Hi, has anyone had fertility treatment here? What was their experience and success rates? Asking on behalf of a friend who is currently having treatment there for underlining gynaecology issues (fibroids/endometriosis) and she’s been referred here. She’ll be going down the route of donor sperm and possibly donor egg too because of her age (44).

Any feedback from people who have had treatment there would be great.

Thanks in advance.

@PJ77 Ok. 4bb is among the best embryo. I wonder why they have transferred 2bb on the fresh one. Did they told you why?

PJ77 · 24/02/2022 19:08

@Jessica05 that's good to know! I think it must have been because it was a day 6 one so when I rocked up on day 5 they only had one to transfer that day while this other one was just looking promising at that stage.

Hello everyone, after originally believing I was going to need a laproscopy to confirm whether I had endometriosis or not due to low Amh they have decided to refer us for IVF.

is anyone able to give a rough idea of how long they waited for IVF through Croydon and what the rough timeline was? We have been waiting a long time just to get to this point (isn't everything in fertility journey about waiting? Confused) so would be really grateful to know roughly how long we can expect to wait!

Thank you

Hello everyone
If I could jump in - I've just been referred to a gynecologist at Croydon University Hospital, my St video appointment is on the 19th July.. Very early days for me and a long wait ahead but I'll reading with interest about your experience, good luck to all!
I've only had FSH on cd 2 done, it's 22 units and that's quite bad I know. I'm 38, turning 39 in July.. Did not expect to be in early menopause.. Trying for a first child..
But trying to stay positive of course, I don't have the other test results yet, it seems I'll be waiting half year for AMH and antral follicle count..

Redcobra · 11/04/2022 12:19

Hi @Hannah3313 I had endo excision laparoscopy in October and I'll be starting IVF next month with Croydon. I called for an update in march after hearing nothing for a while and they got things moving. So that was roughly a 6 month wait.
@Summerishere83 have you tried taking supplements to prepare for IVF? I'm currently taking Proceive Max Women, omega-3 oil and coenzyme q10 to regulate hormone levels and improve egg quality. Fingers crossed it helps the process but so far I feel healthier and more energised.

Summerishere83 · 11/04/2022 14:43

Hi @Redcobra

Please let us know how the treatment goes.
I am taking just iron, folic acid and vitamin D for now, eating fruits and veg too so hopefully that's enough for now...thanks for the heads up though!
Btw what are your hormone levels and follicle count if you don't mind?
I have a scan booked privately for tomorrow, hoping follicle count looks better than my FSH suggests. And I can't wait 6 months at least to find that out!

Redcobra · 11/04/2022 15:24

@Summerishere83 All the supplements you're taking should help. My hormone levels are within normal range and my last AMH was on the lower end of the normal range for my age. I worry that I won't get enough high quality eggs but I'm trying to stay positive.

Summerishere83 · 11/04/2022 16:37

@Redcobra
It's exciting you're starting the IVF already!
I guess if they collect enough eggs which you probably have then some will be good quality and will make nice embryos to transfer :)
What is your follicle count? Now that you're starting you'll be monitored closely so all should be fine, good luck!

Hannah3313 · 11/04/2022 16:39

Thank you so much for your response @Redcobra. I'm having such difficulty getting in contact with them. Does anyone have a telephone number that is answered by anyone or have you just been leaving voicemails? Thank you!!!

Redcobra · 11/04/2022 16:51

@Summerishere83 I actually don't know my follicle count but I have an appointment in a couple of weeks so I guess I'll find out then.
@Hannah3313 I kept leaving voicemails and sending emails. They've responded to my emails within a day. I called these numbers:

020 8401 3586
020 8401 3983
[email protected]

Hopefully you'll hear from them soon.

Steph1994 · 11/04/2022 17:01

Hi everyone. So lovely to hear everyone’s journey and know that there are lots of other people going through the same thing! I was suppose to start my treatment last month but tested positive for covid on the cycle day 1 ☹️ I am now waiting for my next cycle. I am trying to work out when my stims scans will fall, does anyone know if these are just done during the week or will they do them on the weekend too if that fall on the right days? Thanks in advance!

Summerishere83 · 12/04/2022 22:13

Hi ladies
Is it normal to have endometrial thickness of 10mm on cycle day 2, ie during menstruation? Has anyone discussed this with you during antral follicular count scan?

