@Sylva123 our hospital had a similar policy just for the first month to make sure you didn’t overstimulate, they were basically checking you didn’t have like 6 eggs cooking in which case they might tell you not to have sex that month but it’s flawed because they did it for me at the lowest dose, no eggs, so they doubled then tripled the dose with no other scans so for all they know I could have a trillion eggs each month 🤷🏽‍♀️

Sylva123 · 26/10/2019 13:15

@goingbacktokansascity oh my goodness, yes I hadn't thought of that. They're only monitoring my first cycle as well and then I'm on my own til my next appt in February! So glad this forum exists x

Goingbacktokansascity · 26/10/2019 13:20

@sylva123 I think monitoring should be compulsory, I read a case report last week of a woman who got pregnant with sextuplets on these drugs 😭

Chichz · 26/10/2019 14:27

How scary! Haha. X

doomkittycleo · 26/10/2019 20:12

Hi all, just an update, I had my IVF egg collection today and got 12 eggs. I’ll be getting a call in the morning to see how many were mature and how many fertilised.

I’ll update you when we know more.

Goingbacktokansascity · 26/10/2019 21:05

@doomkittycleo amazing! What a good start. Everything crossed for you x

doomkittycleo · 26/10/2019 22:27

@Goingbacktokansascity thanks hun.

seven201 · 27/10/2019 07:59

@doomkittycleo yay that sounds excellent. A good number. Everything crossed for you. How are you feeling?

doomkittycleo · 27/10/2019 08:06

@seven201, pretty good, a bit of what I can only describe as being like period pains and a bit tired, but other than that I feel fine.

The embryology lab should call between 8 and 11 to let me know how everything is going.

Chichz · 27/10/2019 09:40

@doomkittycleo Super news! You'll have to try to relax as much as possible now. Grin

doomkittycleo · 27/10/2019 09:50

Just got the call, of the 12 collected 11 were mature and 10 have fertilised. (Does happy dance 💃🤞😮👍😃).

All being well we’re looking at Blastocyst transfer on Thursday.

Goingbacktokansascity · 27/10/2019 10:06

@doomkittycleo you have made my day I’m doing a happy dance for you!!! This is fantastic xxx

Goingbacktokansascity · 27/10/2019 10:07

Who is CD twinning with me this time? Day 4?

DobbieFreeElf · 27/10/2019 10:56

That's great @doomkittycleo

I'm a few days behind @Goingbacktokansascity, had really bad period pains in the night and woke up to an actual period rather than the spotting I've had since Tuesday so I'll count this as cd1 (also exactly 2 weeks since last +ve opk)

@seven201 when booking our initial consultation the receptionist said it's usually 6-8 weeks from initial consultation to treatment and that it has to be done within 3 months. We'll be away from 24 nov to the new year so I'm hoping this will be something we can start as soon as we arrive home. Still going to go to the gp to ask for progesterone to try this month as spotting from cd24 is crap

Goingbacktokansascity · 27/10/2019 11:11

I genuinely can’t believe I had a 24 day cycle this month its so bonkers but definitely a light period and not anything else. I’m booking a scan this cycle day 10 I think to give us an idea of what’s going on

doomkittycleo · 27/10/2019 13:42

@Goingbacktokansascity that’s what happened to me, when on clomid I had one cycle that was 20 days (I sh!t you not).

Turns out the clomid worked too well, hence having too many follicles and then developing several cysts as none of them were being released (just kept growing).

Going for scans privately was definitely the best decision I could’ve made as I could’ve made things a lot worse if I’d carried in with clomid even longer.

doomkittycleo · 27/10/2019 13:56

@seven201 and @DobbieFreeElf how long it takes from initial consultation to IVF depends on what tests you have already had.

You need a semen analysis, hycosy scan, AMH test, and the same blood tests you needed for clomid.

We’d had almost everything else done already via GP and when TTC DD1.

The only thing we needed to start was the screening tests for infectious diseases ie chlamydia, HIV and Hepatitis etc. Once all of those were back we were able to start the very next cycle.

Then it depends if they want you to do long or short protocol as to how long it takes to get from af to egg collection phase.

Goingbacktokansascity · 27/10/2019 15:33

@doomkittycleo did you ovulate? I’m wondering since this cycle was 24 days and I got two positive OPK one day 9 and one day 13 which one was right!!
Hopefully a scan should make the difference in reassuring me this month, I know I don’t make any cysts as I’ve been scanned before and only ever released one or two eggs each month. Really hoping this is the month (for us all) and I can put this behind me and chill

seven201 · 27/10/2019 17:48

@doomkittycleo that's such an excellent result, you must be over the moon!

I've had all of the tests, it's just some are quite old now (over a year and a half) so I think we'll need to repeat some. Will try and get the gp to do them so we don't have to pay!

seven201 · 27/10/2019 17:49

@DobbieFreeElf I'm glad you've got your 'proper' period now. Good luck with your gp visit. Will be good to start the ivf after a lovely long holiday.

doomkittycleo · 27/10/2019 22:50

@Goingbacktokansascity, on one cycle I did ovulate, but on the following 2 cycles I didn’t ovulate (despite getting a positive opk). I only know this due to the private clinic doing extra scans for me. My follicles just kept growing and growing to 30mm and none actually released. I continued to get new cysts for the next couple of months after stopping clomid and had pain during BD (hence getting an nhs scan too). I was surprised it took so long for the effects of the clomid to wear off fully.

I definitely wouldn’t take getting a positive opk as a guarantee that you did ovulate.

Goingbacktokansascity · 28/10/2019 06:16

@doomkittycleo yeah definitely not, they were happy with the day 21 bloods showing ovulation and they only monitor first cycle here.
It seems you’re such a great responder which is why the IVF has gone so well!

BinkyB4 · 28/10/2019 07:05

@doomkittycleo wow that’s an amazing number! Fingers crossed everything else goes as well! X

doomkittycleo · 28/10/2019 10:45

Excellent news, all 10 embryos have divided and we have 3 grade 1 4 cell embryos, 5 grade 2’s, 1 grade 3 and 2 grade 2, 3 cell embryos (I think that’s what she said).

I’m so chuffed, plan is to do a day 5 blastocyst transfer on Thursday.

BinkyB4 · 28/10/2019 10:55

That’s fab news @doomkittycleo!!
