@Goingbacktokansascity I was just having a slightly insane moment. Normal service resumed now!

Good luck for this cycle!

LaurenN23 · 25/10/2019 09:00

Hi everyone, just after a bit of reassurance. I'm 8DPO today, had my progesterone blood test yesterday so waiting for the results.

The last couple of days I've felt really down and tearful, because this is the first time I've ever ovulated I'm really scared that if I haven't caught this month, what if It was just a fluke and I don't ovulate again? I feel so crappy about it and feel like I'm putting pressure on myself but can't help it! Hope everyone else is okay xx

DobbieFreeElf · 25/10/2019 09:25

Try not to put too much pressure on yourself @LaurenN23 even with ovulation the chance of conceiving is low, if it worked once it will work again. There really is nothing more you can control so try not to put too much pressure on yourself

@seven201 up days and down days! I try to have more up than down! Not always easy!

@Goingbacktokansascity back on the pills then!

My period has disappeared, went to empty my cup last night (after a whole day) and nothing in it. Didn't wear it over night, nothing in pants or on wiping, and still nothing now. Hopefully that wasn't my full lining or I really am fooked!

seven201 · 25/10/2019 11:05

@DobbieFreeElf Hmmmn that's weird. Doesn't necessarily mean anything's wrong though. So annoying just not knowing!

@LaurenN23 I think if it's made you ovulate once it shouldn't have any problems doing so again. Try and find something to help you clear your head a bit. I used to use a meditation app and go for walks or jogs. I need to start doing something like that again.

Chichz · 25/10/2019 11:36

About to have my 4th Clomid tablet (1st round) and so far seem to be miraculously headache free! Probably helps that I'm on half-term haha. Definitely got some of the fabled night sweats though - has anyone also had really vivid dreams when taking it? X

Goingbacktokansascity · 25/10/2019 12:32

I have hugely vivid dreams. Sort of dreading this month again just because the headaches are so debilitating. Gonna get a huge positive this month though

Chichz · 25/10/2019 13:07

@Goingbacktokansascity I'm sure of it too - positive vibes for you!

Glad I'm not the only one with the dreams. Hoping the lack of headaches isn't a bad sign, but also trying not to obsess over it too much the first month - even going to try resist using OPKs haha.

Paige911231 · 25/10/2019 14:44

Hi Everyone.

I've just picked up my clomid tablets ready to start next cycle. Relived that I finally have them as its been a long time coming...

Is anyone else starting in November? Sending positive vibes to you all!

DobbieFreeElf · 25/10/2019 14:56

@chichz, I don't get headaches or any other specific symptoms, but I do have vivid dreams and get very hot at night whilst taking the pills! Positive opks on day 14/15.

Chichz · 25/10/2019 15:02

@Paige911231 Welcome and congratulations on finally getting your Clomid! I've just started this past few days so 2nd round will be in late November. When abouts will you be starting?

@DobbieFreeElf I sound like you then! It's probably better to have the night time symptoms if we have to have some I guess Smile x

Paige911231 · 25/10/2019 15:44

@Chichz fingers crossed for you this month! I should be starting first week of November if all goes to plan.

Sylva123 · 25/10/2019 15:57

Hi everyone, I've just been prescribed Clomid so I hope you don't mind me joining. I have a question - I know I need to call the hospital on day one of my next period to book a scan. What cycle day is the scan usually? I'm asking because my work don't know I'm TTC and I have two conferences & overnight stays next month and I'm worried it'll be when the scan will need to be

Chichz · 25/10/2019 16:01

Thank you - as I said to some of the other ladies, I'm unlikely to fall pregnant on it due to other issues but I'd like to ovulate and get a more regular cycle whilst I wait for my IVF appointment Smile

Looks like you'll be in between my two cycles then haha! There will be someone on here to be a cycle buddy though I'm sure. Hopefully this will be the end of a long journey for you. X

Chichz · 25/10/2019 16:29

Hi @Sylva123! Is it a pelvic ultrasound? I don't think that one matters - I was given a date for that and had to change it, and didn't seem to be a problem.

However if it's your HSG (the one with dye) then that must be between certain days of your cycle - I want to say day 6-13? So very soon after ringing and there probably won't be a choice of days if it's the NHS.

It's a pain I know! X

Paige911231 · 25/10/2019 16:37

@Chichz I've heard Clomid is great for regulating so that's good. I know a couple of people with success stories in the last few months from IVF so wishing you all the best.

