What would you do? CD22. I've rung the GP and the nurse is back to back all day, they also don't have paperwork for a blood test (obviously!) but the very helpful receptionist said that there is a walk-in Pathology lab at our local hospital and that I can go down there and ask them to do a progesterone test and they'll generate the paperwork. Should I bother? It's a 1 hour round trip to the hospital plus waiting time etc... I did get a positive opk, I'm just curious to know what my progesterone is doing... (won't have the chance next month as we'll be in Australia!)

Good on him @Goingbacktokansascity my OH did 3 dry months at the beginning of this year, as it takes 3 months for anything to make an impact on sperm, and we didn't get pregnant and he was miserable. I've also done months of not drinking (and months of drinking lots) and still no BFP 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have a wee boy who’s 10 months old 😌 started trying after our wedding and it took us 2 years to have him, so we decided to try as soon as we could to have another. It meant I had to stop breastfeeding sooner than I would have liked as you can’t take these drugs and breastfeed

Goingbacktokansascity · 21/10/2019 09:17

@DobbieFreeElf you generally ovulate so I’d give the long drive a miss!

CharlotteCx · 21/10/2019 09:34

Oh that's lovely then! Are you on Clomid?

CharlotteCx · 21/10/2019 09:35

Not having much luck with getting hold of my gynos Secutary. 🙄 why do these people never answer their phone when you need them to.

DobbieFreeElf · 21/10/2019 09:36

@Goingbacktokansascity you're right.,. Probably just trying to get out of doing some boring work!! Grin

CharlotteCx · 21/10/2019 09:39

Also, if you do the 6 months of Clomid & it doesn't work... what next? Is there other tablets you can take to make you ovulate other than Clomid? Or, once your body starts to ovulate on the clomid, once you stop taking them does it continue to ovulate by itself or go back to normal?

Goingbacktokansascity · 21/10/2019 09:55

@CharlotteCx I’m on letrozole which is similar. If clomid didn’t make you ovulate then they would probably put you on letrozole, not sure if they would if clomid is working though.

Goingbacktokansascity · 21/10/2019 09:55

@CharlotteCx I imagine if you’re ovulating for 6 months but don’t get pregnant on clomid they’d suggest 3 rounds of IUI and then ivf

DobbieFreeElf · 21/10/2019 10:36

Oh for goodness sake! Just heard on the radio that the Radford family (the northern family with loads of kids) are pregnant again with their 22 baby!

CharlotteCx · 21/10/2019 11:17

@DobbieFreeElf what the hell. Why would you even want that many babies though 🤣

CharlotteCx · 21/10/2019 11:18

Oh I hope the clomid work for me 😩 STILL can't get hold of the Secutary! Starting to pull my hair out now. Hope the drs can just give me the tablets!

Marmite83 · 21/10/2019 11:42

I saw that too @DobbieFreeElf. Couldn't help but feel a little resentful Sad

Chichz · 21/10/2019 13:49

I read that Clomid will induce ovulation in 80% of women within 3 months of use, which I thought was quite encouraging. It didn't mention the dosage, though I think 100mg is the maximum normally prescribed in the UK (and this was an NHS-based leaflet).

Of course that's only part of the battle, but every positive counts on this journey! X

gwen7896 · 21/10/2019 14:28

Can Clomid lower your immune system? I’ve just finished round 2 (100mg) and I’ve come down with my 2nd cold within a month...

CharlotteCx · 21/10/2019 14:47

My dr has kindly prescribed my Clomid too me. Have to pick them up in the morning. Thank god he has because the Secutary has been absoloutley useless. She said 'well why didn't you call up last week and order them to give us more time' ... well I didn't know if I was guna come on my period or not then 🙄

CharlotteCx · 21/10/2019 14:48

@Chichz my friend had 150mg of Clomid as 50 & 100mg wasn't making her ovulate. She fell on her 5th month on 150mg! X

CharlotteCx · 21/10/2019 14:49

@gwen7896 funny you say that, I finished my first cycle at the beginning of October and come down the a bad cold! Only just coming out the other side of it now. So maybe! Xx

Goingbacktokansascity · 21/10/2019 14:52

I couldn’t see why it would lower your immune system, mechanism of action seems to be via hormonal feedback loop rather than anything else, but worthwhile checking the BMJ incase I’m wrong

Goingbacktokansascity · 21/10/2019 14:53

Didn’t mean bmj meant BNF online!

Helena112 · 21/10/2019 16:43

This was my last chance to see if clomid (100mg) would make me ovulate, the hospital have LOST my day 21 blood test AngrySad

Goingbacktokansascity · 21/10/2019 17:05

@Helena112 that’s absolutely bonkers

Helena112 · 21/10/2019 17:06

I'm so angry!! Just my luck 😔

Goingbacktokansascity · 21/10/2019 18:17

@Helena112 I’m having similar issues..except nowhere near as high pressure as yours. I handed my blood sample into the hospital I work at and not th one with the ACS department which i was told was fine, labs process it and they can look it up on the system. Except today the nurse has said she’s not comfortable looking at another hospitals results.... having to wait until I speak to the consultant 🙄

Helena112 · 21/10/2019 19:33

@Goingbacktokansascity why is it all so petty Angry my doctor has apologised, said if AF arrives by the weekend we will guess it worked, she will give me another round. If no AF, wait ten days do a pregnancy test (ten days!!) then start the IVF application - more waiting Sad wish I just knew what my body was doing!!

I did get a peek ovulation on my clear blue monitor on cycle day 14. Just have to hope it wasn't a false reading!
