Hi, has anyone had fertility treatment here? What was their experience and success rates? Asking on behalf of a friend who is currently having treatment there for underlining gynaecology issues (fibroids/endometriosis) and she’s been referred here. She’ll be going down the route of donor sperm and possibly donor egg too because of her age (44).

Any feedback from people who have had treatment there would be great.

Thanks in advance.

@PJ77 I had a very good experience with Gonal F too, it was easy peasy. But found the second 1 annoying

JeanieJ · 10/01/2022 18:50

Hey guys!
How is everyone?
I had my IVF funding appointment today ... anyone know how long a decision takes and what happens if it gets rejected?
Nurse didn't have an answer, she just said be prepared to start treatment in the next 18-20 weeks 🤷🏻
Super confused.
Also, has anyone had a sperm dna frag test?
Xx

PJ77 · 10/01/2022 19:12

Hi @JeanieJ! I was also at the clinic today getting scanned!
18-20 weeks sounds a very long time? We had funding appt in Sept then got approval early Nov, got booked in for IVF long chat pretty quickly but couldn't start IVF until this month due to them being closed over Christmas!

JeanieJ · 10/01/2022 19:20

Thanks @PJ77 🙂
Yeah, I think she was just giving me the longest timeframe with when treatment could actually start, but Not clear on funding. Sounds like maybe you waited 4-6 weeks for a decision?
I'm ok with it being taking a bit of time as I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything 🤯
I felt kinda rushed through the forms, so I hope I filled it in correctly 🤞🏻
How are you doing with your cycle?
X

PJ77 · 10/01/2022 19:44

Yeah that sounds about right! It is a lot to take in and I found it overwhelming so I agree with you on that! That's a shame you felt rushed, they did seem very busy today. We had to wait a very long time to be seen!
The cycle is going well so far (touch wood!), been doing the gonal f injections and starting on cetrotide tonight!

JeanieJ · 10/01/2022 19:51

@PJ77 they were so busy today! I've never seen so many people in the clinic 😂
I really hope the cycle goes well for you! 🤞🏻
Are you taking any time off work?

PJ77 · 10/01/2022 22:12

@JeanieJ thank you!!
I get a few days special leave for fertility treatments from work so splitting those up to come to the afternoon scans and I'll probably use a couple days when it comes to egg collection and recovery if I need it. Then I'm thinking of using my normal annual leave and taking off a week or even two weeks after embryo transfer (hoping we get to that stage!). I'm a bit of a stresshead so doing everything I can to stay calm haha

JeanieJ · 11/01/2022 09:55

@PJ77 awww that's great you can flexible with work.
I'm already stressed about the whole thing. Last night i was fretting that I filled the forms in wrong and was worried they would reject our funding application 😐 the nurse wasn't having any of our questions! She was friendly, but busy, so didn't want to talk much.
I'm just gonna have to sit tight for a while & hope it goes through or I just conceive naturally by some miracle.
🤞🏻

Jessica05 · 12/01/2022 22:10

Hi all,

I hope you all well, and your treatment is going ok.
Is anyone doing IVF at Croydon by private funding?

PJ77 · 19/01/2022 07:41

How's everyone getting on? I had my egg collection yesterday at the London Womens Clinic, and my husband also did his bit Wink it's a beautiful clinic and they were so lovely. Will hear today about how many fertilised, keeping everything crossed.

JeanieJ · 19/01/2022 08:13

@PJ77 aww, so exciting ☺️ I hope it went well 🤞🏻
Does everything happen at the womens clinic? Is it Harley Street?

I'm ok - last week we had our funding appt and I was really confused & the nurse didn't give us answers to some of our questions.

Luckily I had a post op appt with Dr G yesterday and he answered some & said he'd check/ get her to check my forms to see if they were done correctly, so I'm waiting for someone to call me. Apparently there was a permission to do ICSI tick box that I didn't know about 🤷🏻

PJ77 · 19/01/2022 08:22

@JeanieJ ah I like Dr G, he's very nice and patient!
The London Womens Clinic have the lab to do all the egg and embryo stuff (not a technical term Grin) so you go there for the egg collection and embryo transfer. And yeah it's Harley Street. I was very well looked after!

JeanieJ · 19/01/2022 08:45

@PJ77 great - I just looked it up - looks much nicer than the prefab at Croydon 😂
Fingers crossed you get a nice batch 🤞🏻🤞🏻 you must be nervous/excited!

PJ77 · 19/01/2022 10:28

Well I had the call from the embryologist and out of my 10 eggs, 8 of them were mature enough, and 3 of them have fertilised successfully. The rest of them fertilised abnormally! 3 lower than I was hoping for, but she seemed to still be positive and I'm booked in for the embryo transfer on Sunday. She said she would expect half of the embryos to make it to that stage so we are hoping for one or two and crossing everything that they survive. If we don't hear anything before Sunday we are to assume everything is okay and going ahead. If my phone rings now in the next 4 days I'll be sent into a panic attack probably Grin

Jessica05 · 19/01/2022 13:39

@PJ77 awww so exciting and very well done.
Are you getting ready to do the transfer on Sunday, done the baseline scan?

Has anyone done their booster dose?

PJ77 · 19/01/2022 13:47

Thanks @Jessica05! I'm booked in for the transfer on Sunday, I don't believe I'll be having any more scans. I feel like I've been scanned enough haha. Have started on the progesterone pessaries as of last night, was told to do them in the back passage and it's been easier than expected!

PJ77 · 19/01/2022 13:48

@Jessica05 by booster are you talking about covid jab? I had mine in Dec x

Jessica05 · 19/01/2022 22:05

@PJ77 that’s good, I thought you need to check your baseline before transfer, I might be mistaken.
Can I please check which pessaries you are using?

PJ77 · 19/01/2022 22:11

@Jessica05 ah right. I'm on cyclogest pessaries, twice a day!

PJ77 · 23/01/2022 17:29

I went ahead with my embryo transfer today Smile and there is a second blastocyst that is looking good but is slightly behind in growth, but she thinks it will get there tomorrow and can still be frozen! The third one didn't survive.
Again, they were so lovely at the London Womens Clinic, was a very pleasant experience for the most part haha

JeanieJ · 23/01/2022 18:39

@PJ77 nice one 😌 that's good news you did the transfer!
Hope the tww goes by quickly!

Jessica05 · 23/01/2022 19:03

@PJ77 that’s really good news, did they told you the grade of the embryo?

Hope the two weeks wait goes well.

Tillybabs · 01/02/2022 09:09

Hello

How is everyone doing? I've been quiet as having my hysterocopy this month privately so not much has been happening for me.

Has anyone successfully got hold of the clinic recently?

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 01/02/2022 12:05

Hi Tillybabs, hope that goes well . Managed to speak to some earlier.
Any ideas on how to naturally improve low ovarian reserve anyone? Clutching at straws.

JeanieJ · 01/02/2022 13:47

@Tillybabs 😌 hope the procedure goes well 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
All quiet on my end as I did the IVF funding application at the beginning of Jan ... trying put it out of my mind, but not doing a great job ⏰
I've recovered well from my lap, but am 2 cycles down since I had it & no success ... was really hoping it would increase my chances like they say could happen, but hey ho 🤷🏻
