Hi, has anyone had fertility treatment here? What was their experience and success rates? Asking on behalf of a friend who is currently having treatment there for underlining gynaecology issues (fibroids/endometriosis) and she’s been referred here. She’ll be going down the route of donor sperm and possibly donor egg too because of her age (44).

Any feedback from people who have had treatment there would be great.

Thanks in advance.

@Tillybabs oh no! 😢
I hope it's not too expensive for you xx

Jessica05 · 30/10/2021 22:17

Hi girls, is there any success story with in us?

Orlane · 02/11/2021 09:23

Ladies, I finally had my Lap. I have been waiting since April!! I received a call on Thursday telling me there was a cancellation for the following Monday, so I jumped on it. Dr G did the operation and everything went well. A bit tough the next day but nothing I can't handle without Ibuprofen. Fingers crossed for those who are still waiting.

JeanieJ · 05/11/2021 09:23

@Orlane that's amazing news!
Hope you recover well! 💓🤞

Tillybabs · 08/11/2021 22:26

@Orlane that's fab news!

Tillybabs · 08/11/2021 22:27

@Jessica05 not yet hun. Still waiting on my MRI and hysterocopy but I'm not giving up hope.

Tillybabs · 08/11/2021 22:27

How is everyone doing? I hope everyone is ok x

JeanieJ · 09/11/2021 10:21

Hey @Tillybabs,

I'm ok ... I'm waiting on AF so I can book in my laprascopy - I've decided to go private.
It's due at the end of this week ... I have PMS symptoms, so feel like I should sack it in, but the hopeful part of me is still holding on lol!

Did you book in your hysterscopy?

Is the normally a big wait between EC and transfer if you didn't have to have this procedure? I'm not v clued up on the IVF process.

xx

Tillybabs · 09/11/2021 10:33

@JeanieJ they were considering a fresh transfer but my ovaries were too enlarged after EC so the clinic said they would freeze embryos instead. But when I went to Croydon they weren't happy with my lining anyway and referred me to gynae.

I'm covered with my medical insurance through work which is really good. I will get an appointment in the next few weeks and then have my MRI early December. After that they will decide on a plan and if I need surgery or treatment. Praying for the latter tbh at the worst

PJ77 · 09/11/2021 10:35

Hello ladies. @Orlane that's great news that you finally had your lap with Dr G, hope you are recovering well.
We finally had IVF funding confirmed and booked in for tomorrow for the long IVF chat appointment. Going to bring a notebook with me I think and prepare with questions!

Orlane · 09/11/2021 10:40

Thanks all.
@PJ77 we have started the funding, and the nurse told us it would take up to 18 weeks to get a reply! What is the same timeframe for you? Glad to know you have been approved for funding! Such a relief

PJ77 · 09/11/2021 10:46

@Orlane 18 weeks! Gosh. No it took about 7 weeks and once we got the call we got booked in straight away for the long IVF chat. I've no idea how soon afterwards we will actually be able to start IVF itself but taking each step at a time. But fingers crossed you don't have to wait long for confirmation x

Tillybabs · 09/11/2021 10:53

@PJ77 @Orlane I'm quite surprised by those times frames.
I literally waited a couple weeks max after getting funding for our appointments to start.

JeanieJ · 09/11/2021 10:56

@Orlane whoah what a long wait?

Has anyone on this chat had success with their lap? Dr G says this is my best chance of conceiving naturally ... but I'm only seeing most people move onto IVF ... could be the mumsnet bubble though.

xx

PJ77 · 09/11/2021 11:33

@JeanieJ so I've had 3 periods now since my lap in August, my hopes were so high that I would conceive naturally in that time. We will get another couple of bashes at it (so to speak!) before IVF starts and I'm still hopeful. It's such a numbers game. Trying my hardest every month to stay positive x

Jessica05 · 09/11/2021 11:53

@PJ77 @Orlane I'm also quite surprised by the long time frames.

I literally waited only a couple weeks max.
Then got a call from the clinic to come for the long chat.
Thereafter when I start my period, I started egg stimulation.

JeanieJ · 09/11/2021 12:02

@PJ77 - yeah ... Dr G said to give it about 3 months after too. I agree it's a numbers game - such a nightmare. There must be people who conceive after the lap, why else would he be so positive about it? (Sometimes I think Dr G is too positive though haha).

@Jessica05 have you had your embryo transfer yet? When did you do your EC?

xx

Jessica05 · 09/11/2021 12:21

@JeanieJ I haven’t had my transfer yet, waiting to do couple of more test (My in law is a doctor, and he want me to do couple of test, to be on the sage side).

PJ77 · 09/11/2021 14:51

@JeanieJ I think the surgery can definitely help some people, although not from Croydon clinic my friend had the surgery and fell pregnant the following month! Which is also why my hopes were so high as well. But I also knew the surgery was important to do anyway before IVF to see everything that's going on down there!
Sending lots of positive thoughts to everyone. Christmas is a bit difficult I find being around other family members with babies and children and as much as I love them all I feel reminded of my own situation.

Tillybabs · 09/11/2021 15:40

@PJ77 it's funny how life works out. Last year I was sure I would be pregnant before Xmas and a year later and still nothing! I hope you are ok too x

JeanieJ · 09/11/2021 15:45

@PJ77 - thanks :) that gives me some kind of hope.

This Christmas, we're actually spending it by ourselves. We usually go home to family, but there's been so many births this year, plus my family have been super dismissive and insensitive about our situation that we've decided to protect our mental health and have a quiet one.

Hope everyone else is ok too

xx

Orlane · 09/11/2021 16:16

@Tillybabs and @PJ77
Same here, Christmas is definitely a tough time!!
And family can be really insensitive… I am tired of being heard «it’s in your head»

JeanieJ · 09/11/2021 19:27

@Orlane - I get that 'all in your head / too stressed / need to think positive' any time I speak to my family 🙄

They live in a different country, so I'm sometimes grateful for the distance.

xx

Redcobra · 13/11/2021 16:46

@PJ77 That's brilliant news about the funding! I had a telephone appointment with fertility this week and I'm booked in next week for a scan of my ovaries (after surgery) & then we start the application for funding.

Dr G said it should get started before Christmas (when things slow down) so fingers crossed everything moves quickly from now on.

PJ77 · 13/11/2021 17:14

@Redcobra that's exciting!

We had the long IVF chat appointment last week where a nurse went over the whole process with us and I had another blood test and scan. We are due to officially start IVF in January! Apparently the egg collection happens at the London women's clinic in Harley St and they close at Christmas which is why we can't start IVF in December. Cannot wait to get started although I must say I felt very overwhelmed hearing everything that is involved. Will all be worth it I hope x