@Sylva123 I've been told to call on day 1 as I will have my scan either day 6 or day 7 after starting to take clomid on day 2 if this helps?

Sylva123 · 25/10/2019 16:57

@Chichz it's the scan to see how the follicles are responding to the clomid. I've done the HSG with the dye and oh my goodness I don't ever want to do that again! So painful!! 😆

@Paige911231 that does help, thank you. That'll mean my scan will be the day of the conference or the day I'm traveling up, which is awkward. It's not the most fertility friendly workplace so will need to come up with an excuse. There's no way I'm waiting a month! Thanks.

Looking forward to having some clomid buddies! I'll be starting around the 18th November xx

seven201 · 25/10/2019 17:38

Welcome newbies.

@Sylva123 I paid privately for a tracking scan and it needed to be between cd10 and 14. So it sounds like different places have very different approaches!

Chichz · 25/10/2019 17:40

Ah yeah, not the scan I was thinking of - none of that for me, boo hoo. But yes, agree about the HSG - going to need another before we start IVF and really not looking forward to it!

Best of luck to you both. x

Sylva123 · 25/10/2019 18:39

Oh no @chichz I'm so sorry you have to have another one. Soooo uncomfortable it was almost enough to put me off this whole thing! I hope yours goes well and that the IVF is a success.

@seven201 thank you, I'll be prepared that it could be a bit later then, depending on how my hospital do things. Did you do the clomid via NHS and the tracking scan privately? I was wondering about doing that so I could have a bit more control over when the scan would be, but was worried it would confuse everything. How was your experience?

Goingbacktokansascity · 25/10/2019 18:56

@sylva123 I’ve nhs for treatment but have all my tracking scans private, it’s been fine they give me written reports anyway so I can always call up the consultant/nurses and relay the info and have it documented if they need it!

seven201 · 25/10/2019 19:24

@Sylva123 my local nhs fertility department has many months between appointments (she said no to clomid at first appt) so I eventually gave up and bit the bullet and went private. He wasn't going to do any scans but long story short I had complications and ended up paying for one on my second cycle where it was discovered clomid thins my womb lining too much so I had to stop. He did at the first private appt write a letter to my gp requesting I was referred back to him as an nhs patient (as I needed surgery to unblock a Fallopian tube). I really think it's all luck of the draw as to what a doctor will prescribe and how they monitor.

DobbieFreeElf · 25/10/2019 22:07

@seven201 out of interest, what happened when you found that the lining was thinned? Did you have to stop for a number of months to replenish? Or did it happen next cycle?

My period is still MIA literally just disappeared since my spotting a few days ago. My period since my first miscarriage and subsequent ERPC, has been light and short. I've got one more round of clomid pills but seeing as the last 2 months it hasn't done what I was hoping (lengthening luteal phase), and that we have given in and booked our initial IVF consultation, I haven't decided whether I should take this month's pills or not...

seven201 · 25/10/2019 22:20

@DobbieFreeElf to be honest I don't really know. On clomid it was measure at 3.5mm. The next cycle I was given tamoxifen (I think it's similar to letrazole) and had another scan and I think my womb lining at that point in my cycle was 6.5 mm (needs to be at least 8, preferably I think 12+ (I may have made up these figures!). I've not had a scan since but I'm hoping it was still recovering a little when I had the 6.5mm result.

I think it usually takes a while to get from initial ivf consultation to actually starting the actual procedure. I've got my consultation 11th Nov and the lady I spoke to was a bit vague but said it would be jan or Feb I'd actually start. Will need to have more scans, up to date blood tests, semen analysis again etc. Have you had tracking scans before? They would have probably picked up if there was an issue.

Sorry your period is MIA still. May be a good sign!

seven201 · 25/10/2019 22:22

@DobbieFreeElf also, when I've been reading about ivf I read something about if they get to the stage where they're ready to implant the fertilised egg but discover your lining isn't thick enough they can freeze the egg, wait for lining to improve (prob give more drugs I guess) then put the egg in then. Or there's the scratch thing you can pay extra for Hmmwhich I think makes the womb lining want to thicken up even more.

Sylva123 · 26/10/2019 12:00

@seven201 & @Goingbacktokansascity thanks so much. It is good to know I have the option to go private for the scans and still use NHS for the rest of it, just in case I can't get a scan at the hospital this month (they said you can only start taking the tablets when they've confirmed they've got scan appts available, so going private sound overcome that)
