11:38

@Tillybabs my appointment went well to waiting for my next cycle.
Hopefully all goes well.

Hi Tilly, welcome !
Girls, I need some advice!
I went today to the fertility clinic for a blood test but it wasn't open. Its only open from Monday to Friday. Dr Shuba told me to go for a blood test when my period arrives(day 1),she didn't mention that's not going to be open at the weekends... 😐I will see her on Tuesday at 12:30 for a scan, but it really made me wonder if there is a different place where they do the blood test? I remember her telling me to go to the fertility clinic whenever without appointment, but it was a month ago, I might missed something 🤔🤔

Tillybabs · 21/08/2021 12:54

@Sileen the blood tests are done in the main hospital building. It's on the first floor but it is only open Monday to Friday.

Sileen · 21/08/2021 14:11

Thank you! Guess will wait till my next period then. 🙄🙂

Tillybabs · 21/08/2021 14:27

@Sileen what was the blood test for?

Tillybabs · 21/08/2021 14:28

@Sileen sorry the reason I ask is because it might not need to be done on day 1.

Jessica05 · 21/08/2021 15:13

@Sileen can I please ask what blood test is it?
Cause when Iv done my blood test I was not on my period at all?

Sileen · 21/08/2021 16:44

So she said I have to have a day 1 blood test to see my fhs, e2 levels I think. Usually it is taken on day 2 or 3 ,not sure why she said day 1 to me. I had IVF 5 years ago and there I needed to do day 3 and day 21 blood tests to check hormon levels. I will know more on Tuesday hopefully.

Sileen · 21/08/2021 16:46

I am not sure, I had a video chat with her and she said she wants to get a day 1 blood test and her own scans to see if it's worth to go for IVF . Guess it's for hormon levels

Jessica05 · 21/08/2021 17:00

@Sileen oh no I didn’t had fhs or e2 blood test on my period at all..she didn’t said anything to me.

Sileen · 22/08/2021 17:14

That's so interesting, usually that is the first thing they check when you have fertility problems.

Jessica05 · 22/08/2021 19:05

@sileen I had the blood test on my mid cycle I think.
The blood is done to measure the fsh levels. That will determine the dosage you need for the gonal-f injection.
Call the clinic tomorrow, they open around 8.30am and asked them when the blood need to be done.
Don’t miss you chance

Sileen · 22/08/2021 20:24

For me it can wait,as first I'll need to have my right tube removed with laparoscopic surgery. 😑

Tillybabs · 22/08/2021 21:23

Sorry missed these messages. It sounds she maybe wanted to check your LH level on day 2-5 to see if you ovulated?

I've had so many blood tests I can't remember what is for what to be honest.

Jessica05 · 24/08/2021 11:03

Hi everyone,

I don’t want to be mean, don’t you think the nurses/staff at the fertility clinic (shuba) are sometimes rude and harsh

Tillybabs · 24/08/2021 11:16

@Jessica05 I haven't experienced them being rude to be honest. Dr Shubha has been quite nice but she can sometimes rush things and maybe that could be seen as rude. But generally I've had a positive experience so far

PJ77 · 24/08/2021 11:39

@Jessica05

They haven't been rude from my experience, but I have only ever visited the clinic in person once, and the nurse and Mr G were lovely, and Mr G has since been very kind and patient.
However, the general communication from the clinic for me has been pretty poor, whenever I have tried to call there is no answer, and I am normally told I have an appointment (by phone) the day before it so i have to try and drop plans or move work meetings to attend it. So my feeling is they are pretty rushed off their feet, but if you have unanswered questions I would suggest trying to be firm with them while you're there in getting to ask all your questions, and audio record your appointments (with their permission) so you can listen back and remember everything that was said, because personally when it comes to medical stuff I struggle to take it all in and fully understand it and then worry I forget important things!

PJ77 · 24/08/2021 11:48

TMI warning Grin Just as an update on my laparoscopy and hysteroscopy recovery, I'm 6 days on from the surgery, and feeling better each day. I'm able to walk around as normal and I've stopped bleeding. When I had the surgery I was on CD7 and wasn't sure how the surgery would affect my cycle and ovulation, but it seems to be on track, I have been taking the clearblue advanced digital ovulation tests and my estrogen has been high (flashing smiley face) for 3 days which means high fertility, and as soon as its a non flashing smiley face it means I've hit my LH surge , and I'm anticipating that that'll be tomorrow - just a week post surgery! Mr G said we can start trying again whenever I feel able to physically and suggested it would be fine to try to conceive this cycle, but it just feels incredibly soon Shock haha. Having googled it a lot websites are saying wait 1-2 weeks to have sex again, or at least until bleeding has stopped to reduce risk of infection. My abdominal wounds are looking OK and scabbing over.

Tillybabs · 24/08/2021 11:53

@PJ77 that's fab news about your recovery and that you are indeed ovulating.

I agree that they can seem rushed off their feet and communication could be a bit better.

Jessica05 · 24/08/2021 12:32

@Tillybabs @PJ77 Dr shuba is really patient and nice to me, so as nurse Nxxx and Axxx.

But there’s a particular nurse Mxxx she is nice but when replying to you or explaining things to you, as if she is impatient and rough.

@PJ77 That’s great news, you are lucky, ovulation kit work with you.

Smiley face never flashes with me… But Iv been advice from my father in law which is a GP, to have sex almost every two days, when I’m ovulating and to put my legs up for around 10 mins.
Try it you never know.

I’v

JeanieJ · 24/08/2021 12:49

@PJ77 - that's great news about your recovery and that you're ovulating.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you still on track for IVF with Croydon?

I'm waiting on my lap with Dr G advised I get to check/fix my right tube. He said that if I don't conceive within 3 months of the lap, we'll do IVF (he's already offered me IVF, but we decided on surgery first).
I'm getting a bit antsy about waiting so long - especially after learning about your waiting times.

xx

PJ77 · 24/08/2021 13:01

Hi @JeanieJ

That sounds pretty similar to me. I saw Mr G for scans and blood test in April where there was indication that I had endo, and he gave me the option of going for the laparoscopy first or going straight into IVF, and my preference was to have the lap, so onto the waiting list I went and 4 months on there was nothing. I called croydon gynae dept a few weeks ago to see where on the waiting list I was and they couldn't say exactly but basically that it wasn't going to be soon. So I ended up going privately with Mr G doing the surgery last week. In my follow up call with him he said he will still put me onto the IVF with Croydon and is booking me in to get that process started (a funding appointment I believe), but in the meantime still try to conceive naturally over the next couple of months to see if surgery helped.
