5 eggs from retrieval :(

Anyone had any luck with small number of eggs from retrieval ?!

I only got 6 out, and 4 fertilised. Had 2 put back in, convinced 1 would stick if I was lucky, DTs are now 19 months old.

I found it devastating whilst going through ivf to discover I have low ovarian reserve, and that I needed extra stims, and that I’d get next to no eggs out compared to what I’d read on google! It all seems to boil down to quality not quantity though.

Good luck!

FizzyC · 20/09/2019 09:08

@MuchTooTired your story is lovely. I also have low ovarian reserve and an Antral follicle count of 5. Dr started me on the highest dose of stimms and always seemed quite pessimistic about my chances. We were lucky to get 3 eggs because any less and we would lose our funding for a 2nd try. 3 eggs have fertilised so hoping I won't need another go though.

@Lrv1987 & @Ailsnics how are you both getting on? I'm going in for embryo transfer this afternoon. All 3 embryos are still growing but there is a front runner. They will keep watching the other 2 incase they catch up and can be frozen.

Lrv1987 · 21/09/2019 09:29

@FizzyC that's amazing! Good luck! My transfer is tomorrow- still got 4 growing which I'm really pleased with! Hoping I can freeze three tomorrow
Let me know how it goes. Got everything crossed for you zzz

@FizzyC amazing news! Good luck for the transfer and let us know how you get on.
Mine all failed; only one was looking viable yesterday but overnight had stalled so onto the next cycle for me.

Lrv1987 · 21/09/2019 10:27

@Ailsnics I'm so sorry to hear that. Xxx

@Ailsnics I'm so sorry. Good that you are feeling positive about next time. Are you going to do something nice this weekend? - our back up plan is lots of nice wine and a weekend away if it doesn't work this time. xx

@FizzyC how you doing?

OP posts:
FizzyC · 25/09/2019 15:44

@Lrv1987 I'm ok thanks, trying to keep busy and not become obsessed with symptom spotting. We did get engaged yesterday which was lovely 💖 The progesterone medication is making me so tired all the time. How are you doing?

Lrv1987 · 25/09/2019 15:48

@FizzyC - also obsessing over symptoms- cramps and bleeding :/
Congratulations on your engagement ! That's amazing! Something lovely to focus on.
I was feeling tired all the time- wondered what that was- guess it's the progesterone- can't wait for those to be over ! X

FizzyC · 25/09/2019 16:09

@Lrv1987 I haven't had any bleeding, just mild cramps, tiredness and heartburn. Could it be implantation bleeding? I hope so 🤞🤞

Lrv1987 · 25/09/2019 16:18

@FizzyC that's what I'm hoping for

Hi ladies; I had 4 retrieved yesterday and 2 fertilised - transfer Tuesday. So fingers crossed they grow nicely over the weekend and make it to blasts. Nervous waiting game isn’t it!

Lrv1987 · 27/09/2019 10:26

@GreyC it really is! Good luck! Hope it all goes well for you xxx

OP posts:
FizzyC · 27/09/2019 19:33

@GreyC It sure is and the 2ww feels such a long time. Is this your first round of IVF? It's hard going!

@Lrv1987 How are you getting on? Still over a week until test day 🙈

Lrv1987 · 27/09/2019 19:37

@FizzyC I'm okay- how are you doing? I need to stop googling things and invent a time machine to move forward a week 😂
Still having the odd pain- no more bleeding though.
You getting any side effects from the progesterone? Xxx

OP posts:
GreyC · 27/09/2019 19:37

Yes first ivf cycle - feel ok after retrieval. Barely any pain but I have awful heartburn haha! Although; I had some spicy food last night for dinner haha

FizzyC · 27/09/2019 20:18

@Lrv1987 I went back to work yesterday and it felt good to get back into a normal routine. The only side effects I've had is heartburn, sore boobs and some cramping. Probably all because of the progesterone.

FizzyC · 27/09/2019 20:21

@GreyC I've had crazy heartburn/reflux since my embryo transfer, especially in the morning and when I lie down at bedtime. I think it must be the progesterone

GreyC · 27/09/2019 20:24

I start progesterone tomorrow; wasn’t sure if I’m still abit bloated from egg retrieval and it’s making me all acidic. It goes away if I take a anti-acid so that is a relief as I had to take something it was so bad. I feel so proud of my body though; went through the injections with barely any side effects grew 5 gets follicles 4 eggs and 2 fertilised. All this; a minor procedure and barely any pain apart from abit of bloating and heart burn. Love my body!