Jessica05 · 22/04/2022 22:48

Hi all, does any have dr G’s (Gajewar) contact details please?

JeanieJ · 03/05/2022 13:12

Hiya,
Do we have any success in this thread for treatment?
I was just about to start IVF in March, but got my first positive test. Unfortunately I miscarried at 11 weeks and there was little remaining, so I had a D&C 😢.
Spoke to fertility nurse at the clinicand she recommended I wait 2-3 periods before starting IVF ... which is fine because I'm still emotionally healing from the miscarriage, so I'll probably start in August/September.
I'd love to know if anyone has had good luck here, especially after a D&C.
Xx

Tillybabs · 11/05/2022 21:11

@JeanieJ welcome! I've been to recent appointments and heard the women in before me who were pregnant and they were being early scanned (yes I could hear everything lol) so they definitely do have some success.

Has everyone here only dealt with Dr Shubha? If we wanted to, could we request to be under the care of another consultant?

Jessica05 · 14/05/2022 23:09

@Tillybabs i think dr Shuba is the only consultant for ivf.
there is some successful stories.

Tillybabs · 19/05/2022 13:56

@Jessica05 how are things with you?

Jessica05 · 19/05/2022 14:12

@Tillybabs i’m good. Just doing couple of follow up. N u?

Tillybabs · 19/05/2022 14:17

@Jessica05 I'm good I will be starting a modified downreg for 3 months on my next cycle. No transfer tried yet.

Kelly986 · 19/05/2022 21:51

Hi ladies,

I wanted to share with you my story. I was referred to croydon clinic July 20, I had numerous stomach surgeries as a child and had adhesions and a blocked tube. Tube was removed by Mr Gangewar in Oct 20, due to the adhesions he suspected it would be hard to conceive naturally so straight to IVF.
Started in March/April 21
Egg retrieval in May: 18 eggs, 9 fertilised, 4 made it to day 4/5 1 x 4ab 3 x 4bb
Had mild OHSS so couldn't fresh transfer
Frozen transfer in July 21 of my 4ab
Currently holding her in my arms right now - she is 8 weeks :-)
3 x 4bb frozen for next time
So a first time success for me. I found the whole process really straight forward, of course it is emotionally challenging but I found the nurses and Dr Shiba really amazing and supportive once the IVF started. I feel so so lucky
Best of luck xx

juliettefreire · 23/05/2022 17:14

Hi everyone!
First time posting here... I have been TTC for 2 years and finally been referred. I received the letter with an appointment date for August and this is via video.

Is anyone able to shed some light on what this will be about and the wait after this to start treatments?

thank you 😊

Tillybabs · 23/05/2022 21:07

@Kelly986 thanks for sharing and congratulations that's amazing. Did they operate on your adhesions?

@juliettefreire welcome! The first video call is just a chat where they will ask about your history etc. They will then plan your next steps which are usually blood tests and a scan etc. Your OH will have to give a sperm sample as well but all this will be explained on your call.

juliettefreire · 24/05/2022 10:37

Thank you for the reply @Tillybabs
we already did bloods and sperm analysis with the doctor. Will we need to repeat these?

I just wondered if anyone could tell me timeframes from that first video appointment until treatments start. I am in between changing jobs which is tricky so wanted to try to plan or judge what I can say/do....

Tillybabs · 24/05/2022 11:23

@juliettefreire so we had our first appointment in May 2021 which was the video call. This is when they will confirm if they will refer you for IVF or not. Have you had your AMH blood test done for ovarian reserve?

In July we had our eligibility appointment. We had to go in, be weighed etc. Got asked questions and had to sign forms. Then if they say yes they have to send off the forms and you then wait for funding.

Leading up to this I had a HSG and scans and other blood tests taken. We then started the process in September. I've had my eggs collected and embryos frozen and then had to wait for other procedures for further investigations.

Timing really depends on what they find etc.

@JeanieJ how are you doing? Sorry my brain is frazzled and I was meant to say welcome back and sorry about your loss. I think I've messaged you in another thread previously but I hope you're doing ok.

juliettefreire · 24/05/2022 12:49

Thanks so much for the kind reply @Tillybabs
I am not sure if I have had the AMH blood check to be honest. I think it was just the normal progesterone levels and other things like that. My GP didn't do any others; interesting if he should have.

Really appreciate you giving me a timeframe!

Babydust to you 💙
